Birthers, speak up now or forever hold your piece
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Patrick Ruffini, a Republican media and Internet strategist (and parttime blogger) has this to say to the birthers:
“The Obama citizenship smear hasn’t gained traction in mainstream conservative circles, but this is exactly the kind of stunt the left will use to tar all conservatives and silence legitimate criticism of Obama and his policies. We need to be vociferously calling out people who traffic in this nonsense.
Scandal stories didn’t get much traction during the campaign, so if we are smart, I am hopeful we won’t see a repeat of the ’90s opposition to Clinton, which was primarily scandal driven, and tarnished the Republican brand so that only Bush’s big-spending conservatism could save it. Which is got us in the pickle we are in today.”
Anybody know anybody who needs to get that message?
This will be the last thread on which birther nonsense can be posted. From here on out, it will be deleted.

Joey, I don’t know if this qualifies as a “subject matter” but I think it’s accurate to say that Jay does has a very short trigger on anything that smacks of race-baiting. He doesn’t tolerate it from the right or the left.
So a kind of precedent is there.

Jay
I see you are up to your anti-free speech again. How sad for someone in the press. This is beneath you.
In any case, before you did editorials were you an investigative or beat reporter? If so, I have one question for you to research.
What hosptial in Hawaii was Aytch born in? According to my research it should have been only one of two at the time.
Your help would be most appreciated as I want to contribute to a plaque for the hosptial to mark his birthplace.
BTW if you are wondering about the Aytch thing:
For eight years my liberal friends derogatorily referred to President Bush as Dubya. Since President Elect Obama has had a change of heart and has decided to use his middle name Hussein, I will now refer to him as Aytch.
P.S.
I accept your free speech challenge. Should you in the future delete my free speech for anything other than profanity, etc. I will take it up with your superiors to see if they agree. If you say it’s because a future post is off topic, you had better make sure every other liberal off topic is deleted also.
I may lose (after all the AJC is a liberal paper) but I am up to the challenge.

The whole birthplace thing is a canard, fabricated to distract from the real issues.
Speaking of which, I wonder if the Senate republicans would be so quick to drive the economy into the ditch by killing the auto bailout if they were going to be in charge and held accountable. Why let a few hundred thousand jobs get in the way of a stand on “principle”?
I guess we’ve returned to the old days, where the republican minority stood for small government because they had no real power and it sounded good.
By Doggone/GA

“stood for small government “
I would amend that to say: when they SAID they stood for small government
In the 6 years they were in charge they greatly INCREASED not only the size of the government, but also the size of the national debt and size of the budget.
They don’t stand for smaller government, they just pay the IDEA lip service, because…yes…it sounds good.

DB,
Doggone it, you’re right. Also, I was pointing out that Jay has deleted all future occurrences of FairTax[TM] by stating that he would not talk about it again. Well, he has not literally deleted them from the screen but the thought is the same. Of course, we could also examine Jay’s words more closely and find that he has left numerous escape routes (aside from the obvious ones such as “Well, just this one last time,” etc.) such as “birther nonsense”. Notice that if the posting is sensible it does not conform to this prerequisite for deletion.

Actually, Obama’s father is not African, but Kryptonian.
Jor-el made a rocket and sent his son to Earth when their giant green home planet exploded. Kal-el’s , Obama’s orignal name (sure sounds like a Muslim name!) original birth certificate was destroyed in the cataclysm.
This is why Obama has never been photographed near green glowing rocks. Pieces from his home planet can kill him, if they are too close.
Obama is actually over 75 earth-years old (almost as old as John Hensley-McCain).
He originally landed in Kansas, where he was raised by an elderly couple. Two members of the evil mainstream media were responsible for concocting the elaborate hoax and deception around Obama’s origins. Daily Planet reporters Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen were the very first ones aboard the Obama bandwagon, many many years ago…

An additional Birther Point
Now don’t get me wrong. As I said before, Aytch will be my president come January 20th. That’s a done deal.
Now …… the reason SCOTUS did not take the case was not because of its merits but because the plaintiff did not have standing to challenge the election/inauguration. The SCOTUS said he could not show he would be harmed……yet.
There are a lot of legal beagles who disagree with that but the SCOTUS gets the last word.
The real problem for the courts will come after Aytch is president. Why? Because then someone (probably a criminal defendant) will challenge his conviction, sentence or whatever based on a law that Aytch has signed. In other words, that person will have standing to at least make the challenge. And most of us know you can find a federal judge somewhere (liberal or conservative) to help you make your point.
This has the potential to dog Aytch and tie up the court system for his whole term.
International treaties, executive orders, etc. could also provide the same standing to individuals who are harmed thereby.
You know how attorneys are. They will milk this for all it is worth.
If you doubt me on this, Tip of the iceberg. Stay tuned.

He who pays the bills or adminstrates on behalf of the one who pays the bills can set pretty much any rules that he wants. As someone who pays monthly for the DNS that publishes my own website where I blog & post content of interest to me & governed by my own self-appointed guidelines, I would expect the AJC & Jay to do the same.
As I said yesterday, all circumstantial evidence (driver’s license, certification as candidate of major political party, etc.) would lead most to the conclusion that he is a citizen. Lacking evidence to the contrary, there really is no case. Obama would have no obligation to produce evidence to prove what is already commonly accepted. The burden of proof would be to prove his citizenship invalid (evidence of which I suspect would be difficult to find - if it even existed).
You may succeed in your challenge of that windmill, but I think we will be much more effective tilting in the arena of ideas.

It ain’t just here either-
The first KHQA report, on Nov. 5, said that Obama was “meeting with Governor Rod Blagojevich this afternoon in Chicago to discuss” the nomination. The second, three days later, said that the meeting had taken place. Never mind, KHQA now says:
KHQA TV wishes to offer clarification regarding a story that appeared last month on our website ConnectTristates.com. The story, which discussed the appointment of a replacement for President Elect Obama in the U.S. Senate, became the subject of much discussion on talk radio and on blog sites Wednesday.
The story housed in our website archive was on the morning of November 5, 2008. It suggested that a meeting was scheduled later that day between President Elect Obama and Illinois Governor Blagojevich. KHQA has no knowledge that any meeting ever took place. Governor Blagojevich did appear at a news conference in Chicago on that date.
How about that, someone got a threatening call from a certain organization that wished to censor away a whole event, just make your news archives stfu or else.

I’m waiting ………
To all of my liberal friends
Look, let’s be serious here. You and I are taxpayers. This probable future litigation after Aytch is president will be costly in terms of money, effort, court time, etc.
All of this can be cleared up by noon tomorrow!
How? Very simply. Aytch requests that the State of Hawaii release the extended, vault copy of his birth certificate which will indicate the hospital of record for his birth on Hawaii. Then, that can be quickly verified with that hospital’s records and we’re done!
That would show he was in fact born in Hawaii and his parents could have been from Mars (I know, Obami will say I’m from Mars) but it doesn’t matter.
How could there possibly be a problem with doing that?

This from the guy who started forty eleven threads bashing Sarah Palin.
I never did figure out why she threatened you libs so much. I still say it’s because she kills, dresses and eats her own food while the Obamas of the world swap food stamps for votes. Or it could be because she doesn’t abort babies and raises a family while leading a state.
(Stamping my feet)Gloria Steinham said you couldn’t do that, dammit!
Either way there was a time when you were starting three or four threads a day about her. LOL! That’s either the sign of a sick mind or a paranoid one.
Oh and BTW, that sort of obsession doesn’t hold a candle to the “birther” nonsense.
The reason the Constitution made American birth mandatory for the POTUS is because, at the time it was written, there was a real possibility of electing some British citizen who was loyal to the crown.

Censorship ensured that Germans could only see what the Nazi hierarchy wanted people to see, hear what they wanted them to hear and read only what the Nazis deemed acceptable. The Nazi police dealt with anyone who went outside of these boundaries. Censorship dominated the lives of the ordinary citizen in Nazi Germany.
The prime mover in censorship was the Minister of Propaganda, Joseph Goebbels. It was his responsibility to see that the German people were fed with material acceptable to the Nazi state. Newspapers, radio and all forms of media were put under the control of the Nazis. Even the film industry became controlled by the Nazis where the leading light was Leni Riefenstahl - who, though favoured by Hitler, did not enjoy a good relationship with Goebbels. Even telling jokes about Hitler became a serious offence - one to send you to the concentration camps and potentially death.

It won’t be much longer now. Our plan is coming together. Just be patient. Once Obama is sworn in we will allow the Republicans to find the special birth certificate that has been safely hidden away all this time. They’ll quickly realize that the law will have to be changed to allow Obama to legally remain president. Then, in the next election, we will run the Republican plant, Arnold, and our plan will finally come to fruition. Ah HA HA HA HA HAAAAAAA.

Internet censorship in the People’s Republic of China is conducted under a wide variety of laws and administrative regulations. In accordance with these laws, more than sixty Internet regulations have been made by the People’s Republic of China (PRC) government, and censorship systems are vigorously implemented by provincial branches of state-owned ISPs, business companies, and organizations.
The escalation of the government’s effort to neutralize critical online opinion comes after a series of large anti-Japanese, anti-pollution and anti-corruption protests, many of which were organized or publicized using instant messaging services, chat rooms, and text messages. The size of the Internet police is estimated at more than 30,000. Critical comments appearing on Internet forums, blogs, and major portals such as Sohu and Sina usually are erased within minutes.

Andy - I’ve asked you to stop calling me names.
This is at least the 10th time that I’ve asked this of you.
It says everything about you and nothing about me that you can’t make a valid point without resorting to name calling. That’s all you have in your arsenal. No wit. No truth. No point. Only name calling.
It’s not my fault that the incompetent drunk has a coke habit. Much like you have a nasty habit of calling people names.
Is that all you’ve got? is that the best you can do?
You’re all over this blog throwing grenades and having a hissy fit because Jay has thrown down the gauntlet.

Wouldn’t it be just perfect for the right to get Obama disqualified on a technical matter, birth certificate, associations, church affiliations ect. Then until the end of time, it could always be brought up when an African American tried to attain something above his station, “you remember when that old Obama boy slipped up”? I’m glad this Blago situation is playing out the way it is, because whichever way the cookie crumbles, we’ll in some measure put to rest Obama’s supposed Chicago corrupt connections, either he’s in or he’s out. Maybe McCain/Palin could be installed as de facto prez and VP if Obama’s out of the way, maybe this country could be rolled back to 1958. Heck who knows, maybe all of us African Americans could be ruled non-citizens.

A couple of points sir:
1) An African American president has been long over due and I have been waiting to vote for one. I had just hoped he would be a Republican.
2) If Obama was born in Kenya and is not a U.S. citizen, it would NOT be a technical matter. The highest office in the land is not to be taken lightly - it is a Constitutional matter.
3) If he had missed the cut off date for his age by one day, what would have happened? Would he have had to wait for years or would it be o.k. to fudge his birthdate?
4) The Constitution is a legal document, a contract, between the American people and their government. It is not to be cheapened for anyone or any reason.
5) Finally sir, I will ask you. No one else will do so. Why won’t he just state for the record the name of the hospital he was born in. Is that such an impossible question to answer?

Send all of your contacts in Washington an e-mail. Pull some strings. Call in some favors. Get on the phone and talk to some of those special people you know. Remind each of them of the time that you almost took a bullet for them or at least you would have if one had ever come your way. Tell them about your years of service and how you deserve to know. Call your General buddies and invite them over for drinks. Get them drunk and then start grilling them. Water board them if you have to but don’t give up. Fight, Corporal. Aytch and his staff have been asked many times. It’s a two word reply that would take two seconds.
Reminds me of the many times I would ask a counterfeiting suspect, “we’re you in such and such mall yesterday about 5pm”? The suspect didn’t have to answer that question and they usually didn’t. But their non-answer spoke volumes and as a result the investigation for the truth continued.

I know why you think the way you do. No hard feelings. It’s o.k. because you don’t really understand my background.
1) I’m not crazy or senile (yet). It’s just my training and lifelong career. You are taught to ask the same questions over and over again to suspects. Wear them down. Keep at it. Keep coming back and back and back. Don’t you watch cop shows? Many will eventually give up the information you want. It takes persistance. The guys who were really good at solving cases never gave up on the pressure ………..
Now, does that help ?
2) But you were born in the U.S. right? That’s all we’re trying to establish here.
3) By the way. Did you ever read the Berg vs. Obama affidavit? It’s not that long and you really should. Remember, the Supreme Court turned it down because they determined Berg did not have standing - not on its merits. Once Obama is sworn in and signs his first bill into law, millions will have “standing”.

Here I try to be nice and give you a good explanation and that is what I get? We should be able to have an adult debate.
Now who is being a little odd now ?
To ByteMe
Oh, I would love to because you know:
1) The Apostle Paul strongly condemned the slave trade. Surely you know what he called slavetraders and the category of people he put them in.
1 Timothy 1:10 (New International Version)… for adulterers and perverts, for slave traders and liars and perjurers — and for whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine.
2) And of course Jesus told the woman taken in adultery (that the Jewish leaders were getting ready to stone under O.T. law), “neither to I condemn you (by stoning) but go and sin no more.”
3) I’m ready. Scripture and verse please and we’ll hash it out.
By ByteMe
December 11, 2008 11:30 PM | Link to this
Paul might condemned the slave trade, but there’s LOTS of other folks in the Bible — old and new — who had them nonetheless.
And you think maybe the “New International Version” was written by man? Could it be wrong? Is that a possibility? Could the “King James” version also be wrong in its interpretation of the original language constructs?
Jesus also had no trouble creating family out of the misfits and outcasts in society. The same folks “good Christians” like to condemn these days.

Thanks for your reply:
1) The Bible was written by man but inspired by the Holy Spirit. The O.T. was originally written in Hebrew and the N.T. in Greek. The Dead Sea Scrolls proved how accurate the O.T. Translations are. We have many parchments and pieces of the N.T. in Greek going back to within just a few years extant of the original manuscripts. Once you get to about 50 years out (about 125 A.D.) we have the entire N.T.
By comparison, the next best example is the Illiad by Homer. The time frame between the original manuscript (lost to antiquity) and the earliest copy is 500 years! Yet no one questions its accuracy.
Modern translations by scholars are the best ever……even more accurate than the King James. If God left us His Word (and I believe He did) I also think He left it accurately. God is a God of order not confusion.
2) One must distinguish between the O.T. (the age of Law) and the N.T. (the age of Grace). God gave the Law to show man they could not keep it and then sent the Messiah (Jesus) to show the way of Grace. O.T. laws were harsh. God gets to make the rules. Jesus came to show Grace and the N.T. proclaims the difference. We live under Grace now ….. not Law.
3) Any verse taken out of context is no text.
An elementary example. What does the verse “lay hands suddenly on no man” mean? Don’t grab someone or you will get in a fight? No. Read it in it’s context and it means to not ordain (the laying on of hands) someone as a deacon or pastor without testing and watching them first.
Also, is the verse in question to be taken literally, symbolically or is it typology. Sometimes there are dual applications.
4) Slavery was a world-wide reality in the days of Paul. A lot of people even sold themselves into slavery to keep from starving. Paul did not preach rebellion. He counseled slaves to work for their masters as they would for God and they would be rewarded. He counseled slave owners to treat their slaves with compassion as brothers in Christ knowing that they too had a Master in Heaven who would hold them accountable. In a day when the goverment did nothing for people, that type of society was better than starving, etc. At the same time he condemned the “slave trade”. You must judge it by its time in history.
5) Jesus welcomed all who would come to Him on His terms. “I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” “Except ye believe in Me, you are dead in your sins.” Pretty narrow minded.
He loved all including the outcasts but He called it like it was ……… thus He told the woman taken in adultery to go and sin no more. Sin? Yes, He used that word often.
How about this? We know that the disciples were an tough lot. At least two were thieves (Judas Iscariot stole from their money bag and Matthew was a tax collector for the Romans). One was a brawler (Peter) with a foul mouth. One was a Zealot (part of the resistance who killed Romans). Do you think a couple cheated on their wives? Probably. Do you think one might have been Homosexual? Possible.
But guess what? They all left their life of sin to follow Him …….. they never became perfect (just forgiven) but they worked at it.
6) Good Christians realize they are sinners also but try to tell the truth in love as Jesus did. To not do so is to betray the Gospel.
II Timothy 4:3 “For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.”
7) I will happy to continue this discussion with you on this blog subject as long as you want to but :
a) Be aware that Jay may censor us (even though he likes you as a liberal) because he doesn’t want his sites discussing religion, etc.
b) I will only do so if we have reasonably polite debate and respect each other’s views.
c) I am a Southern Baptist Deacon who has taught adult Sunday School for 40 years. That doesn’t mean I know everything - far from it - but it does mean come prepared for class ……….. and be willing to change your mind and accept truth when you see it …………….. :o)

I was born and raised right here in Georgia. I was born in a hospital like many white people were at the time. Of course anyone that knows anything about the south also knows that blacks had a hard enough time finding a seat on a bus or a stool at a counter or a water fountain or bathroom to use. Hospitals catered to people with money first, whites second and blacks rarely. There were plenty of poor whites in the south that gave birth at home and a whole lot of blacks that did the same. The most common record of birth was what one found printed on those reserved pages in the family bible. That’s the way it was pretty much up into the ’60s in most of the south. It was about that time that the Federal government stepped in and brought the sad news to most folks that we were starting to lose the war of northern aggression. To this day, some military types struggle with accepting this fact so we try to console them and aid them with a bent ear in their twilight years.

That point has some validity.
1) And why did he want them to evangelize?
20 And since you brought up Paul, I assume you agree with his instructions to his young disciple Timothy:
“1In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: 2Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage — with great patience and careful instruction.”
I too accept that charge and sometimes that means correcting and rebuking always based on God’s Word.
