RealityKing, you ignorant glut, why the hell can’t you just leave it alone? I know you’re all whiny today because intelligent Americans let it be known the U.S. can get along without Sarah Palin. But you didn’t have a damn thing to say and you said it sooo poorly. Just take your sad a** over to Wooten’s where it belongs and don’t come around polite company again until you learn how to act.

We show that kind of dignity by not taunting republicans in their loss. Not all liberals refrain from taunting, but most do. There are enough bad feelings in this world without a lot of unconstructive gloating and taunting.

Condolezza Rice has class.

I have felt for her as Secretary of State at times, because I feel she’s been put in too many untenable positions by the ambitious aggressions of the Bush administration, but I hope in the future she can continue in some capacity to serve the country with her considerable leadership abilities, grace and intelligence.

“Reality King?”

What hope does this country have, when people insist on pointing fingers and calling names?

Name an instance where “liberals” are incapable of showing dignity???

Please-I know you’re angry and upset…but the bottom line is, you’d better figure out a way to make it work-you’ve got four years to deal with this outcome.

Keep talking the language of divisiveness. Nothing will change….

I’m glad Condi has acknowledged what this means for her race. She’s acknowledged little else about the struggles her race has dealt with. Her comment makes me wonder-did she vote Mc-P as she hinted? Or did she see the handwriting on the wall, and decide that party lines sometimes are meant to be crossed?

Words from our dignified next President:

“Let us resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long. Let us remember that it was a man from this state who first carried the banner of the Republican Party to the White House - a party founded on the values of self-reliance, individual liberty, and national unity. Those are values we all share, and while the Democratic Party has won a great victory tonight, we do so with a measure of humility and determination to heal the divides that have held back our progress. As Lincoln said to a nation far more divided than ours, We are not enemies, but friends…though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection. And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn - I may not have won your vote, but I hear your voices, I need your help, and I will be your President too.” — President-elect Barack Obama, Nov. 4, 2008.

I do not like liberals, but I will support the President of the United States. It is he that will lose my support by his actions and by his agenda. If the President of the United States holds dear to himself only special interest groups and selects to dishonor the forefathers of this great country and elects to change the constitution by any means, I will abandon him with no hesitation. The President of the United States must not lie to me because I will make the liberals sound like the mute.

And before I’m accused of being right wing I don’t agree with a lot of what Bush has done in the past 8 years but he deserves as much respect as all the Democrats are now demanding for Obama.

Sounds like you need a good course in how our country is governed and how the Constitution is mananged. Doesn’t matter how much, or IF, a president WANTS to change the Constitution - HE CAN’T DO IT. So you can rest easy on that score at least.

And has it ever occurred to the POS Bush administration that they are still “in charge” of the Justice Department and that perhaps some voter fraud investigations are in order?

You know, something like checking each ballot for repeated names or maybe even checking New York’s voter database against Florida’s to see how many libs voted in both states?

But ignoring the nouns for a minute, Nader was point-point-point in his followup of why he thinks Obama’s just another corporatist. Any comment on the points he made? Expanding the military and catering to the military-industrial complex? Refusing to entertain a single-payer medical system because of the influence of HMOs and their money?

I’ve noted before how Obama wants to expand the military to provide more troops for intervention around the world, supports continuing multibillion-dollar weapons systems…. I guess 58 percent of the discretionary budget isn’t enough?

I think Ms. Rice has, over her years in office, learned some hard but valuable lessons from the school of hard knocks. I have doubts that she is anywhere near the same person that she was when she took office. Transitioning a “new hire” into such a job and getting that person up to speed is a challenge in and of itself and one that she, as a quick study, is well equipped to handle but the more difficult aspects of such a position are only learned over time while serving. In hindsight, perhaps the better course of action would have been to place someone with more “appropriate” experience in that job for there was certainly a “weakness” created that was ripe for exploitation by the “right” people. So, one might naturally ask if another such weakness might be opened up with the next round of appointments. Just things to consider.

from Paul Krugman of the NYT - a real journalist, a real newspaper…

The monster years Last night wasn’t just a victory for tolerance; it wasn’t just a mandate for progressive change; it was also, I hope, the end of the monster years.

What I mean by that is that for the past 14 years America’s political life has been largely dominated by, well, monsters. Monsters like Tom DeLay, who suggested that the shootings at Columbine happened because schools teach students the theory of evolution. Monsters like Karl Rove, who declared that liberals wanted to offer “therapy and understanding” to terrorists. Monsters like Dick Cheney, who saw 9/11 as an opportunity to start torturing people.

And in our national discourse, we pretended that these monsters were reasonable, respectable people. To point out that the monsters were, in fact, monsters, was “shrill.”

Four years ago it seemed as if the monsters would dominate American politics for a long time to come. But for now, at least, they’ve been banished to the wilderness.

A great outcome of the Obama/Biden admin would be to limit the “mainstream” media from showing outright bias of opinion. As Joe Friday said, “Just the facts”. I would say the same if the “mainstream” media held a similar biases in favor of the Republican party. No more polls for prediction to try and discourage voters. Just the facts presented by the candidates. No more “unbiased” opinions from George Stephanopolis (sp?). Now if you are informing the people of your outright slant (Rush, Shane H., … or the liberal slanted folks) then I say go for it. Atleast they have the honesty to say what they really are. The Stevens thing especially makes one really wonder about the moral, intellectual state of mind of many of the people there.

They’ll apparently disregard the fact he is a convicted felon and send him right back to DC, so he can then be likely expelled by the US Senate.(???)

Indeed, the only good thing about McCain is that he gave us a genuine conservative, Sarah Palin. He’s like one of those insects that lives just long enough to reproduce so that the species can survive. That’s why a lot of us are referring to Sarah as “The One” these days.

Like Sarah Connor in “The Terminator,” Sarah Palin is destined to give birth to a new movement. That’s why the Democrats are trying to kill her. And Arnold Schwarzenegger is involved somehow, too. Good Lord, I’m tired.

This one is just as good-

We conservatives need to face the new political reality soberly — we are out — but we can also face the future with optimism. Our principles were embraced by every single GOP primary candidate, even President-Elect Obama, who spent half his time championing tax cuts, fiscal discipline and a strong national defense, all promises we know he’ll break, but promises he needed to make to win the election.-Brent Bozell

BO, I guess I’m missing something here. Are you asking me if I care what you think about Biden?

The flat-earth society and the boys (they are not men) who brought you the modern crusades had their run.

But they are thankfully toast. Milquetoast. Melba toast. Burnt toast.

And as Gerald Ford said, “My fellow Americans, our long national nightmare is over. Our Constitution works; our great Republic is a government of laws and not of men. Here the people rule.”

So the nation will busy itself to undo the vast damage and imperious edicts of King George IV.

Now just sit back neo-cons and enjoy the show. I won’t ask you to accept your large losses with some modicum of dignity, accountability or class. Just keep losing.

And for all of you big-time Al Gore fans out there.

Good news, methinks you’ll be seeing a lot more of him. ;-)

I can’t agree with you.

The vast majority of Real Americans cut Bush a break at first.

Then 9/11 happened.

I stood up in the front room and loudly applauded when Bush walked to the pitchers mound in the days shortly thereafter.

We were ALL proud of him in those days.

Mr. Bush’s approvals dropped gradually. He earned them. He well and truly earned every drop in favorability.

The whole damn world sees this.

Trust me dude, Obama is smart. Smarter than both of us put together. Only the radical fringe of either party wouldn’t cut the new guy a break.

That’s really Real American.

While I celebrate the momentous election of Barak Obama, I do so humbly because this is what was expected, not an upset or sleight of hand.

What conservatives need to to is look at themselves and come to the realization that Ronald Reagan is gone and he isn’t coming back. You folks still think it’s 1980 and it just ain’t so!

The things that were said by your side were at times sick and disgusting. We can agree to disagree, but when you keep harping on “non truths” to prop up failed policies then what happened last night will continue. And please, do yourself a favor and keep the “pitbull in lipstick” from running in 2012 because all she will do is furthur embarass the GOP.

What you need to focus on is respecting the fact that our great nation has changed and your not “masters of the universe” anymore. You folks are just like the rest of us, nothing special.

The utter failures of the GOP and Bush these past 8 years you need to learn from because “real America” spoke loud and clear last night and it certainly isn’t white and over 55.

In essence the only way you’ll get back to the promise land is to “nuke” your party as it is and start from the ground up.

And one more thing, it’s time for you folks to ditch loud mouth jits like Hannity, Limbaugh and Dr. Laura. All these fools are about is making $$$ and nothing else. Trust me, “Real America” is sure as he11 not listening to these idiotic fools!!

Yea, right. Condi Rice rode W’s agenda for all it was worth. She sided in with the ugly Rethuglicons like Cheney and Rumsfeld just to further her career. She backstabbed Colin Powell so she could get the Sec of State job. Class act my butt. She probably voted for McCain. Me thinks she is kissing up angling for position on the Obama White House staff. I don’t feel Obama was speaking the truth about “bringing all of us together” as he campaigned. His records is very, very, far to the left and actions speak louder than words. If he is truly going to bring us all together I would think that we would see some republicans (even if they’re not truly conservative) appointed by Obama. That would surely show all of us that he meant what he said. I don’t think that will happen but we will see. BTW I am not a dude.

What a joke most of these comments are. Do all you right-wingers really think a Republican had a snowflakes chance in hell after the mess The Bush Admininstration caused. You should be extremely happy and shocked that you did as well as you did. It should have been at least 3-1 in the popular vote. This alone still makes me question the common sense and intelligence of the American people. How much suffering does the country have to go through?

Oh and did anyone notice how McCain had to keep hushing his booing crowd everytime Obama’s name was mentioned in his concession speech? On the other hand, who all noticed the applause from Obama’s gathering when he mentioned McCain’s name? Of course why would anyone expect any different. It’s all about class. The right-wingers have done nothing but try to tear this country apart, provoke fights and promote extreme partisanship.

I’ll just say this as an example of how much better things will be in four years: Fast forward to 2012 when Obama is re-elected… You won’t see Dems with bumper stickers and yard signs that say, “Obama, STILL the President.” We have more class than that and truly desire to have a UNITED States of America.

P.S.

By the way, we should have never been in this mess to begin with. It’s too bad that our Republican Supreme Court appointed our president in 2000, instead of him actually being elected.

I have every reason to believe that Condi voted for McCain. JMC helped her out numerous times in her battles with Rumsfeld, and was on her side over the surge. Further, she and Obama were on opposite sides over the issue of the war itself. Liberals forget that.

However, she showed her trademark poise and grace today and pride in the fact that her country looked past race to elect an African-American as President. I’m a Republican, and as proud of Condi Rice as I can be, and for one day, I share that pride in my nation.

Tomorrow, Condi Rice and other Republicans will be about the business of rebuilding the Republican Party. But for now, it is fitting that we celebrate how far we have come from Jim Crow to today. Our European “friends”, who condescend to us so easily, could never think of achieving so much.

Only in America.

There are many myths in politics. One of the biggest is that Republicans are the party of “meanness”, the party of stating “facts” that are just not so, the party of shading the truth if not just plain lying to justify their position, the party practicing the “politics of personal destruction”. Any fair minded person who reads this blog, including the posts by the “master” Jay would realize, if he had an ounce of intelligence, that the party that is guilty of all of the above is not the Republicans, but the Democrats. With all the searching of Sarah Palin’s history to try to find that she once failed a spelling test in the third grade, did any of you moronic liberals note that John McCain did not even bring up the subject of Jerimiah Wright and Obama’s association with him for twenty plus years? How do you think it would have been handled had it been John McCain who once stumbled into to a KKK meeting when he was a college frat pledge? Same kind of “hands off”? Yeah, right!

Condi Rice, George W Bush, Sarah Palin, and John McCain each have more class in their little finger than the whole of the bloggers on this site put together. John McCain was very classy in his concession speech. Barack Obama was still campainging, still politicing, still running. I guess someone forgot to tell him that he had won already.

Is that the best you can come up with? Some pranks by a few staffers? The G.A.O. even said that this was commonplace, and happened when Clinton took over in 1993. It’s just that the Clinton’s and their staff didn’t throw a partisan fit and demand a very expensive investigation paid for by us taxpayers. He just laughed it off and got to work. See… the partisan crap started with W on day one.

Dr. R - well said and I couldn’t agree more. Maybe as Obama’s presidency moves forward people with their hateful attitudes, mouths and agendas will do the same. He and Ms. Obama will set the tone for unity. His choice of cabinet will help set the tone for unity and progress in the next 4 years.

I am optimistic that now that we’ve had a woman candidate for both President and VP and now have a President-Elect who is both black and white, the old tired race card and race baiting will slowly fade away and with it the biggotry on both sides that rears its ugly head on these blogs.

Once there are no quotas to fill, no special minority classes created by our government and people are truly viewed as equals, maybe then we will see these ugly attitudes become a thing of the past. When our very own government stops classifying people, maybe people will quit classifying one another. Let the biggots in this country become the real minority.

I hope to see our media act more responsibly and be less inclined to be antagonistic and divisive. We can only hope that AJC and others will recognize they can help lead the way to a more unified country rather than continuing to put forth race baiting diatribes in their opinion columns.

Hey Ray Ray and lianimalfcuker, we don’t care if you like it. You go on disliking it. It’s not going to change a thing. The Republinazis are done! You two can work through by being especially mean to your wives, if you are heterosexual. If not, you can flip people off in traffic. Bush is a war criminal and we’re not interested in being nice to him. We’re interested in seeing him tried!

A new pledge of allegiance that I think would fit the Bookman credo:

I pledge blind and vehement allegiance to the flag of the newly formed Politicly Leftist States of America (alternate: “United” States of Southern Canada); and to the upcoming socialist republic for which I stand; one nation, maybe even one world; under Barry, my god (and not the judeo-christian God, cause either I don’t think He exists, might offend someone, or just needs to keep His nose out of human business); really divided in ideology (52 - 46); with liberty and justice to be redefined to fit my liberal ideology. Thank you! Thank you very much. Elvis has left the building.

THIS IS NOT AN ENDORSEMENT OF CHURCH AND STATE BEING JOINED. REPEAT NOT JOINED. THE ORIGINAL WORDS “UNDER GOD” WOULD ONLY STATE THAT WE ARE LESS THAN GOD. SORRY HUMANISTS, YOU ARE NOT GODS.

I love the fact that Pres. O will be inspiration for our country. Its actually one of the things a president should do. You’ve gotten so used to lies and BS from Bush that you have no clue. Barack will get in office and show all of you how this is suppose to be done!

Great statement by Condi, too!

What did she say!? Did the uninformed pick a man because he was the best man. The answer to that question is NO! We elected a man who is far from the center of the spectrum. A radical left to be exact. Why did we elect him??? Because he is BLACK! It’s sickening to see this country continue to spiral downward. I’m sure some of you will call me a racist, or a bigot, but that is just simply NOT the reason, not even close to the reason! Good luck with your socialist. We deserve what we get!

Please, can we get rid of the hyphen Americans…..I would submit that you are NOT and NEVER have been an AFRICAN. There are NO AFRICAN AMERICANS, only Americans. Well, let me be a little more precise. Comrade Americans! :)

He wasn’t my first choice either, but he was clearly the best of what was left to pick from.

He was elected in spite of being a black man. Give him a chance.

There are some really nasty people on these blogs that need to crawl back in their holes and stay there. You know who you are.

If we all quit responding to these creeps maybe they’ll just go away and the rest of us can have an intelligent exchange.

Like another poster pointed out it’s kind of like school yard pranking or bullying. It’s not fun to be nasty and mean unless you can get a rise out of someone.
