Oh my, has it come to this?

Matt Towery over at Insider Advantage claims that, well, I’ll let him say it:

“(Sonny) Perdue, according to strong national sources, has risen to the top four in the veepstakes” to run with John McCain.

Why? First, Perdue has strong approval ratings in his home state. Second, his home state is now in play and could, in a perfect storm, become the decision-maker of 2008. Third, former Sen. Sam Nunn, according to both Time and Newsweek, is an eye-blink away from being the Democratic nominee for VP. But Perdue’s name identification and popularity as a current Governor would easily eclipse that of Nunn.”

I’ll leave any comments to the rest of you. There’s not much sport in this one. It’s like hunting over a baited field, fishing in chummed waters, trolling for senators in airport men’s rooms…. not much challenge to it, in other words.

Dude, this was on the radio at 6:30 this morning. Has the NYT ticker been on the fritz all day at the AJC. It was similarly opined by the radio hack reporting it.

So your right about not much challenge. Obama should try the same with Cynthia McKinney.

The “Repugs” are still struggling to wake up from the damage this administration has done to them. Purdue actually will fit that mold for veep because like McCain he’s also been “bushwacked” for a long time.

I’m all right. I read your post earlier while I was drinking some tea and I spewed it out all over my monitor and dropped my glass and it hit the dog and he yelped and ran out from under my feet and knocked me back in my chair. Then, I hit my leg on the desk and that caused a reflex kick whereby I knocked by computer over and it yanked the power cord partially loose from the socket just far enough for the cat to stick its tail across the partially exposed terminals and trip the breaker. The resulting power outage forced me to seek out assistance in the form of manual labor to clean up the mess, reset the breaker, pull the cat down from the curtains, and coax the dog from under the bed. I hope you believe me for that’s exactly how it happened. It’s the truth.

Mr. Bookman

Are you suggesting that Obama has a CHANCE to win this state in 2008! You and all your fantasy land lib’s are delusional….. Mark this on your calendar! Obama will LOSE in this state, and will LOSE by a landslide in the overall election. These current poles are MEANINGLESS attempts for the media to hype their candidate… Rockstar Obama, the biggest NOTHING that politics has ever produced. This country still has enough rational thinking people that see right through this HORSE CRAP!

Why not? Despite the lefty freakouts on this blog, he is probably the most popular Gov. in the South if not the nation. He led the GOP from nothing to controlling state government, served as a hugely successful chairman of the Republican Governor’s Association and has no possibility of a personal peccadillo popping up. McCain may need a southerner.

McCain made a speech just yesterday that confirms he will indeed pick Sonny Perdue as his running mate.

It seems Sonny had reservations about joining McCain on the Republican ticket because of McCain’s involvement in the sinful alcohol business. McCain though made it very clear to Sonny that he will change his ways in his speech. Sonny was pleased and has accepted the offer.

“I will veto every single beer,” McCain promised.

Perdue is still a consideration? I can’t believe McCain is that stupid, but then again, he does and says a lot of stupid things. The really sad thing is that if Perdue gets the nod, Casey Cagle, the doofus of all doofi, would become governor. That points to an even sadder future for GA than Perdue as governor.

Off topic, but possibly a story tip for Jay.

ABC decided to ask the military about Obama’s 16 month plan. Did Obama ever consider getting our equipment out?

In the kind of redeployment that Anderson is talking about, the troops head home, but much of their equipment stays behind. Two combat brigades means up to 1,200 humvees in addition to thousands of other pieces of equipment, like trucks, fuelers, tankers and helicopters.

And 90 percent of the equipment would have to be moved by ground through the Iraqi war zone, to the port in Kuwait, where it must all be cleaned and inspected and prepared for shipment. This is a place with frequent dust storms, limited port facilities and limited numbers of wash racks.

In other words, Obama’s withdrawal plan won’t work unless we leave our heavy equipment behind.

Nothing like equipping whatever enemy decides to fill the vacuum that is left behind. Have I mentioned that Obama is a dunce?

By Abomi Nation

There are a lot of reasons Perdue won’t be picked.

Georgia loves George W Bush, many in this state still think he is a great President. Bush openly campaigned for Perdue during Sonny’s re-election campaign.

What would happen if someone held up a “McCain = Bush” sign at a campaign event here in Georgia? Or maybe a “Perdue = Bush” sign? That kind of criminal act has gotten people arrested. Are Georgians prepared to go to jail for supporting their President and Governor?

How will the people of Georgia react when they find out that President Bush will not be able come within 20 miles of Perdue? Perdue will no longer be able to be seen in public with Bush.

In Georgia “Bush = McCain” is a good thing.

You are allowed to meet McCain at our airport carrying a gun, just be prepared to go to jail if you carry a “McCain = Bush sign.”

Oh the humanity!

Obama is a post turtle.

When you drive down a country road and you see a turtle sitting way up there on top of a post you first wonder how he got up so high. Then you wonder how frightened he is just to be that high. What’s all the fuss about. Look, we have governmental rules and regulations that have to be followed because well that’s what we pay governments to do. One of those rules is that we shall have a vice-presidential seat and the problem is that the seat is going to be vacated pretty soon. So, we need a new seat to fill the seat. Given that the last seat was a pretty big seat, a pretty big seat is needed to re-fill the soon-to-be vacated seat. But, that seat re-filling also has the potential to start a domino effect. If Sonny is chosen, then his governor’s seat will be vacated and it will need filling by an appropriately sized seat. Obviously, Cagle’s seat comes to mind when considering the seat that needs to be re-filled at the State’s top seat. Besides, he’s probably looking forward to a bigger seat to be seated in than that provided by a high-tech titanium bicycle seat.

I don’t think this thing is so bad. What has Sonny done as Governor? Basically nothing. What does a Vice President do? Basically nothing. Sounds like a perfect fit for me or maybe the Peter Principle taken to its apex. That will leave the Governor’s chair for Mr. Banker Casey Cagle. He can look out for the bankers like he did when he was in the legislature. None of this matters cause Obama isn’t gonna win Georgia anyway.

And by the way I’m not a liberal. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. (Apologies to Jerry Seinfeld).
