The last thing we needed… ‘Uppity’
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Just a couple of weeks ago we had the Georgia Bigfoot hunters in the national news. Now we’ve got a Georgia congressman complaining that Barack and Michelle Obama are “uppity.”
Uppity.

There are many different ways to deal with problems and sometimes one has to use a trial-and-error approach in order to find a way that works. Take the Republican party’s whining about those terrible taxes paid by corporations and “rich” people and all those poor people out there living off of others — especially those poor immigrants that used to work in factories in Mississippi and such. If they had not been hanging out at the emergency rooms day in and day out, they probably never would have even been noticed but that’s a different topic and besides, I’m sure that McCain will do the right thing, just like he used to say, once he’s elected. Anyway, back to the main point. Obviously, the Republican politician’s election-cycle whining has not changed things so why not try something fresh… new… different. Let the Republican whiners have their way but it has to be all the way — none of this back-peddling, I was for it before I was against it, stuff. To start with, let’s go for one of those items that Republican legacies (I mean “live the Reagan dream” sort of stuff) are made of — eliminate all corporate taxes, all capital gains taxes, all dividend taxes, all interest income taxes, alternative minimum taxes, and estate taxes, and then distribute the taxes needed, to fund the compassionate conservative Republican version of small government, evenly over all persons at least 18 years or older, regardless of income or whatever. Surely, they would consider such an arrangement to be as fair as humanly possible. And, just to keep the whiny Republicans from moaning about doing the fiscally responsible thing, let’s say OK to the Republican approach of borrow and spend — we’ll let them continue with that approach until they can no longer find someone to front them another payday loan. Let’s get these uppity Republicans to do something other than whine about everyone else not letting them have what they want. Let’s give them everything that they have whined about — effective immediately. After all, don’t they think that elitists like Obama pay too much in taxes. Do they call everyone else of Obama’s stature uppity. How about Saxby Chambliss, for example. He strikes me as uppity. Does anyone else know of someone that is uppity. (I’ve been called arrogant. Is that considered equivalent to uppity. Maybe @@ knows.) After that, we can move on to even more uppity topics such as receiving a proper education, looking out for oneself, making babies and war-mongering.
Anyway, that’s probably enough from me for now. I find that when I’ve been uppity to long, I can start going downity real fast.

When a white person uses the word “uppity” it means that a black person is acting in a way that is not appropriate for a race that he believes to be inferior. It is usually followed by the N word. Every black person over 30 knows what it implies. In days past, blacks were beaten and lynched by whites when they were considered “uppity”. The one good thing is that blacks under 30 do not know the meaning the word “uppity” in this context. This is an example of how far we have come as Americans. The Westmorelands of this world are insignificant and are evils of the past.

It was good to see Eli back in action last night. Once again, sports trumps politics.
Williams sister’s quarterfinal US Open action trumped Sara Crabcakes.
Eli Manning over McCangelina any day.
A: Cheney, Sarah Palin, John McCain
Q: Name a looter, a hooter and a cooter.
bwa. Am I the best? No really. Am I? Feedback here would be a groove.

“Obama jumped in to defend him on another occasion when he was asked if he had a problem with minorities.
The question was rooted in Biden’s occasional gaffes. He had apologized earlier for describing Obama as “articulate” and “clean” in one unguarded episode that was taken by some to have a racial overtone. And he’d had to defend his remark that “you cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent.””

Hey Captain Clicks. Is Biden (and Democrats) racist too? Or is this Jay showing what a shamless partisan hack he is?
Tell us again about smears, hypocrite.

To God Hates Trash:
Sir: (at least the Corporal is willing to use my proper title)
Anyone who refers to someone as an inbred moron instead of debating the issue at hand is just as bad as someone who uses the word uppity in its historic context.
There really is nothing to debate, is there?
Little Lynnie Westmoreland is a racist pinhead, elected by racist pinheads. This is the 21st century and people are still electing cretins like Little Lynnie. That’s the issue - what the hell is wrong with you people?

Reading the various blogs the past few weeks indicates there sure are a lot of uneducated people in this world. Our founding fathers were a lot smarter than we give them cr3edit for because they knew the common masses did not have enough smarts to elect the President. For all out there, you do not have the constitutional right to elect the president. Your vote does not count. If in doubt on this, read the Constitution!!

There are people in this world, and even in this area, to whom African Americans who don’t know their place are uppity

Cindy McCain
Oscar de la Renta dress: $3,000 Chanel J12 White Ceramic Watch: $4,500 Three-carat diamond earrings: $280,000 Four-strand pearl necklace: $11,000–$25,000 Shoes, designer unknown: $600 Total: Between $299,100 and $313,100
Who is elitist?
And yes, Cindy McCain is rich, but how much did she earn and how much was given to her because of the luck of being born to wealthy parents? Many of the wealthy never earned anything, they were just lucky to be born into it.

I still want to know how Obama, totally unknown in 2004, became Democratic Convention keynote speaker. Somebody was being uppity! If not egomaniacal Obama then some black politician who suggested him.

Last night’s episode of “The Washington Hillbillies” was a hoot! Talking loud and saying nothing! What you didn’t hear is a single new idea about how to make the healthcare system work, get our economy moving for the middle class, or improve education. Jed talked about his experience during the Civil War and his fondness for crawdads and hogjowels. WEEDOGGY!

Once again, I am amazed at how folks on both ends of the spectrum avoid the issue and rant at the blogosphere without really facing the facts. “Uppity” as any life-long southerner well knows was used as a racial slur to characterize any African-American who did not “know his/her place.” White racists used it to attack and tear at any successful African-American in their community and region. Sadly, in times past that we all should acknowledge, it sometimes preceeded public burnings, lynchings, or other violent forms of murder against the so labelled African-Americans. As a white southerner born and raised in the south and with grandparents and one parent who were raised in a Georgia mill town, any plea of ignorance as to the use of that term in connection with African-Americans simply is not creditable. Can’t we all agree that common decency should place certain terms with such charged connotations beyond the pale. Oppose the candidate if you wish rather than support yours but please enough already on these types of terms and language. As for the elitist term, while lacking the emotional connotations of the other, its simply not very relevant. Both candidates are a member of the elite. One went to Harvard Law School and edited the Law Review, the other is the grandson and son of four star admirals, went to the Naval Academy and is very wealthy in his own right. I thought we all really wanted the brightest and most capable candidate whose stand on the issues we could support to be elected. All of this other stuff is really nonsense.

To:gttim, You come across as sounding very, very jealous. There is nothing wrong with becoming successful in this country. Isn’t that the American dream? Isn’t that what we want all Americans to become?
I am one of those horrible, dreadful rich. I wasn’t handed that money. I grew up in a poor home but I worked hard to earn a nice income. I have three homes (oh, how terrible), put my children in private school (revolting), donate money to both schools and charities (disgusting),volunteer my time (appalling), help out people in need (deplorable) and belong to the top 10% of income earners who pay over 70% of the taxes in this country (hideous). I also put money in bonds that will mature when my children graduate from highschool so they can pay for their college education. For that, I am rewarded with paying their income taxes since their birth at my high rate even though they aren’t even old enough to work. I pay federal income taxes and state income taxes in three different states as well as the many other taxes that added on such as property taxes, etc. I don’t have a nanny for my children, don’t own a piece of designer clothing, don’t have an huge home but even if I did, there in nothing wrong with that.
Obama is for redistribution of wealth. What message is that sending out to our citizens? No need to work hard and try to become successful. We will just take it away and give it to someone else that needs it. With that kind of thinking, we will no longer have anything but a middle class America. Isn’t that socialism?
And by the way, I do plan on leaving my wealth to my children which I am sure makes me the worst kind of American in your eyes.
So by all means, please be the model citizen and update your will so that it reads that you will leave everything you have earned upon your death to the government of the United States of America.
