Hmmm… McCain gets nice bounce

From Politico.com:

John McCain has overtaken Barack Obama in the Gallup daily tracking poll and has his highest level of support in that poll since early May.

McCain leads Obama 48 percent to 45 percent among registered voters, by Gallup’s measure. McCain has so far earned the same convention bounce as Obama, though at a more rapid pace.

Obama peaked at a 5-point convention bounce in polling published last Tuesday. He was ahead 49 percent to 43 percent in the Gallup poll conducted before the Republican convention. He then soared to 50 percent for the first time of the election, by Gallup’s measure, while McCain fell to 42 percent.

McCain’s 5-point to 6-point bounce so far, like Obama’s, remains at par with historical expectations. In the 22 major-party conventions since 1964, the nominee walked away with, on average in most years, a 5-point to 6-point uptick in Gallup’s polls. The presidential polling will likely remain in flux until the middle of next week.

I think national polls in a state by state race are kind of silly, but this one will be interesting to look at tomorrow. This one has all three of the days since Governor Palin’s acceptance speech, but only two of the three days in the sample are after McCain’s acceptance.

I would say that since Obama had opened up an 8 point lead in this poll after his convention and now McCain is up 3, it’s more like an 11 point bounce so far.

The Annointed One will need at least a 10% uptick in the polls to win. There are that many people in this country that will not vote for a black candidate. Like it or not, the truth hurts. You are leaving out the “can’t have a black candidate” vote along with the Hillary people who don’t want this empty suit who pushes around ladies just to win a primary. Add this to the ladies out there who will want Palin to win, no matter her abortion stance or her Evangelical bent on decisions. Add the rejuvenated GOP and you have a pure success story. This lady will win this election and it has the libs scared to death.

Here’s some interesting polling data.

Meanwhile, 51% of those surveyed thought the press was “trying to hurt” Mrs. Palin with its coverage.

Perhaps most troubling for the press corps, though, was this finding: “55% said media bias is a bigger problem for the electoral process than large campaign donations.”

Well this “bump” is a no-brainer. It was to be expected. Conservatism is certainly not dead. Once again we will be in a tight race like 2000, and the only thing I fear, REALLY fear, is an accusation of being a “racist” because “neocons” didn’t vote for Him The Chosen One. Only liberals like the former Democrat Vice Presidential candidate Geraldine “Obama would not be where he was if he were white” Ferraro could instigate that.

Jay made a good point on cut-n-pasting posting from other sources. I will heed that. However, someone needs to edumacate why “neocons” are here vs. Wooten’s blog. God Hates Trash needs help. I am me and onlyme:

Now, with regard to multiple IDs, are you still letting us know when someone signs in from the same account with a different screenname, or if someone namejacks?

One of my roles when I worked for a government agency out of northern Virginia was communications analysis. We studied written syntax, spellings, and colloquialisms to analyze written and typed material to determine authorship. A few times we worked on projects with domestic crime enforcement agencies, as well. The press trying to hurt Mrs Palin with its coverage!! They are “bulldozing” the whole family with media bias.

I feel sorry for conservative candidates. For the Palins, the latest dirt is something about an “affair”. I hope the originator of that one gets sued. If they don’t understand ethics they might understand losing money for their lies.

And……if the public wants to link that media bias to the outcome of the dem party nomination, it’s no wonder the voting public is displaying a lack of confidence in the selection of OBlahMa.

I tried to warn ‘em during the campaign. Don’t know why though. Maybe because it wasn’t right to let a party and its media railroad the voters?

Dusty,

There was actually another rumor after the affair rumor trying to paint Mrs. Palin as a racist. Even Koz has started pulling down blog threads about that one.

The one about the affair is telling and goes straight to the media bias and it’s hard not to call this one liberal bias. When the rumors about John Edwards surfaced the press just shrugged their collective shoulders, but on this one there are mainstream media folks crawling all over Wasilla. If they don’t find anything I think they should be forced to go back up there exactly six months from now and spend just as much time as they spend this time.

A few Obama supporters may have crossed over to McCain, but the biggest surge is those that were not politically engaged are now fired up and voting for Palin/McCain (in that order!).

I think it’s time we raised our voices to the safety of our election. We know now something about a “patch” on our voting machine programs, with a number of lost votes.

I want every McCain vote and every Obama vote and every Barr vote and every Nader vote….COUNTED

Let the chips fall where they may, both sides will continue the fight, but let’s make sure ALL the votes are counted and that they are counted CORRECTLY.

News Flash,

John Edwards’s baby was thought to be conceived by his coke snorting video reporter but anonymous sources have just revealed that it was actually conceived by Edwards on his last trip to Alaska. His yearning to learn how to gut a moose turned into “something he couldn’t control” and all of a sudden, we have an issue. To Edwards credit, however, he has denied any knowledge of this affair and has given the prospective mother of the child permission to DNA test the baby to prove once and for all that he is a good trial lawyer, smitten by circumstances and willing to go the “extra mile” to assure the American voter that trial lawyers are not the bottom feeding scum that most of America’s image is pre-occupied with. Meanwhile, the mother of the baby has been mum about the details but still wants to run for VP of this fine country. She has obtained the help of Slick Willy Clinton to improve her image with the electorate. She hopes to recruit him into an active role in the NRA.

The results of this bit of Obama’s “community organizing”? Unmet promises, $100,000 n government waste, a donation for Obama and a sweetheart deal for the donor.

Obama’s $100,000 garden grant wasted He vowed to ‘work tirelessly’ to build an oasis for Englewood. It never happened.

As a state senator, Barack Obama gave $100,000 in state money to a campaign volunteer who failed to deliver on a plan to create a botanic garden in one of Chicago’s most blighted neighborhoods.

Obama — who was running for Congress when he announced the project in 2000 — said the green space in Englewood would build ”a sense of neighborhood pride.”

Instead, what was supposed to be a six-block stretch of trees and paths is now a field of unfulfilled dreams, strewn with weeds, garbage and broken pavement.

Kenny B. Smith, whose nonprofit group got the money, said it was spent legitimately, mostly on underground site preparation. But he admitted Thursday that the garden is a lost cause because other government money never came through.

“We gave up,” said Smith, who heads the Chicago Better Housing Association. “It was a losing battle.”

Smith — an early Obama supporter who gave $550 to his state and congressional campaigns — said he gave his paperwork documenting the work to a state agency and no longer has it. A Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity spokeswoman said officials would look into the matter.”

George Dumbya Bush’s selection and election have taught us to never misunderestimate the number of scared stupid misanthropes that vote in this country.

Let’s face it, no way the small-minded small towners and suburbanites in this country are ever going to elect a black man President of the United States of America. I think Obama will suffer the Harvey Gantt effect - white racists - and Governor Palin shows us there are hundreds of millions in the US - that say publicly they are voting for him will change their vote in the booth.

I don’t think the 2008 Electoral College map is going to change much, if at all. Obama might get NM this time, I think Palin locks down the gundamnentalist votes, and the mountain west is full of wannabe cowboys, so CO probably stays GOP.

Ohio and Pennsylvania are overrun with Appalachians, and those folks are scared to death of black people. Palin is all about generating fear, hate, resentment, and finding scapegoats - I’m waiting for her to blame Hollywood for getting Bristol pregnant - and she’ll help McCain rebuild the GOP bridge to these hatefilled nobodies from nowhere.

McCain will definitely take OH, probably PA too. He won’t need PA, anyway.

My best guess is the only changes to 2004 are Obama swaps PA for NM (a poor trade), and loses the Electoral College 236-302.

The Wasilla Assembly of God church is deeply involved with both Third Wave activities and theology. …The pastor, Ed Kalnins, and Masters Commission students have traveled to South Carolina to participate in a “prophetic conference” at Morningstar Ministries, one of the major ministries of the Third Wave movement. Becky Fischer was a pastor at Morningstar prior to being featured in the movie “Jesus Camp.” …The Third Wave is a revival of the theology of the Latter Rain tent revivals of the 1950s and 1960s led by William Branham and others. It is based on the idea that in the end times there will be an outpouring of supernatural powers on a group of Christians that will take authority over the existing church and the world. The believing Christians of the world will be reorganized under the Fivefold Ministry and the church restructured under the authority of Prophets and Apostles and others anointed by God. The young generation will form “Joel’s Army” to rise up and battle evil and retake the earth for God.

(Hopefully Governor L-o-l-a will use her new superpowers for the good of the people of the USA, not the Christian Kingdom of Alaska).

Fundamnentalists will eat this stuff up. She’s as crazy as they are. Never misunderestimate the stupidity of the American electorate. The bounce is all the morons turning their frowns about McCain upside down for McCain/Palin.

Uh no, because that project had nothing to do with McCain.

I guess your rationale for everything is that any criticism of Obama record can be countered by anything done by the last Congress? Does that mean I get to hold the actions of the current (13% approval rating) Congress against Obama?

Better yet, why don’t you judge the candidates by their own record. If you did, you would see that McCain has been the biggest opponent of such waste that the Senate has had for decades.

But hey, I guess if Obama got busted for corruption, you would feel fine with it as long as Ted Stevens got busted for a little more. How pathetic.

In the new poll, taken Friday through Sunday, McCain leads Obama by 54%-44% among those seen as most likely to vote. The survey of 1,022 adults, including 959 registered voters, has a margin of error of +/— 3 points for both samples.

The country is trillions of dollars in debt, with much of it having been borrowed from overseas banks, food is expensive and comes from distant, often less regulated regions in terms of safety, we have no national policy on future energy development - worse -200 year old steam, coal and gas turbines technology are the preferred way forward. It is time to move into the 21st century. Solar, wind and wave power is readily available and will not run out. The country needs an energy policy which will encourage development and investment in the next wave of power generation - not ancient, industrial revolution era ideas that are still around because the infrastructure is still profitable, if not sustainable. Has anyone else noticed that whenever republicans are in office for two terms - at least the last three times- the deficit balloons and ‘profit taking’ occurs. It seems as if the money has been sucked out of the economy and the national treasury and siphoned into Halliburton, Blackwater, Lockheed, Exxon - those with the pull in the republican party. The middle class has shrunk, the very rich are much richer - witness the waiting lists for ultra luxury yachts and other goods, and the numbers of poor people have grown.
Can a society continue in this direction without economic and social collapse? I think not. Vote Obama. His stated position is to reduce taxes on the middle class - those making less than $250,000 and reinstate the taxes that had been imposed on the ultra wealthy. Fairness. Bush gave away the store.

I caught part of a replay of the 2006 debate of the three candidates for Alaska governor. The debate was a low-key affair, but two things struck me. First, Palin was quite poised and well-spoken. Second, several times she used only about half of the time allocated for her response. She answered the question clearly and directly and then simply stopped talking.

If Republican operatives let Palin be Palin, Republicans could get some joy from the contrast with Joe Biden.

Or as the GOP and McCain powers that be would say: ‘Middle and working class Americans very rarely vote their economic and global interest. So let’s NOT talk about the issues or how we plan to solve them. Let’s just talk about ‘Hanoi Hilton McCain’; bring in a woman who NEVER even got a passport until 2007, but who can gut a deer and believes that Creationism should be taught in schools. Oh yeah, and let’s not let her speak to the press because we wouldn’t want her to say something stupid until we finish indoctrinating her’. If McCain wins, Palon will need to give all of us lessons on how to live in the wilderness and hunt and cook moose, as most of us will no longer be able to afford shelter or food.

This country is at a critical juncture. It will either rise to be what it proclaims in the Constitution or it will hold fast to its darker truthes. Obama’s fit for this moment in time has nothing to do with race and everything to do with purpose. If this capitalistic society wishes to continue its existence with 1% of the wealthy controlling the other 99% and making fools of 50% rather than to share our collective wealth with all having a seat at the table and near fair chance of succeeding….then so it shall be. I pray for our Country to be restored to it former greatness to realize it’s potential. WOW, McCain and a woman that should be home caring for her newborn son and supporting her young daughter is going to study for 58 more days to be our international leader and Commander in Chief. The excess stress will challenge the senior Senator and his health….every medical professional will concur. WOW!

I Can’t believe these prissy little liberals are really going to pursue this:

Facing allegations that the U.S. spied on its Iraqi allies, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Sunday defended the relationship between the two governments as “very open and transparent.” But she did not directly confront the assertion, raised in a new book by Bob Woodward, that the Bush administration spied extensively on Iraq Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and others in the Baghdad government.-Urinal/Jihad.

It’s absolutely ridiculous to say that we shouldn’t have spied on the Iraqi government, I remember somebody saying the words Trust but verify.

All it shows is how very, very little the liberals have.

The Urinal still trying to extract themselves from this:

The U.S. military said Sunday it has “new information” about an American attack that Afghanistan says killed 90 civilians, and a senior U.S. military officer is being sent to the country to review the initial U.S. investigation, which concluded that no more than seven civilians died.-Urinal/Jihad

Let me guess, we need to give the Taliban enough time to find and kill 60 children so they can stage their fake propaganda photos for the viewing pleasure of the libs in the AJC/DNC?

That girl:

Every attack on Palin seems to have backfired so far. Internet rumor-mongers had a field day (by Sunday, conservative blogger Charles Martin had listed 69 different Palin rumors), and yet her popularity increased. With Palin on the ticket, McCain attracted overflow crowds in excess of 10,000 at each stop Friday and Saturday in Wisconsin, Michigan and Colorado. Just three weeks earlier, by comparison, the Republican drew only 3,000 to a Pennsylvania rally.

A president’s pension currently is $191,300 per year, until he is 80 years old.

Assuming the next president lives to age 80, Sen. McCain would receive ZERO pension as he would reach 80 at the end of two terms as president. Sen. Obama would be retired for 26 years after two terms and would receive $4,973,800 in pension.

Therefore it would certainly make economic sense to elect McCain in November.

How’s that for non partisan thinking???

Anybody that thought it was going to be easy to elect a black man with a funny name as president of the good old U.S. of A. is as delusional as our current leader. For one thing, the Republicans Are’nt playing fair, they actually nominated a pretty good man. Second the situation in Iraq has improved to point that the once dejected party faithful have dusted off their mission accompished banners. A little premature again. If the election comes to the war, Grandpa Munster will triumph, however if Obama can keep things focused on the economy stupid we could still show the world that we’re not the ignorant bigoted rednecks we’ve been made to seem over the last eight years. Technically true, marko, but it was NOT the established GOP.

Karl Rove and his puppets who run the party, despise McCain as a RINO.

They would have chosen almost anybody other than him if they could have. (Maybe not Ron Paul!)

Fat Fred, Flip-flopping Lurch, Prayerful Sam & Huck and even 9/11 Rudy are MUCH more akin to their neo-con ideology, have generally march in jackbooted lockstep with BushCo and are therefore one of them.

It was independents, centrists, moderates, disenchanted Democrats and disgusted Republicans who got McCain the nomination

How bad does it have to get for people to realize that Republicans are not for the average American? A lack of knowlege on the part of most Americans is what keeps Republicans in the White House. Ok high gas prices, high cost of health care, sub-standard schools —-BOO! But wait….we can get them by saying “We love America”…and DUH you fall for it everytime. Loving American means loving the people of American and wanting whats best for them.

No one is asking for a dang handout (it was Bill CLinton who signed the welfare to work program) but dont reward companies for sending jobs oversees, dont give big oil companies tax breaks while they are fleecing the American public, increase funding to our public schools because the child in that school could be the one who saves my life as a future doctor or takes my life as a future criminal —- so we all should be concerned about educating our youth. Yeah what would Jesus do? Not spew the divisive rhetoric of the Republican party that’s for sure.

I believe the issue revolves around the word “conservative”.

I contend that there a re virtually none in this country. Plenty of neo-cons to be sure but that’s about it.

Only after having the truth shoved in their faces for years do most of these self-named/misnamed “conservatives” finally admit that the hijacked GOP of BushCo is NOT, in any real way conservative.

I’ve asked a dozen times for anyone to list the basic tenets of true American conservatism and NO ONE EVER has done so. And to justify their (mis)use of this word.

“Elle” is correct!

Repulicans will sell you your own shoes if you allow them to. WAKE UP! They are not concerned about the average American. They continue to lie to you and you believe what they say. Obama is not going to raise YOUR taxes. He is proposing pre-Bush Tax Cut/Term rates. Clinton era taxation which taxes Large Corporations and the Wealthy at a more fair rate in proportion to what the average American (most of you) pays! It is those wealthy mostly older white folk who are pushing this agenda. If you looked at the audience at the RNC, who was there in mass? Ok.

Don’t be scared (Republicans fear mongering) into thinking Obama wants us dead. He will protect our country. He will work with the Generals/Admirals, Joint Chief of Staff, etc. to make sure that we do what is needed as a nation to be protected, protect our allies, and repair our standing, make new allies, etc.

Don’t be stupid! Obama want’s to educate all children so that there will be no need to rob, steal, whatever. When you have a job, you don’t need to do that. We must educate all people, equally no matter what it takes.

Don’t be ill! Obama will make sure everyone has access to affordable healthcare.

THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO HAVE TO GIVE UP SOME OF THEIR MONEY ARE THE CORPORATIONS WHO ARE RAKING IN HISTORIC EARNINGS CURRENTLY

HE IS NOT MUSLIM HE IS HALF-WHITE HE IS CHRISTIAN HE IS LOGICAL HE IS A LAWYER

These are facts. Obama will give afford our country the opportunity to flourish again (Clinton style economic activity and growth, even debt reduction because of increased solvency). He will listen to other ideas and plot the best course for the country (all people) instead of directing any growth [the growth currently is in military and all that support the military=government contractors, oil&gas, ammunition, aviation, etc., these industries are doing great] just to industries you are connected to.
I own my own small business, employ almost 20 people in two states. I believe that Obama will be good for our country and my future. Don’t be fooled by McCain/Palin people, look beyond them an what they claim to stand for, look at who wins and loses under their policies.

You pose a very good question! I am not sure that any TRUE conservatives exist. I think we are basically are a people who has become lazy and spoiled. We want everything to be handed out to us.

The politicians have played this to their advantage. They know full well that a growing percentage of the population is just willing to wait on a handout. The Democrats are the “peoples” party, HOW ABSURD! They are just as corrupt as their friends on the right side. The question should be, How long will the good people of this country allow this to continue!

I am an educated man.(well maybe not as educated as some of the democrats on this blog.):) I am still very optimistic that somebody can make a difference. I gave Gov. Palin five minutes of my time the other night and she kept me up until the end of her speech.

I have always been a judge of good character, and I was pleasantly pleased with the governor from Alaska. Yes, she had someone who wrote that speech for her, but I will submit to anyone that 100 percent of that speech was all about Gov. Palin, and she was very instrumental in every word or phrase. She is a breath of fresh air and I hope that she is as strongly committed when she gets to Washington as she is today. If she holds tight to her resolve it is most likely that she will be our first woman President.. IMHO.

I for one will be glad to vote for her….

Pro-Life - But against programs that help poor single mothers to get on their feet.

Love our troops - But do not work to get better programs to support our veterans.

Love their country - When you love your country does that include the people? Or do you just love the trees and the dirt and stuff? If you love your country then you love your people and when they are hurting you help.

Not handouts but policies that don’t reward companies for shipping jobs overseas. By ensuring that Americans can afford to go to the doctor (remember Pro-life right). “Pro-Life - But against programs that help poor single mothers to get on their feet.”

Specifics? Didn’t Pres Clinton get a lot of heat from some Dems for working with moderate Dems and Reps to pass the same welfare reforms to get working mothers on their feet that we have today?

“Love our troops - But do not work to get better programs to support our veterans.”

Specifics? Has there been a bill for increased defense spending (or specifically, veterans) opposed by Reps? Or Dems? Sure, problems are found, but then doesn’t the money start flowing?

“Love their Country, help unfortunates” It’s pretty clear (Professor Albert Brooks, Syracuse University, Who Cares: The Surprising Truth About Who Is Charitable, Who Isn’t, and Why It Matters for America) that conservatives/religious people at all income levels have a much higher level of charitable giving than liberals/nonreligious. Main reason for liberals (Dems?) not being generous is their view that it’s a government role - so when a law is passed mandating higher taxes to support a program, they’ll comply. Just not voluntarily.

First on self-responsibility. Sorry but I can’t negotiate what breaks corporations get for moving jobs oversees no matter how responsible I am. I can’t talk self responbility to get affordable health care for all Americans.

2nd, the work to welfare program is a good one and who signed that — a Democrat Bill Clinton.

3rd, as much as I would love to do your research for you simply go to www.congress.org and you will see the tons of bills and policies that were passed by Republicans (some are tucked nicely away as ad-ins in other bills) that shows how hypocritical this party is.

4th, charitable giving—ha —don’t make me laugh..I am not talking about what money is dropped in the buckets of clergymen in hopes they will keep you in the white house (you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours). I am speaking of your tax dollars—-WHOA I know that blew you away. Show some charity by giving of your tax dollars to help those in need.

Also by the way, Palins pregnant teenager is fortunate that she was born into a well to do family so she does not need the program that Gov. Palin line item vetoed to help pregnant teenagers get housing. Such a hypocrite.

Also, speaking of Sarah Palin, who in their ever loving right mind would support Russ Limbaugh as President? She supported him ….now look that up as well.

Bush does not take heed to 9/11 warning and we have the worst terrorist act in history on American soil and he becomes a hero—-cough cough. I mean what about the other Presidents who did not have the worst Terrorist act in history…..now they were the heros.

Bad on economy, Bad on supporting our Troops, Bad on Homeland Security, just plain bad. There is nothing good I can say about this administration.

First, the “corporate sell-out” label applies to libs and cons, Dems and Reps. They give it different names, but it’s the same thing. Even the advocates don’t practice what they preach. Take the whipping boy of the farright – George Soros, he who is a oneworldsocialistwhatever. Care to guess where he keeps a good portion of his billions? Correct – Caribbean accounts. Offshore. Why? To avoid US income taxes. Think of all the suffering that could be alleviated if this paragon of helping others simply paid his fair share of taxes.

My point Pres Clinton’s welfare reforms – they were vigorously opposed by many within his party.

Your 3rd point – of course! Same’s true for Dems. Which is why Obama’s running on “Change” and McCain on “Change & Reform.”

4th – charitable giving: perhaps you should consider that the money dropped in buckets amounts to billions. And much of it goes directly to needy here or to impoverished overseas. Your response perfectly illustrated my point: private giving doesn’t count in the eyes of many liberals. Only gov’t programs.

There is a place for both.

Your comment about helping pregnant teenagers get housing: take a person with few job skills, who decides to keep her infant (choice) rather than aborting or putting up for adoption, then providing them a place to stay and food to eat: doesn’t that simply condemn them to a life of poverty? Unintended consequences abound.

Hmmmmmm - yes I do have a small company that I hope will grow to a large company. That’s the reason I just saw your remark, I am running that company right now. Anyway, I worked for a company that was at the time 3 times the size that my company is now. To quantify, if my company does ~$5M a year, it did at least 3 times that amount in the Clinton era and grew every year. Why? Although you did not see record profits from oil and other isolated industries, the growth was in multiple new businesses. The internet, expanding government outreach to minority groups by cutting red tape and making joint ventures easier and in most places even required. Each municipality should offer business opportuinties to the masses, not jus the well connected.

My business will be taxed at the same rate or less under Obama, with other programs that will help me obtain capital or financing at market rate. I am not worried at all, and when I become very wealthy like many of my mentors, I want to pay my fair share of taxes to help those less fortunate. You should be ashamed that it is not in your heart to give and serve others. I promise you, I will continue to pay my taxes, grow my company, and increase the opportunities for my family and the society that we matriculate in. The tax plan Barak outlined cut taxes for the middle-class and eliminates the Tax Cuts for folk making $250K+, bringing them(us)back to proportionally what they(we) should have been anyway!
Hmmmmmmm - stop being a selfish/nincumpoop! Besides the government needs the money to put into new schools, after school programs, job training, job fairs, military vet programs, conservation efforts, research, and the list goes on. *WE HAVE TO FIX WHAT HAS BEEN SCREWED UP FOR ALMOST EIGHT YEARS, THAT’S GONNA TAKE A LOT OF TIME, MUCH BETTER AND DIFFERENT DECISION MAKING, NEW IDEAS, ETC. Thank you Nativebird… you sound pretty smart so you were probably not educated in Georgia huh :). These people scare me. Republicans are counting on the dummies and the ones who fall for the okie doke to continue to run this economy into the ground. Its futile to discuss it here.

Yes I know there is no perfect party or candidate (I do not support everything that Democrats support)but I know I used to pay less for food, gas, health care, utilities, etc. I know that I could ride through the streets of Georgia and see stores flourishing and not all boarded up like they are now. I know the average American is worst off now than when Bush took over 8 years ago——Now that is something we all should know.

Also I know that a teenager who makes the “mistake” in getting pregnant as Gov Palin’s daugher did is much more likely to keep the baby if she has financial and moral support (like Palin’s daugher does). So in essence Republicans create an economic environment that indirectly contributes to women feeling incapable of supporting a new baby —hence abortion….hmmmm think about that.

Truth…so when you spew th word Socialist with such disdain is it due to the fear of more taxes? Surely you are not in the upper crust making over $250k are you? Baracks plan reduces taxes on over 90% of Americans.

So here is the thing….the reason people do not want to pay more taxes is you want to keep more of your hard earned money right? I hear that from Republicans a lot. “It’s your money you should take home more of your pay”. But get this……under this Republican leadershp ( and McCain is more of the same) you are keeping less of your money anyway. HA HA …they fooled you didn’t they. Yes take home more pay but oh wait you are paying 3 times more for gas, twice as much for food, more for utilities, garbage pickup etc. So wait….what does that equal…..can we all say it together ——an indirect TAX INCREASE…..less money in your pockets…boy you guys just dont get it do you.

Ellle…. No…. I make far far far less than 250k a year, but I know and understand that by boss is a small business owner and if he gets taxed more then he has less money to pay me so therefore I either take a paycut or get laid off. Why cant you understand that? I have buddys who own their own business and they are scared of what new taxes are gonna come their way. They can barely afford to pay employees as it is. Small business are what make this economy gorw and if you tax the heck out of them then it will trickle down to the little guy…. you and me!

RealityKing?
Really? You obviously don’t make enough money yourself to even start to understand my commment. No way you should vote Republican. Not smart, no money? Wow, you are the last person that they care about. OH, you are Pro-Life! So the govt. can tell a woman that she can’t choose to keep her baby, but it can tell the rich they can keep their money (in the form of tax cuts that proportionately give them a lower bracket than the middle-class taxpayer)!!!! That doesn’t make any sense, Buddy. Wake up!

OK, I am a Grady Baby, ATL native, Falcon Fan, “Nativebird”!! I am also a very proud Black Man, educated here in ATL as well, grad and undergrad. Elle, just know that there are a lot of us out here. I like you comments, but you must understand, the people attacking you are mostly OTP, transplants themselves. I’ve been here all my life, I even remember when all of Georgia was a Democratic state! It has been the influx of (I’m gonna tell the truth) white people with good jobs (because the ATL job market has been more stable due to GA based major businesses) attacking downtown ATL, traffic, city government, etc., all while living 45 to 1:45 minutes away from the city. Trying to do to our city what happens in their old city. Segregation, division of ethic and social groups, redirection of wealth and human services to the weathly, connected and privelidged. Not gonna happen here…. WE HAVE GREAT PEOPLE OF ALL RACES WORKING TOGETHER AND SOON WE WILL GAIN THE MAJORITY BACK. GO DEMOCRATS!!

Well Nativebird…. I too have always lived here and I can honestly say that when I first got out of high school I was a Democrat…. then I grew up and realized what this world is really all about and please quit with the old cry of “Segregation, division of ethic and social groups, redirection of wealth and human services to the weathly, connected and privelidged.” It is just so old and boring. I struggle everyday to make it. My wife and I want to have a baby but we know that we cannot afford to have one right now. I am not gonna cry about it… I am gonna work harder and maker smarter decisions to that I will one day be in a place in my life that I want to be. People need to make things happen instead of waiting on things to happen!

PS… Them Falcons looked good yesterday… can we agree on that? lol

Simply amazing! I surely hope in both our cases that your beloved Obama is not elected. I for one would hate to say, I told you so…. because YOU sir are WRONG! But hey, There is not much chance for Obama, even though he is the media darling. This country, and not only in the south ,see this man for what he is, a suit with NO substance.IMHO.

Ellle, I sure wish I could have taken those advanced Northern Courses….

Hey, Nativebird ,you and Ellle have a nice day!:)

RW: You proved my point!! she’ll be interviewed on ABC almost 2 weeks after being picked as VP so they could ‘crash course’ her. And (oh yeah RW) she did speak in front a GOP crowd in Denver ahd made her first gaff. She says that the american people are tired of their taxes paying for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Don’t you think a VP should have known that they were private companies.

Last comment: Truth - I don’t have any kids either, just got remarried, and want to have kids soon. I have made smart choices and will continue to try. A better economy, more jobs, better access to cheaper healthcare, and a government that will listen to the average person will help, BOTH OF US!!!

Hmmmmm - I bet your a nice guy, but you are the one that is flat Wrong. you can’t possibly think that we are headed in the right direction. Come on. Gas prices, ignorant foreign policy, arrogant posturing, no fiscal common-sense, uugggh!

Jay, it will be close, but Obama/Biden and common-sense will win in the end. you can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time!! What bounced up will soon bounce down……lol
