For Hillary, a matter of maturity
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
“What Obama has to have Hillary do is stand up and say — not only in words but it’s got to be almost method acting — and say it in a way that’s believable — that she wants Barack Obama to be president,” said Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen. A classy backing “frankly goes toward any future political considerations she may have.”
I think that last point is critical. If Clinton delivers anything less than what Bredesen describes in tonight’s speech, she seriously harms not only Obama’s political future but her own as well, because memories will be long. Bill and Hillary Clinton have been intelligent, passionate and incredibly tenacious leaders both for the nation and for the Democratic Party, but when they have failed, they have failed because of a lack of maturity.
Tonight that maturity will be tested again. Stay tuned.
UPDATE: Hillary stepped up.
I have never thought much of her as a speaker, especially compared to her husband. Her strengths were elsewhere. But this was the best speech I think I’ve ever heard her deliver. The passion seemed real. Whatever the goals set for the speech, she met them and probably exceeded them.

Hillary will definitely play her part in the charade and Bill will tomorrow, but after the convention Hillary will play the part of nonstop campaigner and supporter while Bill and other surrogates will quietly undermine Obama and they’ll point the finger at McCain.

Just in case you haven’t been listening, this disenfranchisement of 18,000,000 voters has gone beyond the Hillary for President campaign.
It is now directed at the Democratic Party and their nominating process. They view it as corrupt. Too many opportunities for the party to control the outcome while ignoring the voter.
I’d be pithed too if I were One of ‘em.

Let us all listen to Cindy Freud soap box babbling to an empty blog:
By GodHatesTrash August 26, 2008 7:46 PM Now, calm down, my friends, calm down. All this consternation and upset because Mr. Bookman removed a cut and paste post from his blog?
Some psychiatrist you are, Nancy, overlooking the larger issues so that you can navel gaze over some personal squabbles, you know, minor things that are not out of your grasp.
I think it is a very relevant to the subject at hand to point out what happened to the last blog master that decided to take on the Duh Report, after years and years of screaming, hair pulling and sulking, your boy now mutters to himself while hiding underneath the desk in his cubicle.
Must we go through all that again?
On the very first day I appeared at this Bookman blog, I announced that this was the beginning of the end of it, which was more me trying to be obnoxious than me making any predictions, in fact, as I have stated before, I have actually come to somewhat respect Bookman’s opinion, an admittion that should not be taken lightly, as I’m sure some part of Hell is now experiencing global cooling.
Bottom line; I do nothing different from what anybody else does on this blog, every single one of you are long winded, I do not even come close to scoring the most words per day.
So what.
What the real difference is: I’m right and you do not like it.
If I was an as-s or a fool, why would you not let me post unhindered so that I discredit Conservatives, i.e. have you ever seen me ask to have one of I r o Dim’s posts removed?
When you whine about me, I win.

Another insult from Chuck Schumer. In an encounter with Bill O’Reilly, Schumer said:
“All these people here….these are delegates…..they’re solidly behind OBlahMa.”
“Those 20/25% of Hillary supporters…..voters…..out there in the public…..they don’t know……they don’t follow politics. They’ll grow to love Barack OBlahMa over time.”

Limbaugh is going to save the Republicans all by himself but remember who it was that raised this question first:
This party is a bunch of fools, and it is a party who led by a bunch of fools. And it is typified by people who think that they are loved, adored, and idolized by the American people. They lie to themselves pathologically and have themselves convinced that all Americans agree with them; that all Americans hate Bush; that all Americans to want lose the Iraq war; that all Americans want to lose the war on terror; that all Americans think that all we do is torture and rape and murder innocent terrorist suspects. And that’s not the United States of America. They want it to be the United States of America, but they are unable to pull it off because of the basic goodness and decency of the American people.
Even I — and I have full armor protecting myself from the Drive-By Media, the Drive-By Media BS bounces right off of me — but over the passage of time and months, even I, ladies and gentlemen, sometimes am affected by the never-ending onslaught. And so, I will be honest and admit to you that in recent months, I have thought that we are going to get skunked, for a host of reasons. A, they got a candidate who can successfully get away with saying nothing better than I’ve ever heard anybody say nothing. They’ve got the media promulgating this guy’s nothingness as though it’s substantive.
And then I look at our side, jeez. I look to the heavens and I say, “Dear Lord, we have such an opportunity. This could be a landslide of Reagan proportions.
I see no less than the Senate.

DANGEROUS DEMAGOGUERETTE
A demagogue is defined as “someone who gains power and popularity by arousing the emotions, passions and prejudices of the people”. I already have a multitude of reasons why I would never vote for Hillary Clinton including her stance on the rights of unborn children, her disdain for the U.S. military and her socialist touch on every program or policy she proposes. However, if for no other reason, her unbridled demogoguery at the end of the 2000 Presidential election showed me just how far she would go in a disingenuous and even dangerous effort to gain popular support.
President Bush lost the popular vote but won the electoral vote and thus the election; the U.S. Supreme Court solidifying his victory with a narrow 5 to 4 ruling. Then Mrs. Clinton, a Yale Law School graduate who knew better, angrily insinuated to the American masses that Vice President Gore had been robbed of the election since he won the popular vote. She even stated that one of her first acts as a U.S. Senator would be to propose legislation eliminating the electoral college (she thankfully failed in that attempt). I guess she felt she possessed more wisdom than James Madison and our other founding fathers.
Unfortunately, the great majority of American voters are totally ignorant of the purpose of the electoral college and the incredible history of how this country was founded. Hillary used this sad ignorance to appeal to the public’s fears and to incite them during a time of Constitutional crisis when Florida’s electoral votes were still in doubt and the rule of law and calm needed to be promoted. She knew full well the electoral college was instituted to protect the influence of the smaller states, that those states would never have signed the Constitution without it and that it prevents one region of the country from dominating others in being able to choose a President. It forces a Presidential candidate to appeal to the nation as a whole as opposed to just densely populated areas. In effect, it attempts to bring us together as a nation rather than dividing us as a direct popular vote would.
This is the United STATES of America not the United PEOPLE of America; it is thankfully a constitutional republic and not a pure reactionary democracy and there’s a big difference. Our present “electoral system” allowing the States to have a proper and constitutional role in electing a President mitigates demagoguery. Hillary’s desire for a “popular vote” system would allow demagoguery to thrive. She showed me her true colors back then in her blatant effort to do anything in a quest for power and that reveals the naked soul of a dangerous demagoguerette.

Good Andi, good girl, my friend! Stamp your feet, call us names, it’s good to let the hurt out, my friend, let it go!
You’ve been stewing on how bad Mr. Bookman hurt you since your post at 7:27AM, it must have really shaken you up, my friend.
Perhaps it wasn’t fair of Mr. Bookman to remove your post, my friend, but life isn’t always fair, now is it?
So what’s this really about?
Let me throw out some observations, ideas, and see if they ring true for you - you don’t have to respond, just think about them…
Often, people that grow up in abusive households feel powerless when they are confronted with even the smallest setback, like Mr. Bookman removing your post (you have to admit, my friend, in the Grand Scheme of things, it’s a small matter). Then they over-react by lashing out in rage and/or ridicule, and abuse and violence.
Look at your sour attitude all day today since Mr. Bookman removed your post - many many very hateful and derisive comments today about Mrs. Clinton - whom you regularly call Bruno - and Senator Obama. You have a chip on your shoulder, no doubt about it .
Hillary Clinton is a woman, why do you call her Bruno? What about her do you find so threatening, my friend? Who in your life does Hillary represent to you? Who/what are you projecting on to Hillary? Just think about it, you don’t need to answer.
Often, people who grow up in abusive households have sexual identity issues, my friend, and identity issues in general. I’m not naming names, but people who use multiple IDs and go to the trouble of establishing multiple internet accounts merely to post repetitive, derisive and abusive comments on a blog are exhibiting symptoms of multiple personality disorder, which is a serious psychological disorder invariably linked to abusive upbringings - unfortunately, these people almost always end up abusing strangers, friends, and saddest of all, family.
Anyhow, goodnight. I know that this is not good timing for you since you could benefit by continuing our dialog, but I’m out of town for a couple of days, my friend.
(Let’s all acknowledge Andi for finally having the courage to speak up in group. Courage is a huge issue for her, and while what she did tonight might not seem like much, it was excruciatingly difficult for her to join in today. While it may seem like a small thing to most of us, for her it was huge leap, my friends.)
(Mr. Bookman, go easy on her, please. This has been a tough day for her.)

Dang! Some columnist over in the U.K. said Michelle’s speech was “schmaltzy”?
What’s “schmaltzy” — anyone here speak english?
Said Europeans viewed it as a curiosity — wondering why candidates’ wives gave speeches. Did they not have their women’s movement over there? Anyhoo….
in Poland
One Polish news program did do a cursory few bits of the speech — but then cut to a commentator who explained why one of the potential contenders in the next Polish presidential election (two years from now) is going to try to fashion himself as Poland”s “McCain,” as opposed to his potential opponent’s “Obama.” The metaphor got very complicated, but more or less the idea is that McCain is a tough guy and Obama, while superficially more appealing, is at base nothing more than a media creation.
I guess not all Europeans are lacking.

My apologies to you (and I did enjoy reading your piece) but I was using the length to make a larger point. I didn’t see you on the earlier thread, but the point was that Jay just decided to show off his power as host to rip down a post that he deemed to be too long and then tried to lie about it saying it was merely pastes from other blogs with no original thought.
