Obama and the ‘Black House?’
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Georgia’s national reputation took a hit with all of those stories about the T-shirts likening Barack Obama to a banana-eating “Curious George.” But never fear, Texas has our back, as The Dallas Morning News reports.
Further reporting here.
Strange how nobody actually attending the convention thought it noteworthy, yet party officials now claim to be properly offended.
UPDATE: Let’s try a little thought experiment. Imagine that, say, Colin Powell or Condi Rice had been nominated as the Republican candidate. Could you then imagine that such a button would be sold at Democratic state conventions? No, you could not. And therein lies the difference.

I’m sure it was a Democrat operative that made them to create a “racist” stunt.
I’m sure my bro Jay is as equally offended when he sees the “F” the president signs, or the “village idiot from Texas” bumper stickers. But wait, I don’t remember him blogging about those, do you?
And why the uproar about Curious George—-I think him to be quite cute, loyal, and funny. My kid loves that show, what gives?

From Scholastic.com:
At various times in history, the White House has been known as the “President’s Palace,” the “President’s House,” and the “Executive Mansion.” President Theodore Roosevelt officially gave the White House its current name in 1901.
I didn’t notice why Roosevelt chose “White House” as the name but could it have been because of the color? If Obama wins, he should definitely paint the place black and have the Stones playing “Paint it, Black” live on the front lawn. How fitting.

Thanks for the update Jay—my long lost brother. Are you insinuating that the SAME Clinton DEMOCRATIC operatives that sent whispering rumors of Obama being a Muslim, sending out pictures of him wearing Muslim garb, and using drugs would DARE NOT make similar badges if Rice or Powell were the candidates for the Repubs? You mean the same democrats that call Rice Bush’s personal black ‘ho and Powell a bluthering Uncle Tom? You mean THOSE same Democrats wouldn’t do such a thing. PUH-leese…..

Well, golly gee, Bookman’s all upset about an ugly pin that nobody would even know about if he and his liberal newspaper friends did not broadcast this horrible vengeful incident…a bad pin. BUT…
For years I have observed ugly discriminating caricatures of President Bush as drawn by Bookman’s liberal AJC buddy Luckovich. Not only was the President ridiculed but there were drawings of US soldiers being roasted on a spit like barbeque. This ridicule went out with every AJC print edition and on ajc.com.
Did we hear any sobs and shouts of objection from Bookman about the nasty ol’ libs? NOT A ONE. His delicate nature was not offended one bit. It would seem that Bookman is offended only by Republican “trash”. Liberals can pile up the “trash” and Bookman never even notices. Oh well, what’s new??? Not Bookman for sure.

Spare us your incessant hypocrisy Jay and read the hate speech coming from the left. Go to Daily Kos or the AJC blogs and see the constant agist attacks against McCain and ant-Christian cracks.
Of course, you never criticize liberal hate speech. As a matter of fact, based on your post, one would come to the conclusion that you think only Republicans are bigots. As ususal, your dogmatic partisanship has led you to the laughbable conclusions that those who don’t share your narrow views are immoral. Hence, you are no different than Sean Hannity.
Why don’t you shock us for once and post something that isn’t hyper-partisan. I don’t think you are capable.

I think that President Bush should tell ours soldiers exactly what he means if he invites them to a barbecue or offers them a deal on a house or other such thing. After all, if you are going to volunteer for something, then you ought to know exactly what it is that you are volunteering for — even if you are not educated enough to figure it out for yourself.

Oh Dusty, Please get a reality check.
I know you are the world’s biggest Fox news addict. You have to have seen the sexist remarks about Hilliary. You could not have missed the references to Muslims, terrorists fist-bumping ect about Obama.
I believe ALL presidents have been characterized by any one who draws cartoons, thus the name cartoon. I am sure you have taken your home-schooled brood down to Disney World and had them drawn by a cartoonist. You know, the one who drew you in your Hawaii Moo Moo with a huge mouth and ears?

Dusty, of course you are never going to hear Bookman object to the ‘F—- Bush’ bumperstickers, or caricatures of Bush having a head that looks like a Volkswagon with the doors open! Where do you think stuff like that comes from? It is the typical liberal way, to laugh and joke and curse (or worse) anyone that disagrees with them, but folding instantly into the victim mode when the same tactics are used against them. Think back to your childhood days, when some kid in the playground tried to bully the others, but when other children fought back, the bully went crying and screaming to the teacher. The left was deeply psychologically scarred by the loss to Bush TWICE, thinking there was no way in hell their superior intelligence, and Presidential candidates, could be rejected by Americans TWICE (did I say TWICE twice?). They, like the elephants they despise, have long memories, but their venomous attacks for the last eight years has poisoned and rotted their souls.
Jay Bookman has supped long at the liberal table, and drunk so deep the Kool Aid of the Democratic Party that the fluid pumps furiously through his veins. He is no reporter, just a puppet of the DNC. If you read his drivel like I do, you will notice absolutely no original thought expressed, just the same tired old crap from the left. The media types like Jay have allowed themselves to be hollowed out echoes for Howard Dean, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi. Notice that I did not mention Bill Clinton? He is now longer in power, therefore they are no longer FOB’s. Like a good hound dog sniffing a trail, Jay and the Media (hey, that’s a good sounding rock band name!) have their noses far up the south side of the north bound Donkeys of Dem.
The vast majority of African Americans, who claim they opposed slavery, have enslaved themselves to the Democratic party. Almost fifty years and trillions of dollars in welfare and other governmental giveaways have molded them a lot into the culture they are today. Yet, they continue to tie their future to the Democrats, who have done absolutely nothing to really help them climb the societal ladder towards personal success. So too has much of the print media tied themselves to the Dems, but for much less in return. Maybe we’ll be on the short list for Obama’s first White House party after we help get him elected is their prayer. Or, Maybe we’ll get all front row seats for White House press conferences is just as likely. Like most Dems, they just want a crumb thrown their way. Jay still has a tux in the closet, waiting for that invite.

Jay -
Does “GodHatesTrash’s” comments deserve condemnation from you? Of course not, because it isn’t the hatred or intolerance that bothers you, it is just your own intolerance for other viewpoints.
That aside, do you hold “Democrats” responsible for the low-minded hate speech of some of their members, like “GodHatesTrash”? Of course not.

I like this approach. Get the emotions all stirred up early in the year. Now is this tactic intended to get out the vote for the primary or maybe it’s intended to burn out some of the hate and venom in people before the general election. Hmmmm. I wonder just what strategies are in the working and by whom. I mean Carville and Rove are both has-beens but they most certainly have viable replacements in the two main encampments. I don’t know but anyone on the outside looking in ought to be amused.

They’ve been getting their racist propaganda pins and crap all along from their local Stormfront unit, SCV local, League of the South chapter, Conservative Citizen Council meetings, Dent Myers, or their favorite Southern Baptist church. That’s only if they stopped attending their KKK meetings because their sheets were dirty, or they got too fat for king-size sheets.

I think the world is long overdue for another lovefest. We need to abandon the ways of the corn and the fossilized remains and plant cannabis instead. These plants should then be harvested and burned as fuel all over the world. Everyone should drive large pickup trucks with the beds filled with potting soil for their fuel crop. There will no longer be a need for re-fueling stations — just pick a plant from the back and burn it as needed. Just remember to save the seeds. In no time at all, wars will cease. The claim, “But I didn’t inhale”, will have no meaning. Axes of evil will transform into Love Triangles. President Bush will invite the Kennedy, Clinton, and Gore clans to Texas for the Biggest Dang Barbecue You Ever Did See In Yore Life. Yessireee. Of course, John McCain will spoil the festivities by offering to invite Obama to the White House to eat crow after he wins in November. The nerve. Some people just don’t know how to have a good time.

Do people really wake up each and every morning with so much hate and venom? Have we really gone that far that the only way we can talk with one another is to scream the most vicious speech possible at someone because they disagree with this opinion or that opinion, or is it the anonymity of the Internet that let’s our worst side run free. Somethings are just wrong, no matter who says them. This is an example of one of those times and yes there are plenty examples when those on the left cross the line as well. I know that Clinton and Bush are not the only ones to blame, but our country seems to have lost a common decency… a level of civility of the past 15 years that is really sad.

In my experience, you don’t have to pay Republicans to be racist and ignorant. Some kinda tend to gravitate that way without much pushing. (Not all, of course, but enough to be an embarrassment to those who pay lip service to attracting African Americans to vote Republican, anyway.)

Yes, I can imagine a similar button being sold if it was black republican. Why? Because this is America and if someone believes there is a chance to make money then they will make it and sell it.
The first thing I thought of when I saw the button was Parliament, George Clinton, and PFunk. The song Chocolate City opens with: “uh, What’s happening CC?, They still call it the White House but that is a temporary condition, too…”
Didn’t realize Republicans listened to Parliament. Now where is my greatest hits CD….

I appreciate you recognizing the mindless hatred of “GodHatesTrash”. The concern I have is that it seems that you believe his hatred is anomalous to liberals, while the hate speech you point out is consistant with conservative thought.
It would be nice if the partisans of the world just acknowledged that there are plenty of hateful and tolerant, informed and ignorant, intelligent and less intelligent people on both sides instead of constantly looking for evidence that those who don’t share their views are inherently hateful, ignorant and less intelligent. Which by the way, seems to be the intent of today’s post.

If you don’t see the constant hate speech at Daily Kos as what it is then you have your own problems.
After a quick Google search on Kos Cheney assasination, I noticed the Kos did a fine job of cleaning up quotes to enable folks like you to claim such things have not been said.
Some conservative bloggers saved some choice bits however:
“At First I thought A Patriot General Attacked (2+ / 1-) Cheney. I mean, I thought that maybe it wasn’t a terrorist after all. Maybe it was one of those Generals who threatened to resign if the Cheney administration attacked Iran.
My first thought was too bad he missed.”
You can read the rest of this hateful rant here:
http://thunderrun.blogspot.com/2007/02/daily-kos-quote-of-day.html
Do we still have to “shut up”? More importantly, are you so rude and obnoxious to people’s faces? Or do you suddenly get aggressive when hiding behind the veil of anonymity?

Mr. Bookman:
I have an idea. Why not rent out Phillips Arena, take all the people in here who are constantly degrading each other (not differences of opinion but personal attacks), have a no holds barred, no disqualification cage match. The money could go to some non-idealogical charity, say Shriner’s Hospital or something like that. I for one would pay to see this although I bet most of them would just stand there and look at each other and there would be very little action.

Seems everyone is talking around the topic than to the topic. Why will not the topic be addressed? Is folks to scared of their on racism to wonder if the DNC would slander Rice and Powell? Better yet, if Powell comes out and supports Obama, I guess everyone would say he is voting for Obama just because they are both black, instead of looking at the issues Powell then is supporting
