The Rev. Wright makes an appearance
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Well, you knew it was going to happen sooner or later. An independent GOP group is apparently going to run this ad in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida. We’ll see; sometimes these groups don’t have the money they claim to have (note the fundraising appeal at the end).
It will also be interesting to see how Barack Obama reacts, if at all. In the past his campaign has been quick to hit back, but Obama now seems to be moving into the statesmanlike, heal-the-divisions phase typical of winning campaigns toward the end. Responding in kind may step on that message.
And the most important question, of course, is what it does to the polls. Does this hurt Obama, or does it end up boomeranging against McCain?

It is so wrong to take up space talking about Obama’s 20 year-long relationship with is mentor.
We could better use this space to hang Palin from a roof. Or talk about McCain really being Bush.
We could use this space better talking about McCain not being able to use the internet. Or about Palin’s clothing and accessories.
Didn’t I read in the AJC about McCain shooting a moose? And didn’t Palin one time pick her nose.

Ever hear Wright’s sermon about coming home after chemically straightening his hair and his mothers reaction? Brilliant! All kids and parents need to hear it.
But in the 20 second clip we’ve seen over and over and over…..he appears to scare some of the more timid of the caucasian persuasion.

H is the eighth letter of the alphabet. “88” is skinhead/Aryan Nations code for Heil Hitler.
“14” refers to the number of words in this skinhead/GOP mantra, which are the words skinheads - and many Bookman rightwingnut bloggers - live by:
“We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children.”

The men, Daniel Cowart, 20, of Bells, Tenn., and Paul Schlesselman 18, of West Helena, Ark., are being held without bond. Agents seized a rifle, a sawed-off shotgun and three pistols from the men when they were arrested. Authorities alleged the two men were preparing to break into a gun shop to steal more.CBS
Aahhh, yes, Tennessee and ArKKKansas, home of the brave:
Al Gore, Sr. Democrat, Tennessee, did not stop at simply voting against the Civil Rights Act of 1964. In addition, Congressional Quarterly reported that Gore attempted to send the Act to the Senate Judiciary Committee with an amendment to say “in defiance of a court desegregation order, federal funds could not be held from any school districts.” Gore sought to take the teeth out of the Act in the event it passed.
Ostensibly, Senator Gore was “elated” at the idea of young Al, Jr. going to school with black children. In reality, however, the future vice president attended an elite private school.
In the end, the Gore Amendment was defeated by a vote of 74-25. Senator J. William Fulbright of Arkansas, one of President Bill Clinton’s political mentors, was among the 23 southern Democratic senators and only one Republican voting with Gore for this racist amendment.
And now the offspring of these bigots practice the hate they were taught.

Anyone who mentions the Rev Wright must also bring up the Rev Hagee and Jerry Falwell.
I look at it this way:
Have you never had someone in your life who grew increasingly unlikable, that you finally had to separate yourself from? Someone who you just had to no longer be near?
On the other hand, have you ever had someone who said outrageous things, that you denounced years ago, but then you turned around and embraced that person, even tho that person was still an agent of intolerance?
Well, have you?

Bosch,
I don’t know if they consider themselves Christians, but I’d be willing to bet there were drugs involved during the “planning” sessions.
The pair’s “final act of violence” would be an attempt to kill Obama, the Democratic presidential nominee. In separate interviews with investigators, the men said that they planned to speed their vehicle toward Obama while “shooting at him from the windows.” Apparently befitting the historic assault, Cowart and Schlesselman “stated they would dress in all white tuxedos and wear top hats during the assassination attempt.”

To clarify: Sen Stevens was not convicted for receiving gifts and work on his home worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
He was convicted of lying about it on the financial disclosure forms.
He could have received the work and disclosed it - he would not have been tried - as long as he didn’t run afoul of the Senate’s contribution rules.
Same as Pres Clinton was not impeached for being randy. Articles were for lying.
Same as Libby wasn’t convicted for disclosing (alleging) Valerie Plame was a ‘covert’ agent (that honor goes to her husband). He was convicted of lying.
Public servants can get away with some pretty lousy behavior.

Paul, I have mixed feelings about the dipstick on the Orlando station getting her station on the Dems sh!tlist.
On the one hand, I think it’s a bit petty by the Obama camp. But Biden handled it with class and didn’t call the woman an unprofessional hack, which is what many who have seen her think, I suppose. And what many would have been inclined to do.
On the other hand (I feel like Tevye) it’s one thing for the incredibly ignorant, barely educated, willfully uninformed, rabid, far right wing, neo-con, hyper-partisan rabble to talk like complete sophomoric idiots.
And to use all sorts of meaningless straw men clichés, slogans and sound bites like commie, pinko, and now their new fave, Marxist. Because it sure sounds good to their fellow morons.
We see it here every single day.
But for a supposedly reputable news person to ask Biden with a straight face, if Obama is a Marxist, is just AMAZINGLY stupid.
In my opinion, it sadly makes the Orlando TV station look like a bunch of uneducated, mindless crackers.
I have contended for a long time that these horrifically misnamed conservatives are actually reactionaries (look it up frauds). And between that repulsive Michele Bachmann and all of these mini-Joe McCarthys, it looks like some in this country are still living in the 1950s.

You wanna see what makes a lib angry, since we know that someone screaming &*^ Damn America doesn’t?:
The pace of new home sales in the US rose by 2.7 per cent last month – a much better figure than forecast by economists. New home sales rose to an annualised rate of 464,000 units, the US commerce department said on Monday. The inventory of unsold homes also dropped, from 11.4 months’ supply in August to 10.4 months’ supply last month. The median sale price for a new home fell to $218,400, its lowest level in four years.
Nymex December West Texas Intermediate dropped as low as $61.30 a barrel, the lowest level since May 2007. WTI later pared some losses to trade 40 cents down on the day at $63.75 a barrel. Natural gas, heating oil and gasoline also fell.

I’ve followed it superficially. Having said that, my impression is this station was doing no different than other stations/reporters do - saying “the allegations are out there, so the public’s interested, so we ask the questions.” In effect, they repeat, in the form of a question, what’s being alleged “out there.”
It was a great opportunity for someone of Biden’s intellect to educate the people. Turn the question back with a bit of history and definition of terms (I read a long article in a major newspaper this weekend on the whole ‘socialist’ nonsense - and not once did the article ever define ‘socialist’!) and show how and why the charges are off base.
But he didn’t. Instead, there’s a blacklisting event, and evidently another. Dems aren’t supposed to imitate McCarthy.

Biden went a step beyond beyond not giving an instructive answer. He just asked if the question was a joke and then later asked the reporter who was writing her questions. So we get non responsive answers, a sexist slap, and then a blacklisting. Of course the cult members just tell us how great ol’ Joe did and then start trying to dig up dirt on the reporter.

RightWinger, what you talkin’ ‘bout. There isn’t anything intimidating about a hound dog and if you are going to get oneself intimately involved in the lives of others then one might reasonably expect to have others get a little more intimate with your affairs. It comes with the territory. As for starstruck, I’d bet that you are much more fixated on your Sarah than I am on anyone. Besides, I said that I give out the autographs. Hi, I’m an independent principled feisty flinty bipartisan maverick Bush-baiting senator whom the press boys love kibbitzing with. Great sense of humor. Recently I discovered from reading some of my favorite columnists at Newsweek, Time and so on - all the guys who used to whoop it up on the Straight Talk Express - that there seems to be another ‘John McCain’, who’s not independent principled feisty, etc, but is instead an old, cranky, bitter, extremist Bush poodle consumed by anger. What are the odds on two polar opposites having the same name?

Does the potential “Rev. Wright” ad hurt or help McCain? It could help him a bit against Obama, but he’s slipping in his race against his vice presidential choice. Apparently, Palin didn’t get the word (or the concept) that she’s supposed to be on the same side.

Marxism-
A belief that capitalism is based on the exploitation of workers by the owners of the means of production.
A belief that this dialectical historical process will ultimately result in a replacement of the current class structure of society with a system that manages society for the good of all, resulting in the dissolution of the class structure and its support (more often than not including the nation state)
The main points of contention among Marxists are the degree to which they are committed to a workers’ revolution as the means of achieving human emancipation and enlightenment, and the actual mechanism through which such a revolution might occur and succeed. Marxism is correctly but not exhaustively described as a variety of Socialism. Some Marxists, however, argue that no actual state has ever fully realized Marxist principles; other Marxists, such as Autonomists claim Marxist principles cannot be realized in any state construct seen through the 20th Century, and would necessitate a reconceptualization of the notion of state itself.

McCain has his own Reverend Wright.
For 8 years McCain sat in the congregation of “Reverend Dubya” and supported his disastrous policies.
He had opportunity after opportunity to get up and leave. He could have raised his hand and said, “This isn’t right.” Instead he praised “Reverend Dubya” and even recently bragged about supporting him more than most of his Republican colleagues.
Now, after 8 years of sitting silent, he wants to distance himself from “Reverend Dubya” now that it is politically convenient.
No one cares about Wright. He is a minister to whom Obama looked for spiritual guidance, not political guidance.
The same can’t be said for McCain’s adoration of “Reverend Dubya”.

Three reasons why bringing up Rev Wright now won’t work.
1) It makes McCain and the people who want him elected look desperate.
2) If McCain personally mentions it, he goes back on his word from March, when he said it was off the table.
3) Sarah Palin has her own pastor issues, which the media will bring up just to be “fair”.

Say what you will, if anything happens to this clown, we are in for riots, division, racial strife….. and it will set back the cause of racial equality for a generation. We will not recover from this in mine or your lifetime. We are two or more generations from being ready for this. We have been getting there for sometime, making pretty good progress, getting the job done. Gradual shifting of the prejudice of three or four generations to what we have accomplished in the last 50 yrs. We are in better racial shape in this country than we have ever been. Ok so Wright is way over the top for “whites.” Ok so he goes on rants about how America is kind of hypocritical when it keeps 15% of its population in continual poverty.
But let’s also talk about the right-wing religoNazis that say it’s ok to kill abortionists. Let’s talk about Eric Rudolph who bombed the 1996 Olympics hoping to start a race war and then bombed a womens clinic and a gay nightclub because he was Gods foot solider. Let’s talk about all the whites that supported him and actively helped him elude police. Let’s talk about Sarah Palin’s religoNazi church that preaches the Iraq war is a righteous holy war against the evil Muslims. Maybe someone will make an ad about how Palin’s church is very radical. But that’s ok because she’s a good little Rethuglicon.
When you vote Rethuglicon, you vote against your own best interests. And running an ad about Obama’s church while ignoring their own religoNazi radical views it living proof.

I see Ray, so the blacks should wait a few years ‘til things settle down, then they can get their chance to be POTUS…just like the 60’s when they used to complain about MLK “stirring things up” and “causing trouble” to get those civil rights…if King would have just been patient and gone along quietly he would have gotten them eventually without so much ugliness on TV. Got news for you, its a falsehood. The change over the past have not been “gradual” they’ve been accomplished by people risking their lives (and being killed). So the idea that a qualified black man shouldn’t run for POTUS because its going to “set back race relations” is laughable.

The Urinal is actually lending credence to the insane plot hatched by the decedents of al-Gore and Bill KKKlinton:
*The plotters also allegedly discussed fatally shooting 88 African-Americans and decapitating 14 others in a killing spree across the country —- choosing the numbers 88 and 14 because, officials said Monday, “they have special significance within the White Power movement.”
Daniel Cowart, 20, of Bells, Tenn., and Paul Schlesselman, 18, of West Helena, Ark., were charged in U.S. District Court in Nashville with illegal possession of a sawed-off shotgun, conspiracy to rob a gun store and making threats against a major presidential candidate.

It would be refreshing if there was actually non bias in the media.
We’ve heard all this stuff about McCain—how the Reps spent money outfitting Palin, how he’s conducting a dirty campaign against Obama. A study recently released in this newspaper stated that the majority of news releases on McCain were negative.
While Obama is a great speaker, there are so many unanswered questions about him. Why won’t his VP pick talk to news stations about Obama’s plan to ‘spread the wealth?’ Why won’t the LA Times release a 2003 tape of Obama lauding a known PLO leader? Why won’t he just answer questions about Ayers and get it over with?
After years of having an adminstration who keeps secrets, I’d find it refreshing if Mr. Obama would just answer the hard questions the mainstream media fail to ask.

McCain doesn’t exactly have clean hands, either. I’m aware of HIS associations, criminal, unethical and otherwise. However, I still believe that John McCain is a fine man, an able leader…but only the second best man for the job this election cycle.

It is a sad time in America, when people want to focus on where someone went to Church and what the preacher spoke from the pulpit. I assume that most of the posters that keep holding onto Rev. Wright are not persons of color. Do not judge a man until you have walked in his shoes…

Of course it hurts Hussein Obama Jay. How could it not when people find out he lied about not knowing Wrights radical hate towards the US and white people? I know you libs want this swept under the rug but people are still not sure about the “messiah” just yet. Something like this will help undecides make a much better decision to not vote for someone with such radical ties…

Yes one candidate is pro America, pro coservative free rights, pro religious freedom, pro personal responsibility, pro strong defense, pro a constitutional Supreme Court, pro small government , pro less government entitlements and spending, pro cutting taxes, and, pro American dream!
That candidate is McCain!

To gadem,
You are right. Only persons of color can know bias and not the other way around. It is just not possible (sarcasm).
Has there been biased against colored people, you bet. But it goes both ways, and yes I have not walked in a colored man’s shoes, but the opposite is true. I haven’t had AA or EEO hand me a job. I can’t pull the race card cause white people can’t do that. And don’t tell me there aren’t black people that are biased against whites for just being white. I think all people should be judged on their own individual merits regardless of race and without government interference.
Your other point - so you are saying that if you willingly listen to someone’s point of view for 20 years, you are somehow not swayed by it or you can’t be identified with it or you don’t agree with it by choosing to stay and listen to it year after year. That don’t compute. The link may be “old” news but it still doesn’t erase it. I’ll use an Obama/Biden trick and just laugh, wave my hand, and say it is politics and it just doesn’t count.

Zeke, Williebkind, Joe, etal.
Is not it interesting that some people hide their hate and racism under conservatism, hard work, patrotism, responsibilty etc. while always harping about lies and deceit when that is all they do under the flag of good americans who love their country and god. I have seen what this love does to people who are not of the right color, religion or gender. It is time for new leadership that understands the plight of those who have not always had a silver spoon in their mouths. If it leads to a war of the classes, then now is the time. Hopefully there will not be another civil war as I am not armed like the NRA.

dw, You don’t have to pull the race card. You are already ahead just by being a white…let’s just call a spade a spade and say that you guys are afraid for Obama to be POTUS because he is black. I don’t mind racist as long as they are honest about their racism. Am I racist…no. Am I prejudice, hell yes…however I spread my prejudice around. I despise ignorant people in general. Whether they are blacks that have tattoos all over their body and wonder why they can not get a decent job, or trailer trash whites that think they are better than you because they are white. I tell them to kiss my a$$. Unfortunately for you, will never understand how it is to be black no matter how much I type, and that is just the fact.

To SayNo2McCain,
So AA and EEO has never forced jobs to be given based on criteria/quotas. Ok if you say so.
My comments were not to say that any one individual is not more than qualified and was given a job solely on their own merits. Congrats for having abilities and getting your job on your own merits. But some folks have received jobs not just based on ability, and to me that is a bias. The whole intention of my blog was to state that bias works both ways.

dw, I agree that bias works both ways. However, since I have been to college to receive graduate degrees, I would like to think that I am being hired based upon my demonstrated skills and experience rather than my skin color. However in some cases doors need to be open to give qualified people an opportunity. If you don’t think that racism still exist, you are either being naive or disingenuous…

Are you ready for the next 8 years, and beyond? If not, you’ve got only a couple of months to secure what assets you have and tuck them away from the long reach of Obama/Pelosi/Reid/Frank. Someone will have to fund their additional giveaways, and it appears that successful, working, tax-paying Americans are becoming a minority. Why bother educating yourself or working so hard only to have it redistributed to those who chose poverty and dependence as a lifestyle? So where else to money-grab? Your retirement account of course. Politicians, not you, will decide how much you need to live on for the rest of your life. But until then, enjoy the Kool-Aid, embrace government as your great and powerful Oz until the curtain is pulled back.

dw,
Sure bias works both ways but white people have always had the advantage. If blacks were given the same rights at the same time as whites, we would not need affirmative action, quotas, set asides etc. Funny, I can remember during the Viet Nam war that the quotas for blacks going to fight was pretty high. I do not remember white people complaining about it then. I wonder why.

To Middle Class Tax Payer,
It seems that much of the time liberals, in these blogs, disregard the rights of conservatives to have a differing opinion than themselves, by sputtering that all conservatives opinions are based on hate and racism. All are not based on those criteria. Some folks opinions may be based on that, but not all. I would even say a very small percentage. But your blanket statements of hate and racism are incorrect and used as a bully tactic. I would go so far as to say that there is a small percent of ultra ultra liberals that match pretty closely the small percent of ultra ultra conservatives (who may base their opinions on hate and are not Christians as the liberal media likes to say they are) that would squash the other side if given the chance. Hopefully the vaste majority in the middle will stop that from ever occurring. Your rambling states that conservatives don’t love America and God. Bull!!! Most do. Notice the capital “G”.
Lastly, your statement regarding a class war is very scary. Although I think some people get paided way more than they ever should, this is still a capitalist country. Do you throw the baby out with the bathwater. America as it sits today (even with “W” in office) is still better than any other place in the world. Let’s not turn it into Canada socialism.

As usual the liberal (socialist) left fails to address the issue by trying to change the subject and/or saying, “let’s talk about the issues”. They would like everyone else to forget that the PRIMARY issue in any presidential race is character … and that Obama’s association with Ayers and longime relationship with Wright speack directly to Obama’s character. I have never yet heard Obama or his followers/fans logically explain how he can have such a high IQ and such lack of awareness that he continued to associate with those two scumbags and Rashid Khalidi, too. Unless, of course, he agrees with their worldview - which is NOT what most Americans believe.
