Judith Miller signs on at Fox News

I see where Judith Miller, the author of widely discredited pre-war reporting on WMD in the New York Times, has taken a job with Fox News.

It’s an association that diminishes both parties.

The move only further crytsalizes the detrimental rightwing turn. It’s as if the party, as a result of its blinding ego, is unkowingly setting itself up for a loss in 2012 as well.

The party of disinformation has been exposed as a loser - bolstering a failed concept only further accentuates its failure.

Karl Rove, Mike Huckabee, Glenn Beck and now Judith Miller.

When added onto their existing line up, it is patently ridiculous for them to assert any neutrality whatsoever.

They are THE OBVIOUS mouth piece for the Bush administration and the failed neo-con ideology…

I remember a few years ago when they sued Al Franken (Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right) for using their pet term! Three days later they slunk back into the shadows on that one.

Other than for the comedic factor, I give them little attention…

It’s called a fair and balanced approach to reporting the news. Something ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN and the AJC lost a long time ago. Unless of course.., you too think a panel of ex-Clinton aides represents Americans non-partisan view of politics.

Miller did not write anything about WMD that Clinton(s), Kennedy, Pelosi, Reid, Kerry, Gore, ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN and 50 others had not already said or published.

It was just that President Bush pointed to her and the NYT report as backup. But for the Dems it was to late to provide supporting data. Dims had already committed to the “Bush lied” stragedy.

And toadies like Bookman had faithfully accepted their marching orders.

Remember shock and awe? Of course you do. In the days immediately following, guess how many anti-war voices were on the unfair and unbalanced Fox News network.

Two.

97.5% of their “contributors” were in favor of King George’s deceitful, chosen and unnecessary invasion/occupation.

I was being sarcastic. Wolfson was Hillary’s communications director and is now one of those talking heads like Rove. Geraldine Ferraro gets pulled in a lot. Floyd’s a lower-level player but has long service going back to the Clinton Administration. Jerry Brown’s been a guest once or twice (former governor of Calif, went out with Linda Ronstadt (my kind of guy) was known as “Governor Moonbeam” and now is Calif Attorney General.

Point was, they (not all shows, I’m separating the news from the entertainment, and even within the entertainment there are gradations) bring on Democrats for the Democratic viewpoint. Or to criticize the Republican viewpoint, often with a Republican present.

I just can’t imagine an Olberman having on a Condoleeza Rice as a regular contributor on foreign policy. You get the drift.

B. They watch it all the time but are not honest.

C. They are gullible and swallow the words of any Dem-wit who is critical of the idea of being conserative. Then, since they cannot digest the crap they just swallowed, they re-gurgitate their version on sites like this?

In my defense of the media in general as the “fourth estate” – every bit as important as our three branches of government in ensuring checks and balances, I always urge those who point fingers at the “liberal media” to get their news and information from as many sources as possible.

Practicing what I preach, I tune in to Fox News along with other TV sources; I take the daily paper and read both conservative and liberal columnists. I read a lot of books. I purposefully expose myself to conservative and liberal viewpoints.

I have to say, though, that the tactics I observe from media like Fox News and talk radio on the right are frightening. Name-calling. Broad characterizations. High repetition of over-simplified messages. Appeals to fears, prejudices and religious ferver. Anger and confrontation. Undermining institutions (government, education, the press). Good looking conservatives (Hannity) and homely liberals (Holmes).

And if it’s not brainwashing, then why are they using brainwashing tactics? You cannot separate the ends from the means.

Oh, I know. I know. It’s the liberal media that does all those things! Well, how do you know unless you tune in, read, etc., and analyze and compare not just the viewpoints expressed but how they are presented. The difference is there.

You are 100% correct, my friend.

Another liberal shibboleth bites the dust:

Dr. Hackbart also pointed out that periods of solar inactivity known as “solar minimums” magnify cold spells on his continent. So, given that August was the first month since 1913 in which no sunspot activity was recorded — none — and during which solar winds were at a 50-year low, he was not surprised that Brazilians were suffering (for them) a brutal cold snap. “This is no coincidence,” he said as he scoffed at the notion that manmade carbon emissions had more impact than the sun and oceans on global climate.

Don Easterbrook, a geologist at Western Washington University, says, “It’s practically a slam dunk that we are in for about 30 years of global cooling,” as the sun enters a particularly inactive phase. His examination of warming and cooling trends over the past four centuries shows an “almost exact correlation” between climate fluctuations and solar energy received on Earth, while showing almost “no correlation at all with CO2.”

An analytical chemist who works in spectroscopy and atmospheric sensing, Michael J. Myers of Hilton Head, S. C., declared, “Man-made global warming is junk science,” explaining that worldwide manmade CO2 emission each year “equals about 0.0168% of the atmosphere’s CO2 concentration … This results in a 0.00064% increase in the absorption of the sun’s radiation. This is an insignificantly small number.”

You think that will stop the environmental terrorists from taxing us into oblivion?

Hey Copyleft,

Get a clue. Even CNN’s Lou Dobb’s admits the news media is left along with most major newspapers. Obviously, you can’t see the forest for the trees. Don’t worry, once the left get full control, the Fairness Doctrine will be enacted and the liberals might be able to compete again. Of course our tax dollars will have to support them because they cannot compete in the real market.

If the so-called “liberal media” couldn’t compete, how could we have a liberal media?

By Darren

You still do not get it and probably never will. FOX News ratings crush anyone else’s out there for cable news. That’s competing.

I admit FOX leans right but most of the others lean left. FOX created a place for conservative listeners that are tired of all the liberal agendas on the other broadcast. FOX always has both sides represented on the issues. Even Howard Wolfson, Hillary Clinton’s Campaign Manager stated that Hillary got more fair treatment on FOX than anywhere else.

MSNBC ratings are in the cellar. They are not competing. CNN’s are on the rise but were in the tank previously. Thank GOD, CNN is starting to get a clue and change their programming to be more balanced. I tend to watch CNN more and more now.

The rest of the Liberal Media are in the tank for Obama. Again CNN’s Lou Dobbs stated this along with many others. Name one conservative host on ABC, NBC, or CBS news programs. I bet you can’t. I can name 3 on FOX (Alan Combs, Greta Van Susteren, Morton Kondracke) off the top of my head.

You should read the book BIAS by Bernie Goldberg a Democrat that worked in the Liberal Media for years. He list several examples of liberal bias in the main stream media.

Newspaper subscriptions are down everywhere and I do realize the Internet plays a big role. I’m sure the Huffington Post, Move On, and the Daily KOS will replace newspapers in time. That’s where the hate mongers on the left like to spew their poison.

Yes, conservatives dominate talk radio but that’s because DEMs are not able to capture their potential audiences’ attention. Air America bombed even with all of George Soros’ money.

By Copyleft

October 22, 2008 10:49 AM | Link to this

You’re missing the contradiction, Darren… you say that the “liberal media can’t compete,” but you also say we have an incredibly liberal media.

How does that work? If they couldn’t compete, they wouldn’t exist!

By Darren

October 22, 2008 11:00 AM | Link to this

Ratings Man. There not getting the ratings. Coming in last and near last is not competing. Kind of like being in the NCAA but never getting to a bowl game. Maybe we define competing differently. My belief is if you are competive then you have a chance of finishing first. These guys don’t have a prayer unless they make competive programming changes like CNN is doing. The liberal media ratings are going down consistantly and FOX is still going up. Before long FOX will exceed major networks and they’re a cable news network. If the Fairness Doctrine is enacted, they may have a chance. Liberal Government will try to get involved. Just wait and see. By the way, I’m no Bush fan either. I try to be an independent thinker.
