This doesn’t look so good for Candidate #5
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
“As Gov. Rod Blagojevich was trying to pick Illinois’ next U.S. senator, businessmen with ties to both the governor and U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. discussed raising at least $1 million for Blagojevich’s campaign as a way to encourage him to pick Jackson for the job, the Tribune has learned.
Blagojevich made an appearance at an Oct. 31 luncheon meeting at the India House restaurant in Schaumburg sponsored by Oak Brook businessman Raghuveer Nayak, a major Blagojevich supporter who also has fundraising and business ties to the Jackson family, according to several attendees and public records.
Two businessmen who attended the meeting and spoke to the Tribune on the condition of anonymity said that Nayak and Blagojevich aide Rajinder Bedi privately told many of the more than two dozen attendees the fundraising effort was aimed at supporting Jackson’s bid for the Senate.
Among the attendees was a Blagojevich fundraiser already under scrutiny by federal investigators, Joliet pharmacist Harish Bhatt.”

Wait until the two “business men” step out of the shadows and rat out Rhaman.
That’s when it gets good.

Jay, I’m shocked you’d stoop to the tawdry guilt-by-association tactics usually employed by wingnuts. Nothing in your post supports the headline or suggests JJJr. knew what these businessmen may have been doing. Perhaps they ratted on Blago, and were working with Fitzgerald to tighten the noose around the Guv’s neck. Or maybe not. My point is that you don’t know, the Tribune doesn’t know and, God knows, neither do Corporal or AC/DC.

Blago already owed a lawyer firm 500K and now he will owe much more.
The pay to play is business as usual in Washington so Obama should appoint Fitz corruption czar to try to slow it down.

Oh, I see, when Aytch promised transparency he meant unless you were accused of something stupid, unethical or criminal.
And of course transparency can never but used to move evidence toward criminal.

Do you forgive any indiscretions that may be made by the Obama team because Bush may have also done the same thing?
Is that your expectations, for our president to be as good as Bush?
Just sounded like it from your post on the previous thread.

If Blagojevich’s instinct for enrichment rose to criminality, it’s hardly unusual. Even the most impeccably liberal scourges of greed manage to get rich quickly after public life. In a two-and-a-half-year period between working in Clinton’s White House and running for Congress, Barack Obama’s new chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, made $16.2 million in investment banking at the small firm of Wasserstein Perella. All it took, surely, was hard work, a little luck — and knowing Clinton fundraiser and Wall Street mogul Bruce Wasserstein.-National Review

Still, Obama has promised to hold his administration to a far higher standard. “It’s not enough to just change the players; we have to change the game,” he says. An ethics bill he proposed in 2007 was aimed partly at empowering ordinary citizens to report ethics violations.
Blah, blah, blah-
Obama said that he had no personal contact with the governor’s staff and has asked his team “to gather the facts … so we can share them with you over the next few days.” That’s the kind of thing politicians say when they know they have a problem but they aren’t sure how bad it is.-LATimes

“A local Fox News affiliate reported that at the time that Coleman allegedly received $75,000 in unreported payments from a prominent Republican businessman, he was also struggling to make payments for the restructuring of his home.
Good government officials wondered whether there was something more than coincidental to the financial exchange. And, indeed, there is other compelling — and up to this point, unnoted — evidence to suggest that Coleman was soliciting monetary favors from his GOP backers.”
It is ok, we should trust them.

Sooooo, Bookman actually reported on what sounds like dirty dealings by dubious Democrats.
Some “regulars” here obviously believe that this is “dissent”, a cut from the workings of Democrats.
So where are all those quotes from Jefferson about how good is DISSENT for stable government, etc. etc. About freedom of speech and none should be dismissed and let everyone speak.
I’m listening. I’m listening. Where’s all that approval of dissenting voices??? That demand for honesty???

I am SO sorry …. you obviously missed my post yesterday.
Remember how you guys have been so derogatory toward President Bush by calling him Dubya - for W his middle initial ?
Well, ……… I mean well, turn about is fair play so when I saw yesterday that the had decided to own up to his middle name Hussein (which he wouldn’t do during the campaign) and is going to use it for his swearing in ceremony, then I decided to nickname him Aytch for his initial H.
I got the idea from a Confederate private in the War Between the States who wrote a diary/book entitled - you guessed it - Company Aytch (for Company “H”).
How appropriate!
So, when you saw Dubya it meant Bush.
When you see Aytch, it means Obama.
And let’s getthose “H’s” on those windshields out there libs !
……………… :o)

um, Corporal — I thought I had seen and read it all here, but that’s pretty damn silly.
Bush was and is always referred to as “Dubya” by his friends and family.
I’m quite sure Obama’s friends and family came up with something more, um original in way of a nickname. As well as far less stupid.

But don’t you just get the feeling that Jessie Jr is so scummy, just like his dad, that he would stoop to this kind of political suicide? Is he so damned dumb that he thinks, like Blago, that these things will not catch up with him? Is he so free in his position in the House and with his voter base, that he can be so blatant and so in your face that he thinks that 47% of America will not get the message? Don’t you libs see the real person? He’s making you look bad.

Ray,
I have never cared for Jesse Sr. — I just plain do not like the man. As for Jesse Jr., I don’t know anything about him. My comments are based purely on the information provided by Jay and all I can conclude is that there’s not enough information presented to make me believe that Jesse Jr. would be indicted for any crime. That could change in a heartbeat given the right information. As for the “libs” comment, I wouldn’t know since I don’t consider myself a “lib”. Finally, the “look bad” comment is one that I would apply to people that do bad things regardless of their label.

So the quandary surrounding Obama’s birth is solved. Yea, apparently he’s the spawn of Jesse Jackson and embattled Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich. Anatomically impossible you say, nothing’s impossible in an era where Sarah Palin ccould become a VP candidate. Well back to Obama, he has to be the son of Jesse and Blago. what else would explain his being linked to the shortcomings of these men and their families?

Why haven’t you written a piece about the lack of vetting of BHO by the media?
There was absolutely none, nada, zero, zilch.
There should be outrage on the part of any paying customer of the MSM that they didn’t do their jobs.
Hell, all it took for the media to send legions of investigators to Alaska was a small matter of two words: Sarah Palin.
To this day there are idiot left nuts who still think Dubya snorted cocaine because some media fool hinted at it.
If this were reversed and this sort of taint were around Dubya immeditately after the 2000 election it would be the aim of every journalist with a pulse to investigate everybody in Texas in search of a Pulitzer.

You See Corporal? Now what has Congressman Jackson, ever done, or said that would make this man from Georgia, who I am certain has NOT followed his career, say he is “Just so Dumb, or scummy”?
Congressman Jackson, holds 3 degrees, including a Doctorate of Divinity, he holds a Law Degree, and of course a Bachelor’s Degree Magna Cum Laude. His wife also holds a Law Degree as well.
He replaced a disgraced Congressman, and has served honorably for years. He mounted a run for Mayor of Chicago, but decided to stay in the Congress instead, the Daley Machine is still too powerful, evidence he is not the corrupt one……
He is a husband and father, and member in very good standing in his community. He is a “new generation” which over the years have been elected in Illinois to replace the old ones who seem steeped in corruption, and the people of Illinois and his district love Cong. Jackson and his counterpart, President Elect Obama. So exactly what makes him “so dumb” and so scummy?
You see Corporal, why I say Ray is a Racist Pig, and frankly, I hope he is a VERY old man, with limited time left….. The world will be a little nicer with him confined to history.
