Another terrible, horrible, no good very bad day
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The Dow fell more than 650 points today. It is now down below 8600.
And the McCain camp wants to talk about William Ayers.

Your headline reminds me of an old South Georgia greeting:
Person 1: How you doin’? Person 2: Not too awful terrible bad.

I repeat
2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will HEAL their land.

It is brutal to say the least..could be the time to make some buys however on stocks that are reaching historical lows.
The lower the market is going the more people will demand addressing the issue of both Obama and McCain. If McCain is going to save his campaign, he needs to talk nothing but economics up until folks walk into the booth and pull the lever

Well, if you continue to have faith in the American people and economy, it’s not a bad time for a person like me to diversify and grab a hold of some cheap stock. Then again, who knows.

So Bookman,
the McCain camp wants to talk about William Ayres
Yes, while the Obama camp wants to say that being a POW is not a bad experience.
Meanwhile Congress led by Democrats is a mishmash of muddled moments. They even attach “pork” to a crisis bill.
I know. It is all the fault of Palin,McCain, Bush, Cheney and Rove, of course. Democrats are as pure as the driven snow.
What’s tomorrow’s “biggie”? Sarah Palin’s husband killed an endangered whale and ate it for lunch???? Sarah Palin secretly sold Alaska to Russia with a video to prove it???? You just never know!!!

If it was up to William Ayers, the stock market would be blown up and the capitalist pigs on Wall Street would have their wealth confiscated and redistributed, so maybe it IS relevant.

I remember when the mainstream media accused then-candidate Bush of trying to talk the economy into a recession. For over a year, the media has been trying to do the same thing - all in order to get the most inexperienced major-party candidate in history elected.
And who says hypocrisy is dead?

Huh?
Anyway, if we are gong to discuss William Ayres, we need to discuss Joe Vogler and the Alaskan Independence Party. Our Dear Sarah has been hanging out with a member of that group which advocates secession from the United States: the First Dude.
And she has so much admiration for them:
“Sarah can be described in McCarthy-era palaver as a “fellow traveler.” While retaining her Republican registration, she attended the AIP’s 1994 convention where the party called for a draft constitution to secede from the United States and create an independent nation of Alaska. The McCain Campaign has reluctantly acknowledged that she also attended AIP’s 2000 Convention. She apparently found the experience so inspiring that she agreed to give a keynote address at the AIP’s 2006 convention and she recorded a video greeting for this year’s 2008 convention. In other words, this is not something that happened when she was eight!”

I clearly heard McCain talk about the economy today. He stated loudly and clearly that Dodd, Obama and Franks were neck deep in the criminal actions of Freddie and Fannie. And that Raines was there with them. Raines making certain that Dodd, Obama and Franks received their “fair share”.
I think Palin did mention Ayers. I am waiting for someone to bring up Resko and Wright. It certain that Jay will not.

We are witnessing - living - the results of 8 years of toxic, poisonous evidence of the quivering lump of historic failure that is Drunkbush’s and all that is today’s “Republicanism.” A group of collective goons who have willfully seen the meltdown and human suffering of our economy, an ignorantly started and grossly failed war, a massive deficit, and the wild raping gluttonous raping of the U.S. Treasury. And yet stupid JOE SIXPACK has not yet had enough - and would wish more upon us - in the name of never-ever-was-a=hero McShame and his highly documented and historic “career” as evidenced in “Naval Archives” and a thousand other sources. Add to that disgusting history Sad Sarah, and this entire group of cowardly, loud-mouthed, acidulated intellectual eunuchs simply marches onward - never learning a damned thing.

Its now in the best interest of the country.
Vice-President Cheney needs to resign. Obama should then replace Cheney. Bush then needs to resign so Obama can take over early to lead this country in our time of crisis.
The future of our great nation depends on it.
Last chance to save face Republicans. You have 2 days to decide. Thats it. If you don’t surrender now Bush will be impeached then removed from office by the Senate. Same with Cheney. How does President Pelosi sound? Do it the hard way, thats what you’ll end up with. Its time for some cooperation out of you.
There’s too much at stake here.
The Bush stock market has now lost 2,000 points in almost 8 years. Disgusting.
Its time to send Bush off on his self-imposed exile a little early.
Democrats please do your part. During the nations great Republican collapse , please resist the urge to say “I told you so.” We all knew the economic surprise was coming, we just didn’t know it would end up being the “October surprise” for the Republicans. We should all try to come together.
Make no mistake though Republicans, part of the surrender terms will also ban Republicans from using terms like “bi-partisanship.” Lol, you’ve got to be kidding me. It ain’t going to happen. Lol.

Jay,
If you were a Republican would you be wanting to talk about the economy. I got some flyers in the mail from some of the local Republican Incumbents and there was not a word mentioned about the economy or the “rescue bailout” or jobs. I think all it mentioned was something about family values and drill baby drill or something equally as stupid.

Dear Godzie and kChub,
If you want to find some quotes go look for yourself. They are there.
You, Mrs. Godzie, just yesterday implied that McCain was taking an energy drink that was possibly addictive . It wss written quite clearly in your link. Next week, you will say you never suggested any kind of drug addiction, That is the squirmy way liberals comment.
Same for you ,K Chub…
Take your limited abilities and read over the liberal posts. I have often read comments from liberals saying that McCain didn’t have a hard time as a POW because they knew his father was an admiral and he was treated “easy” and blah blah blah.
That is the OBAMA CAMP and you are part of it. Quit denying your OWN propaganda.

I hear the county Voter offices are being flooded with angry voters. It seems thousands upon thousands of upset Republicans are demanding the right to cancel the votes they cast early for John McCain. Thousands are begging for the right to change their votes to Obama. Its truly a mess. Some thought they were casting a “provisional ballot.” They thought that meant they could change their vote later, you know, if they changed their mind. Wow.
I get the feeling that for every acorn fraud voter out there, there are also 2 disgruntled John McCain votes.
Lets call it a wash.

Hairy Reed Implies Radio Host is Racist for Tying Fannie Mae Exec to Obama
“Thee last refuge of the intellectually bankrupt,” as I understand it:
Barack Obama has claimed to be the candidate of change who steers clear of lobbyists. Once again Obama is lying. One lobbyist Obama has ties to is Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden. Now we learn that Obama was the third highest recipient of campaign contributions from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac that have just been bailed out by the government. Here are the top recipients of campaign contributions from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, 1989-2008:

Paul: thanks for the laugh.
Barry Ritholz is writing that the next stop for the DOW is around 7200 with nothing technical to stop if between here and there. That cuts another 100 points off the S&P 500.
Hang onto your hats!
FYI: this has to do with $400 BILLION of derivatives from bankrupt Lehman that are going to get unraveled on Friday. And with no one quite sure who has, it’s going to be scary until we get through that.
Why does this always happen in October anyway? We’re already down more than 2000 points for the month and it’s only the 9th.

Corporal @ 4:24pm : That’s a powerful verse indeed. Lord knows our land needs some healing right about now.
I wonder, though: Are all the cash-taking, spa-going Wall St. executives, all the greedy, unscrupulous lenders, and all the war-mongering, neo-con-trickle-down-borrow-and-spend politicians who got us into this mess even capable of humbling themselves as the good Lord asks?
Doubtful. It’s sad, really. I’d be interested to know how many of them ever saw the movie “Ghost”, where all the greedy banker types ended up being dragged away by the shadowy, grabby hands of doom to a terrifying afterlife. It may be just a story, but “Ghost” offered a good message about selfishness and greed and where it can get you.

Bookman,
You remind me of Je$$ie Jackson. No scruples…. little tolerance, one sided opinions that skirt the truth…. an AJC clone who preaches the party line to keep his job…. all you need is a Rainbow to complete your image. You continue to post items that fan the fires of conflict but offer little to no solution and confound the conflict. Just like Je$$ie. It sells blog time but offers you little credibility and less than an honorable image. You will not post dissenting opinions, although there are many that fit the present rhetoric. You will not acknowledge that ACORN is a joke, a political misfire who spends taxpayer money on a partisan cause that benefits Mr. Wonderful. And you revel in the fact that this whole picture is one of responsibility and accountability to your readers. Some of the less than informed believe your tripe but others of us who have some neurons left in that cortex of ours wonder at your stupidity and lack of vision. I sure as hell do.

So, there was no problem raised with the swaps taking precedence over the bonds. I think I’d want to see who was pushing for those changes in the bankruptcy laws back in 2005 and who knew what and when. This just doesn’t smell right.

Here’s one of our senators said on October 1, after the Senate passed the $700 billion bailout:
”..’This bill does precisely the one thing that we can do to help unlock the credit markets and help the average working Georgian, the average Georgia retiree, the average Georgia child who is looking to the future to benefit from what right now is a very difficult situation,” Isakson said.’ “
That was about 2,000 points ago on the DOW. And the credit markets are still frozen.
There is a deep underlying cause for these financial meltdowns: The Fractional Reserve Banking System.
It permits lenders to loan money they don’t have. Instead of being investors, they become gamblers.
Everywhere else in the economy this is called FRAUD, but in the banking system it’s called “leverage.”
I realize that the powers-that-be are loathe to address this issue because it removes some of thier power, but until this FUNDAMENTAL problem is fixed, this same thing will keep happening, until—at some point—the entire system collapses and there’s nothing left.
This is the main issue of our time, not only in the United States but the world over.

First off, McCain is truly an american hero. He served us in our time of need and paid a high price for his efforts. My little brother almost died in Iraq in 2003 from an IED, and he still serves today, he now flies Cobra’s over there, actually he just returned in May, so he’s in San Diego. Why am telling you trolls this (right and left trolls…)? To let you all know that someone here at least knows a soldier.
I have nothing but respect for McCain and his record, so please stop trying to tear it down.
Republicans have had control of the white house for the last 8 years, and congress (the pursestrings) for 12 of the last 14. Democrats don’t need to talk about anything else but the record of those years, and the results (today’s economy, and the size of the government and it’s entitlements).
What else is there to talk about? Military service is irrelevant in today’s politics, it was deemed so in 2000, and in 2004, why is it suddenly relevant today?

Why hasn’t Barney Frank been brought up in front of Henry Waxman’s over-sight committee? What about Chris Dodd? What about Jamie Gorelick? This turn in the economy is not the Republicans fault, it is the Democrats! It is all because of the problems at Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac! Where is the lame stream media on this? Why isn’t 60 Minutes doing a story on this? What about 20/20? The media is in the pocket of the dems, and no one can convince me otherwise.
All the dems say we need over-sight. We have a commission that over sees this, and it is run by democrats. Why don’t they start pulling in their democrat friends and put them under oath? Can someone please explain to me how this is the Republicans fault? They were the ones speaking out 4-5 years ago about this. Hell, even your own Bill Clinton said it is the democrats fault.
