Kitt was plainspoken about causes she believed in. Her anti-war comments at the White House came as she attended a White House luncheon hosted by Lady Bird Johnson.

You send the best of this country off to be shot and maimed,” she told the group of about 50 women. “They rebel in the street. They don’t want to go to school because they’re going to be snatched off from their mothers to be shot in Vietnam.

Ms.Kitt’s comments were certainly prescient in re the clusterf*ck and needless loss and waste of life in the current fiasco in Iraq.

Ho ho ho-

Every president for more than three decades has had to talk with federal prosecutors at one time or another. President-elect Barack Obama may have set a land speed record by giving his first interview to investigators even before taking the oath of office.

Obama sat down last week with four investigators looking into the alleged attempt to sell his former Senate seat.

Oh my goodness, they are all over that as-s, I wonder how many lies he told.

You know, this Oblahma presidency deal may not be so bad……………..for Republicans.

I wonder if she will be freeze dried like James Brown and ferried all about the country in a train so people can look?

Maybe not, since all trains are booked and ready to go to the coronation in DC next month.

Maybe she could be kept in cold storage until she’s needed again … you know, like for instance how the media keeps digging up dead Kennedys every election cycle, with their ‘remembrances’ of Camelot, Jackie, JohnJohn, etc., etc.

Other than the delusional idiocy at places like this, Blago’s trial has zero impact on President Obama.

The world is full of delusional imbeciles who sit in a corner and mutter to themselves rendering events of no consequence to normal people consequential to them, making loose tangential associations and grandiose references to people the events don’t impact.

These are the same people who thought someone who said she could see Russia from Alaska should be in line to be President of the U.S.

They have zero training and experience in federal criminal litigation strategy, are showing it by failing to be able to read and understand a simple complaint, and are jerking their chicken (alone) as they have done since their teens.

It would seem though, if you are one of these imbeciles and think you’re onto something, particularly when you were some kind of federal employee in the past, you can call Pat Fitz and share your imbecility with him. I bet he rushes to take your call:

None of these wingnuts will live long enough to ever see a Republican President in the oval office. Most people attempt to learn by history, and as Einstein said, when you don’t, that’s a definition of mental illness.

Instead of getting a message when they lost by Obama 365 McCain 173 (192 frigging electoral votes) these imbeciles are beating the same dead repugnant right wingnut ideas that the majority ofthe country dispises and will continue to reject in election after election.** The only states that vote for Republican candidates are states with predominantly poorly educated voters who are white racists, like Georgia which ranks last in education and is so stupid it administers standardized tests and then promotes everyone who fails the tests.

To AJC/DNC

The truth about someone is still the truth; regardless of whether they are alive or dead. Being dead doesn’t change facts about how a person lived their life. Author Unknown

I merely restated what the national news did this evening. I had forgotten about it until they reminded me.

I left good friends over there who willingly went to help a country in need.

For them, I will not be silent ………..

I have the sense from time to time that I am not alone, and I suspect that despite the limited understanding we have of events in distant places, there will always be those among us who have the gleam of the quest in their eyes. They are people of every sex and station and the yearn to be challenged to a cause. They will always be looking for that wrong to right, that ill to cure, that song to sing; and there will always be those who will go to arms in aid of the helpless and the downtrodden. Ignoring the political issues of the moment, these people will champion the weak and the poor in the face of evil and tyranny. And no matter what the outcome, in their romantic hearts they will always keep the secret, if secret it must be, that they are better men for having held the lamp beside the golden door.

Looks like Hollywood fantasy got you again. Those guys were only a notch short of Hitler themselves.

If you don’t know the difference between evil and good warfare I probably can’t help you but I’ll try.

1) Those who fight for freedom = Good

2) Those who fight for facism, nazism, dictatorships, communism, totalitariansim, Islamic fundamentalism, despotism or any other human bondage “ism” you can think of = Evil.

I am proud of my service in Vietnam (and I wear my Vietnam service lapel pin anytime I can) in an effort to provide true freedom to millions of people who are still under bondage. I would do it again.

Viet Nam was a consummately stupid war propelled by people like McNaMara and LBJ and Kissinger who continually like to people parallel to the lies that are propelled today as we’re mired in Iraq with continual death.

The VAH was totally ihadequate never having half the basic medicines you reached for at nights or on weekends to take care of those Vietnam vets, and it is no different or more competent a system tonight.

Currently drug use by US and Iraqi soldiers is at an all time high to try to mask the insanity of a war propelled by total chickensh*t chickenhawks, the vast majority of whom like Bush are draft dodgers or people who hid behind their daddy’s skirts to make sure they got assignments that would never take them out of the US where they could again hide behind daddy, coke up, hide out, and fail to report for a phsical when they were assinged a plane that would actually see combat in Nam.

(With sincere apologies to Mr. Moore):

Twas the night before primary season and all through the South

All the RightWingnuts were busily running their mouths

Their shotguns were placed under pillows with care

In fear that a ‘tare-ist’ would soon be there

These dolts and dummies hid under their beds

And visions from mens’ muscle magazines danced in their heads

But Vitter in his diaper and Rudi in her dress

Were a part of what made their party a mess (ew)

And then naughty naughty Larry Craig started to chatter

“I’m not gay, so what does it matter?

Come on Mr. Policeman I’ll give you some cash,

All you gotta do is give me a flash”

All Bookman’s RightWingnuts started to moan

Whine, pout, cry, wail and groan

When all of the sudden what should appear

A woman they’re pretty sure wasn’t a queer!

With a folksy “you betcha” and a big big gun

The hearts of the RightWingnuts were easily won

She’d kilt caribou and polar bears just for a hoot

It seemed there wasn’t anything that she wouldn’t shoot!

And with this Sarah Palin

Came a big package deal

Son Trak, young Piper and thirteen-year-old Willow

Little baby Trig, (was “Grandma” wearing a pillow?)

And the (oops preggers) young gal Bristol

(Like mom evidently, a bit of a pistol)

And leading them all, the beer-swilling Todd

With his penchant for naming his children quite odd.

Like maggots drawn to the smell of spoilt meat,

The RightWingnuts cheered and groveled at her feet!

So back to the blogs they happily flew

And spread even thicker their usual doo-doo.

Old Hensley-McCain was at first very happy

But soon he realized

His choice was quite crappy

(Lousier even than Vitter’s dirty nappy!)

They tried dressing her up in beautiful clothes

And tons of makeup on her 44-year-old nose

But even with her cute baby Trig,

In their hearts they knew they were lipsticking a pig

She’d open her mouth and stupidity flew

The usual RightWingnut ooogedy-boogedy boo

The nation of Africa and the rest of the world too

That she was an idiot everyone knew.

Even so the RightWingnuts flocked to her side

So she winked and giggled and gave them a ride

From her droll little mouth inanities flowed

And the O’Reillys and Hannitys practically glowed

Her crowds were as white as the pure driven snow

And the RightWingnuts cheered “Go Sarah go”

In her one-hundred-fifty thousand dollars of dress

Sarah kept making a nastier mess

For the RightWingnut rabble

She kept up her babble

Like brainless turkeys they continued to gobble

And lick up everything Sarah would dribble

But of course decent folks could not be swayed

And Old Hensley-McCain became more dismayed

But by now he knew it was too late to switch

And that he was stuck with this worthless stupid, er, witch.

On the 4th of November we decent American folk

Put an end to this ridiculous joke

But the RightWingnut losers from under their beds

Had visions of Palin 2012 dance in their empty heads.

God bless America…

Had she been white, I would have equally pointed out the clever references you tried to make about trailer parks, but you did misspell Hillbilly Hollar (Holler is more correct, but perhaps not to your public school level).

Also, I did not want to offend Mr Trash, vbut he stuck his schnoz in there anyway. Because of where and how he was raised, I hear that those mountain goats, er, I mean, people all have quite an ‘in-family’ relationship, if you catch my drift. But, he took offense anyway (he always does), as his sick, psychopathic mushroom that he passes for a brain saw something he did not like.

So Trash, does your whole family, sister, brothers, cousins, daughters, etc., all appear on the same birth certificate, or all have the same UNK or DNK typed in the space for ‘Father’?

You are correcting my phonetic spelling of the colloquial usage of the word “hollow”? I suppose I learned that from my Very Public School. (BA, English, University of Michigan ‘86)

I don’t have a problem with logic, in fact I prefer it. Therefore, logically stringing your thoughts together, could lead us to believe that all Republicans think racial jokes are funny. Is that what you are saying? That’s good inside information, Thank you for that!

I just love it when the ignorant try to put others in their places….. You probably want to stay out of the education realm, most of you seem to be sorely lacking in that arena, even when you try real hard to appear educated. Better to stick to the idealogical crap and leave the smart stuff to the liberals.

There is one issue where I agree wholeheartedly with AJC/DNC and many Rethug wingnuts. Caroline Kennedy should never be in the US Senate. She’s not the only one—many sitting Senators on both sides of the aisle (many more Republicans) should never have been there.

If nothing else, here elitist attitude that she should just pick up the phonepbeceause of her name’s money raising capacity, and like Palin although she’s much smarter and better informed refuse to answer any questions or take interviews is reprhensibly dispicable.

Sheldon Silver, the highest ranking Dem in NY state government, the Speaker has come out in public the last few days against her and I don’t believe Paterson is going to appoint her from all I can read.

By Cheryl

December 26, 2008 11:23 AM | Link to this

Maybe I sounded a bit too elitist in my post. My deepest apologies if I offended anyone. I know how offput Americans have become by anyone sounding too educated or accomplished. I humbly submit to be “dumbed” down by the right…..

I’m sure Caroline Kennedy is sorry for being an “Elitist” too….. However, the US Senate, is an Elitist institution, not for the “everyman Representative” which is the House of Representatives. The Senate, is supposed to be the “thinkers” and the intellectual branch of the collective Congress. It has always been, it is the American version of the ‘House of Lords”. And it has until recent years, worked very well, until everyman politics took over and mediocrity began to rule the country!

Bring back thinking people to government….. Our founding fathers were not dumb, or uneducated, and certainly were not the “common folk”. There is a reason the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence are such brilliant documents, REAL thinkers penned them. NOT Commoners!

Ugh, I am so sick of people being okay with being status quo!

Cheryl—

Which of the “thinkers” in the Senate are your faves?

Hooker Vitter Wide Stance Craig “Tell the US Attorney who to Indict Pete” Domenici Global Warming is a hoax on the coal burners Imhoff

Caroline Kennedy is just one of many heiresses who cloisters herself on Park Avenue.

Now she wants to be Senator because of her bloodlines.

I’ve never seen someone get elected to the Senate who is afraid to give interviews.

So far, she has refused to talk to the press at any opportunity except to say menaingless garbage for 30 seconds literally and she will not grant interviews or answer anyquestions. Her “aide”—why does a 51 year old woman who is not running for anything need an aide? whisks her away from the press.

Paterson is not going to appoint her. There is way too much pressure on him not to and that’s a good thing. Screw the fact that she supposedly can raise a theoretical $70 million dollars. That should never ben the criterion.

There are many more qualified people than her in New York.

By Cheryl

December 26, 2008 7:16 PM | Link to this

Chad, I said it WAS a place of thinkers, until recent years…. I would agree with you, Vitter and his ilk have been p** poor members, and were way outside of their class. But those members, are really good representatives of the folks who elected them, and illustrate the lack of basic understanding of Civics the average American has these days.

I wasn’t trying to make your point moot, I was just saying that don’t say she isn’t qualified because she is Elite. The nature of the Senate is to be Elite, it is the ELITE branch of Congress.

However, tell me the qualifications of most of the the other members of the Senate, prior to them becoming Senators. Most of them were Lawyers, Doctors, or Former Governors, few were congressmen, or the likes. NONE of them were Senators prior to becoming Senators, and most of them were “Elites” as the term applies.

Caroline Kennedy, holds a Juris Doctorate from Columbia, and is the author of not one but two books on the Constitution. She has not “cloistered herself on Park Avenue, rather, she has been busy in New York, with her foundation, and working with the NY public schools on curriculum, and is credited with making some of the most sweeping and positive changes in New York Education in decades.

I think as a LAW MAKER, she is qualified to look at complex issues, and make a determination on what she believes is right, take into consideration the constitution and her constituents, argue her view adequately, and vote on the matter. That is what a Senator does, so exactly why is she unqualified? Sounds to me like your reason is her name being Kennedy?

Whether she the best candidate, is for Gov. Patterson to decide, and then shortly thereafter, the New York voters will decide, but if you are saying that a woman, who has lived her entire life in a family who understands the Senate, what it does, how it works, the Presidency, what he does, and how it works, and lives public service, the value and responsibility of it, then I would say that being a Kennedy, and especially Caroline Kennedy, would make her not only qualified, but Uniquely qualified, elitism aside.

I’m waiting on a real answer on why she IS NOT qualified, besides the same crap we heard over and over about why Obama wasn’t qualified either. These imaginary qualifications or lack of them, that crop up when convenient, are confusing. Who is the standard setter here?

Low Country,

Lol, That’s a good one, andt further illustrates the point.

You say, having a firm grasp on basic Civics and being able to articulate it based on facts instead of emotion, makes me sound like a snob, instead of what it should make me which is an average American.

So, what is the answer? I’m waiting to hear what qualifies one for public office. What are the benchmarks, and what are the outcomes we expect from our leaders, and what makes one qualified? It certainly isn’t education, or excellence in their fields of work or study; we only have to look as far back as Bush 43 to know that mediocre is just fine with most, as long as he’s a guy you might want to have a beer with.

So, Snob or not, I would love to know why being a demonstratively highly intelligent individual is an automatic disqualification for public office in this century, when we are a nation born from brilliance. Why do so many want the dummies to lead?

Thanks :-)
