Nobody hits the Exacta…
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Back on Aug. 16, I asked for predictions on who would be the running mates. I’ve gone back to check, and not surprisingly, nobody got ‘em both right.
RW gets credit for picking Palin, but predicted Richardson on the other side. @@ picked Biden — but as McCain’s running mate.

Jay - there’s a reason Wooten bet you a buck and not ten grand.
The election of Palin represents Bush’s castration of the Republican Party.
The GOP is over.

I figured if I was right about Palin it wouldn’t make any difference who Obambi took.

Guess all that stuff about ‘rather lose an election than a war’ was a bunch of crap.
How’s she gonna help win the war, John?

Well, Ray…. think oil.
I can’t get my head around McCain or Obama but Palin is good for energy independence. To end the war, I mean really end the WAR and turn the economy of this country around energy independence is the ticket.
She, Palin, successfully raised the tax on big oil in Alaska, which meant a special $1,200 payment to every Alaskan on top of of the annual dividend of about $2,000 that each resident could receive this year from an oil-wealth savings account.
A very populous message to those “soccer moms”, Ms. Tucker.

Now I see the McCain yard signs and bumper stickers starting to sprout up.
Lot’s of happiness in Conservative Land tonite, people writing checks and looking at the calender for the first Tuesday in November.
Don’t want to miss out our chance to put a woman on top.

My wife and two grown daughters, who could really give a bag of Cynthia Tucker nose hair about politics, have been glued to the TV watching all about Sarah Palin.
“This is so cool” said my youngest daughter, who had said previously if she voted at all, it would be Democrat. But not any more. She’s a Palin supporter all the way, therefore now a McCain supporter as well.
It’s happening the same way all over America, Dimwits, all over America. Women who watched the emasculation of Hillary Clinton, and the total dissing of former President Bill Clinton, by the Democratic Party, now have a way to ‘fight back’, and it is by voting McCain/Palin.
Oblahma was expecting a 10 point ‘bump’ in the pols from the convention. He got 4. And this was before McCain announced Palin. His wad is shot. Buh bye.
You tools of the left know it, and it will eat away at your bellies like battery acid until the election. The Messiah has been upstaged, and he’ll be pi$$ed. The mud has just begun from the left!

I predicted that the media would trumpet Obama’s selection with a bunch of partisan puffery and that this same media would instantly start bashing McCain’s pick. What do I get for calling that?
Here is another bold prediction, after fawning over every single speech at the DNC, the media will criticize every single speech made at the RNC.
Just call me Kreskin.

And it going to show America what a fantasy world that the democrat owned media lives in.

As Jay corroborated I was wrong on both my picks. Both Obama’s and McCain’s picks surprised me. I was surprised that Obama picked the same old, same old and that McCain didn’t.
Jay do you have something special planned for us for Labor Day like you did on the Fourth of July? How bout a “what Labor Day means to you” essay contest or something. Maybe that would get us one day of blogging without the words, Obama, McCain, Democrat, Republican, Lefty, Righty, wingnut, koolaid drinker, etc.
Also you and Jim Wooten may be in big trouble for wagering. The State of Georgia only wants you to wager if you give the money to them.

When Democrats lose they are always whining about the polling data saying they should have so therefor the election had to have been stolen.
I can just see TW blubbering about how the election had to have been stolen this time because the favorite in Vegas didn’t win.

RW,
Glad to see you didn’t jump off a bridge - I have to say I don’t follow your predictions as much, but are we to think now:
a) Palin gets Hillary voters
b) Palin gets ANY dem voters (definitely not)
c) I’ll give McCain the fact that the dems can’t criticize Palin less they criticize Obama
d) WTF?
And e) I wouldn’t want you to jump off a bridge -
and
f) - just how are the Republican party going to “introduce” and I do mean “introduce” her.

As a Democrat, I love, love, love McCain’s VP pick of Sarah Palin. These are her credentials:
She was the mayor of a town of 9,000 people. That’s not even half the size of most school districts. It’s barely a town. She was the mayor of a strip mall.
Then for two years she was the governor of the state with the 4th smallest population in the U.S., with less than 700,000 people. That’s barely a state. 16 U.S cities have more people than Alaska. By comparison, the metro area of Atlanta has nearly 6,000,000 people.
Republicans gripe about Obama not having enough experience. Chicago has 2,800,000 people. Illinois has 12,000,000 people. Why am I quoting population numbers? There’s a huge difference in dealing with the dynamics of massive states like Illinois and small ‘towns’ like Alaska. In larger cities and states you have vast differences in ethnicity, economic status, huge public education systems, police forces, etc. Experience on that level is good preparation for the national level. Being the mayor of a town of 9,000 and the governor of a state of 700,000 for two years is not.
And then we have the kicker: Palin is currently under investigation for abuse of power, which is corruption. A pundit gleefully mentioned tonight that this was her “only” scandal in her two years in office.
This speaks the most about whether she’s ready to be a heartbeat away from the presidency. She believes that it is appropriate to run government by using her authority to call in favors pertaining to personal vendettas. When the public safety commissioner in Alaska refused to fire her ex-brother in law, who was a state trooper, she fired the commissioner. If there was evidence that her brother in law had done something unlawful or unethical, there are review boards and hearings available. There is a systematic process to terminate officers.
But Palin used her power as if she was a mafia boss, calling in a hit. To her, that was the right way to do things in her “official” capacity. Does this show her preparedness to be president? Really?
And what does it say about McCain that he chose her? Only a man who was completely out of touch with reality would pick someone of her stature, in her predicament, to be vice president. And McCain has repeatedly shown the symptoms of memory loss and senility.
At this point I am really not worried that McCain will be elected. He won’t be. But if by some strange twist of circumstances he was, this country would need to be prepared for incompetence on a scale equal to what we have had for the last 8 years. It is truly bizarre.
Thank you, John McCain. With every decision you show us the depth of your “judgment”, or better yet, lack of.

Bosch,
Palin is the only one of the four with executive experience. She’s a fighter with conservative values and she’s not afraid to stand up to corruption in her own party. She’s also a budget hawk.
It won’t really be as much introducing her as energizing the conservative base. When the experience debate is held she’s the VP candidate, while the one with little experience on the other side is on the top of the ticket.
After 8 years as VP she’ll run for President with a Michael Steele type, but younger, black conservative, win and serve 8 more years. Her VP will then win the Presidency, probably with an Hispanic VP, and we’ll be able to put identity politics to bed with Democrats never electing anything but white guys.
Jay will be in a retirement home by then, but he’ll still be holding me to that last paragraph. Anyway I left you a message downstairs letting you know there was no bridge jumping, other than for joy and thanks for caring. Lots of your buds would have pushed.

Jay,
You have no idea what kind of maniac just descended on your blog at 10:49. I know you don’t put much stock in what I say, but you really should keep an eye open on that one.
TW,
I miss the old Republican Party too and I’m afraid the path back isn’t going to be easy. Palin is one way, but electing Obama is probably a quicker way. The only problem is that Obama would be such a disaster that these same Republicans we have now can get right back in. Basically I think we’re screwed, but I’ll hold out hope that we can fight our way back.

“After 8 years as VP she’ll run for President with a Michael Steele type, but younger, black conservative, win and serve 8 more years. Her VP will then win the Presidency, probably with an Hispanic VP, and we’ll be able to put identity politics to bed with Democrats never electing anything but white guys.”
LMAO. Silly, silly man. 28 straight years of Republican rule? Maybe it’s the age and the impotence setting in. You are divorced from reality, aren’t you?
But if I recall correctly, a couple years ago you swore that you would never, ever vote for McCain. Hmmm… I know that honesty is certainly not your strong point, but do you really plan to stay home on election day? Of course, it won’t matter. Obama will have over 50% of the vote and over 300 electoral votes. That’s the day the fantasy ends for you, Andi, Granny, Dusty, @@, and the rest of you 20 percenters. The dream is over. Wake up.

Sarah Palin is a bombshell choice. She looks like angela jolie with the brain of Margaret Thatcher. She’s from Alaska, so she’s adopted three snowflake babies so far. (sorry)
Conservatives should be grateful Obama didn’t pick a Woman. Cause if he had, then McCain would have had to pick a black man as a running mate.

Anybody a got butterfly net?
Palin has more executive experience than Obama Bin Biden put together, maybe we need to go over the duties of governor versus crackpot community organizer, no?
