Palin’s home church torched
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
I don’t know what to make of this, other than to say that if it had anything to do with the campaign, the person who did it is one sick dude.
Of course, if it had nothing to do with the campaign, the person who did it is still one sick dude.
from the AP:
“ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Gov. Sarah Palin’s home church was badly damaged by arson, leading the governor to apologize if the fire was connected to “undeserved negative attention” from her failed campaign as the Republican vice presidential nominee.
Damage to the Wasilla Bible Church was estimated at $1 million, authorities said Saturday. No one was injured in the fire, which was set Friday night while a handful of people, including two children, were inside, according to Central Mat-Su Fire Chief James Steele.
He said the blaze was being investigated as an arson but didn’t know of any recent threats to the church. Authorities didn’t know whether Palin’s connection to the church was relevant to the fire, Steele said.
Palin, who was not at the church at the time of the fire, stopped by Saturday. Her spokesman, Bill McAllister, said in a statement that Palin told an assistant pastor she was sorry if the fire was connected to the “undeserved negative attention” the church has received since she became the vice presidential candidate Aug. 29.
“Whatever the motives of the arsonist, the governor has faith in the scriptural passage that what was intended for evil will in some way be used for good,” McAllister said.”

Good Morning, Jay You shouldn’t have to blog on Sundays, I don’t care how 24 hours the news seemingly is. Even liberals should get at least one or two weekend days off for themselves or their families.
Anyways, about the subject at hand. I hope that whomever did burn that church, or any church or legitimate place of peaceful worship, is hunted down, shot, hung and burned at the stake like the dirty sick disgusting godless punk demonic psychotic thuggish dogs that they are and I hope that they burn a slow painful eternal death in the bowels of hell. Burn a church and we burn you, alive. Punks! Just let me get my hands around their slimy little necks and we would see if any snot-nosed little punks would want to burn down a church with people in it ever again.
P.S.: Throw in O.J. Simpson, Brian Nichols and (So-Called) Illinois Gov. Rod Blagovich to that hunting down like a dog thing and we just may have something going! The only bad thing is that those sickos might actually LIKE it.

I was googling for more information, I was kinda having my doubts about this being politically motivated and you don’t want to cast suspicion on an innocent party only to be wrong later, but as soon as I finished typing “Wasilla” the “suggestion” feature finished the phrase with “hillbillies” and “incest” and, having remembered the full tilt PDS liberal mental derangement, now I know it was some pinkkko that did it.

Horrible news. My sympathies to the Wasilla congregants, and especially to the children who were present at the time.
As someone who is still reeling from the Knoxville UU violence earlier this year (where two adults were shot during church service while children were performing), I just can’t get my mind around what kind of sociopath could commit acts like this, and how such people live among us.

If only they’d read the Southern Preacher’s Handbook -
A fiery cross is a great way to build enthusiasm and excitement amongst your congregation.
There is nothing better than following a day of long day of tent meetings, casting out devils and demons, laying on of hands, and speaking in tongues followed by a dish-to-pass and a gathering around a big burning cross just as the sun goes down. It’s a guaranteed way to get them back in the pews Sunday morning. Just don’t try it indoors.(emphasis mine).

DB,
Just like Nichols loved his fellow man. In a perfect world, these Unitarian principles would seem to fit….. in Nichols’s case, I am not so sure. He beat that lady guard so bad that she lost the sight in one eye and is now brain damaged. He then took another gun and gangland style executed the judge and a court reporter with a shot each to the back of the head. Upon leaving the court house, he shot and killed another guard, then killed the federal agent and stole his truck. No remorse….. only cold blooded killings and never looking back. I hope no one was hurt in the fire. Maybe they’ll learn what actually happened after an investigation and share that with everyone instead of everyone jumping to their own conclusions. What’s next — a good old fashioned Christian lynch mob. It sure looks like this fire has brought out the Christians to express their sympathies and concern this morning. Regarding Palin’s comments, I would have to wonder why she thinks this fire had anything to do with her. That sounds like a rather self-centered response to me given that God’s children don’t usually assign blame without first acquiring a preponderance of evidence and even then many Christians believe in turning the other cheek.
Some of you folks here sound like you would just as soon line up people and start killing until someone confessed. Let’s see. We have a little hole in the wall town of less than 10,000 people in a hustling and bustling part of Alaska that has how many strangers in town that are not known to all. In a town like that, they can probably tell you what every single person in town had for supper and yet the concern from Palin is that she stirred up some terrorists somewhere (surely none of the locals) and got them riled up enough to come to Alaska and burn down that Church. And some of you people make fun of others when they talk about Obama being born on another planet as explanation for his lack of paperwork. I have a hard time differentiating between the tall tales.

Mission Accomplished—the first chickenhawk lands in Iraq this morning surrounded by over a thousand armed gaurds and countless choppers and planes.
Why won’t Georgie do some Christmas shopping in the streets of Bagdad?
The draft dodgers who went AWOL in Alabama on his coke binge will spend about 4 hours on the ground far from harm’s way because no Bush risks skin in Iraq or the armed forces since Daddy.
Palin’s torch still burns. The national office that she has as much chance of winning as Britney Spears who right now has made more money on her new album than Sarah will realize stealing it in her life.
It was totally hypocritical to see Ole Bud Weiser rant and rave about church burning (a white congregation) which is always deplorable who is fresh from launching a racist rant at the level of a 3rd grader about the Obamas.
Bud—you couldn’t cut the grass at Harvard and it shows. Instead of the mud slinging and name calling try your hand at issues. It’s difficult I know, but I think you have opinions about them that you could write about. We know that anyone can do what they learned to do at the school bus stop or recess—but it looks absurd on someone in an adult body and fleshes out the portrait of a Georgia last in education with the adult bodies displaying just that.

Here’s one for ole corporal about a great Fed and Patriot “The Fed Who Bles the Whistle” from Newseek’s Michael Ischicoff
http://www.newsweek.com/id/174601/output/print
Hat’s off to Thomas Tamm. The illegal wiretapping continues.
We have a female Jonah Godberg. Blago is using The Chicago Sun Times’ idiot Michael Sneed whose columns the Times’ has said it will remove from its website to leak his delusions. The columns sound like the conspiracy theories the wingnutters have aired here.
And day after day and Fitzie hasn’t targeted one person but Blago or people in Blago’s administration and he won’t.
All you good ole boys getting orgasmic over the pending Blago indictment and as usual conflating
contact and consultation with a Senate appointment when there is a relatively rare vacancy in a state
and
violation of portions of 18USC
are wasting a lot of your time with a superficial look at the issues.
Why not tackle some real problems?
No one on Obama’s transition team did anything remotely illegal, unethical, or inappropriate as to Blago’s naming of a Senator whoever one now gets sworn in.
It is perfectly appropriate for anyone in the transition team, or anyone out of it who is in contention for the Senate seat to have contacts with Blago whether they call, email, meet, or use tin cans and string.
That’s exactly what happened, for example when Coverdell suffered his CVA in 2000 and Roy Barnes appointed the now deteriorating Zell Miller in 7/2000.
If in fact, Blago is convicted of the on point statutes for shopping the Senate seat and/or putting other public offices for sale (and yep still another reason and probably one of the few you have to get orgasmic) Tony Rezco is providing information (how helpful/credible remains to be seen) to Fitz’s team and the Fumbling Bureau of Investigation, but none of it is going to implicate Obama, the transition team, or bottom line any personality that any of us has even heard of until now.
And you can jump, holler, yippe kah yea and make noise, but when the smoke clears that will be the case.
I’d save time by saying simply “we hear Blago may be indicted and Fitz has about 15 days to get ‘er done goshdarnit” (or he’d make a fool of himself by going to a probable cause hearing in a federal case) and Fitzy ain’t about to do that.
Beyond that, if you’re salivating over Blago’s pending indictment, you’re wasting your time and life’s short.
You’d do better to worry about the insipid idea of one cent going to “bail out” any entity that is lined up for money that will never be seen again once it is infused into any of the investment banks or the auto companies, an area where I can be in rare agreement with Jim Wooten and the Republican Senate. For me that included Delta Air Lines as well.

Bookman’s blog is always filled with interesting and intriguing speculation from our RightWingnut friends.
In that spirit, I am still wondering about the fire at Wasilla Bible.
Here is some of my conjecture and speculation:
Expanding on an earlier post, the collapse in oil prices has greatly impacted Alaska, and the end of earmarks will completely dry up their economy. Oil is down, tithing is way down, and there is a mortgage to pay on a $4M church… Recognizing that in the Manichean moral construct of Wasilla Bible, good people cannot do bad things. So, since the folks at Wasilla are good people, burning down the church and 1) collecting the insurance money, 2) setting up a building fund that will rake in big $$$ from fundie loonies all over the country 3) enhance the myth of Christian persecution, thereby possibly increasing church attendance can only be a good thing, since good people did it.
Also, these are really ‘old-timey’ religion Christians - they believe in devils and demons among us.
Perhaps the little group at the church was performing an exorcism, and someone knocked over a candle while rolling around on the floor in a typical evangelical frenzy, and no one noticed until it was too late, because they were all too busy gibber-gabbering in tongues?
Or, maybe, just maybe, they were burning a witch at the stake, or some other purification ritual…
Anyhow, the speculation could be endless, an enigma as all-encompassing a conundrum as Obama’s birth certificate…
Show us a live witch and prove that you didn’t burn her!

Sorry I haven’t replied sooner. Just got back from the church building where the Church met.
1) I read the Newsweek article. This is all very simple.
If a jury ever determines that illegal wire tapping was done against American citizens overseas then those responsbile should be punished per the U.S. Sentencing Commission guidelines.
If a jury ever determines that Mr. Tamm disclosed classified information then he also should be punished per the U.S. Sentencing Commision guidelines (even if the wiretapping he reported was illegal).
BOTH would have broken the law. We don’t get to pick and choose.
2) I have no idea why the Customs agent was building an expensive home in Buckhead. Maybe he and/or his wife were independently weatlthy (I had a lot of fellow workers in the government who were that blessed).

There’s the enormous I-should-have-had-a-V8! moment as the mainstream press collectively thwacks itself in the forehead, realizing it blew it again. The New York Times - which, according to Wall Street analysts, is weeks from holding editorial board meetings in a refrigerator box - created the journalistic equivalent of “CSI: Wasilla” to study every follicle and fiber in Sarah Palin’s background, all the while treating Obama’s Chicago like one of those fairy-tale lands depicted in posters that adorn little girls’ bedroom walls. See there, Suzie? That’s a Pegasus. That’s a pink unicorn. And that’s a beautiful sunflower giving birth to a fully-grown Barack Obama, the greatest president ever and the only man in history to be able to pick up manure from the clean end.-Jonah Goldberg
Perhaps, but could it be that because the pinkkko press refuses to investigate the depraved multitude of democrat corruption out there, even apologizing, making excuses and propagandizing on behalf of it, that the lib politicians think they are invincible and have nothing to fear, see Blago, Rod?
I’m not complaining, for I know that within the body of every democrat lives a pervert struggling to get out, and any help that they can get achieving this, I am not at all against.
Sweeping the mundane sicknesses under the rug and out of sight only invites the disease to spread like thee cancer.
And will eventually kill the host.
Nothing wrong with that.

Uh oh, thee shine and thee luster might be wearing off-
Obama’s ‘My Pet Goat’ Moment By Steve Chapman- “I was appalled and disappointed by what we heard in those transcripts,” Barack Obama said Thursday about the documented misconduct of the governor of Illinois. That’s right. He was appalled. And it only took him 48 hours to realize it.
Another aide, David Axelrod, now says he was wrong when he said last month that the president-elect and the governor had discussed possible appointees. But Blagojevich’s comments suggest that someone from the Obama camp was communicating on the matter.-Chicago Tribune
You reckon?
I’m sure that Blagovich could have been negotiating with his Oblahma blow up doll, stranger things have happened in the fever swamps.
That’s actually not a bad lie for you libs in the pinkkko press to conjure up, I can see the headlines now Insane Illinois Governor Discovered To Be The Only Person On The Secret Recordings, Was Bargaining Senate Seat With Obama Action Figure!
Lucky Guess Was Source Of Obama’s Preferred Choice!

Corporal—
I appreciate your staying on the level of discussion. It’s a lot more fruitful than the name calling that goes on on so many blog comment sections.
I urge you the next time you go into a bookstore,to take a look at Jim Bamford’s hadow Factory. Bamford, if you aren’t familiar with him has written 3 well documented books, worked at the CIA for years, trained as an attorney, and was a producer at “BC World News Tonight”a while back.
I’m reading it now.

How do you define “remotely”?
It’s uncanny how you can know so much and be so certain about it. LOL.

What about Bush’s duck, that was as smooth as glass, he also turned to the Secret Service and told them not blow this moron away.
Classy.
What is it with reporters, are only drooling psychopaths allowed to partake in this profession? Do you think this little twerp would have done the old shoe toss at one of Saddam’s press conferences?

Gee, conservative activist (and future Palin running mate) Jim Adkisson had the guts to actually do his church-shooting in person at that pesky LIBERAL church in Tennessee.
How well I remember the many right-wing cries of condemnation and outrage for this crime… oh, wait. There weren’t any.
But I don’t blame right-wingers for their hypocrisy; to remember what they said from one day to the next is just asking too much of their teeny, tiny brains.

@Sunshine and pointless—
I meant exactly what I said. No one in Obama’s camp—transition team, Obama or his administration is remotely connected to the charges against Blago.
I couldn’t be clearer. And the reverse would apply: And I’d extend the same invitation to you that Judge Birch used that startled the hapless Karen Handel and her experienced attorney who led a section for years in Bower’s office while the hypocritically biased Bowers was humping his secretary under Bett Rose’s nose:
In the Elventh Circuit oral argment at the end two weeks ago (in the voter ID case, Birch ordered Mark Cohen to produce any evidence whatsoever of the “voter fraud” that Handel, the Rethuglicans, and Jim Woo Woo Wooten have been clamoring exists.
This should be a very interesting document. Mr. Cohen has not filed anything yet, and I’d suggest he’s now feeling as stupid as he looks. And Mark is not ususally painted into the trap Birch put him in.
So all of you Voter ID afficianados might want to help the expensive private counsel your pockets are paying for in this case by moseying on down and helping Mark with his “evidence gathering.” Looks like someone who happens to be a judge on the panel called the thugs on their delusional claims.
Stay tuned.
