The consequences of a Dem sweep

Linda Feldman of the Christian Science Monitor has a nice piece this morning looking at the possibilities and pitfalls of one-party rule. It also includes an interesting nugget I’d missed from the recent Washington Post poll. A few excerpts:

“Washington may well be on the verge of becoming a one-party town, with Democratic Sen. Barack Obama looking strong to capture the presidency next Tuesday and Democrats poised to expand their majorities in both houses of Congress.

The history of one-party rule in America is fraught with triumphs and peril….

For Senator Obama, should he become president, the most relevant historical example is President Franklin Roosevelt, says presidential historian Robert Dallek.

“We were in dire straits,” says Mr. Dallek. “As Roosevelt said himself in his first inaugural, ‘This country is asking for action and action now.’ That’s what he gave them. In the first 100 days, he passed 15 major pieces of legislation. He couldn’t have done it unless he had a crisis and strong party support.”

Obama, too, appears poised to push initiatives in a range of areas, including a second economic stimulus package, healthcare reform, changes to tax policy, and energy reform. He has also pledged to begin, right away, the process of withdrawing US troops from Iraq….

Still, the American public is showing unprecedented support for one-party rule in Washington, according to the latest Washington Post-ABC News poll. Fifty percent of likely voters say they would prefer that the same party control both the White House and Congress, a new high for that poll. Thirty percent said they wanted split-party rule.”

Good Morning, Jay

Glad to see The Christian Science Monitor referenced. It is, I think, one of the more objective newspapers available.

It will be interesting to see how Pres Obama handles his agenda - or if the Party leadership (‘the old time, we’ve been here a while and now’s our chance’ crowd) wants to trump him. We’ll see how far cooperation and compromise go - not with the opposition Party but with his own.

And all those ‘conflicts’ between the Executive and the Legislative with the current administration? I’d be willing to bet we’ll see that historical tension continued to be played out.

But I do agree - he’ll have to move, and move fast. With majorities he may get what he wants. Americans have high expectations and low patience. I once asked N-GA how long people will give Pres Obama to show results (and how long they’ll accept the excuse “well, Pres Bush took eight years to screw this up) and he replied “one term.”

I think that’s fair. But the programs need to be in place early, the natural lagging cycles need to work through and events have to break in his favor. The end of one term will be the time for evaluation, not anticipation.

We shall see.

Hussein: The Story of How A Radical Marxist Attempted To Overthrow the American Government and Enslave It’s People With Communist Principles.

Spankmonkey, you’re just as big of an idiot, if not a bigger idiot, than Jay. You should already know that no one wants to think like, dress like and ESPECIALLY, vote like you. Anyways, going back to the subject that you got completely off of, Democrap domination in D.C. would be a total disaster. Sky-high taxes, protectionism, class warfare, defeatism, spiteful military cuts, the resurrection of the massive welfare state and the conditions of government dependency that breed the massive underclass that comes with it. Our economy will tank and our way of life will disappear if this radical moron is frauduently elected as an illegitimate president of a shadow welfare state, which the American People will NEVER let happen. Dream on loony left losers. Dream on. Demoncrats can’t register enough dead folks, homeless bums and welfare moms to throw this one.

Unfortunately, on Nov 5 it will be time to kick off the 2012 presidential campaign season. I think the Republican ticket has already begun, at least half the ticket has…

This means that instead of fulfilling campaign promises or implementing any of the much ballyhooed tax plans or whatnot, President O or President M will need to start working on appeasing the “base” immediately.

The election will be determined by the “RACE BALLOT” no matter what we think. The politicians know it and the press has to down play it for the sake of our country. Most minorities will vote for Obama. They would vote for him if he were white. The key vote will come from white people who hold no racial or religous prejuidice or do not think that they are superior in work effort and intellect. Joe the plumber has been very good for McCain because it put the face of a hard working white man in the minds of the majority voter. It sounds better to refer to Obama as a sociolist instead of an Arab, terrorist or the N word. America is what it is… Good and Bad.

Jay, you should reveal what Barack Obama plans to do should he get into office. There’s nothing as dangerous that our nation is facing as the unbalance of power that a far left Democrat monopoly on power will bring. Comrade Obama will be able to shove his Marxist schemes right down our throats with the help of the radicals of the Democratic party. The out numbered Republicans will not have much input to prevent Obama’s run away government from TAXING us to death and muzzling people that object to Obama’s stupidity. If you believe that the rich alone can fund Barack Obama’s massive Marxist TAKE FROM and REDISTRIBUTE programs, then you don’t have a very good idea of finances. There is a bottom to every well and Comrade Obama and his tax collectors will come for the middle class people’s hard earned money too. Barack Obama is currently sponsoring US Senate Bill S2433 (Obama’s first Marxist Act) and if passed (and it will be if Obama is elected), it will cost America 845 Billion in ADDITIONAL taxes. The money that is squeezed out of you and me for Obama’s S2433 will be given to the corrupt United Nations, specifically for “The UN Global Poverty Act”. Your money will then be REDISTRIBUTED to third world dictators. This can be verified, Google “Obama’s S2433”. Obama is eliminating the reduction on the death inheritance tax that President Bush implemented. Comrade Obama plans to take your inheritance and REDISTRIBUTE it. Obama has vowed to double the capital gains tax so if you have bought property as an investment, kiss your profit line goodbye. Obama will REDISTRIBUTE it. With at least 845 Billion going out of our nations coffers to be REDISTRIBUTED to third world despots, there is no way the rich can satisfy Obama’s lust for more, more, more TAX money. S2433 is only one of many Comrade Obama’s great Marxist schemes with many more to come. Without the power to filibuster Democratic abuses of power and/or a Republican President to veto the Democrat craziness, our taxes will rise beyond the moon and our right of freedom of speech will be in danger. Comrade Obama and his Marxist allies will have their way with you and me.

Mad as Zell: wrong on all counts. As usual.

Jose Padilla was an AMERICAN held without trial on a Navy Brig on US soil for years.

Valerie Plame status as a CIA agent was NOT known before Rove et al released that classified information.

The president is NOT a king or dictator. He is the head of the Executive branch and is bound to enforce the laws that Congress passes as well as follow those same laws. Signing statements where he basically says “I’m not going to do this” are not constitutional, but the Congress doesn’t have enough of a spine to tell him where to shove those signing statements and bring him up on impeachment charges for any of this.

Which is the point that I brought up about shredding the constitution. Bush has spent 8 years ignoring it. How much worse can it get?

A previous writer referred to this election’s dirty little not-too-well-kept secret, and that is The Race Vote.

Its just might happen. McCain could gather enough frustrated and angry at the media votes alone to swing this election, not to mention those not in favor of one-party rule; throw in the disgusted white and blue collar Democrats that will stay at home because they cannot bring themselves to vote for this black socialist and voila, you have it!

As far as the comment about Most minorities will vote for Obama. They would vote for him if he were white., that is not quite as strong as some could have put it. After hearing the now famous Howard Stern’s reporter interviewer in Harlem of Obama supporters, and hearing their knowledge of the man and his policies (as well as his VP running mate), one could make the presumption that if McCain were to post pictures of himself, but with dark skin, outside polling places, he would take 40% or more of the black vote. Substitute a picture of Oprah for Sarah, and its a landslide, McCain.

Someone could say that, but it won’t be me.

Here’s to the hope that the American electorate choose not to elect a liberal socialist who will attempt to raises taxes on the productive members of society to fund transfer payments in the form of tax rebates to people who pay no income taxes. It will be a proud moment if Americans speak with a loud voice that recognizes it is wrong to take from one to give to another against their will without exchange of value. It is wrong whether you do it with a gun, with fraud, or with legislation.

At this time in history, our country needs to foster and support its enterprisers; not follow the marxist philosophy of confiscating their productivity as a crop harvest to buy votes.

Frankly, what individuals earn is theirs. It does not belong to Senator Obama or his supporters to confiscate and redistribute as they deem “fair” or “just”.

Hopefully, the political philosophy of theft and deceit will be defeated again. As is evidenced by recent events, there are a number of thieves already in power that should be brought to trial & justice. We certainly do not need to elect an executive & legislative collusion that would make it a cornerstone of its governance.

We suspect what’s going on here is more than Mr. Biden’s normal gift of gaffe. As with his admission that a President Obama would quickly be tested by our enemies, the Delaware rambler was stumbling into the truth. An Obama Administration couldn’t possibly pay for a tax cut for 95% of Americans by raising taxes on a mere 5%.

Just as Bill Clinton promised a “middle-class tax cut” in 1992 only to raise taxes on the middle class in 1993, Mr. Obama will quickly find that his tax-revenue math doesn’t add up. Add in the demands on Capitol Hill to spend more and to offset the Alternative Minimum Tax, and our bet is that even $150,000 would soon prove to be a moving tax target.-WSJ

I have to leave for the day after this, but I’ve always wanted to ask these questions:

What has been so hellish about the last 8 years that you left wingnuts have become screaming, foaming at the mouth, loudmouths, spewing your hate and venom?

Q: Is it because you lost?

A: Get over it, its past history. Grow up and learn from it.

Q: Is it because of Iraq?

A: From an empirical standpoint (that means based on observation or experience for you Democrats), why are the Iraqis any less deserving of individual freedoms and liberties than any other ‘citizens of the world’?

Q: Do you feel the Iraqis are less deserving?

A: Obviously yes, because your interests lie only in what something or someone can do for you.

Q: Do you feel that stealing an election through massive voter fraud is some sort of justice that is due you, similar to the blacks belief in “O.J. justice” that allowed a double murderer to go free?

A: That, too, is obvious. Yes you do.

Q: Are you proud of yourself for that; does it add to your humanity and sense of fairness, your personal ethics, to know that theft is justified?

A: If your answer is YES - you a a piece of human filth If the answer is no - well, no suggestion there. You have to live with yourself over that one.

Q: Other than the last 2 years when the economy has been a bit unstable, and job losses increasing (It has to be mere coincidence with the Dems being in control of Congress), how much worse off are you really?

A: Not much, if any. You just want more of what someone else has…. it is called class envy… and you want it given to you freely instead of having to go to all of the trouble of bettering yourself through education, or job skills training, or anything that may require you do put forth any degree of personal effort.

Q: I never understood the attraction to a socialist, so I’ll never figure your liking for Obama ….. but Joe Biden? Is there any person in the Senate more out of touch with reality, with more of a penchant for self-immolation through the use of his own tongue, with a greater case of foot in mouth disease than Biden? Good God.

A: If you have the stomach to look at botox Nancy (Pelosi) and Goofy Harry (Reid), I guess you can stomach everything.

Have a nice day, tools.

I’ll be back.

So Paul wants our military to retreat back from position of strength against the terrorists to a fetal position of submissive weakness. That’s quite a plan for victory that you’ve got there, Paul. No wonder the American people refer to your beloved anti-American party as the “DEFEATOCRATS

ByteMe:

Good attempt at deflection, but corporations do not pay taxes. Taxes like any other expense is passed along to consumers in the form of higher prices or diminished value (getting less for your money). Unless we are going to move to more of a Fair Tax model, there should be no taxation on corporate entities at all. Dividends or gains to owners / shareholders should be where they are collected as earnings to the invididuals.

And as for your mention of deficits & borrowing to cover budget shortfalls, that is why we should immediately cut spending to minimize the size and expansive nature of the federal government. The reason that our government has a deficit is that it spends too much money; specifically in areas in which it has no constitutional authority.

Tax cuts increase revenues to the Treasury as has been shown by Kennedy, Reagan, & Bush. The problems of deficit spending is that the growth of government is not controlled. It spends too much money providing goodies in the form of programs (supposedly from the Treasury, but actually funded by deficit spending).

Senator Obama would not stop this trend, but actually exacerbate it because his tax increases would not cover the cost of the -new- spending (and increased spending in other areas) that he proposes. Actually, as has been evidenced by history, tax increases decrease revenues to the Treasury, which would only make the problem worse.

And for the record as I stated previously, a tax cut is not a “gift” because it is impossible for me to -give- you something that is already yours. A transfer payment from someone else to another is a “gift” if the provider is willing. It is theft if they are not.

Paul @9:16,

LMAO!

My liberal friends here may not be happy with this sentiment, but as for an Obama presidency my counsel is, “Prepare to be disappointed.”

For months I’ve been trying to find a single positive reason to encourage a vote for Obama. Please note my accent on the positive, since the candidate himself has couched his appeal in the context of,” Why vote for Obama, as opposed to against the Palin-Wurzelbacher ticket?”

The old “evil of two lessers” canard.

Barack Obama is VERY receptive to corporate power. Especially the more this campaign has continued. And his voting record confirms this.

I believe once elected, he’s going to Washington to pass lots of corporate-friendly legislation drawn up by the 35,000 lobbyists who work for our shadow government.

He wants to enlarge the US military by 90,000, escalate the war in Afghanistan and expand George Bush’s “War on Terror”.

He has NO program to crack down and hold responsible the corporate criminals and swindlers who are trying to bankrupt this nation.

He does not press for a real living wage.

He wants to put a band aid on the utterly dysfunctional, corrupted “health care” system in this country instead of providing a single-payer, full Medicare like program.

He he has NO program for the bottom 100 million Americans.

But if the Democrats make these forecasted gains, there will be no more excuses.

Will he and the Democratic Congress strengthen or continue to weaken consumer protection laws?

Will he/they end/drastically minimize or continue to provide corporate subsidies and welfare?

If Obama does not turn the page as he promised, and if the Congressional majority does not step up forcefully to the repudiated Republican status quo, then we may fairly conclude that the decay of democracy is deeper than we wished to believe.

Sadly, I conclude that with few exceptions, we are going to be looking at politics as usual in Washington and NOT real, fundamental change for the better…

As we hopefully head into a new era and as the GOP juggernaut sputters and lurches back to the 1950s, let us be reminded that escaping the filthy Bush aftermath isn’t going to be all wine and roses. The Repugs have destroyed much of what was once “good” in America. It will take much work and many years to repair the ravages of the Bush/McCain diseases, to finally look toward the new, the positive. But the Repug virus will be with us for many years, as will a greatly dumbed-down society.

Please notice I said we had a military presence in 132 countries. That’s nearly all of them.

I don’t think terrorists are that far-flung. If they were, it’d be another matter. But they aren’t.

The rationale for much of our presence in these countries could be as, if not more, effectively met with aid agencies. At a much lower cost.

What we have effectively done, in these tough economic times, is to pay other countries for the privilege of protecting them. From what, we’re not all that sure.

One can even make the case that our current extension, and planned extensions by the incoming administration can have the effect of not strengthening our country.

Seems increasing the size, scope and expense of government through military spending is the only increase of government some people like.

Not that Bud Wiser will actually read the real answers to his questions (which he thoughtfully answered for himself, arguing with the commie-socialist-Democratic caricature that lives in his head), but I’ll go ahead and give them:

Q: What has been so hellish about the last 8 years that you left wingnuts have become screaming, foaming at the mouth, loudmouths, spewing your hate and venom?: Is it because you lost?

A: No, it’s the fact that Bush ignored warnings of threats to our security and used the attack as an excuse to launch an unnecessary war against an unrelated target (furthering the neocon agenda) and subvert our civil liberties… all while rewarding loyalty over competence, censoring science, ignoring real problems like global warming and oil dependency (and emergency response), and generally mismanaging every aspect of domestic policy.

Q: Are the Iraqis any less deserving of individual freedoms and liberties than any other ‘citizens of the world’?

A: Obviously not. And just as obviously, if they want democracy, they can set one up. It’s up to THEM, not us. It’s interesting that BushCo decided that the Iraqis needed a new government and chose to invade and set one up, without any such declaration or inivitation from the Iraqis themselves. Wasn’t he disparaging the notion of “nation-building” just a few years earlier?

Q: Do you feel that stealing an election through massive voter fraud is some sort of justice that is due you, similar to the blacks belief in “O.J. justice” that allowed a double murderer to go free?

A: This too is obvious. Massive voter fraud is what the Diebold Republican backers offer; ACORN only handles voter registration. And no, blacks don’t believe in whatever “O.J. Justice” fantasy you’ve cooked up in your fevered imagination.

Q: Are you proud of yourself for that; does it add to your humanity and sense of fairness, your personal ethics, to know that theft is justified?

A: If I did think that theft was justified (and there are situations, such as Robin Hood’s, where it arguably could be), then yes, I would take pride in such belief. Ethics and fairness include things like caring for the poor more than the rich, healing the sick, housing the homeless, and generally putting people ahead of property… all teachings of that notorious Marxist, Jesus Christ. If you hate Christian values that much… well, you have to live with yourself, and I pity you.

Q: Other than the last 2 years when the economy has been a bit unstable, and job losses increasing (It has to be mere coincidence with the Dems being in control of Congress), how much worse off are you really?

A: Quite a bit. Our freedoms have been eroded, our privacy violated, our international standing trashed, our economy destroyed by outmoded “trickle-down” policies. You just want to make it easier for the rich to get richer on the backs of the rest of us… it is called class war. And pointing it out is only a crime if you belong to the “shoot the messenger” school of fascist media hatred.

Good God.

A: If Obama were a socialist, you still wouldn’t have an intelligent argument here. Sadly, he’s only a Democrat, but he’ll have to do for now. And Biden—-one of the most experienced members of the Senate is “out of touch with reality”? He’s not the one living in nine houses and pretending to be working-class. Good god.

Have a nice day, drone.

Paul, it sure does, my friend, it sure does…

“One man with courage makes a majority” ~Andrew Jackson

The US military budget is without a doubt the most bloated and wasteful expenditure in the United States of America.

I’ve read estimates that it is about $170 BILLION annually. In waste, fraud and corruption!

And this is no accident. Ask Dick Cheney, BlackWater and Haliburton for clarification.

Earlier this year, President Bush announced a military budget of nearly $700 BILLION.

And that’s not counting the full cost of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The proposed military budget represents 58 cents out of every dollar spent by the U.S. government on discretionary programs - the items that Congress gets to vote up or down on an annual basis.

Yes, the blood lusting chicken hawks and ostriches do not want to know about this, but that does not change a single, solitary truth about it.

The undeniable reality is that we spend as much as England, France, Russia, China, Japan and the REST OF THE WORLD COMBINED on our military budget/”defense”.

And under the neo-cons, it is being used to fuel wasteful, reckless, destabilizing foreign interventions that violate constitutional and international law.

Though we are by far the richest nation on the planet, we remain the only democracy in the civilized world that does adequately care for a huge percentage of it’s own people.

The facts and statistics are irrefutable. And we all know, we could provide many, many, many of them to confirm this truth.

That said, I’m for letting them keep it. The proposed tax increase is small and they won’t miss it. They’ll reap the benefits of the investments made in this country with it along with the rest of us.

I am a Republican and I can’t wait to see Bush ride off into the sunset. He has been a one trick pony president, a very bad one for this country. However, I sure as hell don’t think for one minute the answer to 8 bad years of Bush is a country and congress controlled by Obama, Reid and Pelosi. You’ve got to be insane to think your taxes won’t go up. How can they pay for all they’ve promised. Will they cut the military budget by 25%? Probably so. No, we don’t need a military now do we. Afterall aren’t we so chummy with Russia, Korea, Syria and Iran that we’ll all be holding hands and singing around the campfires together soon. Are you all so naive to think these same countries won’t go after us just as hard with Obama in charge? Do you think Obama will bring the whole world together. How do you idiots find your way to work each day? There’s a whole slew of folks who have never contributed anything to this country and for the first time in their lives they’ll be voting Obama. They think they’re going to be handed something for free. How well has socialism worked in the past. Name me one prospering country whose economy is predicated on socialistic values? Obama has now become a fashion statement for those who perceive themselves to be hip and above the crowd. Your hate for Bush is so misplaced you’ll cut off your noses to spite your faces. Never before has the media elected a president until now. We have to change the way we vote in this country. No more one man one vote. If you don’t have a vested financial interest in this country you shouldn’t be allowed to vote. If you’ve lived in poverty for generation after gneration, don’t work or own a home, you shouldn’t be able to vote. Years of stupidity and laziness rendered you in the situation you’re in today and you’re too stupid to have the right to vote. All you’ll do is screw up the country just like you screwed up your lives with bad decision making.

The right-wing whack jobs can’t even decide on a line of attack and stick with it on Senator Obama. He’s a terrorist! No, he’s a latte-sipping elitist! He’s an Arab! No, he’s a Muslim ! (they aren’t the same thing, Brainiacs.) He’s a Socialist! He’s a Marxist! (also not the same thing, geniuses.) Senator Obama is about hope and possibility. Senator McCain and Caribou Barbie are about fear and hatred. It’s no contest. Do you really think the tidal wave of newly-registered voters and the unprecedented levels of early voting are about installing the same old tired crap for another 4 years? Obama and Biden are going to win in a blowout.

ED- toanswer your question, how are gonna pay for all the proposed new spending. leaglizing drugs would be a good start. The war on drugs is a loosing cause, we pour billions into more lawyers, courts, judges, jails,DEA,police for a loosing cause. That money could be used elsewhere. Why do you think illegal drug sales are so popular to criminals, b/c they are illeagal and are forced into the black market where they become expensive and profiable for them. Read your history of the prohibition of alcohol, it did the same thing, but at least we had the b*s to admit we were wrong then. I will never vote for a party that tries to legislate morality.

Expect the Worst From an Obama Administration.

By: John LeBoutillier

If Barack Obama wins this election, what will the next four years be like in this country?

Obama and the Democratic supermajority in the Congress, led by Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, will certainly move to the extreme left.

There will be no one to check their most liberal instincts, and that will be reflected in the types of new programs we will see.

They will try to move the nation to Western European-style socialism. Hillary would have done this, too, had she won. Each had dozens of new FDR-style spending programs they featured during their campaigns.

This means heavier federal involvement in healthcare; perhaps the federal government will eventually take this over and nationalize it.

All aspects of our lives will be affected by federal programs from schools to energy subsidies to doctors salaries to regulation of hospital costs to corporate governance to federal mandates on states and municipalities to a federal takeover of many pension funds.

Yes, these unrestrained liberals, drunk with power, will impose the incorrectly named Fairness Doctrine to nail Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity and Michael Savage and their local acolytes. The left sees talk radio as the one bastion of the media they cant penetrate, so theyll simply neutralize it with this doctrine.

They will cut defense spending perhaps by up to 25 percent as a quick way to move money into social programs.

They will create massive new government spending programs, supposedly to rebuild our crumbling infrastructure, but as a payoff to their labor pals.

Whenever someone in the media dares to question what they are up to, they will say, Look what Bush and the Republicans did? Socialism? It was the Republicans who took over the banks and pored over one trillion dollars into bailouts!

They will go after corporate pay and try to legislate limits on CEO salaries. For the first year or two, the so-called mainstream media will remain totally in Obama’s pocket, shilling for this leftist agenda. Some writer will coin a phrase, i.e. the “Square Deal,” the “Real Deal,” or the “Great Society,” which will describe what Obama is trying to do.

The idea of sending U.S. troops to hot spots such as Darfur and Kenya will come up soon after the inauguration.

Michelle Obama will quickly become the most unpopular first lady ever. Some people will almost miss the days of Hillary Clinton. Stories will abound about how she is hurting her husbands political standing. His staff will try to muzzle her, and stories will then surface that there is a war between the Obamas inside the White House.

Pakistan will deteriorate and almost fracture, and Obama will be more aggressive toward al-Qaida and the Taliban than Bush.

Obama will tilt pro-Palestinian, and his relations with Israel will deteriorate. No American president will have had such bad relations with our staunchest ally.

By the Fall of 2009, Obamas approval rating will be down to 42 percent; his disapproval rating will be 45; the nation will again be divided.

Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson will not be frequent visitors to the Obama White House; the savvy Obama staff will try not to allow the Obama administration to be tainted by the two.

Teddy Kennedy will die, and the funeral will be a “Whos Who” of the left. His funeral will be on national TV, and his accomplishments will be touted for weeks, while the death of Mary Jo Kopechne will be a small footnote. The media will fawn all over the Kennedys again.

Iran will smell weakness in Obama and make a move of some sort, perhaps in Lebanon. Or, possibly, Tehran and Obama will make peace first and have a summit, and then Iran will take advantage of a weak Obama.

Leftists of all stripes will emerge as new “stars” in the Obama era. They will be products of todays “progressive,” race and gender-based education system, and they will flaunt their arrogance.

All sorts of crazy ideas will surface, from nationalizing certain companies and industries to God knows what.

Capitalism will be seen as an evil; the anti-capitalistic nonsense taught in our colleges and universities will rear its ugly head in statements, confirmation hearings, and interviews with new administration figures.

The Congress will try to free hundreds of thousands of prison inmates who are serving time for drug and non-violent offenses; and then theyll try to register them to vote for the Democrats in the 2010 mid-term elections.

Most of G.W. Bushs executive orders regarding family planning, stem-cell research, and foreign aid, coupled with family planning, will be reversed.

Obama and the Democrats will grant amnesty to the 12 million to 30 million illegals already here, and the border fence will never be completed. Millions of new illegals will continue to stream into our nation, and the Democrats will try to register these new voters as Democrats, of course, and that will alter all our politics for years to come.

The Obama-Democratic congressional axis will nominate and confirm the most left-leaning federal judges in our history as payback for what G.W. Bush and the GOP did in 2001-2007. Watch out some real whackos are coming onto the bench.

The Obama years will be the culmination of the last 40 years of horrendously biased education coupled with a climate of liberal guilt and political correctness.

Here’s a quote from the Oct. 14 British Spectator that sums it up perfectly: “You have to pinch yourself a Marxist radical who all his life has been mentored by, sat at the feet of, worshiped with, befriended, endorsed the philosophy of, funded and been in turn funded, politically promoted and supported by a nexus comprising black power anti-white racists, Jew-haters, revolutionary Marxists, unrepentant former terrorists and Chicago mobsters, is on the verge of becoming President of the United States. Palin runs on the platform of ethics, transparency and anti-corruption. And, yet another complaint against Governor Palin, which alleges Misuse of Official Position:

She did in fact use her official position for personal gain by securing unwarranted benefits for her daughters.

Palin’s daughters, accrued $32,629 in travel expenses while Palin’s husband Todd raked up $22,174 - all billed to the state for a total of $54,803.00.

No that would be to blatant. He would do it quietly through executive orders and new congressional measures. Giving more aid to countries with Islam ideology. I’m not saying he will, i’m just saying that is how it could be done. By the way, Obama grew up in a highly Muslim country in his formative early years. So to say it is beyond the realm of possibility is putting your head in the sand. The probability I couldn’t guess. And just because he say he is a Christian and therefore not Muslim. That doesn’t mean he is or isn’t. He is a politician. They b.s. all the time. I am lead to another point, don’t the real ultra liberals kinda dislike organized religion and think it is only for the weak and uneducated. So I would think Mr. Obama has a huge inner conflict going on within himself. Neither you nor I really know Obama and can say anything with absolute certainty. So we will both send off our blogs and won’t be experts on Obama.

I imnplore all of you, red or blue, to stop spouting venom and look for the things that bind us together. Deep down, we all want essentially the same things, don’t we? How does heaping all of this hatred on one another helpful?

My Story: The other day I excitedly and with much glee went to cast my ballot, even though it was cold outside. But I was warm in my heart, because the messiah was coming to office soon as the media foretold. I kept trying to excitely cast my ballot to Obama/Biden, but the computer kept coming back “poor choice - please try again”. Well I did this over and over because the media said Obama/Biden is the way to go. But it kept coming back “poor choice - please try again”. So finally I thought, “hey it’s a computer, it’s gotta know better”. So I then cast my ballot for McCain/Palin and it said “not the greatest choice, but much better than Obama/Biden and socialism”. So I happily clicked my heels together and went home. THIS IS HUMOR PEOPLE!!! But I did vote for McCain/Palin.

If McCain is elected president, regardless of the outcome in Congressional races, expect the worst. The senile, bad tempered, poor decision making McCain WILL start a nuclear exchange with the Russians….Remember, as one ages, the oldest memories persist the longest. McCain’s oldest memories are of the Russians as a Primary Enemy….Hence, when the foreign test of the new president comes, John will launch first, secure in the knowledge that he and his family and friends will be safe in Federal Government underground shelters. The rest of us will be like the 29 fellow sailors on the Forrestal that John McCain burned to death attempting to duplicate an old nave prank….the wet start of a jet engine…What the poor decision making fool failed to take into account was that all the jets on the flight deck were armed with live bombs, at least one of which exploded. McCain does not deny this act, but has moved on to greater things, like complete control of the American nuclear arsenal…..IF YOU WANT YOUR FAMILY TO SURVIVE THE NEXT FOUR YEARS, DO NOT VOTE FOR CRAZY JOHN, THE POOR DECISION MAKER….HE KILLED MORE AMERICAN SAILORS IN VIETNAM THAN ANY SINGLE NORTH VIETNAMESE, VIET CONG, OR RUSSIAN SOLDIER, SAILOR, OR AIRMAN…..

It is a truly scary situation Democrats in TOTAL control. It isn’t so much Obama, but rather the looney tunes in the Congress who will pass legislation and send to him to sign into law. I am confident that his first instincts are for big and bigger government, and socialism. Barney Frank has already gone on the record that the Pentagon will be cut 25%, taxes raised, and another stimulus bill passed. Ted Kennedy is working feverishly on a Health Care Reform package which will “nationalize” the Health Care business in this country making it a huge new Government Entitlement and Bureacracy. Health care is between 12-15% of the GNP, the Dems will take that over. Charlie Rangle is busy working on Tax revisions which will raise individual rates, reduce deductions (the mortgage interest deduction will be gone) in order to expose more income to taxation, and eliminate the ceiling on Soc Sec taxes. Sen Charles Schumer’s dream has always been to enact gun control, he’s been a staunch supporter of Federal gun control. The Second Amendment be damned. Schumer has his opportunity to ban guns, watch for it to take place as as part of some Crime Bill. Jim McDermott and George Miller are crafting legislation to Federalize all pension plans, 401k and IRA plans in the name of ‘saving our citizens savings from the volatile stock market’ and to eliminate the tax deduction we receive for investing in those plans. Maxine Waters is formenting legislation to ‘right the wrongs’ of the past, a politically correct way of calling for “reparations”. All the while Bill Clinton, along with Bill Campbell, await their pardons and Hillary looks forward to her appointment to the Supreme Court. Oh Happy Days.

By the way, I wouldn’t expect the Dems to investigate Franklin Raines and his $90 million golden parachute for running Fannie Mae into bankruptcy, nor his CFO who cooked the books, nor Sen Chris Dodd’s illegal loans from Countrywide, they will be far too busy pursuing perjury charges against Roger Clemens. If they can charge Clemens with perjury there’s a chance the country will survive, investigating the mortgage mess and the crooks like Raines and Dodd and prosecuting them be damned, we must send Roger to prison.

Obama comes across as intelligent, but he is vastly overmatched against our enemies. He is an empty suit in world affairs. His willingness to depend upon the United Nations is laughable. The UN is controlled by the Russians, Chinese and radical governments, who doesn’t know that? Barack Obama? We can anticipate the U N standing behind us with the same authority and force a 6 yr old would bring to playing linebacker for the Falcons.

The first 100 days will be interesting. I fully expect Joe Biden’s prediction to come to fruition. The very best those of us with common sense, reason, and who have worked our entire lives to achieve success can count on is that the Dems implode. One thing of which we can be certain….. the Democrats are coming for two things, 1)our money and financial savings and 2) our guns. Mark it down, Captain told you so on October 29, 2008, and please, you blind followers, you sheep who are being herded by the Democrats with their constant lies, know that you will regret your vote sooner rather than later. A Dictatorship is never a good thing.

Andrew,

When in the past 8 years has your rights under the Constitution been limited or neglected? They haven’t. You have done whatever you have wanted. Folks that practice religious beliefs, which you obviously despise (no wait liberals are incapable of dislike or dare I speak it, prejudice) have NOT limited your rights in any way, shape, or form. Were your rights more or better under the Clinton admin than Bush admin. NO!!! Under McCain/Palin you will retain your same rights as the Clinton years and the Bush years. Now under the Obama regime you must be hoping to have more rights than you enjoy right now. I would say you would even like to reduce the rights of individuals that disagree with you.

To be honest they will not…my biggest fear is that these nut jobs will try their best to kill Obama when he is elected President…you already have people saying that he is going to take away their guns, take away their rights, all kinds of foolishness. Then you have the real rocket scientist as evidenced in online videos that “coloreds” are going to take over…this has been a test for America, and America failed badly…I AM ASHAMED TO BE AN AMERICAN RIGHT NOW!! 40 years after the killing of Martin Luther King, Jr….and we are no better now than we were then…at this rate, there will never be an Asian-American President, Hispanic-American President… NEWS FLASH all Presidents don’t have to be white!

Beyond the world of absurdity…Joe the Plumber now is on the campaign trail with …you guessed it John McCain!

Joe who’s name is not Joe, and one who does not pay his taxes or traffic tickets .

One who is not a licensed plumber. Is now offering his opinion on Israel..

If McCain wins maybe JOE won’t have to worry about the plumbing business…perhaps secretary of defense, secretary of state is in his future!

I can make that pledge - I plan to support our new president, Dem or Rep. I’d like McCain to win, but I’ll support Obama. I doubt I support every bill or idea Obama comes up with, but he’ll be the US President and I’ll support him. I hope I don’t denigrate him personally if I do disagree with him. And I’ll feel comfortable knowing that, in 4 years, if he doesn’t do a good job, someone else can and may be voted in.

Can you say the same thing for your behavior over the last 8 years? If not, don’t wear your “holier than thou” attitude so proudly.

I hope we all realize that it’s time to be a little more respectful in our disagreements.

How about that.

Year after year of economic prosperity under Clinton, and the Republicans point to a Republican Congress and claim full credit.

A downward spiraling economy under George W. Bush, and the Republicans point to Clinton and Pelosi and put the blame foursquare on them.

Sorry, Republifolks, but I ain’t buyin’ what you’re sellin’.

And neither is the rest of America. Go take your tired and failed ideas and come back when you get a clue.

All: I fully expect that if Obama is elected, we will at best have rediscovered a certain Georgia Governor by the name of Jimmy Carter! I actually voted for him! Maybe many of you are to young to remember his reign. I’d list him as the least effective President of all times. I remember Stopping in a rest area in south Georgia and seeing a billboard that said “We the farmers of Georgia, apologize to the citizens of the USA for helping elect Jimmy Carter to the presidency of our country!”. The sad thing is, that is actually the very best we can hope for! Additionally, do you really want Nancy Pelosi along with Harry Reed in charge of our country? I think not! Bill

Just a few observations…..one has to have a beer and/or vacation with a man’s family before you can make an informed voting decision…..in that case there would be very few voters on either side.

Second, the politics of fear really are working well for the republicans, they got all you MCcain/Palin fans all scared to death of all sorts of things…..and ya’ll have dipped back into your PolySci text books for big words like Maxism and Socialism, very impressive. Did you come up with that yourself or did all the stump speeches and Rush blathering influence ysa a little bit.

Third, let’s talk foreign policy. I think it was admirable when Obama probably relized his short commings on world affairs so he picked Biden for help, it was a good move to strengthen the ticket. McSenile picked a good looking hockey mom to shore up his shortcomings with …….good looking hockey moms I guess.

Fourth, nobody has mentioned what a tremendously positive thing it would be for young minorities in this country to turn on the news and see a minority (actually half white/half black) holding the highest job in the land. That has to bring hope and encouragement to millions of americans who might oherwise continue to aspire to be pro athletes or hip hop artisits (nothing wrong withthose professions and not all minorities aspire this way but a lot do, but you get my point). I am a white, former republican who finally realized there’s not much difference between the 2 parties, but we definitley need a change and shift to the left in this country. it would do us all some good.

Pardon me for calling attention to the obvious, but all of this Marxist and socialist talk is just plain gibberish. There was a politician awhile back named Joe McCarthy who pulled the exact same stunt in order to get re-elected. The result was a congressional witch hunt that decimated the entertainment industry and destroyed many political careers. The Republican party is continuing to try and promote their politics of fear campaign, but the American public isn’t buying it this time.

In reference to having Washington controlled by one party, that doesn’t bother me because I know that whomever is elected president will need to make some very bold moves very quickly in order to try and salvage the nation’s economy. It will be easier if that person has a majority in both houses.

Finally, I would like to ask whomever says that, if elected, Senator Obama will take your money and your guns where they have been for the last 8 years. The current administration has not only taken MY money, but my children’s, grandchildren’s, and great grandchildren’s money and shipped if off to the Middle East and to Wall Street. Let redistribution begin and let it begin with Wall Street redistributing some of that money back to the American taxpayer.

He has also pledged to begin, right away, the process of withdrawing US troops from Iraq….

He also pledged to accept only public campaign financing, then went back on that promise when he found he could raise much more on his own. McCain on the other hand stuck to his promise of public financing only.

Strangely (not), the media has shown very little interest in where all that money is coming from.

Ain’t it funny that when Republicans controlled the Whitehouse, and both chambers of Congress, none of them thought there was peril in one-party rule. Suddenly, they see their party getting its collective butt kicked and they’re whining like little girlie-men about Obama-Pelosi-Reid controlling the executive and legislative branches of government. Back in 1994 the American electorate was brilliant for having voted in the so-called “Republican revolution,” but now the same electorate are implicitly a bunch of idiots because they might elect a Black Democrat as their next President and get super-nmajority control of the U.S. House and Senate.

And when a candidate for the presidency makes it abundantly clear that he’s going to tax those who’ve gotten rich over the course the last 8 to 12 years at the expense of the middle- and lower-middle class, they’re just having hissy fits. It’s okay to redistribute the wealth to benefiot the rich as long as it’s at the expense of the poor and the middle-class.

It’s about time that the rich “suffer” the inconvenience of another 6% to 9% increase over what they currently pay.

I think the first thing McCain should do when taking office is have Obama kicked out of the senate. Obama is a disgrace to this nation and all its followers should be ashamed of themselves. Obama is the worst thing that could ever happen to this nation and the way he ran his presidential campaign is disrespectful, full of lies, and continued poor judgment. McCain should also put sanctions against all the media outlets such as NBC, CNN, ABC, CBS and any other of the far left criminals. After they convict Osama, he should be sent back to where he came from…HELL!

Bookmeat is now telling us that one party rule will be a good thing. Did it work with the Republicans? Will it work with the Dimacrats? Pelosy says they will “Rule”. Not govern but “RULE”. Does the word “dictator” and “Regime” come to anyone’s mind in this country when they hear words like this? Obama has the media. Hitler had the media. The media are supposed to be the watchdogs. Now they are the lapdogs. Obama has desperate, uneducated and unmotivated people and all the ingredients for setting up his empire. Next term limits for incumbent politicians, including the presidency, will be done away with and then out goes the constitution. Then, there will only be revolution to resort to. It is coming. Faster than I thought it ever would. Prepare people.

I can form my own opinions and from studying history for 3 years I can confidently tell you that Hussein Obama is a Socialist. I mean, living in France for four years has tough me a little bit more about Socialism. It ain’t pretty my misguided friend. Socialist countries can not provide for their people, can not protect them with a military, and it can not provide adequate health care. If you care to argue I will simply ask you if you have ever lived in a Socialist country. Because if you have, then you will know that it is no where near as great as liberals like Jay will tell you they are. By the way, Sarkozy thinks Hussein Obama is immature and lacks common sense. Sarkozy is more Pro-American than a lot of Americans. He’s more American than most liberals. He would fight for America than against it like the likes of most liberals.

    Andrew,

You were so man enough to put your first name. I sarcastically applaud you, you are so putting yourself out there.

Do you abhor liberal extremists that hate religion, such that their religion is the removal of all religion or possibly a specific religion, as much as you hate religious extremists.

I would call myself a moderate conservative in that I really don’t care if you marry a woman, man, or dog if you would like to do so. PETA might care, so you better not. But I should be able to have an opinion on that matter and be able to voice it, just like you can voice your being for whatever. I do NOT think I should force my opinion on you such that you must live by it. Not that you would anyhow.

Again, if you want to believe in whatever god or no god, have at it. But I can do the same.

Regarding your own body. If you like men or women, go ahead. But in regards to the unborn, I differ from you in that you are forgetting the human beings that happen to be inside the mother are alive and human beings. To me, abortion is murder, plain and simple. To you it must not be. Most people have the ability to stop conception from occuring in the first place, so do it that way instead. You still retain the right to your own body without restriction.

You say you don’t hate religion and but if I read the Bible, which is the main instructions of my religion, then I need to remove my head from my $ss. Sounds like you’re full of hotair.

Lastly, the liberal left is well documented in their desire to take away some Constitutional rights. See removal of right to bear arms. Massachusetts a wonderful example of leftists taking away Constitutional rights. Their agenda is to do it everywhere.

I believe in free speech but-for God’s sake - I have never heard so much right-wing paranoiac screed about an Obama presidency. What might happen in his presidency may never happen as events might determine what he can or cannot do. Nothing is certain in spite of what your bias decrees to be so. Who can say that a McCain presidency would have you think that he would be the reincarnation of Reagan? What makes you think that a one - party in power is bad if that party is the Dems? After all, Rove admitted to trying to cleve our Union into two opposing camps in the hope of establishing a permanent Republican majority? Is that why you’re scared of Dems taking over? The truth is simple: at many times in our 250 some odd years of democracy, we have had one- party rule. So get over your “gloom and doom” scenario,as I will mine, and stop the demonizing! Differences? Nope, same trash as we have now. Congress & senate, like our state & local governments are now nothing more than revenue collectors. They serve no functional purpose, nor should they have jobs. The quicker we can take out the ‘trash’ and get rid of the deadbeats in government, which is about 98% of them, including judges, the better off we all are. All of the so-called ‘public servants’ can be replaced with people who will take the job at a lesser amount of pay, while they spend the 15-30 minutes learning their respective positions and then will be instructed BY THE TAXPAYERS how to perform the job & on the job. Meanwhile, the deadbeats we have now can be shipped to, oh say, China?

I don’t consider myself a Democrat or a Republican…I consider myself an American. I’ve voted Democrat as often as Republican and have been embarrassed by both parties (Carter being one of those and Bush being another).

What really drives me crazy is that there are people on this post and around this country that are so caught up in the media hype and spin that they can’t see past the end of their own nose.

I would vote for anyone regardless of party, color, religion, etc. if I thought they would actually deliver something other than rhetoric and more of the same ole same ole.

Don’t hold your breath on either McCain or Obama to change anything for the better…neither party has gotten the real message yet. We’ve been headed down this road for a long time and the Dems and Repubs got us here.
