Silk boxer shorts? Spray tanners?

You know, this is so far over the top that it’s bizarre. I’d honestly like to have some sympathy for Sarah Palin as a naive but ambitious person who was plucked out of obscurity and placed suddenly in the harsh glare of the national spotlight. You don’t have to want her as president or vice president to feel bad for someone who is thrown into shark-infested waters and told to swim.

She was so naive that she didn’t have a clue about how naive she was, and that’s not her fault.

But this is really excessive. Says the Washington Post:

“On top of the $150,000 first outlined in Federal Election Commission filings, Palin spent “tens of thousands of dollars” on additional clothing, makeup and jewelry for herself and her family, including $40,000 in luxury goods for her husband, Todd, our colleague Michael Shear reports. The campaign was charged for silk boxer shorts, spray tanners and 13 suitcases to carry all the designer clothes, according to two GOP insiders.

“The shopping continued after the convention in Minneapolis, it continued all around the country,” one source said. “She was still receiving shipments of custom-designed underpinnings up to her ‘Saturday Night Live’ performance” in October. Sources said expenses were put on the personal credit cards of low-level Palin staffers and discovered when they asked party officials for reimbursement.”

Well what do you know?

The baracuda wears Prada.

What I want to know is, were the low-level staffers whose credit cards were charged up stiffed with this bill? Was this unusual practice for the campaign, i.e. were they supposed to be comped?

And what’s really pressing are questions like, should an emergency room in this the most affluent country in the world turn away a patient who’s having a pefectly legitimate fashion emergency? Especially when she has a SNL gig coming up? Ah the questions, the questions.

For my estranged husband, RW:

Obama telephones Mrs. Reagan

By MIKE ALLEN | 11/7/08 7:03 PM EST

President-elect Barack Obama telephoned Nancy Reagan shortly after his debut news conference on Friday to apologize for what he called a “careless and off handed remark” he made about her during his appearance in Chicago.

President-elect Obama Transition Team Spokesperson Stephanie Cutter said: “President-elect Barack Obama called Nancy Reagan today to apologize for the careless and off handed remark he made during today’s press conference. The President-elect expressed his admiration and affection for Mrs. Reagan that so many Americans share and they had a warm conversation.”

Obama had been asked whether he has “spoken to any living ex-presidents” as part of getting ready for the job.

His reply: “In terms of speaking to former presidents, I’ve spoken to all of them that are living. Obviously, President Clinton — I didn’t want to get into a Nancy Reagan thing about, you know, doing any seances.”

Donald Regan, a White House chief of staff to President Ronald Reagan, disclosed in his memoir that his wife had consulted an astrologer during her White House years. The former president later said no decision had been impacted.

Bob Woodward wrote in “The Choice” that Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.), then first lady, had held imaginary conversations with Eleanor Roosevelt with the help of a spiritual adviser. The White House denied news accounts referring to “séances.”

Obama’s slip instantly received heavy air play, and he was criticized by conservative radio hosts.

It was a sour note in an otherwise well-reviewed appearance.

There has been a big chance that a lib was going to get elected to the White House for almost a year now.

Everything was relatively cool as long as Bruno was the choice because at least the Klintons were just perverts instead of full blown Maoists.

But sure enough, the libs went and picked the stark raving socialist.

And the economy has been tanking ever since.

Betcha didn’t know that when the mortgage lenders were whining to Pelosi that THEY HAD! TO HAVE 700 BILLION OR ELSE! their lending activity for that period increased nearly 15%?

Or that they took the first installment on the 700 bill and stuffed it under their pillows?

I know why the markets are plummeting and people are getting laid off.

“According to a complaint later filed by the Securities and Exchange Commission, Freddie Mac, known formally as the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, misreported profits by billions of dollars in order to deceive investors between the years 2000 and 2002.”

Junior staffers credit cards were used? And the people who approve of their expenses were not aware? Does that sound fishy to anybody (or everybody who’s ever worked in the real world, ie not liberals). I’m calling BS on the whole story Jay. Joe the Dumber opened his self up when, he took the microphone and calling folks names he can’t define. A licensed plumber in Toledo would only make about $35 -$40 an hour, so that would bring un-licensed Joe in at about half that. Why in the world would this lying idiot be worried paying taxes on a business he obviously can’t afford?

JAY

Who’s vain? LOL! You almost nominated this guy and all you can talk about is Sarah Palin’s dresses. Twisted, you are my friend.

Instead, you nominated - and elected - a man who’s only prior accomplishment was getting himself elected president of the Harvard Law Review. Hmmm, and we never saw a single article that he wrote for the publication. Strange.

When he stutters in front of heads of state like he did in that speech I just saw him make I’m sure we’ll all feel the “change”.

Amazing. The election is over people. Take the asshats off and move along. No need to be A-holes to each other any more.

Obama is now our President-elect, and WILL BE our President for the next 4 years. Nothing’s going to change that fact so both Repub and Dem supporters need to start acting like adults. Repubs should shut up with the Obama the muslim, socialist, ‘he wasn’t born here’ garbage, and the Dems should stop belittling our current President.

Besides, all this ranting and raving does is further the divide.

Did Blacks Tank Gay Marriage in California?

November 07, 2008 6:50 PM

“ABC News’ Alex Green Reports: Barack Obama won the presidential election on Tuesday but did the Democrats’ win contribute to the passage of a measure banning gay marriage in California?

Blacks, by in large, oppose gay marriage. Therefore, proposition eight banning gay marriage in a Democratic-leaning state such as California passes 52-48 percent. Blacks voted for it, overwhelmingly, 70-30.”

Oh, those evil, mean, wicked, discriminatory, holier than thou, church going, homophobic black people in California. How in the world are we ever going to enlighten them?

“Keep up with the Palin-bashing because Gov. Palin and the GOP will have the last laugh in 2012!”

They will. In a Motel 6 south of Tifton. The Elephant Cult. And they’ll roll the pizza delivery boy for his loose change.

Seriously Management. Just who do you think you’re influencing with your rants?

You’re hurting the cause worse than Bill O’Crybaby.

I agree with many of your points of view but the vile way you state things makes me second guess.

Are you really a liberal tool?

Dude, get a dog.

The Republinazi Party is a national party no more. Soon the Taliban will start giving guidelines for membership in the Republinazi Party. Those not abiding will become independents or something else. Hopefully, they’ll run Palin back out for some more abuse in 2012. That ought to put some stank on it!

She particularly lashed out at the anonymous Republican campaign sources cited in a Fox News report who said she did not know Africa was a continent, not a country, and could not name the three countries in the North American Free Trade Agreement —- Canada, the United States and Mexico.

“I consider it cowardly” that they did not allow their names to be used, she said, insisting anything she said had been taken out of context.-Urinal/ Gay Eye For The Straight Guy

Anonymous, eh?

What are we talking about, a bag over their head and a clothespin clasped across their nostrils?

Come on, we all know who the “leakers” are, from where I come, we call them dimocrats.

Duh.

Let’s review:

Deomcrats shout out to Republicans that Sarah Palin is what cause you to lose the election. Some Republicans join with the Democrats in a effort to bring Palin down.

The Dims are doing it because they are afraid that if Palin survives she will lead the surge that takes them out of power in 4 years.

The Republicans who are participating are afraid that she will expose and dispose of them like she did the corrupt Republicans in Alaska.

Either way, Sarah Palin is a threat to people who are a threat to the U.S.

Sarah Palin is the George W. Bush of 2008, incompetent, ill-prepared and nowhere near ready to be president. Obvious as it is to any casual observer, she doesn’t even know how lacking she is. She really beleives she has the right stuff. If she had a realistic thought in her head she would’ve declined McCain’s invitation to be his running mate. She’s getting exactly what she deserves, ridicule. No sympathy here.

Had McCain/Palin actually won the election,Mrs. Palin’s wardrobe would have been deemed the wisest money ever spent. The sour grapes of losing cast it in a completely different light.Republicans are casting around for any scapegoat they can find to pin the blame on.Failed policies, failed administrations, don’t count.

I’ll leave you with this thought. If she can steal $150,000 from a bunch of theiving politicians, she isn’t any dumb hick.

How many more anonymous rumors is Bookman going to push in his quest to demonstrate what a small and petty partisan he is?

Is this the future of the Bookman columns? Unable to discuss anything other than his partisan hatred fro Republicans, will he just talk about Palin for the next four years.

No wonder the AJC is dying at the fastest rate among all major newspapers. They feature petty and small partisans like Bookman.

Excellent post, Mike! First intelligent post yet. Jay is so obsessed with his hatred of all things Republican (and in particular Sarah Palin) that he continuously posts these anonymous reports that obviously come from staffers with an agenda. Nevermind that NAMED sources who were true insiders are disputing them left and right. But let’s not print any of these NAMED sources who are defending her, Jay.
