America under President Obama: A view from the Christian Right
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Focus on the Family, an evangelical Christian group founded by Dr. James Dobson, claims to reach more than 220 million people in 155 nations, and Dobson himself is often described as the nation’s most influential evangelical leader. He is deeply involved in Republican Party politics, and his support is urgently courted by party leaders. It may not be mainstream in some ways, but it is certainly mainstream in terms of the power it wields.
Now, through their political and lobbying arm, the folks at Focus on the Family have been good enough to peer into their crystal ball to let us see what the United States is going to look like by 2012 should the American people be so foolish as to elect Barack Obama as their president.
Their description of America in another four years, contained in a “letter from the future,” is not a pretty sight. Here are a few highlights:
— By 2012, Obama has remade the U.S. Supreme Court into an activist, pro-gay institution, and as a result “the Boy Scouts no longer exist as an organization. They chose to disband rather than be forced to obey the Supreme Court decision that they would have to hire homosexual scoutmasters and allow them to sleep in tents with young boys.”
— “Tens of thousands of Christian (public school) teachers either quit or were fired, and there are hardly any evangelical teachers in public school any more… In addition, many private Christian schools decided to shut down after the Supreme Court ruled that anti-discrimination laws that include sexual orientation extended to private institutions such as schools.”
— “There are no more Roman Catholic or evangelical Protestant adoption agencies,” and Christian parents are being refused the right to adopt by secular adoption agencies because they have “”narrow’ or dangerous views on religion or homosexuality.”
— “The Bible can no longer be freely preached over radio or television stations when the subject matter includes such ‘offensive’ doctrines as criticizing homosexual behavior.” In addition, “churches have no freedom to refuse to allow their buildings to be used for wedding ceremonies for homosexual couples.” and “homosexuals are now given special bonuses for enlisting in military service.”
— Christian nurses, physicians, family counselors, lawyers and other professionals are being stripped of their right to work in those fields, and because homeschooling is now all but outlawed, thousands of homeschooling parents are moving their families to Australia or New Zealand.
— The U.S. Supreme Court has “nullified all Federal Communications Commission restrictions on obscene speech or visual content in radio and television broadcasts. As a result, television programs at all hours of the day contain explicit portrayals of sexual acts.”
— After President Obama pulled U.S. troops out of Iraq, “Al Qaida operatives from Syria and Iran poured into Iraq and completely overwhelmed the Iraqi security forces,” followed by mass executions. “The number put to death may soon reach the millions.”
— Four U.S. cities have been hit by terror attacks, and “in mid-2010, Iran launched a nuclear bomb that exploded in the middle of Tel Aviv… President Obama said he abhorred what Iran had done, and he hoped the U.N. would unanimously condemn this crime against humanity.”
— Russia has invaded and captured Georgia, Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Bulgaria “with no military response from the U.S. or the U.N.” Instead, President Obama moved to strengthen US ties with communist regimes in Cuba, Venezuela and Bolivia.
— Health care has been nationalized, and “the waiting list for prostate cancer surgery is 3 years.” In fact, “people older than 80 have essentially no access to hospitals or surgical procedures. Their ‘duty’ is increasingly thought to be to go home to die….”
— “Conservative talk radio, for all intents and purposes, was shut down by the end of 2010,” and evangelical Christian book publishers have been barred from selling their products through Amazon, Borders and Barnes and Noble. And dozens of Bush officials, from the Cabinet level on down, are in jail.
“When did all this start?” the folks at Focus on the Family ask, looking back at us in hindsight from 2012. “Christians share a lot of the blame. In 2008, many evangelicals thought Senator Obama was an opportunity for ‘change’ and they voted for him…. Many people thought he sounded so thoughtful, so reasonable.” Instead, the letter claims, by 2012 Obama had moved to repress all dissent to the point that “hardly any brave citizen dares to resist the new government policies any more.”
This is what millions of our fellow Americans are being told to believe by leaders in whom they place great faith and confidence. This is why you can sense a rising tide of panic from some quarters as it begins to sink in that Barack Obama is likely to become our next president. It is vile, irresponsible and unbelievable fantasy, but to many it is revealed truth. And it is difficult to imagine how that world view can ever be reconciled with that of the mainstream.

Is Dobson gay? He seems to be incredibly preoccupied by gay thoughts for someone who claims to be straight. Wouldn’t be the first time, eh?

Jay, it amazes me that these ‘religionists’, NOT Christians, are soo hypocritical in their brand of Christianity. For example, they ONLY support life when it is in the womb but don’t mind if life outside the womb is being destroyed with bombs. They actually praise and cheer wars, and “accuse” opponents of wars as being “peaceniks” and “pacifists”, as if God hates peace. Yet, the same hypocrites claim to be “pro-life”.
NO WHERE IN THE WORLD IS THEIR BRAND OF CHRISTIANITY PRACTISED where bloodshed of the innocent is cannonized as patriotism and the poor are vehemently loathed.
They have thrown everthing at Obama but are surprised nothing sticks. All they now have is their usual fear-mongering which will also ultimately fail. The people are now seeing them for who they are. They scared the people into supporting going into unnecessary wars which have contributed to bankrupting this country. The people will not be fooled again.
Amazingly, the same bunch will vote for GW Bush a 3rd time if he qualified to run again, despite his abyssmal performance in office. Watch…The more they attack Obama, the more his numbers go up….Now even Arizona, McCain’s own home turf is about to be in play.

Dang, Jay. I thought for sure you were working on a piece about how if you ask Obama/Bideen questions they don’t like you get banned from the interview list.
Instead, you were working on another conservative bashing piece to go in the long line with all the others. Who knew?
So, Jay, was it McCain or Palin who sat in Dobson’s church for 20 years hearing these “hate” messages while not really hearing them?

I happen to know a lot of people who believe every word that leaves Dobson’s mouth. Sometimes I want to puke all over them.
These idiots played a part in getting Dubya in the Presidency. I’m a Christian(as is Obama) and I strongly believe that at least 50 percent of these people will wind up in hell.
Jesus taught tolerance, and to love everyone. These people are a disgrace.
The most bigoted, intolerant people in the world are wacko radical Christians.
It is way past time for this country to go back to when there was no religious test for office.
With all of these lies they’re pushing about Obama, I guess the wacko right feels the commandment on not bearing false witness doesn’t apply to them.
Finally, I wonder how they feel about Palin having her demons exorcised by that witch-doctor. Not exactly something that my kind of Christianity smiles upon.
Stupid people are bad enough. Loud stupid people who are also hypocrites are pathetic.

“This might just be the perfect companion to John McCain’s “the economy is fundamentally strong” gaffe. Sunday morning on Meet The Press, McCain told Tom Brokaw that he and George W. Bush shared a “common philosophy.”
Do we share a common philosophy of the Republican Party? Of course.”
All they got is gridlock because their philosophy has turned into socialism for the rich.
Gridlock when our country is falling apart is not country first or real American.

Juxtapose: What if he turns out to be a physical conservative appointing the type of individuals America needs in power. Most of us who went off to college back at 18 were liberal thinkers, time and real life experiences alter, or as I say “mature” our view points. Obama is 48 now, and wouldn’t it be funny if after the election all this liberal jargon turned out to just that, lip service for votes.
Paul Volker endorsement, Colin Powell endorsement….Hmmm…No liberal there….
On the other hand, yeah he is going to need the same kind of liberal voter as the unwashed drum beating trash that hang out on 14th and Peachtree street with the “fight rainbows not war signs” to get elected. Posterity tells us thast you have to pander to the people who pay the bills and fill the coffers in order too stay elected. I am going to put my money on this type of forethought and say that we will have a much more Clinton style administration with the Republicans pushed back into a corner where they fight best outnumbered and in a minority.

So it was fine for Farrakhan to call Obama “The Messiah” and he is not using the pulpit to send a group to vote one way or another. Have some dignity and respect for yourself and what your word is and stands for.
To not bring up the remarks of many religious leaders who have said things of a ridiculous nature and then point out those of a conservative show those who do as the hypocritical, blabbering mouths they are. If you cannot be fair and honest in your accusations of how something is wrong or bad then understand the thinking world knows you to be a fool and you only verify it when you speak.
Just cannot understand how so many people feel their candidate does nothing wrong and the other candidate must be evil.
Be fair, what is good is good what is bad is bad.
If something is an issue talk about it if it is not don’t talk about it.
This was the words of one man and some of you are using it to divide a nation against agroup of people. People who may have “actually” not heard what he said.
Bookman and others this is nothing more than an attempt to divide the people of our country, through trying to villify our fellow country men. Sick to see you want to divide us.

Why are these religious groups NOT being investigated for this ridiculous slander?!
We have Rick Warren’s “chosen frozen” hosting a Q&A only so they could give THEIR warped view afterwards. Now the idiots at FOTF are piping in.
Whatever happened to separation of church and state? I’m no expert on the subject, but aren’t there specific rules to the church’s “tax exemption” status?
Interfering in politics on SUCH A GRAND SCALE would certainly undermine our democracy AND violate those rules. It’s MY business who I vote for!
I’m all for religious beliefs, but fear-mongering from the ignorant Jerry Falwells of the world shows nothing more but their racial bias and downright hatred and intolerance of anyone who doesn’t believe SPECIFICALLY like they do!
As I understand it, the job of the pastor is to SHEPHERD the Church. How does inciting hatred and fear in such a manner HELP the sheep? I have a HUGE problem with that!
Who will speak up for our rights as human beings, and as Americans if we do not?
Believe what you want, and more power to you, but don’t you DARE try to shove your hate-filled “doctrines of demons” down our throats!

I have issues with the way the right has co-opted the Christian religion for political purposes.
People typically think of cursing as “taking the Lord’s name in vain,” but I think using your faith to try to get votes is the ultimate in taking the Lord’s name in vain.
I wish politicians in the future, when asked about their religious beliefs would just say, “You know, our founding fathers, in their wisdom, separated church and state, and out of respect for that, I’m not going to answer questions about my religious beliefs. It’s not about what I say, anyway, it’s about what I’ve done. You can look at my life and make up your own mind as to whether I am a good man.”
And, as Willa Cather said in My Antonia, “the prayers of all good men are good.”

WAKE UP PEOPLE and open your EYES.
I am an actual Christian, not one portrayed by silly tv shows, or the silly media of this world. It’s amazing how many people feel so threatened by us, they have to sit all day and try to make us look coo-coo for coa-coa puffs. The people doing that don’t really know any real christians. They are going by what they see and read on tv and newspapers. If Jesus is not real and he is not the way, Why are so many going out of their way to try and discredit real christians. Im so tired of all the wining from every one about how they are picked on, because they don’t believe or their lifechoice. I’m tired of my right to believe in my savior being intruded on too. I’ll pray for you all. Get over it. After all if it is all crap, Why are you so scared of us you spread lies about us everyday? Why do you feel so threatened? Or maybe you know deep down, Jesus is coming back one day, and maybe your wrong. You cry all day long about your rights, your beliefs, your rights to do what you want, we are suppose to accept your nonsense shoved done our throats. But whoa, if we want to pray for a minute before a game or before a meal or if we choose to attend church, were offending you. Get over you. I AM A CHRISTIAN, I WORSHIP THE LORD YOU WON”T CHANGE THAT OBAMA, AND I’M A AMERICAN AND IM NOT ALONE. YALL LAUGH IT UP FOR NOW. You all have heard of Dobson’s “Focus on the Family” gay child conversion therapy. The one where he tells dad to shower with his gay son so the kid can see dads manliness?
Well what do you do if your child comes out of a different closet and says “Mom, dad,….. I’m a liberal.”
Simple, try the all new ‘Focus on the Family: “Methods for Converting Your Liberal Child.”
Here is a sample:
Meanwhile, the boy’s father has to do his part. He needs to mirror and affirm his son’s Conservatism. He can play rough-and-tumble games with his son, in ways that are decidedly different from the games he would play with the little Sissie-boy liberal in his 3rd grade class. He can help his son learn to aim and shoot a gun. He can teach him to pound a square wooden peg into a round hole in a pegboard. He can even take his son with him into the bathtub, where the boy cannot help but notice that Dad can make bubbles, just like his, only bigger.
Thats right, as a Conservative father you must stress to your child the importance of your hot air, its all you have left. Your child will be amused and impressed with your hot air. You now have a Young Republican.
Congrats!

Throughout history, people have used the name of God and of Christ to perpetrate all manner of hate, injustice, even genocide. Such people need to be exposed. Yes, the so-called Christian Right is abusing God and Christ to promote in this country a politics of hate, intolerance, and white supremacy! Yes, that’s what’s going on, and they need to be called out on that.
In Jesus’ time, he showed no tolerance for those merchants who turned the House of God into a den of profiteers and thieves. All Christians must stand up to those using the name of God to promote an agenda that advances their own narrow, selfish political and economic interests.

Good Morning all:
Dobson and his ilk are an embarassment to Colorado Springs.
Fortunately, they mostly live a ways up north in a self-contained area called Briargate, with invisible walls that keep them in and the rest of us out.
We locals tend to look upon them with bemused curiosity, until something like the above trash reminds us that FOF has a lot of money for marketing and broadcast.
Then we hang our heads in shame, and wonder which large corporation will be next to pull out of the city because of their culture of ignorance and hatred.
To add insult to injury, FOF squats here with huge tax breaks offered a generation ago.
But there is a silver lining. The old guard has started to see the error if its ways. Almost losing the Olympic Committee last year was a big wake-up call. Even the entrenched Old Monied Business realizes that FOF’s time has come and gone, and have begun to address how to repair the city’s reputation.
So next Tuesday when Colorado goes blue, with a big red dot right here in the Springs, that’s THEM.
Just so you’ll know where to send your prayers, for the rest of us :-)
Peace.

These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
A proud look a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

My Word! What a lot of poppycock and nonsense. Who died and made the writer of this rubbish a fake a** Nostradamus. I could have predicted the last eight years with ease but most weren’t willing to listen. Pipe dreams seldom come true and this entire nation has been living one. You don’t get something for nothing and our borrow against the future, credit card use and grandious ideas of making money with no hard capital to back it up has lead to the financial crisus we find ourselves in. Obama is trying to let us know that hard work and scarifice is the only way out of this mess. The party is over and the bills have come due. Tighten your belt, toss the credit cards (I’m so glad to see lay-a-way back in vogue) and don’t buy what you can’t afford. Save money the old fashion way, the dividends might not be as large but at least the loses aren’t as great. Pay your bills on time and build your credit score so that when you are ready to make that really big purchase you can do it with the confidence that you can repay. Most of our problems are self-inflicted (exceptions can include job lay offs) so watch your money, no one can do it better than you. Stop acting like kids in a candy store. And don’t listen to gloom and doomers. Thinking like that will only depress you and make you as crazy as they are.

Since you are a theologian, please tell us all about the life of Jesus. Did Jesus come to Earth to feed the poor? He said there would always be poor people. The difference between a Christian and you is that Christians give their own money to help people. You sit around and tell other people that they should give money cause it makes you feel good about yourself. By the way, when is the last time you actually helped a person get out of poverty? Christians want people out of poverty where as Obama and liberals want to keep them in their place.

I used to be an avid follower of James Dobson, and Focus on the Family. Back in the 80’s, when my children were small, he was a staple in our home. But after many years of following their doctrine, I found myself questioning some of their motives. And frankly, what I found was disturbing. Actually, getalife:
Those teachings tell you & I to notice and help the poor, hungry, and show love to all people. There’s nothing in that book about electing a politician to do it on your behalf! There’s nothing absoving you nor I of that responsiblity by selecting benevolent leaders to do it for us.
There is a whole lot about how we should sacrifice and serve others through our time, talents, and resources. There’s nothing telling us that we should let “Caesar do it for us”.
There’s also alot about not taking what belongs to someone else (regardless of your good intentions for it) without their consent (aka stealing). Personally, I agree that a number of people (on the right and left) “use God’s name in vain” by trying to use his authority to justify what they want to do or think.
And for the record, in more than one occasion, we are told to thoughtfully consider things and make good decisions instead of blindly supporting someone “who actually talks” about one thing or another. We’re actually told that people are “known” by their actions.
For example: Senator Biden and his nearly-nonexistent focus on charity when it was his own money! However, something tells me that he will be much more “generous” when it is someone else’s money he is “spreading around”.

Communist @2:25 asks when was the last time Christians (to paraphrase) perpetrated evil on a mass scale.
Well, if you look back through history, Communist, it was generally when the church was in cahoots with the government and had the force of law — Puritanical New England, Catholic Ireland, Nazi Germany, the Inquisition, etc.
That’s why, when I hear the Christian right lament that we’ve “taken God out of the public square” (really meaning government), I have to wonder if they ever finished high school.

Krauthammer makes a point: Biden says young Obama will be tested. Foreign policy-wise. How’s Obama fared on the foreign policy tests he’s already faced?
[[Obama’s own running mate warned this week that Obama’s youth and inexperience will invite a crisis — indeed a crisis “generated” precisely to test him. Can you be serious about national security and vote on Nov. 4 to invite that test?
And how will he pass it? Well, how has he fared on the only two significant foreign policy tests he has faced since he’s been in the Senate? The first was the surge. Obama failed spectacularly. He not only opposed it. He tried to denigrate it, stop it and, finally, deny its success.
The second test was Georgia, to which Obama responded instinctively with evenhanded moral equivalence, urging restraint on both sides. McCain did not have to consult his advisers to instantly identify the aggressor.
Today’s economic crisis, like every other in our history, will in time pass. But the barbarians will still be at the gates. Whom do you want on the parapet? I’m for the guy who can tell the lion from the lamb. ]]

Seriously, these are the nuts who believe in the inerrancy of the book of Revelation, (which Nineteenth-century agnostic Robert G. Ingersoll branded “the insanest of all books”. Thomas Jefferson omitted it entirely from the Bible he edited, and wrote that he “considered it as merely the ravings of a maniac, no more worthy nor capable of explanation than the incoherences of our own nightly dreams”. “Martin Luther found it an offensive piece of work” and “John Calvin had grave doubts about its value.)”replete with raptures, the four horsemen of the apocalypse and unending plagues.

Ride through some of the smaller towns in the southern part of our state and see just how many corporations and factories there are. Most locally owned and making over the 250k. That means people in those towns are going to lose their jobs not because of bad performance, but because their boss made too much money.
There are more parts to our country than metropolitan.
I live in a smaller town and can guarantee that there are going to be job losses at successful companies all because they are going to be overtaxed.
How is it not divisive to cost people their jobs only for doing it well?

What is going on here? I am a Christian and if Republicans are called “right” then I am right also. But I have found nothing of interest in James Dobson. Never read him but once or twice in a newspaper. Never heard him on radio or TV. Have NEVER heard him mentioned at church. Can’t think of one friend who have ever mentioned James Dobson.
The first thing you should know (as I found on Google): HE IS NOT A MINISTER OF ANY CHURCH. He holds a Doctorate in Child Development from the U. of Southern California. He was on the staff of Children’s Hospital of LA for seventeen years. He is a licensed psychologist in California.
His program “Focus on the Family” is said to be well known and liked by many Christians. He has received many humanitarian awards, one recently from the Radio Hall of Fame. That is a brief history of James Dobson.
If Dobson wants to make political predictions, he is one of many.
Why Bookman thinks this is important and reflects on McCain as a candidate, I do not know. Maybe he is trying to stir up liberal”gays” as Google noted that they had protested the pronouncements of Dobson.
Bookman obviously thinks writing up Dobson will work against Republicans. I guess he will use anything out there for a vote.

Jesus taught tolerance when He has asks to forgive 70 times 7 - (thats asking you to tolerate those that despise you and reject you) when you are to turn the other cheek (he also says that if a man robs you of one cloak give him your sandals as well) that speaks tolerance. God loves all of us those that believe in Him and the ones that don’t whether you are black, white, yellow, brown, gay, straight and even when we treat each other the way we do over POLITICS. He allows us to continue to stay on this earth that he created for us and we continue to defile it daily by our thoughts words and deeds - yet he gives us his unconditional love this is tolerance at its best…i just wanted you to know - Christianity has no place coming from the spewed hatred of both sides (right or left)…Wright was wrong and it was hatred - Dobson is wrong and it is hatred - in God’s eyes a sin is a sin - and these two men have both fallen short

Raising taxes a few percentage points is not going to cause widespread job loss. You can blame it on Obama all you want, but it’s just not the case.
It wasn’t the case during Clinton’s years as President and it won’t be true with Obama. Obama plans to use pretty much the same economic plan as Clinton. The economy flourished during that time. It will be okay.

ATLANTA (AP) - Federal judges have ordered Georgia elections officials to stop using Social Security numbers and driver’s licenses to check voters’ immigration status until the U.S. Justice Department decides whether to approve the process.
Georgia is one of several states that needs federal approval before changing election policy because of a history of discriminatory voting practices.
The three-judge panel’s 27-page ruling Monday orders Georgia officials to make “diligent and immediate” efforts to notify voters who have been flagged as ineligible.
It also blocks the state from removing flagged names from voter lists unless voters say in writing that they are ineligible.

Paul, agreed.
And does that mean we are to take Dobson’s “predictions” and statements figuratively as well?
“Patrick Leahy is a God’s people hater. I don’t know if he hates God, but he hates God’s people.”
“Here at Focus on the Family, we’re not political.”
“Homosexuals are not monogamous. They want to destroy the institution of marriage. It will destroy marriage. It will destroy the Earth.”
“Christians have made arguments on both sides of this question. I certainly believe that God is displeased with America for its pride and arrogance, for killing 40 million unborn babies, for the universality of profanity and for other forms of immorality. However, rather than trying to forge a direct cause-and-effect relationship between the terrorist attacks and America’s abandonment of biblical principles, which I think is wrong, we need to accept the truth that this nation will suffer in many ways for departing from the principles of righteousness.
Dobson even found a way to excuse Mark Foley’s repugnant behavior with congressional pages. “The Mark Foley affair has “urned out to be what some people are now saying was a — sort of a joke by the boy and some of the other pages” who came forward with sexually explicit instant messages that Foley sent.”
None of that qualifies as hate speech but does anyone really need yet more corroboration that he is a political hack of the cloth?
McCain no doubt considers him one of the primary “agents of intolerance”…

I am not sure how the conversation migrated to separation of church and state or lunatics bombing buildings (clinics, government, or otherwise). As a matter of fact, the concept that people of faith should sacrifice and serve their “neighbors” (love them as yourself) instead of electing politicians to do it for you IS separation of church (or a moral “church” ethic) and state (government). The entire justification for the welfare society / “economic justice” based on the Christian ethic is as much a violation of the standard liberal idea of “separation of church and state” as anything any of those whom you label “kooks” would suppose.
That said, anyone who would bomb clinics with innocent civilians or kill doctors for providing what is a legal procedure (with which I may disagree) should be treated like the the criminals (nigh even terrorists) that they are.
David: For the record, I support your taxes being lower so that you can support / serve whatever interests you see fit. Much of what calls itself American Christianity today (look at all those mega-churches) has nothing to do with what Christianity stands for.
Sure, there are pockets of Christian people attempting to do the right thing, but they often get marginalized because the Christian Right casts such a large shadow.
It has become the religion of self-interest, of looking after one’s self before caring for others. The argument is, somehow, “hey people, wait until I get mine, and then I can give my tithe to my church who will figure out what to do with it.”
While it sounds like the notion that we as Americans have come to know, this is not the way that America came to be this great nation.
I hope that as we enter into the challenges that this economy has placed into our laps for the next few years, that we might recapture some of what has made us a great country in the past.
Those “other voices” will clearly need to be heard, for the Christian Right has already shown they cannot be counted on to provide this country with anything approaching moral courage.

During the six-month period ending September, the newspaper’s circulation fell to 274,999 — a 13.6 percent drop from the same period a year ago. Figures are based on a Monday through Friday average.
This latest drop comes after a 8.5 percent decline in circulation in the previous six month period ending March 31, where circulation numbers were 326,907, and a 9.1 percent decline in the six month period before that.
“Regarding circulation, the recent results are in line with our expectations, are no surprise and reflect several key strategic decisions,” said Jennifer A. Obama is a closet gay that’s why he supports same sex marriage and being a crackhead, he might also allow legalization of all drugs. It looks like America will have the first black gay crackhead radical muslim president whether we like it or not with the help of ACORN and the media. The media has been recently publishing articles that the election has already been won by Obama to discourage McCain supporters to go out and vote. I reckon ACORN’s multi-million fraudulent voter regsitrations will have a bloody consequence that will spark serious riots if not a full blown civil war. Obama knew the outcome of ACORN’s blatant vote cheating that’s why he will do his best to confiscate our guns to make everyone render helpless to defy his leadership. Not to mention his stance in giving amnesty to all 20 million illegals regardless of their criminal convictions. He also won’t disclose his foreign donors especially those from his Islamic brothers. Many have predicted including CNN that it won’t be long when he will be assasinated and we will have to live the fact that Joe Biden will be our president and Nancy Pelosi as VP.

C’mon, so many of these right-wing Christians are closeted homosexuals, otherwise they would just ignore the homosexuality and move on with their lives. Instead, they’re afraid that their truth will one day be revealed.
The arguments in that “warning letter” are so absurd and laughable, I’m actually embarrassed for Dobson to be associated with such a report.

Swami,
I don’t think our taxes are the problem, but how they are being used. We spend 30 times more than all our enemies combined on defense. Ike’s dire warning about the military-industrial complex has come to fruition, and no one seems to give a damn.
For all our differences, between conservatives and liberals, I think we’d be better served working on issues of common ground: government accountability, sustainable energy, infrastructure, and healthcare.
i’m a social liberal, but fiscal conservative, more centrist than anything else. I don’t think that this economy will sustain any grand visions by either candidate, and with luck the senate and/or congress will likely reign in any delusions of grandeur by Obama or McCain, given the public outcry this year.
If McCain wins, I can live with that, because I think he’s a good man. Palin is the only reason I really worry about a McCain win, because then I have to really hope that he doesn’t die.
In my personal opinion, with this election we are really blessed with two good candidates. I’ve chosen Obama, because the old guard needs to go and rebuild. I don’t know what happened to conservatism, but it needs to fail in order to be reborn.

I wonder how CommunistAJC could even DREAM of making the statement he did at 2:18p.
Let me ask you a question, well a FEW..
Why is it that White Supremacists like the KKK scream Christianity the loudest when they are peddling their hatred and burning crosses??? “Jayshus Chriiist” this and that.
Why do so-called Christians (which I happen to be one myself) display such hatred and intolerance against those who are not like them?
Why did the United States use the Bible and “Christianity” to enslave an entire people for hundreds of years?
How about getting your arguments straight. Because Obama was a member of a church where the preacher said some nasty things about some of the country’s ugliest acts (which happened to be true by the way) , doesn’t amount to he himself “teaching hate”.
My own preacher has said (and other’s I have heard - white and black) things that really p!$$ed me off, but you know what?? They are imperfect MEN. My relationship is with God. Any fool who believes that any MAN walking this earth does or SHOULD have such a great power of influence on anyone’s life….it’s no wonder so many of YOU are so broken.

For some reason, the Christian Conservative movement has shrunk God down small enough to need a right-wing conservative government in the United States to do His will.
All that happens does so because God accepts it or allows it. Sin exists because it is allowed. Poor, weak little God needs their help, if you listen to their drivel.
Although this twisted theology in and of itself is terribly sad, what is worse is that the movement lives in sin as it focuses on the kingdom of man while distracting so many from the kingdom of heaven.
If you pray, please pray for these sad, pathetic lost souls to find their way back to love and submission to God’s will.
If you don’t pray, know that these who would cast you aside and spurn you as something less than they are…are completely wrong.
They don’t represent a God of love, mercy and justice, but resemble the false prophets of which their own Bible warns.

And the religionists like Dobson are the ultimate control freaks.
But here’s the rub.
In this secular country, I imagine there are countless Americans who feel like I do — don’t ask, don’t tell.
I do not want to know about your gods and saviors. I do not want to know about your faith. I do not want to know about your dogma.
And In return I won’t tell you about mine.
But for the worst of these fundies and evangelicals, that ain’t good enough. And it never has been.
They still don’t get the message that Americans are now telling them loud and clear — DO NOT shove your god in our face anymore.
And stay the hell out of the public schools, the state houses and the White House.
And we’ll stay the hell out of the seminaries, churches and conventions…

Just curious. At what point in that MBA program at Duke did you finally come to the realization that the AJC is some sort of front for communism in America. I mean, what gave it away. Sure it took more than a few courses in statistics and finance for you to reach that conclusion. Was it one of your teachers in your sophomore year, junior year? What? While I am a conservative Bible believing Christian, I don’t see a place for this type of rhetoric from FOTF. It’s uncalled for and only adds confusion and speculation to an already unsteady election climate. I am by no means an Obama supporter but do feel that he has the best in mind for America as he sees it, just as I do McCain.
My Christian beliefs and values influence my stance however neither political party holds up to Christian doctrine. The U.S. was set up to be a Republic of elected officials that represent the values, views and beliefs of their constituency. I vote on who I feel is most in line with my beliefs be it Dem or Rep. We are not a theocracy, we are not a “Christian Nation” but we are to be a government of the people. Christian values and principles will be in Washington as long as Christians are elected…and yes that is how it was intended. As long as it is representative of the people then it is they way it was set up.
In other words vote your conscience and it will be as intended.

^^^^ What part of Chicago do you live in? If you were really from Chicago you would know that Obama has done loads, and loads for the poor and disenfranchised in the city of Big Shoulders aka the Murder Capitol of America aka The Windy City. Lets take for intsance the legislation he bought forth to the state senate in Illinois that made the biggest gang in Chicago the Chicago Police Dept, start taping all confessions of suspects under police interogation, along with writing them down. This bill snowballed and the end result was 9 of the 14 people on Illinois’s death row had their sentences commuted due to lack of evidence in their respective cases. Obama has done nothing but fight for the poor, discriminated against, and whatever other downtrodden sector of society you can think of. If you ask me the simple fact that he moved to Chicago to accept a $8,000 a year gig as a community organizer right after he finished Harvard, when he could have gone into corparate America and made six figures easy speaks more volumes about the integrity of his character than you idiot bible thumping wingnuts could do to demean it. Midori, Um, YES!
Well, I was in a tiny village in Mexico on the 17th of September, 1985. And I had a vision-like experience climbing a mountain there, on the top of which is a temple to the Mexo-American Christ figure, Ketso Quato. And one of these little UFOs came over that mountain and I was signaled from a group of persons to come. And I was beamed up into that small vehicle and carried to a larger vehicle, where I heard the voice of my leader and teacher, the Honorable Elijah Mohamed (search), saying these words to me, in early September, the president met with his joint chiefs of staff to plan a war. He didn’t tell me who the war was against or what not. But early in the next year, it came to me while I was in Ghana that this war was against Libya and Libya’s leader Muammar Qaddafi. So I went there and warned him of what was about to take place. And it did take place. - louis farrakhan

Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou HYPOCRITE, FIRST cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

You know I think it’s kinda of odd he calls himself a conservative Christian when he is mocking Obama for wanting to “spread the wealth “when Jesus himself was for the spreading of wealth to the poor. In Matthew Chapter 19 the rich young man asked what he had to do to get eternal life and Jesus answered “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” …seems like McCain and his followers are Chrisitans when it is most convenient to them…I know most Christians are support McCain because he is against abortion and gay marriages. However, we must take into account that neither McCain nor Obama will ever stop abortions or two people of the same sex to love each other. Whether we like it or not that is a reality of world. I don’t say these things because I am for this things because I am not and in God eyes this is an abomination. However, I have come to accept that sin is in our world and it will never go away until the day that God comes and put an in to this.

He warned rich people about mistreating the poor. Obama is rich. Should Obama sell his million dollar house in Hyde Park and give his money to the poor? Jesus said that there will always be poor people. Christians want to help poor people get out of poverty. Governments keep people poor. Look at Africa, Haiti, Cuba, China etc… Americas homeless are rich in comparison to other countries. I see tons of fat homeless people all the time in Chicago. AmVet,
You are certainly free to reject Almighty God and His free gift, and it sounds as though you are rather firm in your rejection of Him. And that is your right for God instilled free will in man and you’ve made your choice clear.
America as a nation has largely rejected God—with 40 million abortions, removal of prayer from school, gay marriage, etc. we have clearly communicated “our right” to reject God.
But know this, God’s justice is perfect and this nation will not stand because we are disobedient to Him. This is not a guess but it is His Word.
My prayer for you is that you change your mind, accept His free gift of salvation, and recognize that there is a higher power than yourself or government.
America is unique in that our founders realized that power is handed down from God to the people who in turn give some limited powers to government. This is the basis on which we were founded though most folks don’t realize it, understand it, or even care. But it’s what makes America unique.
And when we turn from our founding principles, we turn from God’s authority.
“Obey God and leave all the consequences to Him”. (CFS)

Interesting to see some of the non-christians comments. Quite frankly knowing most of your readers are “left-wing loons” it dosen’t surprise me that they do not like Dr. Dobson.
I never read your column, but your headline caught my attention. After reading your comments, it confirmed to me that I miss nothing by never bothering to read your columns. You fit right in with the “lefties” (except Wooten), at the AJC.

Barack Obama claims he’s a Christian, yet supports gay marriage, abortion, and multiple other sins. If you were really a Christian you would put God first, not what ‘the people’ want. Who fricken cares about ‘the people’ and how they want to live with their gayness. As a ‘Christian’, he should be doing everything he can to represent God and what is right. He is no Christian. He was raised Muslim…are you kidding me. A Muslim running our country. He also participates in American flag burning ceremonies - need I say more? He also said that when it comes down to it, he will stand by the Muslims. Wow. Turn his back on our country, and stand by the Muslims. Really? Anyone who doesn’t see how this man is the anti-Christ is an ignorant fool. He is the devil in the flesh. I am so glad I won’t be here when he takes over everything. When he makes all you fools take the mark of the beast on your forehead. Jesus is coming! Hallelujah, praise the Lord!

Hey CommunistyAJC -
I realize someone said you were not educated so you responded that you got your MBA from Duke, but, c’mon, even you can admit that where you went to school does not always have a strong correlation to your intelligence. Just ask George W. Bush.
Earlier you said that the AJC is “pro-islam” and another commenter asked if that meant you are anti-islam…and you pulled a political move and didn’t answer. So I actually want to ask: What is wrong with Islam?
I am Hindu and probably have more a reason to hate Islam than anyone here….but I don’t. It is not the religion it is the people. If you can’t understand that about any religion then people have problems. It’s just like the Inquisition. It wasn’t the religion. It was the people.
What do you say to that?

Some good discussion. Ok, 42 months is still close enough. The point is, it’s in the Bible, and everything about Obama is wrong and a lie. He is going to pass Hilary Clinton’s law that you can not work unless you have health insurance, the next step is you cannot buy or sell unless you have have microchip in your hand (hence the number of the beast…666. The technology is there now to fullfill this, and this is Obama’s plan…come on guys…it’s pretty scary. I need more facts, but Obama’s plans in the debates sound like Socialism and Communism…I normally don’t care about elections, and to tell you the truth I have never even voted before, but this one has my attention very closely as it does everyone else, and Obama is a very scary person and should not be allowed to run the country…
I don’t have the exact quote or reference, so if someone has it, then please share, but he will make peace with the nations for 3.5 years and break it (42 months).
My prayers are with you guys. Please read the Bible for yourselves whether you are believers or not so that at least you are informed, only God’s Spirit can convict you, us meager human’s can only pass on the message.
Good luck!

So, what’s wrong with spreading the wealth? I’m not wealthy, but some of my “wealth” has been spread by a Republican government into the hands of incompetent Wall Street banks, pork barrel defense contractors, Ahmed Chalabi, Pakistan, Haliburton, Blackwater, the colossal made-by-Bush bureaucracy called the Department of Homeland Security, and the $3 trillion Disaster in the Desert.
If a fraction of that wealth had been spread to families trying to get their kids through college, we’d have gotten more for our money. (Maybe gotten smarter too.)
Fact is, “socialist” systems (most of Europe, for example) give their citizens better health care and educations. Their citizens pay the costs, and consider them fair and reasonable. They don’t need giant war budgets.

Ok ..I get it.. pointing out Obamas flaws to an Obama supporter is like telling a teenager in love that their lover is a loser and not good for them. This will be my one final post, because after this I will be spending my time making my “I Told You So” signs to put in my yard. To my fellow brothers and sisters of African heritage that support Obama: Get ready for your love to leave you at the alter after he promises to give you the life you want. If you think for one instant hes going to do anything that he says he will, that is harder to believe than Obama is in fact the Antichrist. THE ONLY COLOR THAT THE DEM MAJORITY AND OBAMA RECOGNIZES IS THE COLOR GREEN.

Obama is not the change America needs. His association with radical if not terrorist associations prove alone that his judgement is not credible. His own VP running mate consistently speaks against him. His economic plan to tax the top 5% also includes small business owners who number well over 4 million people. His healthcare plan is little more than welfare which will turn our system into similiar one of Canada (what a joke).
The people voting for Obama think we owe them something. Get a job, get your own health insurance, get out of my banking account, raise your own kids, stop depending on the goverment to fix the mess you make of your own life.
Five kids here, no welfare, paid for my kids college and wasn’t stupid enough to get an adjustable mortgage rate! Pay for my own healthcare and don’t need a handout thank you very much! People wake up

So What?!?!?, You’re the one bringing up my education over and over again. What is my problem with Islam? It has more to do with its hatred for Jews and Christians more than anything else. Why do you bring up the Inquisition? Has absolutely nothing to do with Evangelicals. Evangelicals are too busy paying bills, working, raising kids and going to church.

It is sad that religious leaders get so caught up in the political game that they are willing to sacrifice their ethics for a win. I guess in their Bible the ends justify the means. Maybe they should actually sit down and read the book again sometime. Instead of just telling everyone what they want it to say.

Here I was, hoping that comrade Commie would show off a little of that state-sponsored education with a witty comeback about the AJC being a state-owned paper or something like that. Instead, he’s getting all offensive, I mean, defensive, when questioned by others about his comments regarding his Duke MBA. Come on Commie. There’s nothing to be ashamed of. You’re amongst friends here. Tell us all about that MBA. I’d like to know more. I would especially like to know how you found out about the AJC’s best kept secret. I think those who are claiming to be Christians need reacquaint themselves with their Bibles. Need we be reminded of the prophets warnings, for some of the less aquainted Christians, this is the book of revelation, the last sixteen books of the Old Testament, then start oon the New Testament. I recommend Matthew 5,6,and 7, the sermon on the mount. You see as for the people who are offended by Dr. James Dobson, many of you may not have actually needed his advice; however my family and I did, and our lives have improved so very much through the grace of God and his servant Dr. Dobson using the gifts which were given him by God. There is a difference between claiming to Christian and living every dayt to serve your Lord and Savior. There are many people who chastise you, as the Bible says they will, and there are many struggles but Christ gives us the strength and sometimes uses people like Dr. Dobson to help those who’s families are falling apart, and they don’t know what to do. Before you bash someone who is successful in helping so many others, read a book or two of his, try it for real, and then see where your opinions lie, because if you begin living faithfully day and night as a Christian your whole world changes. These comments were not unfounded and I am sure when the prophet Isaiah first started talking about what God was showing and saying to him people thought he was totally crazy also, and when we read that Christ is not just a God of love, peace and hope, he is also a God who is to be feared, obeyed, and revered, we can expect a few ugly things to come about (review fellow Christians what happened to Sodom and Gamorrah! We have no guarantee that something like that will or will not happen again, but are we willing to disreguard half of the Holy Bible and take that chance? I am not, also way back when our country was forming, in order to vote there were three qualifications 1) to be 21 years of age, 2) to be considered an upright and good person and 3) to be a freeman. Since then women have been added and slavery abolished (Thankfully)Our country was also established due to people desiring religeous freedom; at the time there were only Christians so the worry over religeous issues was restricted to Prodestants and Roman Catholicism. The separation of Church and state came about to prevent religeous leaders from enforcing particular religeous views in their political decisions. But no matter how hard one tries if they strongly and whole heartedly believe in something ;without denying their own beliefs, cannot make an unbiased decision. For this reason, and mainly this no matter how much we stress “separation of church and state,” I find it impossible to vote for Barak Obahma. He has already made it clear that he has fixed opinions on too many issues that directly go against the very religion he claims to believe in, and if that is the way he handles his faith, how will he handle the presidency when his faith determines where he will forever spend ETERNITY! I am not a “liberal Christian, I believe in the Bible as being God’s holy word without error, I do not support other doctrines in my faith other than the Bible and I believe there will comes a time when we need to as Christians face the facts, Christ didn’t decide to put a fence around Soddom and Gamorrah when it became heavily populated with prostitutes, homosexuals, and theives. He didn’t appease them either, so why are we as a Christian country continuing to back down and accept the immorality that 6,000 years ago Christ destroyed because of. I don’t recall anywhere in the New Testament where jesus said “forget what my Father said, just do whatever will maintain peace, love and euphoric harmony”. No, he said “I have come not to abolish the law, but to fullfill it”!What part of that do we need further explanation on. The Ten Commandments stil stand as the ultimate law today just as they did when they were given to Moses. As Christians, we all need to start not just spreading the word of Jesus Christ, but living Christianity.Under Barak Obahma, I personally feel our rights as Christians will be severly infringed upon. He does not have my vote.

Personally I don’t care that a person is muslim. I might vote for one if I agreed with their views, but right now our country is at war with Iraq, a muslim country, and Osama Bin Ladin is feeding radical ideas to muslim nations. I might not have as big of a problem with Obama, if he actually respected our country, but he oppenly rejects it. am amazed that Americans are so easily deceived by Obama. If you have any Christian background or can read you can see that Obama is scary. If he isn’t the Anti-Christ I will be surprised, but thankfully I will not be here when it is revealed. If you think the ending in the Bible isn’t correct you are in for a sad eternity. The good news is you will know the minute you die! Too late? I think it is! I hope that if Obama is elected that terrorism will stay off American soil, but I am afraid that is a pipe dream. We will be opening America up to the terrorist and it will be too late. If your family has never been affected by terrorism I hope you have prepared them for what is coming. Thou, Thou, Thou, Thou Shalt Not Kill. Nope, that can’t be right. Bombs kill. Just ask Bush or Cheney or Rumsfeld or any Republican. At first, I saw how much Obama was committed to Africa and the African people in his former church of many years, under his mentor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. That disturbed many Christians in the US, but, what was more disturbing to me was not Barack Obama’s choice of church or religion … what is truly in his heart? Is he truly helping or would in the future, esp. our African-Americans? Is he truly a Christian or a man of his chosen faith, even that be Muslim in his heart, whose actions and words match to create peace?
The leader, D. Gardner (President of the Nat’l Black Pro-Life Union) has blasted Barack Obama for “applauding the efforts” of those who are aborting unborn African-Americans. He said:
“Senator Obama doesn’t care that abortion has obliterated the rights of more than 15 million black children since 1973,” Gardner said in a statement. “He doesn’t care that abortion is the No. 1 killer of African-Americans surpassing deaths caused by accidents, heart disease, stroke, crimes, HIV-AIDS and all other deaths – combined!”
“He won’t make one of his powerful speeches decrying the injustice of abortion providers as they plant killing centers firmly in black communities – making it easier to kill black children. Instead, he actually applauds their efforts! These children are denied their most basic human right, which is the right to life, a right which our ancestors so proudly worked for, marched for and many of them died for.”
As far as I remember back to youth, I was told: Christ breathes life into the world, and the Devil takes it away.
I’m not saying do I think Obama is or will become who some predict as “The 3rd Antichrist”. But, I do think he is confusing much between his words and actions. And, when it comes to politics … it is almost as if we are already looking at face of the Devil himself.

Let me share this one piece of info. to you “I’m scared of Obama b/c he is the Anti-christ” people. I don’t mean to sound like a know it all, (but I do…j/k), but the Bible says this, “Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding COUNT the number of the beast: for it is the number of a MAN; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
Neither time nor space will allow me to fully educate you on the subject matter, but your Almighty Pope, who truly has the world wondering after him as the Bible says he will do and declares himself as God’s vicar on earth or “God’s substitute on earth” wears the title in latin “Vicarious Filii Dei.” If you count the number of his name using the roman numeral system, here’s what you get…
V - 5 I - 1 C - 100 A - 0 R - 0 I - 1 U - 5 (remember u and v are used interchangeably) S - 0
112F - 0 I - 1 L - 50 I - 1 I - 1
53D - 500 E - 0 I - 1
501
Now let’s add them up, 112+53+501 = 666 And tell me truthfully if you think this is just coincidental? And let us not forget that your beloved President Bush has met with him just this past April? I wonder what’s next on their agenda….

The only vile and irresponsible aspect of this is the failure of the mainstream news media to report that Obama ALL of Obama’s trusted and closest friends and collaborators are hard-line Marxists. His pastor for 20 years, Jeremiah Wright, preaches Black Liberation Theology, which sounds like Christianity but is really Marxism with a nasty racist twist- redistribute wealth to the poor, especially the Black poor. Bill Ayers is a radical education professor who makes no secret that he is a communist. He went to Venezuela in 2006 to study how Chavez used education for communist revolution. In a speech there, he said, “Education is the motor-force of revolution.” Ayers founded the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, and ran its operational arm. Obama became the first chairman of CAC, where his main job was to disperse millions of dollars in educational grants to Ayers and his communist colleagues. I am not complaining particularly about your hardball with Sarah Palin. She can take it. But if you do not do the same thing with Obama, Ayers, and Jeremiah Wright, you are not worthy to be called a journalist. You are a communist propagandist.
We will see how it all ends. Tom Delay says the Christian Right will be better served by an Obama presidency. After four years of pure socialism, voters will be thoroughly disillusioned.

I don’t know why some of you libs think it is so farfetched. Point One - By 2012, Obama has remade the U.S. Supreme Court into an activist, pro-gay institution. If Obama appoints justices they will be supportive of ultra liberal view points. So I don’t see farfetched hypocrisy as yet. Point two - “Tens of thousands of Christian (public school) teachers either quit or were fired, and there are hardly any evangelical teachers in public school any more… In addition, many private Christian schools decided to shut down after the Supreme Court ruled that anti-discrimination laws that include sexual orientation extended to private institutions such as schools.” Well let’s see - we can’t say Christmas break in school, we have to say Winter Holiday so as not to offend anyone. A private Christian school in Georgia was forced to keep an openly lesbian girl in the school. So that happens in what you say is the right dominated America, what does leftist America have in mind. In my opinion, private means the private organization gets to decide. Otherwise I should be able to be in any club or organization I want to be in without that organization having any say in the matter. Hey Augusta National, you have to let me in because you don’t have the right to choose you members. Hey muslim church you have to let me in to your church, into the inner sanctum, regardless of my religion because you don’t have the right to exclude. Hey Girls Scouts of America you have to let my teenage boy sleep in tents with your girls. No exclusions. Because that wouldn’t be fair and equal. That’s the Obama liberal way. See some exclusions actually make sense. But if they are built on conversative ideology then they merit not much in your lib world.
Another Point - Al Qaida gets more powerful. Yeah that’s a tough one to believe with Obama’s “let’s talk and we can convince them they are wrong and they have been wrong for 1000’s of year and Muslim terrorists and all muslim people should view American and Israel with love and reverence.” Can we sing Kum-by-ya. Let’s see when no U.S. troops are in the Arab region to stop terrorists from setting up camps to train, that will make the world safer. Yeah. Right.
I could do the rest but won’t for brevity sake. But will say alot of “intolerant” tolerant liberals “hate” the Christian conservative people for having a different opinion than them. So why is it so farfetched that a highly liberal leader will not infringe on Christian conservative ideology and people.
Bookman, do you support silencing the Christian right by any means necessary or do they still have any rights to be different in your “tolerant” liberal America?

So Joe, your definition of “…well thought out, articulate, and levelheaded …” include such statements as:
1) *…The conservatives have rampant misspellings, racist and bigoted remarks, and simply regurgitate things they have read in archaic books and anything Sean Hannity has excreted from his big mouth…”8
2) …Why are conservatives, as a group, so uneducated and such sheep? ..
Well thought out? Hardly. More like the rantings of a five year old intellect (be happy you get that much credit).
Articulate? Where? In the use of words such as “excreted” and “regurgitate”? The big mouth of the little endowed.
You, in your own way, are about as levelheaded as Dagny and John’s Love Child on one of Jay’s previous topics; in fact, he was the topic of one, being shown to be a bit off balance in the mental category. You remind me of this idiot, in the way you portray yourself so smug and self righteous, hiding what apparently are severe inferiority feelings, so you lash out at what your tiny mind cannot begin to comprehend.. You are to be pitied.
And your reference to these “so-called men of God”, I give you in rebuttal Jeremiah Wright. Case closed.

Conservatives will probably stop when you stop blindly following what the liberal media feeds you and you believe with out any proof or true knowledge thereof.
The answer is NEVER.
Also, for your information, alot of liberals are very nasty and vindictive and post blogs as such. Also you (liberals) are not all as smart as you think you are. Just because Obama speaks to your egos and says “and I think Americans are too smart for that”. You buy that hook, line, and sinker. Bookman,
Other countries have been taken over by evil individuals and have been repressed. And those individuals didn’t announce “I’m going to be evil, please let me into office.” They lied, stole, …, and more on their way to power and what they wanted. Mostly under false pretense. Wolves in sheeps clothing. I’m not saying Obama or McCain will do that. But for you to say it is not possible is irresponsible. You have no idea of what drives either of these two individuals, but you like to think and say/write you do. But in the end you are in the dark like the rest of us in the masses. This country goes into chaos when economy downturns and gas was short (in the metro just a short month ago). You don’t think a person in power can use that chaos to take over and inflict their agenda. Don’t doubt it. I hope it never happens.

McCain and Palin have both tried to rid government of corruption and size.
Obama wants to have the money to promote size and corruption in a different way. He puts icing on a cow patty, as I heard somewhere about the bailout issue, and it is all just bigger gov’t. and more spending. AND, more money for the lawmakers who don’t have to worry about retirement anyway.
You decide, what new government program do you want your tax dollars to go towards.
obama and acorn definition of redistribution——We register people who are dead, who are fictitional characters from our childhood, who are illeagles, and cast a vote for them as what we believe they would wish this republic was actually like. Read the Gospel of Matthew Chapter 5:1-16, this is what the so called religious right is supposed to represent, but they don’t.
The Christian right are the Pharisees and Sadducees of today. The change movement will usher in a new morality in governance and laws.
These people need to take some time and review the parables that Jesus taught, be convicted, repent, and be redeemed.

I am a Christian and those who believe in Jesus would not hope for harm to anyone. They model, through words and actions, love for everyone. “Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called the sons of God.” Matthew 5:9
A President Obama is looking to make peace instead of continuing a ruinous war. Because he cares and is pragmatic he will not allow us to be endangered by our enemies if they attack us. We will fight as one…shared sacrifice because the cause will be defense and not pretense. We will not bully other nations. We can be meek because there is strength in it for us. “Blessed are the meek for they will inherit the earth.” Matthew 5:5
And for all of those who are Christians but look down upon other religions: John 10:16 “I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.”

I heard about this letter but havent seen any excerpts.
I grew up in the right wing evangelical background that Dobson caters to. I’ve listened to his shows.
What I find odd is that evangelica Christians are strangely fixated on abortion and gay rights- the whole world could crumble down (actually, it is), and thats all that they care about.
James Dobson is one frightening man. I like how he assumes that because him and his sheep are anti-Obama that God is as well.
Guess what Mr. Dobson, news for you- you dont get to carry God in your pocket as if he agrees with everything you say, even though your moronic followers would think otherwise.
One of these days, the FBI is probably going to bring down a child porn ring or something and we’ll see Mr. Dobson at the top of the list of subscribers.

I love the use of fear to win votes. It shows me they really do not have any real ammunition.
It makes sense to sit down, even with those we disagree with. There is an old saying Keep your freinds close but your enemies closer.
I am hoping Obama wins. I am a homeschooler and am not afraid of having my rights taken away. Last time I checked it was a STATE issue not a federal one.

I think Dobson is absolutely right in his view that an Obama presidency will turn the United States into the Sodom and Gomorrah of modern times. To put the liberals in charge of virtually every aspect of our government will surely end America as we know it. Many of our fathers and grandfathers died to prevent what we our going to give Obama for free. It seems as if the real prophet here was Nikita Khrushchev. Indeed, this country is well on its way to being taken without a shot by Marxists.

First, I have to say that Mr. Bookman only uses part of the quote from James Dobson and not the whole. I have read his letter and it is not as wacky as Mr. Bookman puts it out to be. In each of the separated, nicely crafted paraphrases by Mr. Bookman, it leaves out all or any of the backup data that Mr. Dobson uses for his comments. I’m not saying Mr. Dobson is right or wrong, but if you are going to share information about a person and their comments, how about sharing all of the information. You start to wonder if the media is really telling us the truth or wanting us to believe what they say is truth. One remaining comment, today a recording from 2001 was discovered of Barack Obama discussing in a radio interview about the socializing the US through legislative and administratively. I have not seen any comments from Mr. Bookman on this. Oh yeah, of course they recommened to us to vote for Barack Obama. It is hard to question any one that you want to vote for and support.

Americans, many of your people are sick. Ill. You are the most powerful nation on Earth and your rightwing Christians do not care one iota for rational truth. They are, in effect, fundamentalists no different from the Taliban, who also care not one bit about facts or freedoms, just their dogmatic beliefs. It is dangerous and it affects everyone else on the planet. Your nation exists because you tried to escape this mindlessness and now you spew it endlessly, regardless of consequences, all across the airwaves, cyberspace, print and so on. There WAS an enlightenment in the 16th-18th century, and then two centuries of radical progress that brought you to where you are today. And now you revert the mindlessness of the Middle Ages. Go join the Taliban! You have more in common with them than with thinking human beings. God - and I don’t care whose version it is - help us all!

I guess under John McCain we will run happily along in the fields, white sheets blowing in the wind, the sun shining down upon our smiling faces from here to eternity. No more crisis, no hardship, no war - it’ll be peace on earth…..Wow why didn’t we find out about this before now? How come McCain hasn’t gone on this platform? Too bad Dobson wasn’t on the campaign to help McCain out. Oh, wait a minute, that’s right - Dobson didn’t want McCain to be the Republican’s choice for President. Oh, yes, that’s right, he acutally said and I quote “My decision comes in the wake of my statement on Super Tuesday that I could not vote for Sen. My site at www.coachlikeapro.com is helping to raise the awareness that an Obama presidency will hurt conservatives and our view of America. We must work as hard as the Obama folks to get out the vote..! Let’s get the vote out for McCain.

Perhapse this homeschooling christian mother should have added the former Marine part to it also or used my old title of SSgt…I also have four family members currently serving in the U.S.military forces. One a father to my two nieces has just recently returned from a tour in Iraq. I had the joy of the first time around in 1990. Then other less desireable times after that. I know all too well what it is like to have to leave your family and not be sure if you are coming back. That takes faith beyond limits. But being able to come home to my family means more than it used to. Forty five may be young by some standards, but after seeing things I can’t ever describe to my family, makes you age rapidly. But think about it does any of us ever remember being this worked up about who was running for the presidency before? I don’t even when it would have determined who my boss was so to speak. To me that must be saying something there are so many issues surrounding this election this year I believe it will be a turning point in history. Which direction it turns well, that is up to all of us I pray we make the right choice. Wether I support Dr James Dobson or not what I think all of us is hoping and praying for is that he is dead wrong, otherwise,I am looking at the end of the life my family and I have chosen. When Senator Obahma went over to “visit our troops”; You know the men and women serving, dying, defending human freedom in Iraq , he didn’t once acknowledge a single person. Not one did he look in the eye. The baskettball thing…camera candy…he didn’t even shake the hand of one soldier who came to see him…not one! Yet he thinks he’s good enough to become their Commander in Chief! Also he was there less than one hour!!! j As I said before, from someone who can say been there, done that, got the T-shirt…Do any of you ever remember having so many conflicting feelings about an election before? How about this how many Presidents can you name off the top of your head, and remember what religion they believed in? Most of us don’t know because we never had to worry about it before they all had what was considered to be acceptable beliefs. The mere fact of these issues concerning us as Americans should send off warning signs that there is definately something wrong about this years election!!
I pray for all of us to think wisely before we vote.

You Guys need to get a life you said the same thing about Clinton. You guys have gotten what you wanted for the last eight years and this country is in more danger and economic crisis then it ever was in the past. Please Get a life and actually read and educate yourself. If you would take the abortion issue out of your radical minds for one second and by the way that fell under nixon’s term in office not a democrat (just thought i would let you know that) Then you might see that Democrats and yes that includes your next president want the best for america just like republicans we just have a a different way of getting it done. And it’s not solicalism or anything like that. So please if your reading this and you believe in this trash your a fool plan and simple.

How about this for an idea. Based on Obahma’s past voting record in the Senate, which way do we see him leaning? Oh that’s right that’s what Dr. Dobson did! Those of you slamming him, have you ever listened to “Focus on The Family”?As was said before, “People educate yourselves!” There are some serious issues at hand and as Christians we can not disreguard the prophesies dictated in the Bible. So maybe Obahma is not the anti-Christ. If there wasn’t even the slightest possibility, would so many people be taking notice, or coming up with so many comments. If there were better moralistically sound candidates, we probibly wouldn’t have all these issues. It has been mentioned that he is against homeschooling, but if public schools were all that great, we wouldn’t need places like Sylvan, or remedial classes nearly as much. Abortion, I am a conservative to the bone on that one. No way, can any person justify that, when there are so many people who want to adopt, and would willingly adopt in a heartbeat. To me the only people who support abortion are those who support irresponsibility, as it is just a way for a woman to be unnacountable for their actions. The other issue of our economy is history repeating itself, and I believe we are headed for a recession no matter what we try to do, but fear that Obahma will just make a bigger mess of these things. He talks a good game, but this has been predicted that those who cause the mast damage usually do (great deciever) means he will be very good at it and those who vote for Obahma have I believe fallen for it.

To the home schooling momma, above….you may be doing a very good job at teaching your kids language, history and math, but you are doing them a great injustice by ‘sheltering’ them from life and the socializing with their peers in a regular school environment. When religion keeps their noses out of the political processes in this country, and from the Roman Catholic Church right down to the Dobson fanatics, then and only then, does the Constitution work. Christ said render unto Caesar, the things which are Caesar’s and unto God, the things which are God’s. He didn’t say mix it all up and we’ll sort it out later!!!!

Sad, sad, sad. I have never seen such vicious attacks on any candidate. This is worse than the hatred for Bill Clinton. Meanwhile John McCain will cut the corporate tax rate from 35% to 25%. Exxon was sitting with $228 billion in earned surplus will get a $3 billion tax cut. McCain and his wealthy friends will also get a cut. The poor and unemployed will not be able to afford healthcare. Sarah Palin may have an IRS problem because of the money paid to her by the state of Alaska to stay at her own home and to fly her children to various events. By the way, McCain says he will not get baptized until after the election. I guess that gives him a license to lie until them.
Obama as a muslim??? Get real. Obama as the anti-christ???? Please get real. This is absolute paranoia. Even those who continue to bring up Wright omit or don’t know he was quoting a former U. S. ambassador. Those who want to know the truth can find very easily. Trying to make a radical out of a guy who spent his formative years in Kansas with his white grandparents is ridiculous. He actually has very little in common with the average U.S. black. That is why they were so suspicious of him.

Wow. Is anyone else disturbed about the union between the republican party and Christianity? As someone who was brainwashed by this nonsense I am just awakening to the damage it has caused. The line between faith and politics has become dangerously blurred to the point where we believe that voting republican is part of our faith. The truth is that neither party supports a consistent ethic of life whether it be abortion, support of healthcare, poverty, the death penalty, torture, or the environment. It has become very freeing for me to know that as a Christian I don’t have to vote for who the Christian right tells me I have to vote for. And by the way, taxes, gun rights, and trickle down economics are not essential tenents of faith as you might think. Both parties are wrong yet God is soverign. I will vote for Obama because I agree with his views on healthcare, education, environmental polices, and ending the war. These beliefs are influenced by my Christian faith. Do I like Obama’s stance on abortion, absolutely not. I’m voting this year on more than one issue and there is nothing unchristian about this.

Jim dear, when the Bible said render unto Cesar the things that are Cesars, they were talking about money and property, not my children, or my faith. One question, do you spend your days just floating along or do you LIVE what you believe? There is absolutely NO way I could live a double life. Even on the battlefield I prayed, and when given the chance consulted the scriptures. I seriously worry about someone that thinks there is a complete separation between politics and religion because what we believe what we put our faith in is what guides us. Tell yourself there is no connection all you want and you can also add “I’m going to be a filthy rich millionaire someday, I’m going to be a filthy rich millionaire someday!” while you’re at it

We can only hope all the hate and filth spewing from these evangelical christians is gone by 2012. I guess Rush was right. I don’t understand how gay marriage is even an issue. First, the only argument against it is a religious one, and we are supposed to have this little thing called “seperation of church and state”. Second, ask yourself this, and be honest with yourself: has the fact that there are gay people affected your life in any way? WHen you are eating your oatmeal in the morning, does the fact that 2 men or 2 women might love eachother cause your table to catch fire? Can you not mow your lawn because of all the sodomy going on in your yard at all times?
the only people who claim to be afraid of homosexuality are closet homosexuals themselves
I sincerely believe that. And with all the child rape, sodomy and solicitation of gay sex going on by evangelicals, Catholics and conservative Republicans, you have no solid ground to stand on to throw out your flagrant, stupid, small-minded insults.
Listen, people: Barak Obama is not a Muslim. Barack Obama is not a terrorist. Barack Obama does not pal around with terrorists. Barack Obama is not going to rape all the white women, or make us all pray to the Koran (though what difference does it make, the Koran makes just as little sense and is based on just as little hard evidence as the bible, well maybe not quite there is only 1 version of the Koran) and wear turbans. If you truly believe these things, you should kill yourself if you are a man, or puree your insides with a hanger so that you do not unleash your stupidity on the rest of the world.

If Barak Obahma is as good as he tries to portray, then why is it he made a trip all the way ove to Iraq just to blow off the men and women that are over there doing what the government he wants to represent and lead have told them to do??? If he really cares about this country why couldn’t he even shake the hand of ONE soldier, or even meet the eyes of ONE peson??? These men and women are willing to lay down their lives for their fellow man, yet the one who wants to become their Commander in Chief can’t even acknowledge them unless it’s for the benefit of the news cameras. To me he could have shouted out loud “I am a cheap liar” and made about the same impact. But he knows that there will be people who sit and watch the telecasts and debates and believe everything they hear. I’m still waiting for a good candidate to step up to the plate, because McCain doesn’t impress me all that much either. It is sad when it is the candidates with the most money and theives in their pockets are the ones that get on the ballot!

As for the homeschooling momma in the Service…I’m really sorry that you have become another of George Bush’s pundits in his perceived mess which he has created in the Middle East region. I would just like to know who we are at war with. We are not at war with Iraq, nor are we at war with Afghanistan….so just where is any victory that McCain keeps ranting about? I agree with Focus on the Family. Actually, your article is the first I’ve heard of it. Thankyou for informing me as to the extent of the number of those who think as I do. However, one of the things that Focus on the Family missed, according to your article, is the number of small bands of patriots who will be dissenting and fighting back the tide of evil that Barrack Obama shall surely bring upon us. Not just him of course, but him and a super majority of Communist, draft-dodging, little b*** democrats, who will all no doubt beg to be bent over and raped by all the world’s terrorist groups in a single solitary thrust.

While I definitely am not a loony liberal or crazy conservative, I get disgusted with how the two sides are die hard to their party. The extremes on both sides have gotten our country to the point it is now. People have forsaken truth for ideology. Whether you like him or hate him, Bill O’Reilly had an excellent analogy of what it means to be an ideologue (or idiot logue if you ask me). If you think everything Bill or Hillary Clinton does goes through Satan himself, you are an ideologue. If you think President Bush has done nothing good at all while being president, you are an ideologue. Both had their share of blunders and both did do some things right.
As far as Dobson, goes, he definitely falls into an ideologue category. I truly believe he thinks he is doing the good work, he just needs to have an epiphany where he can see things through the eyes of Christ at some point.

**It’s scary to read both views on this. To think either party has you in mind. They both are more wealthy then any of us will ever be. How can any of us stand to listen to empty promises from anyone just to get your vote. They will do what they really want to do with your tax money when they get in ofice. Please look at the both men BEFORE they were nominated, see what kind of men they were- their character, what they ACTUALLY did that you agree with- not by anything they’re telling you now. I believe in God like most Americans and I will make a personal choice when I vote- NOT one given to me by my church, the press, Hollywood or my favorite band. To even consider that Dobson is a prophet is the ultimate slap in the face to every prophet in the Bible. Dobson is NO prophet. He IS a purveyor of hate and discord. Isaiah would chew him up and spit him out. Any candidate running for public office can promise you anything. However, it is Congress which makes the laws…NOT the President. Or have you all forgotten that? And by the looks of it, Democrats are going to be the ruling majority. Thank you, God.

The ‘Letter from 2012 in Obama’s America’ is based upon statements and plans of current Democrat lawmakers and Supreme Court opinions.
When I read the ‘Letter from 2012 in Obama’s America’, I had ALREADY known that these things were what I was fighting against in opposing Obama. I homeschool - it is always under attack. I support marriage only between a man and a woman - it is constantly under attack. I own a gun self defense - it is constantly under attack. I listen to AM talk radio - it is constantly under attack. And Obama is just the man to bring the furthest left wing ideologies to fruition. He has a voting record. People like me will be marginalized and persecuted. People like you will support it. It is as ‘Palpatine’ has just ascended the throne.

Only those who are living a life of love and purity are going to live with Jesus in eternity. Whether you vote Democrat or Republican is NOT what saves you because one political party is no holier than the other. There is corruption everywhere all over the world, and it is time the entire world recognizes that you don’t trust in a world given system to save your soul, but you trust in God’s Holy Word until He returns.
Everything that is happening around the world was preordained to take place because the Lord is coming back for His church. So if you are on the Lord’s side, take peace in knowing that He’s got you in His hands. Keep praying to Jesus. He’ll take care of you.

All these events, if they take place is a reminder for the Church of God to arise from complacency, and prayerlessness. The state of the nation is determined by the state of the Church. If it happens, it is because the Church has allowed it to happen. This is the time for the Church to get real with Jesus. Revival is coming to America, perhaps these are what need to precede the greatest outpouring of the Spirit of God in our nation.

I woke up today hoping to find someone out there who understood that with Obama’s agenda in place, he will, whether knowingly or unknowingly, lead America to become as Sodom & Gomorrah. In light of this does America really think she will bypass any measure(s) of judgment? If she does she is a fool. It’s that simple. God will not be mocked.
In my google search I literally put in the words: Obama leads America to be as Sodom & Gomorrah. I found this site.
I see no one has posted here since November of 2008.
What’s up with this? Has this site been censored?

Karen Marie, No, this site had not been censored.(idiocy caused by religious paranoia)
You and your Christian Right friends need to shut up. You have no room to complain about anyone Obama picks for any office. Most of the appointments in the last administration were “your people.” You had your time with George Bush and look what it brought us, war, death of our children, hatred from the world, hatred of each other, world recession well on the road to depression, loss of Constitutional rights and embarrassment from ‘his’ picks in many governmental positions and especially the Justice Department. You didn’t complain then. Bush has already driven us to the brink. If America goes in the crapper, all you people will surely blame it all on Obama. How convenient.
You call yourselves Christians, conservatives, defenders of America, its values and the Constitution. Still, not a word of protest when George Bush says, “Stop throwing the Constitution in my face. It’s just a g******* piece of paper.” That’s about as unpatriotic a statement ever made by any American and for sure not made by any prior president and hopefully not from the lips of any president ever again. The arrogance of the last administration was palpable.
You all had 8 years of a President bowing to practically every whim of the conservative, Christian Right. It has caused nothing but friction in our schools, our medical and scientific communities and growing hatred between differing factions of our society. Because of this alone we are becoming a land of intolerance with the threat of becoming like those we supposedly despise, the Muslim extremists. The Christian Right has drawn a line in the sand. If a person or “Christian” group steps over that line, they are labeled as “liberals” and their Christianity is questioned. Groups like the American Family Association and powerful people like Dobson and “his” followers and all the other finger pointing groups need to get away from preaching the evils of our society and get back to preaching the gospel to those who will listen, saving souls and forgiving those who don’t see the world in the same way. That’s the Christ and Christianity “I” grew up with.
Doesn’t all this drive us apart? Doesn’t this just make us hate our neighbor because he or she is different and/or doesn’t agree with “our” version of family values or Christianity? What good has come from this.
This is not the America I grew up in. Can you honestly say this is your desire, to have an America where its people are in a state of constant conflict?

I guess I was wrong about this page being censored. The main word in Bush’s unpatriotic statement gddm was censored. He didn’t say, “Stop throwing the Constitution in my face. It’s just a [gosh darned] piece of paper.” Gosh darn it!
To the censors of this page:
No wonder the Christians didn’t get upset about what George said. If you censor the “impact” word then there is “no impact” on the reader.
If the President said it, you should print it to convey the full truth and impact of the statement.
I’m pretty disappinted about this.
