Dems try to hang FairTax around Saxby’s neck

I was wondering whether this would happen. Now it has. The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has weighed into the Chambliss-Martin race with a lot of money and a new attack ad, focusing on Saxby’s support for the FairTax.

Politically, I think it’s a great idea. Chambliss has long allowed himself to be listed as a sponsor of the heroically bad FairTax idea in hopes of keeping the peace with FairTax cult members among Georgia conservatives. But as far as I know, he’s never done a thing to actually try to enact the plan.

But if you take the idea outside the core of FairTax fanatics, I bet it polls terribly. Theoretically, FairTax supporters ought to be thrilled with this, because it gets the idea some badly needed publicity.

But if it ends up contributing to Chambliss’ defeat, that publicity won’t be favorable.

OH NO!!! FairTax(tm) Troll Alert!!! Incoming!!!!

By Mike

Remember the “kill him” scandal that the Times and the rest of the media used to finish McCain?

It never happened:

“SCRANTON – The agent in charge of the Secret Service field office in Scranton said allegations that someone yelled “kill him” when presidential hopeful Barack Obama’s name was mentioned during Tuesday’s Sarah Palin rally are unfounded. The Scranton Times-Tribune first reported the alleged incident on its Web site Tuesday and then again in its print edition Wednesday. The first story, written by reporter David Singleton, appeared with allegations that while congressional candidate Chris Hackett was addressing the crowd and mentioned Obama’s name a man in the audience shouted “kill him.”

News organizations including ABC, The Associated Press, The Washington Monthly and MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann reported the claim, with most attributing the allegations to the Times-Tribune story.

Agent Bill Slavoski said he was in the audience, along with an undisclosed number of additional secret service agents and other law enforcement officers and not one heard the comment.

“I was baffled,” he said after reading the report in Wednesday’s Times-Tribune.”

Their is no such thing as a fair tax in today’s style of governance.

Our government has become an entity completely independent of We The People, and now looks upon us as merely a source of their income and votes to keep them in elected office.

After that, they couldn’t care freaking less.

And any wanker that spends more than five seconds scheming on how they go about extorting our money from us, is just that, a wanker.

So wank away, democrats.

In an early example of his slipperiness, Senator Obama stood with his fellow Democrats in opposing the bill. Then he went on record opposing his own vote by writing the Secretary of the Treasury that subprime mortgages are dangerous. As has been said of other evasive politicians, Obama is a chameleon on plaid. Apparently a chameleon on plaid can escape the media’s accountability even as he boldly opposes stricter regulations on subprime loans while writing the Treasury to oppose such loans. Yet how is it that the media have given the entire Democratic Party a pass on their advocacy of subprime loans?-AmSpec

Senate Intelligence Official: Obama Would Endanger Us

Oct 16, 2008

If Barack Obama wins the presidency, he will endanger the country by making us more vulnerable to terrorist attacks, the vice chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence tells Newsmax.

Obama “would so weaken our security forces that I personally believe that we would be in much greater danger of terrorist attacks in the United States and abroad,” says Sen. Well, I am your friend on the right and I look forward to giving Obama the benefit of the doubt,. I think he has run a clean campaign (in large part because the media did the dirty work for him) and that he is an impressive individual.

And by the way, I just noticed that the IBD/TIPP poll, the most accurate in 2004, has McCain down by just 3 points. If the contest is perceived by the voters as a contest between a wealth redistributor and a wealth creator, then it could be a long night come Nov. 4. This is still a center-right country, gang. Note this Gallup poll from June:

When given a choice about how government should address the numerous economic difficulties facing today’s consumer, Americans overwhelmingly—by 84% to 13%—prefer that the government focus on improving overall economic conditions and the jobs situation in the United States as opposed to taking steps to distribute wealth more evenly among Americans.-USNews

E:

Regardless of what simplistic talking points one uses, the statement that “poor people are poor because they are lazy” is false. The more accurate statement is: most “poor” people are poor because they act / make decisions that prevent the accumulation of income / wealth.

Money, like most other inanimate items in the universe, acts / responds in expected ways. If you act / behave in specific ways, it tends to accumulate. Likewise, if you act / behave in other ways, it never does.

The vast majority of our “poor” have televisions, cable, playstations, cellphones, etc. Regardless of what our culture tells us, these are all luxury items and should be purchased with disposable income; not income that one needs for day-to-day expenses or wealth accumulation.

It is neither your nor my responsiblity to finance a continuation of poor lifestyle choices such as these. In the end, redistribution schemes, like Senator Obama’s that perpetuate such behavior, does no service to either the one who receives the unearned benefit or the one from whom it was taken to provide.

As for you contention that you get angry about the taxes that you pay so that “the rich don’t have to”. You only need look at the Treasury & IRS data to note that those in the higher income levels (approx. top 5%) already pay the lions share of income taxes in this country. I believe that the most recent numbers are they make about 30% of this nations income and pay just under 50% of the income taxes on it. The bottom 50% of earners pay less than 5% of the income taxes with the majority of them paying none at all.

If you are fed up with a group of people “not paying their share” or “carrying their burden of the load”, you need not look to the rich as those shirking their responsiblity. Regardless of what Senator Obama tells you.

Have a good one.

Having been away all day and just now finished reading the latest 3 threads by Jay, I have come to the decision that this may be the most pathetic collection of dysfunctional clowns and idiots from both party supporters that I have ever seen.

The leftists call conservatives everything from KKK to unrepeatable, and then counter serve from the right. Links from God knows where show up, full of distortions and lies. Insults fly. Is there anyone here with even a partially functioning brain besides me?

Election day is soon, and the results will be the results. You idiots, toads and trolls have absolutely no influence whatsoever on this national outcome, so go ahead and blow your nose and watch what passes for your brain matter to spatter on the floor.

The only thing the left needs to worry about quite frankly, is if the white majority shows up and votes along color lines. There’s no poll out there that can predict that uncertainty, and if this polarization continues as it has, then we could be headed for a showdown.

The right has to worry that they won’t show up., because if they do not, McCain has virtually no chance. Even election day polls 2004 showed Kerry up 50-44%, and we all know how that turned out, but I wouldn’t bet the bank on that happening again.

Everyone is sick of G W Bush and Congress. The real pity here is that we cannot completely turn over the entire Congress in one fell swoop and reelect each and every one of them all at once. I’m going to take a weekend off and hope for sanity to appear when I return, but frankly I do not expect that either.

You and your fellow income tax lovers are being woefully ignorant once again. At least you are merely ignorant. Jim Martin is LYING about the FairTax (among other things).

So you want to put a bald-faced liar in the Senate representing Georgians?

If he’s not LYING he is incredibly DUMB.

But we all know he isn’t dumb. Those that vote for the LIAR JIM MARTIN are, however.

If Joe the plumber endorses the fairtax on huckabee this weekend, saxby will survive and the fairtax will get a much-needed boost of PR.

I just love the ads by the Dems for Senate that neglect to include that the Fair Tax that they so adamantly attach to Saxby Chambliss does away in most senses of the word the Personal Income Tax in its original draft. There are other nations that have Value Added Tax (VAT) on their goods and services sold and have refunds for many categories of payers, just like an Income Tax Refund. It can work, if not burdened with amendments for liberal social programs. So, Democrats for Senate, please include the whole of the programs you so demonize.
