We are not talking about some illegal immigrant wanting to work for a living. We are talking about a person who wants to be president of the United States. Tell me again why he will not produce a valid document that confirms that he was born in the United States of America. The document he produced was nothing but a confirmation that a birth certificate existed. It was not the real thing and it was questionably altered. Just give us the proof and we will quiet down, not make another sound and let him get on with his FDR agenda to save our country. Tell me why this isn’t valid.

Obama posted his birth certificate on the web some time ago — and it was certified as authentic by the State of Hawaii.

Yet the drumbeat persists.

Where have you been? Anyone with a “well toned derriere” should be more vocal. Denied patients pain meds? You can do better than that. Afraid is not the word of the day. Obama could have put the quietus on this issue by simply presenting the birth certificate. Instead, his birth records are sealed in Hawaii AND Kenya. His grandmother said she was in the delivery room in Kenya when Obama was born. This issue is not about sore losers but about the U.S. Constitution. Alan Keyes is the most articulate presidential candidate I’ve run across in the past 20 years. He is doing the country an ENORMOUS service with this. Obama needs to prove he can meed the conditions outlined in the document before he can serve.

You know, I always thought this birth certificate thing was a toy for the fringe wingnuts to play with but now that Bookman has propagandized on it’s behalf, He Who Hardly Ever Tells the Truth, I too am starting to have my doubts-

Three months later, no other “reporters” have ever received a copy of this “birth certificate” image, or any other birth certificate image, for that matter, from Tommy Vietor or any one else. To reiterate, there has been one, and only one, image alleged to have been scanned from Obama’s “original birth certificate,” and that the only people alleged to have received a copy of this document image from the Obama Campaign have been (1) Markos Moulitsas, the creator of the Daily Kos, a pro-Obama blog, and (2) FactCheck, a pro-Obama political research group.

What they’ve “disclosed” is a Certification of Live Birth which, and you can go look at yours if you don’t believe me, is supposed to be a Certificate of Live Birth, not a “Certification.”

Hmmmmmm.

I’ve got some researching to do.

“Certified by the State of Hawaii”. Right. Lived in Hawaii for 25 years. Sort of know the mechanics behind the politics in that state. They have a Rebub governer for the first time in their history. All the rest, liberal at it’s worst. Do you think for one minute that some government “keeper of the documents” is going to volunteer any information that would upset the election of the Wonder Boy? If you do, then……. Just show proof, then everyone will be happy, we will not mention it again and we can get on with where we have to be. Uh-huh, this is easier than I thought-

To anyone not born in Hawaii, Obama’s “original birth certificate” looked nothing like what a traditional birth certificate should look like (such as the one above). At a minimum, original birth certificates contained the names of the hospital where the child was born and the doctor who delivered the baby. Birth certificates also had signatures and stamps or embossed seals on them that certified their validity. By the second week of this controversy, the American public discovered that this type of document was not a photocopy of an original birth certificate completed at birth, but was, instead, a shortened transcript of a person’s birth record.

Uh Houston, we got a problem.

This issue will not be going away. Obama has been dishonest and secretive about his past. Anybody with a bit of common sense knows that online documents can be altered (as the factcheck docs appear to have been). True he has unknown docs on file in Hawaii, but he also has unknown sealed docs on file in Kenya. Why does he have sealed docs in KENYA??? I could go on an on. If he has nothing to hide, release the documents!

Any text made by a typewriter, laser printer, or even inkjet printer, on a piece of colored paper, would have that color showing between the letters. When the paper is digitally scanned, it would still have some of that color showing between the letters. What it would not have, are only smeared, black & white pixels between them. Pixels are the dots that combine to make a digital image or photo. There would always be several pixels bearing the same color as the paper. Printed type produced by a graphics program will look about the same regardless of the magnification, with a minimal number of white and grey pixel patterns between the letters.

I finally found an Obama site that agrees with the one side liberal press. Today the Bussian newspaper Pravda reported that they do not believe Obama is a natural born citizen to become the next president. I expect that once the get the “true” birth certificate locked in the Hawaii vault Obama will have no leverage in settling world conflicts at our expense. Pravda even mentioned that he didn’t have time to give one of his grandmas a burial and instead left her on ice for a burial later in the year. Yes we all have our priorities, even his wife and children had no time to visit the ailing grandmother while she was still breathing. The apparently forged birth document on the Internet. No hospitals in HI have record of his birth. A copy of the genuine birth certificate has been withheld from SCOTUS Kenyan ambassador asserted that his birthplace is in Kenya. etc. etc. This is not like the conspiracy of the 1950’s with UFO’s beind rationalized as weather balloons!! Who is a natural-born citizen? Who, in other words, is a citizen at birth, such that that person can be a President someday?

Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is an alien and as long as the other parent is a citizen of the U.S. who lived in the U.S. for at least five years (with military and diplomatic service included in this time)

The supreme court justice jobs are to defend the constitution the rights upon which this country is founded. If this insn’t important enough for them to review then what is. This is a example of how flagerant obama’s regard is for our country and it’s laws. I am a American citizen and can produce my birth records why can’t he. If he is exempt from the laws now …you may as well throw the whole constitution and our regard for it out the window… Why don’t you try writing about something that america is based upon and standing up for your country instead of looking the other way?

Off topic, but lost in all the missing birth certificate ( I think its in that book depository in Dallas) hullabaloo is the fact that the new Secretary of the VA is Eric Shinseki.

He could be the best thing that has happened to the VA in years. (Especially after the current chicken hawk chest-pounders who have done a fine job in creating an army of maimed vets, broken families and orphans.) He looks like a very forward thinking, stand up guy.

Remember he was the Chief of Staff of the United States Army that Dumsfeld and Wolfoshitz said of his estimate of several hundred thousand troops to adequately secure post-invasion Iraq as “wildly off the mark”.

And almost immediately the giant scale looting began auguring in the clusterf&ck that was/is BushCo’s War.

Apparently Rummy was a fan of “wire-brushing”Shinseki and others - berating high level officers, chewing them out, typically in a public way that was demeaning to their stature. It’s pinning their ears back, throwing out question after question you know they can’t answer correctly and then attacking every single syllable they toss up.

Class act. No wonder he may go down in American history as the worst SecDef ever .

At least one other appeal over Obama’s citizenship remains at the court. Philip J. Berg of Lafayette Hill, Pa., argues that Obama was born in Kenya, not Hawaii as Obama says and the Hawaii secretary of state has confirmed. Berg says Obama also may be a citizen of Indonesia, where he lived as a boy.

This question could be so easily answered, just like any other American citizen would.

It’s a question of whether a person meets the Constitutional requirements to be the President of all American citizens so it would seem we should all have standing.

Um, the issue is not about the birth certificate or even where he was born. It’s his dual citizenship that Obama finally admitted he had at birth that’s the issue. But you obamanites wouldn’t know anything about that since you know less about him than most. Don’t believe he had dual citizenship? Go to fight the smears site and search for birth certificate. It says it right there on his site, of course the media missed reporting on that…odd. So he can’t be a natural born citizen

The straight skinny on Tucker’s and Franklin’s relationship is that the state of Hawii ripped Obama’s birth certificate in two, and gave each woman a half to keep on her person at all times. The minute that either woman becomes detached from the other, Obama’s presidency becomes null and void.

I hear you but :

Most people (especially those on this blog) do not understand what the issue was all about.

1) It wasn’t about not being a U.S. citizen if he was born in Hawaii. Of course he would be.

2) It wasn’t about the birth certificate on it’s face. Of course it could be a valid piece of paper requested after his Mom returned from Kenya (which was permissable at that time under Hawaii law).

3) The question has always been was he born in Kenya (as an aunt once said) and then brought to Hawaii very soon after.

Now, all of that said, the SCOTUS as a body has made its decision NOT to go any farther into this question. I’m sure they have their reasons. There are many Supreme Court decisions that I do not like but we are a nation of laws and we must respect the decision as we did when Bush won the first election.

This case is closed.

Why do our leaders chose not to demand that Obama produce an original birth certificate? Why is the Constitution not important? I think it’s high time we bar licensed attorneys entirely from serving in anything except the Judiciary and in private practice.

Remember - it was really never about just the birth certificate (which could be valid on its face under Hawaii law at that time) even though he might have been born in Kenya. His mother could have filed for the certificate immediately upon her (and his) return to Hawaii. Many people did just that.

To my knowledge the hospital of his birth or attending physician has never been supplied (easy enough to do).

But ……… it’s over and we must move on.

The best rational argument I’ve seen is this: The critical constitutional question hinges on the adjective “natural born,” and in that phrase we have two important words, “natural,” and “born.” To be a “natural citizen” is to be a citizen naturally, or in specific legal terms to be a citizen whose citizenship does not require naturalization. To be a “natural born” citizen then is to be a citizen from birth whose citizenship is natural, as opposed to naturalized. So even granting all the lies that the crazy precincts of the right are telling about the specific circumstances of Obama’s birth, he would still pass the test that results from any reasonable reading of the Constitution. Is Obama a U.S. citizen? Yes. (The rightwing crazies rely on arguments the inevitable conclusion of which are that Obama is a citizen of no country, which of course is absurd even within the limits of their logic.) Does Obama’s citizenship stem from a process of naturalization sometime after his birth? No. Therefore he is a natural-born citizen and the Constitution has been satisfied.

yes, if his mother was American (regardless of when Hawaii was accepted into the union), then he’s American. If he wanted to be Kenyan, or if he wanted dual citizenship, then he should’ve taken steps towards these things when he turned 18. It’s too late now, so he’s only american. I know this because I was born in France, to American parents, while my dad was in Vietnam.

But, how bout a deal??? We’ll lean on Obama to release whatever documents you wingnuts are wailing about, if W will release documents detailing his whereabouts while he was supposed to be serving his time in the Alabama Air National Guard, when he was deferred from going to Vietnam…

If the President Elect would enthusiastically at once signal Hawaii and produce in a Presidential tone a legitimate,transparent public disclosure of the documents in question to be viewed, touched, handled and examined by all of those interested, I would not be writing this right now, neither would there be any lawsuits, and the right and the left would not be squabbling at each other. I have been a Christian for thirty years. The God whom I serve, Jesus Christ, is The One who never deals with the symptom of a situation, He always goes right straight to the root. The birth certificate deal, natural born or not, born in Kenya or born in the USA, are simply symptoms. The root is that which is cloaked in the mysterious darkness of something hidden. What triggers our President elect to have 20 lawsuits at the cost of one million dollars served upon himself in order to evade and conceal, instead of producing a 10.00 dollar document that would squelch all lawsuits once and forever more, silence the blogosphere, and stop the bickering amongst right wing nuts and liberal kooks. Is he knowingly running for, and assuming an office, in the which he is not eligible? This is the definition of an usurper. If he is totally innocent and pure he should enthusiastically summon for his documentation at once and put all dissenting voices such as mine to rest. I would certainly welcome it. No one can convince me that in an era of extreme documentation, several web site images of a Hawaii document and a group of individuals posting jpeg photos of a certification of live birth is sufficient proof for the eligibility to the presidency of this great nation! If I was to need a driver’s license and needed my birth certificate, I could not guide the officials to a web site to look at the image of my birth certificate, as valid proof? Could you, or would you? Mute silence has been the case now since August 21. A leader, rather, has the duty to boldly, wholeheartedly, openly, transparently, and forthrightly display the needed documentation to the public whom he will serve, in order to gain its trust in the integrity of his leadership. You may call it loser or anything else, but I’m at least retired american military fighting man, born in the U.S.A.,served my country and deserve the right to know that served my country and upheld the Constitution of the United States. Have you ever served in the military? The Supreme Court has become a joke-money talks-buys the best mud slingers, get on TV enough tell the folks what they want to hear. My dad use to say you can fool some of the people part of the time, but you can’t fool all the people all the time. At least McCain was born on a US base, born to a US family serving overseas. All that is being asked is for Senator Obama to show his real birth certificate.

The birth certificate that has been released is a fake.

It is not. It is the state of Hawaii’s certification that Obama was born there. It’s the same one my husband got to get his passport. The original from the hospital was NOT acceptable because back then it didn’t have the state seal on it. The state doesn’t put ALL the information on it, but they put enough on it to satisfy Obama’s eligibility.

The law allowing them to do that passed in 1982. Mrs. Obama didn’t have that option.

None of the hospitals in Hawaii have any record of Barack Obama being born there in 1961.

Because of federal health-record privacy laws, no hospital can tell you whether or not they have a record of someone. Just try to call any hospital and ask for someone’s birth records. Just because they won’t confirm it for anyone who asks doesn’t mean there IS no record.

Dear Jay, I was reading your article about the Obama birth certificate, and found it very interesting. I am not a sore looser, but I feel that it is very important to follow the rules. We have rules set in place so that there will not be chaos in society. I am a teacher, and I teach my students that it is very important to follow the rules. We do this so that the students can coexist in our school environment. When we make acceptions to the rules, then our environment is shattered. I don’t know if you have children or not, but I would be amiss if I thought that you did not have rules in your household. We must have a standard. There must be a level of understanding that we all must have and are willing to accept. Those that are not able to follow the rules should be in one of two places, jail or the cemetary, not congress.

I have been following the evidence about B.O.’s B.C. A certificate was posted on the Internet that had apparently been issued to B.O.’s relation Maya Soetero who was born in Jakarta, Indonesia. I have not seen any comments about how this B.C. was obtained and how it subsequently appeared as an altered document on the website.
It must be in the interest of both Democrats and Republicans to ensure that their future president can legally hold that office.
