No horse’s head for Hillary

UPDATED:

For a while there, I worried what it would take to get the message through to Hillary Clinton — maybe something like that scene out of “The Godfather,” when the movie director wakes up with a horse’s head in his bed?

Certainly, more subtle forms of communication didn’t seem to be getting through. On Tuesday night, the last night of the primary process and with the race settled, she yet again passed up the opportunity to acknowledge the reality of Barack Obama’s victory.

With that decision, the prospect of another 1980 loomed. That year, after Jimmy Carter defeated Ted Kennedy for the nomination, Kennedy ducked and dodged Carter on the stage of the convention, refusing on national TV to perform the healing ritual of a handshake. To this day, Carter attributes his subsequent defeat to Kennedy’s pettiness.

This time, however, party leaders intervened, insisting on Clinton’s withdrawal and clearing the way for the next step in the process, the selection of a vice presidential candidate. And even though Clinton has reportedly expressed interest in the post, she has given Obama every reason to be leery.

A vice presidential candidate has to be comfortable in the role of second banana, willing to set aside her own political identity and pledge enthusiastic loyalty to the policies and person of the presidential nominee. And little in Clinton’s handling of this race suggests she would be comfortable in that role.

However, if her interest is genuine, the best way she can prove it is to submit herself to the traditional selection process, just like any other potential candidate. Some might argue that she has earned the right to forego what amounts to an audition, but the position of vice president is that of the understudy, not the star. If the position is not beneath her, the process should not be beneath her either.

For Democrats, the continuing drama at the top of their ticket has no doubt been frustrating, because there’s the aroma of real opportunity in the air.

In a recent poll of 45 Republican-held congressional districts around the country — GOP districts that George Bush carried by an average of 12 points in 2004 — voters favored Democrats over the Republican incumbents by an average margin of 50 percent to 43 percent. That suggests the Democrats may be poised to pick up a lot of seats in Congress this year.

“The Republican brand is deeply hurt, and Republican incumbents face a serious challenge to hold onto their seats in an election driven by change,” the Democracy Corps pollsters concluded.

That finding should be taken with a grain of salt, since Democracy Corps is led by longtime Democrats James Carville and Stanley Greenberg. But Republicans are reaching similar conclusions on their own.

In an unsigned editorial, editors of the conservative National Review label Obama “arguably the most left-wing major party presidential nominee ever.” However, they also acknowledge the Republican Party’s unpopularity and Obama’s “formidable personal talents.”

“If he wins with the kind of larger Democratic majorities he is likely to see in the House and Senate, he will be in the strongest position of any Democratic president since LBJ in 1964,” the editorial notes. “ … Obama will be in a position to deal conservatism some of its worst setbacks in 40 years.”

I disagree with that last point. History will note that the worst setbacks to modern conservatism have been dealt from within the movement, most prominently by George W. Bush and Karl Rove. The way things are setting up, Rove will likely be remembered as the architect of a permanent Democratic majority, a delicious irony he will not appreciate.

Rove’s fate demonstrates an old truism: In politics, the worst damage to your cause is always self-inflicted, and your enemies can do you less harm than your friends. In the next few weeks, we’ll see whether the Democrats have taken that lesson to heart.

Now that Rezko has been convicted, both Obama and Blagojevich will VERY SOON be indicted under 18 USC 1346, which is the section under which Rezko was found guilty.

FOR YOUR READERS:

Evelyn Pringle has just completed her series on Obama at opednews.com. You should review the articles, and then review the discussion of 18 USC 1346 provided, in order to see for what activities Obama will be indicted:

Final Chapter - Curtain Time for Barack Obama Evelyn Pringle 05/22/2008 2 Curtain Time for Barack Obama - Part V Evelyn Pringle 05/18/2008 9 Curtain Time for Barack Obama - Part IV Evelyn Pringle 05/16/2008 22 Curtain Time for Barack Obama - Part III Evelyn Pringle 05/15/2008 11 Curtain Time for Barack Obama - Part II Evelyn Pringle 05/13/2008 15 Curtain Time For Barack Obama - Part I Evelyn Pringle 05/12/2008 33

THEN, your readers should study this EXCELLENT discussion of 18 USC 1346 from:

http://www.groom.com/_library/downloads/NAPPAArticle-Feb2006.pdf.

This article provides brief guidance as to the manner in which courts have interpreted 18 U.S.C. § 1346, which generally provides that for purposes of federal mail and wire fraud statutes (18 U.S.C. §§ 1341 and 1343, respectively), a “scheme or artifice to defraud” includes a “scheme or artifice to deprive another of the intangible right to honest services.” Specifically, this article examines the manner in which courts have interpreted the broad language of § 1346 in circumstances that do not involve the explicit bribery of public officials. I. Background 18 U.S.C. § 1346 was enacted in 1988, for purposes of reversing the Supreme Court’s decision in McNally v. U.S.,483 U.S. 350 (1987). In McNally, the Supreme Court overruled a long line of lower court decisions by holding that the federal mail and wire fraud statutes did not encompass schemes to defraud citizens of an intangible right to honest government service from pubic officers. Id. at 355. By enacting 18 U.S.C. § 1346, Congress restored “honest services” within the ambit of the federal mail and wire fraud statutes, meaning that a scheme to deprive the public of “honest services” by a public official could be punished as mail or wire fraud (assuming, of course, that such an instrumentality was used as part of the scheme or artifice). II. Judicial Interpretations of the “Honest Services” Fraud A. General Parameters of the Statute Not surprisingly, the majority of cases that have analyzed the “honest services” fraud set forth in 18 U.S.C. § 1346 have involved the bribery of public officials, where the charge under § 1346 is in addition to other charges. However, there have been numerous prosecutions under § 1346 against public officials (and those who have corrupted public officials) for transactions that do not involve outright bribery, but which nonetheless involve the provision of cash or gifts to a public official in exchange for the public official’s exercise of power on behalf of the individual or entity providing the gratuity. Courts have recognized that the term “honest services,” as used in § 1346, is incredibly broad, but the statute has survived repeated challenges asserting that it is unconstitutionally vague, with courts resorting to a “common sense” usage of the phrase “honest services.” In rejecting a constitutional void-for-vagueness challenge to the statute’s wording, one court opined that “[c]oncrete parameters outlining the duty of honest services should not be necessary… . The concept of the duty of honest services sufficiently conveys warning of the proscribed conduct when measured in terms of common understanding and practice.” U.S. v. ReBrook, 837 F. Supp. 162, 171 (S.D. W. Va. 1993), aff’d. 58 F.3d 961 (4 th Cir. 1995). Another court demonstrated little patience for the defendant’s void-for-vagueness challenge in the context of a kickback scheme, holding that “[i]t should be plain to ordinary people that offering and accepting large sums of money in exchange for a city councilman’s vote is a type of conduct proscribed by the language of § 1346.” U.S. v. Paradies, 98 F.3d 1266, 1283 (11 th Cir. 1996). Nonetheless, courts have refused to allow § 1346 to be used as a “catch-all” that subjects every unethical or illegal act to federal mail and wire fraud prosecution. See, e.g., U.S. v. Bloom, 149 F.3d 649, 654-56 (7 th Cir. 1998) (noting, inter alia, that “not every breach of fiduciary duty works a criminal fraud”); U.S. v. Welch, 327 F.3d 1081, 1107 (10 th Cir. 2003) (”the right to honest services is not violated by every breach of contract, breach of duty, conflict of interest, or misstatement made in the course of dealing”). Recognizing the difficulty of interpreting the undefined phrase “honest services,” courts have attempted to establish general criteria that must be satisfied to successfully assert an “honest services” fraud claim. One of the leading circuits interpreting the scope of the honest services fraud is the First Circuit Court of Appeals, which held that: First, … honest services convictions of public officials typically involve serious corruption, such as embezzlement of public funds, bribery of public officials, or the failure of public decision-makers to disclose conflicts of interest. Second, … the broad scope of the mail fraud statute … does not encompass every instance of official misconduct that results in the official’s personal gain. Third, and most importantly, … the government must not merely indicate wrongdoing by a public official, but must also demonstrate that the wrongdoing at issue is intended to prevent or call into question the proper or impartial performance of the public servant’s official duties. U.S. v. Czubinski, 106 F.3d 1069, 1076 (1 st Cir. 1997) (emphasis added) (internal citations and quotations omitted), (discussing the First Circuit’s prior decision in U.S. v. Sawyer, 85 F.3d 713, 724 (1996). The Seventh Circuit has held that “[m]isuse of office (more broadly, misuse of position) for private gain is the line that separates run of the mill violations of state law fiduciary duty … from federal crime.” U.S. v. Bloom, 149 F.3d 649, 655 (7 th Cir. 1998). The court went on to note that “in almost all of the intangible rights cases decided … (before McNally or since § 1346), the defendant used his office for private gain, as by accepting a bribe in exchange for official action[,]” but also noted that “[s]ecret conversion of information received in a fiduciary capacity is a form of fraud against the owner of that information.” Id. Accordingly, the Seventh Circuit summarized its test for an honest services fraud as follows: “[a]n employee deprives his employer of his honest services only if he misuses his position (or the information he obtained in it) for personal gain” (emphasis added). Id. at 656-57.

They come off like they would rejoice in the streets if some bad thing befell this man who have done nothig but play by the rules and been above the diviseness of politic as usual. I never thought too much about that remark Mrs. Clinton made until I saw her over the last 25hrs, I really do believe that she and Mrs. Pringle would be more than happy if something terrible did happen to Mr. Obama. Obama should get a member of the Black Panther party to be his VP. I feel his heart is way more in touch with anti white groups such as those. Twenty years of mentoring about the white devils and country slamming, certainly doesn’t put him in touch with mainstream working america.

Apparently, I.Q. is not a requirement to post a comment, because jharvard’s comments makes this point with an exclaimation mark. Here we are at one of the highest moments in modern history, and this idiot has to let his racism, or stupidity or possibly both, show an irony about this moment that is lost on many. Obama is of two races, and if you read or listen to any biographical information about him, you would know this, and understand that if he truly hated white people, that this would be a form of self-hatred. It has been my experience that people with high IQ’s don’t have to pronounce it, it’ll show if it’s valid. It is so easy to say you’d vote for Powell when you know he’ll never run, and he’ll never run because he knows a certain segment of the population would find all kinds of holes in his game, even if they have to embellish some perceived flaw. As for Condie Rice, she’s as pure as the driven snow right now, but let her try to reach too high, then she’d be just another gutter snipe.

A demagogue is defined as “someone who gains power and popularity by arousing the emotions, passions and prejudices of the people”. As we approach the (Democratic Convention/2008 election), I already have a multitude of reasons why I would never vote for Hillary Clinton including her stance on the rights of unborn children, her disdain for the U.S. military and her socialist touch on every program or policy she proposes. However, if for no other reason, her unbridled demogoguery at the end of the 2000 Presidential election showed me just how far she would go in a disingenuous and even dangerous effort to gain popular support. President Bush lost the popular vote but won the electoral vote and thus the election; the U.S. Supreme Court solidifying his victory with a narrow 5 to 4 ruling. Then Mrs. Clinton, a Yale Law School graduate who knew better, angrily insinuated to the American masses that Vice President Gore had been robbed of the election since he won the popular vote. She even stated that one of her first acts as a U.S. Senator would be to propose legislation eliminating the electoral college (she thankfully failed in that attempt). I guess she felt she possessed more wisdom than James Madison and our other founding fathers. Unfortunately, the great majority of American voters are totally ignorant of the purpose of the electoral college and the incredible history of how this country was founded. Hillary used this sad ignorance to appeal to the public’s fears and to incite them during a time of Constitutional crisis when Florida’s electoral votes were still in doubt and the rule of law and calm needed to be promoted. She knew full well the electoral college was instituted to protect the influence of the smaller states, that those states would never have signed the Constitution without it and that it prevents one region of the country from dominating others in being able to choose a President. It forces a Presidential candidate to appeal to the nation as a whole as opposed to just densely populated areas. In effect, it attempts to bring us together as a nation rather than dividing us as a direct popular vote would. This is the United STATES of America not the United PEOPLE of America; it is thankfully a constitutional republic and not a pure reactionary democracy and there’s a big difference. Our present “electoral system” allowing the States to have a proper and constitutional role in electing a President mitigates demagoguery. Hillary’s desire for a “popular vote” system would allow demagoguery to thrive. She showed me her true colors back then in her blatant effort to do anything in a quest for power and that reveals the naked soul of a dangerous demagoguerette.

Jharvard,

You are proof that Rev. Wright is correct in some of the things he said. You said that you just returned from 4 years in Iraq and would vote for Colin Powell. Well prepare to spend more time in Iraq if John McCain becomes president. Also, Colin Powell knew that Pres. Bush did not have cause to start a war with Iraq. Think about it, if Colin Powell cared so much about the military troups then he would have resigned before Pres. Bush was elected for the second term. No, he did what was Republican protocol. If the military minded people knew that Colin Powell was going to resign, they never would have voted for Bush again.

John Ryskamp,

Pringle says nothing. Also, why not post findings of the Keating Five where John and Cindy McCain should have went to prison along with the rest. Let’s not forget that John McCain had an affair with Cindy McCain while he was married to Carol McCain who was crippled because of a car accident. He divorced Carol McCain and married Cindy.

Please do not forget all of the Clintons’ problems with Whitewater, travel gate, stolen furniture from the White House and now the case with Mr. Paul.

I guess while we are at it, we need to look in yours and Pringle’s closet.

I guess you and jharvard feels that by association, then a person is guity. Well, I guess you will have to live in a bubble and not associate with anyone, because 20 and 30 years later, someone will blame you for it.

Stick to the policies and not the prejudices.

Why can I not observe that Obama is an empty, inexperienced suit without being labeled a racist? I am sure that if questions about Obama’s dubious asociations are raised, someone can dig deep enough and point a finger at McCain; heck, for that matter, my closet is not completely clean, if you dig deeply enough.

The problem with Obama is that he wants “change” but hasn’t shared a vision of what he wants to change to; my observations of him would suggest change to appeasement and socialism, but we are left to guess at this point. The Democrat talking point of “4 more years of Bush” is ridiculous, as his own party’s biggest concern about McCain was his refusal to toe the party line. He was not the choice of party insiders, which is a strength to me.

There is no doubt that Obama is articulate and persuasive, but the President has a serious impact on both lives and lifestyles. People had best look beyond charisma and seek substance; if you can’t find any, perhaps you should reconsider your choice.

Actually Bookman is wrong on a central point. The big blow to the conservative movement has been nearly 8 years of a dishonest journalist community that promotes the hard left, while ommitting anything that vindicates the GOP. Did the tax cuts work? Sure did, they accomplished what they promised. Gee, Saddam had no WMD? Then exactly what happened to the chemical munition stockpiles UN inspectors photographed before leaving that UNMOVIC Executive Director Dimitri Perricos states to this day are STILL missing? Why don’t people know that Russian Intelligence learned after 9/11 that Saddam had commissioned terror attacks on U.S. soil? C’mon Bookman—-you and your cadre are so dishonest I wonder how you guys look in the mirror! And THAT…the hyper-Neolib journalists, have passionately lied inorder to punish conservatives for Gore’s inability to steal the 2000 election. (What was the “outrageous” Supreme Court ruling? Oh, that the recount had to include all votes in all Florida districts—-not just additonal Dim votes in Dim districts….the media spun that story too!)

It is true and can’t be denied that there are MANY racist people in America. People who would switch parties to vote for McCain instead of backing Sen. Obama are some of those. Sen. Obama didn’t win because our country has come so far in race relations and overcome racism. He won because of the mess Bush has made of our country and NO ONE can afford to have another 4-8 years of this. Very few people I know of voted for Sen. Obama because he is Black. “Change” is the key word. He has run a CLEAN campaign which is not a word that usually goes side by side with Politics. He has taken the high road even when attacked from references about assassination, his name, his former pastor (guilty by assocition), his wife, and his unwillingness to just choose one group of people to represent. He represents all people, because we are ALL affected by the war in Iraq, the massive foreclosure rates (even if in trickle down), high gas prices, & massive job losses. It’s been a domino effect. If you haven’t had a loved one killed in Iraq or spent countless YEARS (it’s been 5 believe it or not, the time goes fast) that our brave men and women have been fighting over there, if your home hasn’t been foreclosed on or you’ve seen your neighbors belongings placed out on the street, or you’ve lost your job, then God Bless You…but, you are paying higher prices for food, and astronomical prices at the gas pump. Those who have children (especially those in high school) as my oldest graduates next year, have to be concerned about the war and a potential draft, unknown job security, the high cost of college (unless your independently wealthy), and if your mortgage rate will adjust to where you almost can’t afford it. Sen. Obama is a candidate for issues and he doesn’t have blinders on. Bush III (McCain) is about war and thinks those Americans (which is ALL of us) should suck it up and suffer for the sake of a greater cause in Iraq. I have to be more concerned about the immediate in not losing my home, my job, being able to feed my family, afford college for my children, etc. McCain makes those who are looking at the issues they have to deal with everyday as being unpatriotic and unwilling to suffer for the cause. WE ARE SUFFERING. We don’t have a rich wife and don’t have the luxury of not having to be concerned about money. We work for every dime and have to portion it out to try to cover the ever increasing costs of well, everything but our paycheck isn’t increasing at all! As far as Hillary, nothing would make me vote for McCain. If she becomes the V.P., so be it. This nightmare of our economy has to rebound and soon and color doesn’t play a part in that. If the nominee was plaid, that would be ok too if the candidate could help American families get back on track and not lose MORE of what they’ve worked so hard for which is simply to give their children a better life instead of going backwards!

…As far as Hillary being the V.P., yes, Obama should watch his back because she probably would try to undermine him. He doesn’t want her as V.P. and the only way she’d take it is if she thinks it will help her become President in 2012, BUT that’s too far off for me to be concerned about. I have to feed my family, pay my adjustable rate mortgage, put $4.00/gallon gas in my car, and try to keep a job. I don’t give a flip about Hillary at this point. I would NEVER vote for Bush III (McCain) whose war loving self will continue the war Bush started that got our economy in this mess. I do think that a good choice would be Sen. Edwards for V.P., but it’s Obama’s decision and I believe he’ll make a good choice. Somehow Hillary has been allowed to throw tantrums and control the Democratic party hostage to a certain degree. I just don’t get it! In the beginning, I gave her the benefit of the doubt and didn’t jump on the Obama bandwagon. I wanted to hear what she had to say and actually was a bit in defense of her due to Bill being the former President (I voted for him), but she opened her mouth and became her own worst enemy. Not conceding and still delaying makes her look bad and it makes those who think a woman should never be President have reason to debate the issue in Hillary’s poor choices. Although she makes the final call, she also didn’t have the best advisors and she underestimated that Obama could beat her by simply being honest. She thought being a former first lady, Bill being a former President, her 8 years in the Senate to Obama’s 4 would give her leverage. It could have, but she lowered herself and I’m very fair and think she’s an intelligent woman who made a lot of mistakes and allowed Bill to run her campaign in the ground.

I was out last weekend and a small group of people were registering people to vote. I went up to register. Noticed they were all wearing Obama stickers. I told them it was hard to walk up and register from them, not being an Obama supported. One of them asked what she could do to get to me change my mind. I asked her to give me one policy he would implement as part of his “change we can believe in”. She said, he isn’t Bush. I agreed, however he isn’t running and this isn’t a policy. Her next statement: He would make us more favorable in the eyes of the world. I don’t care about the rest of the world. What is he going to do for us here, in America. I’m still waiting to here from someone who supports Obama what he would do that will bring positive change to this country. BTW, more entitlement programs don’t count, and neither does Socialized Medicine.

Paul and Obama?Your Mama!

Your accusations of Sen. Obama being an empty suit and inexperience are false. Unless the president is an incumbent, then he/she does not have the experience of being a president.

Also, Sen. Obama spent 6 year as a Senator in the Illinois State and selected to the U.S. Senate in 2005. Log on to www.thomas.loc.gov website, you can see the bills that have been sponsored by each candidate. You will see that Sen. Obama have Sponsored over 100 bills and Cosponsored more bills in 2007 alone that benefits the whole country. McCain and Clinton mostly cosponsored bills and a great many of their bills benefitted their individual state. Ex. naming a library, a street, proclaiming somebody day.

Do you want a president that is looking out for the whole country or one that is pandering to his/her friends and contributors? The call is yours.

You also says that McCain does not toe the party line, well he has been in the Senate for many years and that was true long time ago. But, look at his voting record for the last few years. He voted along party lines. Also, now you do not know where he stands because he changes his stand according to his audience.

Like I say, the call is yours. You can do some research or continue to make false accusations. The call is yours.

Much of the animosity, hatered, name calling, and uglyness comes from republicans blogging as Democrates, voting for Hillary in Primaries, and now writting devisive newspaper editorials that repeat all of the above…. I know, because I am one…but this Republican WILL be voting for Obama in November, while the other infiltrators like old woodenhead fully intend to vote for McInsane (my friends, bomb Iran, bomb Iran, bomb Iran, thank you my friends, nap time). Why Obama: He is the best hope for rebalancing the income distribution (in the statistical sense, not the government hand out sense), stoping all the senseless foreign military entanglements, reducing the obscene amount of tax money going to fund the military-industrial complex, and putting an energy policy in place that has a chance of success….McInsane will only bomb Iran…..

Correction the website is http://thomas.loc.gov, which is the Library of Congress website.

Jeff, I advise you to go to the website and you will see the legislation that Sen. Obama has sponsored. To list a few: S115 - to suspend royalty relief and tax incentives for oil and gas industry in the Energy Policy Act of 2005. S674 - accountability of personnel performing private security for the government. S-713 - Ensure dignity in car for the Armed Forces recovering from injuries. S767 & S768 - fuel economy standards, S692, S823, S976, S1067 & S1068 all deals with Health Impact.S906 - prohibit the sale, distribuion, transfer and export of elemental mercury (stop nuclear weapons), S1181 - amend SEC Act of 1934 to provide shareholders on executive compensation. S1222 - stop mortgage transaction that promote fraud. There are several pieces of legislation on education, energy, health, military soldier care, policy on Iraq. Did you know that he also sponsored legilation to stop Pres. Bush from starting a war in Iran. Bush said the authorization to go to war with Iraq also gave him the authority to go into Iran. You might not like Iran, but so far Iran has done nothing to the U.S.

I hope the above is enough of Sen. Obama policies and where he stands.

I don’t care if you are white, black, red, or green, or male or female. If I think you can do the job, then you will get my vote. The issues I have with Obama are few, but major. One is his too far out in left field ideology and his curious relationships with radicals that he refuses to talk about. The main item is his LACK of experience. He hasn’t even been in the senate for 2 years! He is going to pick McCain apart with his voting record, something that Obama doesn’t have. I just can’t vote for a guy that the only thing I know about is he is calling for change (don’t know what to change to) and can give a quite pre-pared speech.

ABC has a Clinton staffer on the payroll. George Stephanopolis. NBC has a Carter staffer on their payroll in Chris Matthews. You want to talk about bias just look at ALL the liberal news networks. I think it’s retarded that you point out ONE news network over a sea of liberal networks. The only reason you want Obama Hussien to win is so you can further your muslim agenda on America. The platform of BHO is “change”. Other than pulling out of Iraq, what are the specific changes he/democrats want to put in place? Lots of talk about “change” but no specifics. Sounds like trying to hide the agenda until after it is too late or has no clue. “Baffle them with b.s.”. Do not vote for or against BHO because of his race, religion, youth, … Make him give specifics and then choose. BHO stop with the Al Gore “we have to do something about that” and give details. BHO, if you win, are you going to swear into office on nothing, the Bible, the Koran, or something else???

One change sure to be high on the next presidents agenda is energy….America is the most vulnerable country in the world to peak oil…it will led directly to the death of the dollar in forex….Oil, natural gas, and electricity are all approaching the crisis stage…Look at the Texas electricity scandals….Never, ever let the lying thieving clowns in the Georgia State Leg deregulate electricity….It will be worse than natural gas deregulation….It all comes back to income distribution…The top 1% stealing 40% of the income means most of that money is going not for the necessities of daily living, or even for luxuaries, but for speculation….We desperately need a normal distribution of income, something Europe comes far closer to than America….If that means more Social Security spending, then so be it….All incomes over $500,000 should be taxed at the 90% rate, while income under 100K should pay no Federal, Medicare, or Social Security tax….Lift the limit on Social Security tax too. I am Muslim yes (as are most blacks from Philadelphia), but you probably know more about the Koran than I do. To say I’m religious would be a stretch; I haven’t been to a Mosque or attended Juma in years. I want Obama to win because he has given me the right answer on my main personal issue— Iraq. Yes the economy is in shambles, yes our constitutional rights are being eroded left and right, but I am not one to wait for handouts or to complain to Uncle Sam, because regardless of whatever shape the economy is in, I’ll make mine and do what I have to do. First, let’s drop SENATOR from Barry’s title. He hasn’t spent enough time in the senate to find his seat, apparently, and certainly knows nothing about the intricate working of the government. Second, Barry wanted to be classified as white until he found a black classification might do him more good, so suddenly became a “po black man in America”, which is garbage. He is an elitist, non-American in terms of patriotism, and regardless of book intellect, is a moron. He stated, in 2004, he would never vote for someone WITHOUT political experience, when asked about a future White house bid, and said if he retained his senate seat (so far unused), he would consider running in 12 years. You can’t believe anything he says, it is politics as usual. He has no experience and his beliefs are dangerous and probably should be scrutinized thoroughly for possible criminal and anti-American content. Only fools would vote for this maniac.

Fox ain’t fair, and Fox ain’t ballance. Katie Curic at CBS gushed support for Hillary each and every night on the evening news, blatantly I might add. I record all three major network evening news programs, and I have noted an almost item item dublication between CBS and NBC…even as to the order of the items. ABC at least reorders the stories, and covers one or two different topics each night. I think this is occurring because news editors and reporters are increasingly getting their stories from the internet…it use to be newspapers got major stories, and a few interest stories from upi and ap, but lately it all seems to be coming from the internet…and the content is lacking…Taken to the limit (a calculus term) we will one day soon have one guy out in the field obtaining stories, and 20,000 in newrooms across america spinning those stories in a hundred different directions….My advice to the ajc is disconnect the internet feeds to people’s desks, and kick them out to the field to gather stories first hand. or not, just go along to git along until it all folds…

We don’t give Japan even 1 dollar per year, so we must be anti-japanese, and anti-shintoism. We Americans do not owe Israel anything, it is just the opposite: We have armed them to the teeth with american weapons, for free, and given them a financial subsidy of ~ $1,000 each for each man, woman, and child in Israel, regardless of religion, and we do this each and every year. Have you ever thought that because of Pres. Bush and his policies, the poor U.S. economy, and the Iraq War, along with the perception of the U.S. by other world leaders, that he could not afford to wait? I guess you would have rather he waited until the U.S. goes completely in the toilet before he run for president. Sen. McCain purpose that nothing be done about the housing industry, just wait, it will straighten itself out. While we are waiting, people are losing their homes all over the country by the hundreds a day.

I will ignore your reference to shucking and jiving, because I know it was to denote him as being black. Again go to http://thomas.loc.gov and you can see the legislation that he has put forward since he has been in the Senate. There are leaders that have been in Congress and the Senate for years and they do not propose any legislation. Therefore, time in office does not equate to their abilities and effectiveness.

Pres. Bush was a two term governor and is on his second term as the president, he has a disapproval rating of 82%. You might consider him qualified, but he has been the most ineffective president in U.S. history.

Puting an antimissle system in Eastern Europe will result in a similar crisis in this hemisphere, and the outcome may not be good this time around….

Quite interesting. Because a couple of weeks ago, you posted the following from the same IP address you’re using today:

West Cobb Dad,

If you would go back and read the last comments made by “tired”, it should answer some of your questions. As for the two candidates competing to become president of the US, I have to ask, “What do you know about McCain”. You really don’t have to answer that question; I think that I know the answer. Nothing other than what you’ve heard on TV; the same can be said regarding Obama. Do the American people a favor; Do your own research. It’s amazing how much a person can learn, only if they read for themselves (“Tired” has two postings with some very valuable research information. Finally, you say “I don’t care if you are white, black, red, or green, or male or female. If I think you can do the job, then you will get my vote.” For some reason, I don’t believe you. It sound to me that you are only making excuses as to why you won’t support Senator Obama. Why? Probably because, “that’s the way it has always been.” I think you get my drift.

If the Drudge Report is such an awesome media and get it right, then why have they been heaping so much praise on Obama? And in regards to your earlier comment Chicago is a crooked city, but Rusty’s comment about Dorothy Tillman is completely false. If I recall she isn’t even an alderman, and has been talking about reparations for the last 15 years.

As for your fear of being nuked, I don’t think any of W’s foreign policies is keeping that from happening. Yeah he brought the fight to the Taliban in Afghanistan, but totally dropped the ball by going into Iraq. Which by all means has made us less safe by being used as REAL propaganda to recruit more terrorists. You don’t want your tax dollars to be used to go to “lazy people that don’t want to work”, but Halliburton and KBR aren’t working too hard and they’re getting your money too.

Jan, Rusty and By the Truth,

First of all a great many people are not losing their home because they bought overpriced houses on adjustable mortgages. Most of losing their homes because of the down turn in the economy, which are making companies lay-off, or cut many jobs. When you have no money, then you can not pay a mortgage whether it is overpriced or not. People are losing their jobs because of the tax incentives and NAFTA which is benefitting other countries and not the U.S. NAFTA enabled many companies and factories to closed their doors and moved their operations. Those companies are still receiving large tax breaks eventhough they are not located in the U.S. and the majority of their workforce is not American. Now, Pres. Bush is pushing for a trade agreement in Columbia.

Also, for those who have investments or 401Ks, go review and see how much money you have lost in the last 7 years.

I know that I am wasting my time trying to educate you three, since you refuse to research the subjects but would rather take the Republican way out and repeat false accusations.

One of Sen. Obama’s policy is to increase the education standards in the U.S. I know it is too late for some, who refuse to learn, but think about the future generation. We do not want them to be ignorant and speak without knowing the facts also.

Welfare was ended under Clinton (Welfare to work), so there aren’t too many ‘welfare babies’ out there anyway. And if there are can you really blame the ‘babies’? Not sure about that comment, won’t call you racist though since when welfare was existing there were more whites on it than blacks. You being black and all would know that.

Regarding Iraq, I don’t see how you can say with the way things have gone that you still may think it was the right thing to do. “Being greeted as liberators.” “The war will pay for itself with the oil revenue.” You don’t have to be an armchair QB to see this has been a complete disaster. Every time a General says something that W doesn’t agree with he replaces them. We’ve been there going on 6 yrs, with no progress whatsoever. And none in sight. Trillions of YOUR tax dollars will have been spent by the time its over, and every domestic policy has been scrapped because of it. Just my POV.

Tired, You’re correct about not all people buying overpriced houses. Yes, people did get laid off but then again, a lot of people borrowed money they could not pay back in the first place. People should save money instead of spending it like a drunkin sailor. I’ve actually made MORE money in my 401k from diversified stocks. It doesn’t hurt that I also put my money in money market accounts.

How is Obama going to pay for more education? TAX MONEY. Which means higher taxes and less jobs. By the way, it’s funny that public schools in this country are in the toilet. European kids are learning at a higher rate so I don’t see how more money is going to help. It comes down to the individual and not government. Parents also play a huge role.

The Truth,

I’m at a point now where I think the government should step in and be expanded - we’ve left governing up to corporate intersts for so long, the middle class and poor are being thrown out with the bath water. It’s time for lobbyists, special interest groups, and corporations to stop making the laws in this country, and let the government help all the people - not just them.

The Truth

Food Stamps and Welfare are two different things. College students can get food stamps. Welfare was a monthly check that people got to do nothing. Obama can’t increase government anymore than Bush already has. Homeland Security was the largest expansion of government in U.S. history. Republicans AND Democrats did send the troops to war, and the democrats should grow a spine and bring them home. Again my opinion. A committee in the Senate just released a memo today saying that the intelligence the Bush administration had submitted to Congress was faulty ‘at best’. The Dems still should’ve looked more closely, but the President is the Commander-in-Chief and the buck stops with him. First he says it’s too bad in Iraq so we can’t leave, then he says things are getting better so we can’t leave. Sounds like endless war to me. Especially when in 6 years he hasn’t detailed what exactly does victory mean. I blame the Dems for not putting his feet to the fire enough, the media as well. We do need a 3rd party, but in the meantime I’d rather have more government than more wars. Which is what McCain would do. Picture someone coming up and knocking you out. Instead of waking up and fighting him, you go and beat the brains out of someone else walking down the street minding their own business. Thats what Bush did with Iraq.

To Tell the Truth & Rusty,

According to U.S. Dept. of Labor website, http://www.bls.gov/LAU the unemployment rate in the South is 4.6, Northeast 4.7, West 5.3 and Midwest 5.1. Now tell the unemployment rate to a mother in California with 1 teenage daughter who was laid off from a job making $88,000 a year. She found 2 part time jobs making less than $20,000 a year. She is now sleeping in her car with her two dogs, in a gated apartment parking lot provided by the government to keep her safe. Her daughter is living with friends and hating the world. Okay, you found two jobs, now tell her where she can get a house or apartment in California for less than $20,000.

I’m glad that your 401K is making money in the last 7 years. I don’t believe it because the stock market has had more drops than increases. Also, money market accounts earning percentages are 3 or less. You earn more interest in U.S. Treasury Bonds now than money markets.

I will ignore the drunken sailor remark, because it disrespect our sailors.

As for the education, it would be paid by not extending the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy that McCain plans to extend. It will also be paid by canceling the tax breaks that big companies who moves their job overseas receives. It also could come from not spending billions of dollars on an unjust war. Let’s see, we could get the money from the fradulently paid contractors in Iraq.

You talk about raising taxes, but did you know that this president has raised the taxes more than any president in history. Let’s not forget his father, “Read my lips, no more taxes.” He then turns around after he is elected and raise taxes.

I do not want my taxes raised, but if it will ensure that our students are not as ignorant as some of these bloggers, then raise my taxes please.

Bosch, grad student, Bookman, et al: Change, change, change. I went to the webpage, read the blueprint(such as it is), very unimpressed. The change is a change back to the wimpy foreign and domestic policies of Jimmy Carter. At least Clinton, bless his heart, had the good sense to govern from the middle. This blueprint is textbook left-wing liberalism, nothing more. For all his talk of being post-partisan or reaching across the aisle, where’s the evidence? Name one policy that he has advocated or proposes that stands up to the liberal special interests? Sure, he’ll work with Repubs on issues that aren’t controversial or that don’t have a clear liberal or conservative position. But on the 98% of issues that do, he will be on the liberal bandwagon 100% of the time. McCain, on the other hand, has made a career out of standing up to his party. If the American people really want a post-partisan, from the center President, the choice is obvious: McCain.

How about climate change, comprehensive immigration, etc. Like I said, the real post-partisan is clear: McCain.

The hospitals blame the overload of patients on illegals and a lack of doctors and nurses. Look what the “private sector” did to the mortgage industry. We are. Yes, government is good for some things. FDA, national security are a couple. A big reason doctors are becoming scarce is because of frivolous lawsuits. I know plenty of doctors who have had to close up their practice because of idiots bringing about a lawsuit against them. Malpractice insurance is through the roof! The private sector works at a much fast pace than government. Public schools are a joke but we could argue that all day long. By the way, I love Chicago. Just not the high taxes. The Truth, so what are we to do? I understand malpractice insurance is extremely high, but what happens when the doctor amputates the wrong leg? Give the patient $20K because Bush believe juries (you know, your peers) shouldn’t award large punitive payments to people in situations such as that. My belief is that we don’t have to spend, as a country, a 3rd of our annual budget on the military industrial complex. If you put some of that money into schools, job training, and other ‘investments’ it would help cease the homeless problem we have. As well as the welfare issue, as you put it. You can say schools have to perform at a certain level (No Child Left Behind), and then not fund the schools.

Training starts at home with parents. People that have 10 kids by some baby daddy is not going to work. Families can’t work that way. Minimum wage jobs were never designed to support families. People need to get over that and make responsible choices. It’s like Bill Cosby says, if you make smart life choices you life WILL turn out better. I’m sick of the sob stories. There is a time when people need to grow up and work hard. Government CAN NOT solve life’s problems.

Chicago is not the greatest city in the world. Sorry, but it’s not. The CTA is great YET there are still problems. They threaten to close routes all the time due to money. Where is all the money going? UNIONS! And politicians pockets. If it was privatized it might be better. It would not take a year for train stops to be fixed. Atlanta was never designed well. You can thank General Sherman for that one. It is too spread out. No planned design. Chicagos train system was designed around the city. Great system. Although, I hate rush hour. As to your last post, there is more medical malpractice than you may think. Yeah, incorrect leg amputations may not occur everyday, but people dying in hospitals because of bad medical care (germs) after surgery does.

Anyway, it’s 4:30 and I’m out the door now… Hmmmm, how will I get home today? Good luck with spaghetti junction and 400, lol.

I Live in Chicago, Hyde Park. Obama land. William Ayers land. Traffic in Chicago is just as bad as Atlanta. The 90-94? I’ve sat in traffic for hours during rush hour. You’d be surprised as to where I live. Not too far from you. Opps. I let something slip. Gotta go catch the red line to Belmont.

The Truth - did you know that you posted about 25 comments today ranging from 10 this morning until just a few minutes ago. That’s almost as pathetic a hobby as my need to crunch up information into meaningless numbers!! Almost but not quite….

Gentlemen, GENTLEMEN!! It’s not the # of comments one troll might post that makes him a total cheekwad. No. It’s the fact that not one of his 26 comments were worth reading, nor were they read or replied to, except by the one eyed mouse that lives in his hands, that he keeps confusing with the computer’s mouse, that is, himself.

U C, trolls create aliases with which they converse. Trolls talk to themselves 24/7, like the mitochondrial mutants their mothers created by drinking so heavily while the bad seed was fixin to hatch.

And I think it’s a damn shame.

JHAVARD: Amen, and Amen!!! I totally agree with you…and those that think we are thinking “stupid” need to stop and actually read about Obama, THEN decided if this is someone who should be running this country. I say NO!!!
