Joe The Journalist, meet Christiane Amanpour
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Joe The Plumber is putting down his wrenches and picking up a reporter’s notebook.
The Ohio man who became a household name during the presidential campaign says he is heading to Israel as a war correspondent for the conservative Web site pjtv.com.
Samuel J. Wurzelbacher says he’ll spend 10 days covering the fighting.
He tells WNWO-TV in Toledo that he wants to let Israel’s “‘Average Joes’ share their story.”
Wurzelbacher gained attention during the final weeks of the campaign when he asked Barack Obama about his tax plan.
He later joined Republican John McCain on the campaign trail. At one stop, he agreed with a McCain supporter who asked if he believed a vote for Obama was a vote for the death of Israel.

I just cannot wait to get the plumber’s interpretation of average life in Israel. Will they go easy on him? Will he get his own pair of 3D glasses? And, most importantly, will his reporting be live or Memorex? The questions..the suspense.

Jay, why no blog on Panera’s, sorry, Panetti’s appointment? This signals the first step in PEOTUS’ dismantling of a national security program that kept us safe on American soil. At any rate, after the root nuts tried to shift Clinton’s culpability in 911 to GWB, this makes marks a clear red line between our President’s sucessful policies and that which might happen with PEOTUS at the helm.

“….the only successful President is President Clinton”, come on lets look at reality.
Gutted the intelligence community which opened the door for Al Qaeda and 9/11.
Planted the seeds, subsequently watered by Barney Frank, Maxine Waters, & Chris (D)odd, that grew into the Freddie/Fannie meltdown/subprime crisis/credit crisis.
His administration’s Ahab-like obession with Microsoft created a soft regulatory environment that provided the petri dish for the Worldcom and Enron scandals that created a major recession corrected by the Bush tax cuts.
I did not have sex with that women.
Blago style “pay for play” where library contributions were sold in exchange for political pardons.

I was waiting to see which knucklehead would jump on the teen pregnancy in red states crap.
Let’s go ahead and set that record straight. The report talks about birth rate, not pregnancy rate.
We know in those blue states, they kill their babies before they are born, taking their statistic off of the BIRTH rate report.

Hey Byll,
From NBC’s Mark Murray:
“With President Bush set to leave the White House less than two weeks from now, here’s a “Then and Now” to show what the United States looked like when Bush was entering office and what it looks like now as he’s leaving. The “Then” is the best-available figure as Bush was taking office in 2001. The “Now” is the most recent figure.
UNEMPLOYMENT RATE Then: 4.2% (Bureau of Labor Statistics, January 2001) Now: 6.7% (Bureau of Labor Statistics, November 2008)
DOW JONES INDUSTRIAL AVERAGE Then: 10,587 (close of Friday, Jan. 19, 2001) Now: 9,015 (close of Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009)
BUSH FAVORABILITY RATING Then: 50% (1/01 NBC/WSJ poll) Now: 31% (12/08 NBC/WSJ poll)
CHENEY FAVORABILITY RATING Then: 49% (1/01 NBC/WSJ poll) Now: 21% (12/08 NBC/WSJ poll)
CONGRESS APPROVAL RATING Then: 48% (1/01 NBC/WSJ poll) Now: 21% (12/08 NBC/WSJ poll)
SATISFIED WITH THE NATION’S DIRECTION Then: 45% (1/01 NBC/WSJ poll) Now: 26% (12/08 NBC/WSJ poll)
CONSUMER CONFIDENCE (1985=100) Then: 115.7 (Conference Board, January 2001) Now: 38.0, which is an all-time low (Conference Board, December 2008)
FAMILIES LIVING IN POVERTY Then: 6.4 million (Census numbers for 2000) Now: 7.6 million (Census numbers for 2007 — most recent numbers available)
AMERICANS WITHOUT HEALTH INSURANCE Then: 39.8 million (Census numbers for 2000) Now: 45.7 million (Census numbers for 2007 — most recent available)
U.S. BUDGET Then: +236.2 billion (2000, Congressional Budget Office) Now: -$1.2 trillion (projected figure for 2009, Congressional Budget Office)
Nuff said.

Anyone who has ever worked with plumbing knows that it’s a bit more complicated than s*t won’t run up hill. (It will if you use a lift pump.) You have to have a knowledge of hydraulics to make the DWV part of the system work properly. For instance if you put a lavatory below a commode without the sink having it’s own vent, flushing the commode will suck the lavatory trap dry. This will lead to a smelly bathroom and unhealthy fumes floating around in your living space. The water supply side of plumbing is another set of knowledge and skills. Every occupation is more involved than it looks to people on the outside.
As for Joe the Plumber becoming a journalist, it doesn’t matter to me one way or the other.

And al-Gitmo, an interesting exercise would be to back your 2008 dates down to 2006, you know, when the democrats took over control of spending bills and such.

Hear your hero, zero-
“Teen pregnancy can derail the plans of students with dreams of achieving professional success, and it’s hitting minority communities particularly hard,” said Senator Obama. “While the country’s overall teen birth rate continues to decline, pregnancies in African American and Latino communities remain inexcusably high. We must develop innovative approaches to strengthen our community support networks and services to educate our teens about pregnancy and provide them with every chance to succeed in school and beyond.”
According to the Forum study, communities of color continue to be at significantly higher risk for teen pregnancies. The birth rate among 15-17 year old African American and Latina adolescents is 3 times and 4 times higher, respectively, than the rate for white teens. According to the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, over half of Latina teens and African American girls will get pregnant at least once before age 20.-Oblahma.com

Obama will continue Bush’s foreign policy for the foreseeable future.
All living presidents met in the White House today. I wonder how Bush felt hosting a scumbag that caused 9-11 and hosting another scumbag that second guessed Bush even though the scumbag was a failed president.
Jay Bookman recommends Joe the Plumber meet Christiane Amanpour. I assume it is so Amanpour can instruct the fledgling journalist how to bribe corrupt foreign officials for access to their leaders. CNN is a pioneer in that arena.

You are whipping a dead horse. Planned Parenthood has spent billions of taxpayers dollars teaching sex education and paying for abortions and there hasn’t been much of a drop in the pregnancy rate.
