So, Hillary as veep?

It’s now pretty clear that it’s over, and that Hillary Clinton will, in some form or fashion, acknowledge that reality tonight. A series of prominent Clinton backers have come out to pass that message along to her in public, just in case she was having second thoughts about stringing it out any longer.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, for example, said on CNN today that “a decision has to be made about whether keeping this nomination wide open is in the best interest of winning in November. I do not believe that it is, and I’m a very strong supporter of Hillary being placed on ticket as a vice presidential candidate.”

AP is also reporting that in a private conference call today among supporters, Clinton said she would be open to running as vice president if it would help the party’s prospects in November.

So that’s the next question. I have a lot of respect for Clinton’s intelligence and tenacity, and believe she would have been a very good candidate for president and a very good president as well. And certainly, putting her on the ticket would go a long way toward healing some wounds within the Democratic Party.

But if I’m Barack Obama, I want a vice president who is the second banana and knows it. If there are headlines to be made, I want to be the one making them. I want a veep who is content to serve quietly in my administration unless and until something tragic happens to force her to step forward.

It would take a lot of convincing to make me think Hillary Clinton could be and wants to be that person.

Edwards for VP is the best choice. Hillary is no choice. Had she won, one can be certain that Sen. Obama would not have been the VP candidate. Feinstein and all the other Clintonites had no good words to say of the Senator…I don’t think they should have a say as to his VP.

Nooooo !!! The Clintons have tooo much baggage….and the Republicans are all too ready to dig them up !!

My pick ? Jim Webb of VA — A true Southern American hero !!!

Quite frankly, I think she would be of more value and efficacy in the Senate. Obama would be better served by a VP choice that fills gaps, such as real foreign relations experience, like Biden or Nunn. And there are other women who would be excellent and would lack Clinton’s baggage, such as Governors Kathleen Sebelius and Janet Napolitano. Clinton has the potential to be Senate Majority leader and to complement Obama as a powerful partner to shepherd key legislation to get this country back on path!

Edwards is not a good VP choice. He’s Kerry-fied. No, I think Hillary can convince Obama that she can play second fiddle because her reward is 16 years in the white house, come on people. What a prize.

Hillary is no fool. SHe didn’t burn the house down. Instead she’s elevated women, and America.

As a life long republican, I will be casting my vote for Obama this fall - that is unless he chooses Hillary. She has said too much, done too much, and brings too much bad blood to this entire situation. Would you want to have her and Bill standing over your shoulder for the next 4 years pointing out how they would do things?

Yep, unless Obama has to worry about appeasing Clinton’s voter base, he probably would not choose her. And hey, Edwards? Talk about the empty suit ticket. But, whoever the Anointed One chooses, I look forward to our new Socialist Overlords.

Really.

And congratulations on the blog, Jay. I almost never agree with you. But I admire that you are putting it out there with a way for us amateurs to duke it out.

Hillary Rodham Clinton is the greatest campaigner in American History!

Hillary Rodham Clinton is the BETTER of the two candidate to produce the Democratic Presidential WIN for America!

Hillary Rodham Clinton is electability!

Superdelegates just don’t get it. It’s All About Electability!

Barack Hussein Obama does not use his real name and Obama wife is very negative, both attended a negative ‘Anti-America’ church for 20 years with Rev. Wright shouthing ‘HATE AMERICA’ ‘HATE WHITES’, etc. Also, Rev. Pfleger is very negative was well.

Barack Hussein Obama does not relate with the ‘working-class’ no matter how much Obama’s wife tells about her hardships paying for this and that. Who in the world would believe Obama’s wife and her money issues? NO ONE…..neither Barack Hussein Obama nor his negative wife relate to the ‘working-class’…simple and true.

GO HILLARY!! GO ALL THE WAY TO THE CONVENTION!! GO ALL THE WAY TO THE WHITE HOUSE!! GO HILLARY!!

HILLARY—RUN AS AN ‘INDEPENDENT’!! Got your Back!! Lot of voters feel the same.

IT’S TIME FOR HILLARY TO STEP-UP AND RUN ‘INDEPENDENT’ FOR WOMEN, WORKING-CLASS, AND OTHERS THAT DO NOT IDENTIFY WITH BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA OR OBAMA’S WIFE.

GO HILLARY!!! ‘INDEPENDENT’!!!

My daddy is smart and Barack is not. I am smart and you are not, Jay. We are all Clintons and we are entitled and that’s why my mommy will win this nomination and then the office of the president of the USA. My daddy said so and daddy never, ever lies about anything!! Hilarious opinions from far left nuts on here. Shows you guys have no clue. Obama doesn’t stand a chance because he’s too far left. Edwards would make it worse. He can’t justify any of his “solutions”. “Change” is a just a cool word. It’s McGovern all over again. I predict Obama will get 30% of the popular vote.

We’ll witness the demise of the Democratic Party when it can’t even beat the Republicans after an unpopular Republican President’s term. I’m enjoying sitting back and watching.

You hit the nail on the head!!! That is exactly why Obama will not seriously extend an offer to that douche bag to be his VP. For political reasons I would expect that Barack would make a public statement that he would invite that egotistical beeyhotch to be his VP with the understanding that the douche bag would decline the offer. It only shows that you’re still stuck in GA “time”…as the rest of the world has moved on. “Your” kind has done nothing but ruin EVERYTHING…from our economy to our very standing in the world (that includes the economy)… OUR GDP is now almost half of what Russia, China, and India’s are. Our dollar is worthless… Oil was $27 a barrel when the “bubble boy” took the keys to the white house…look at it now. Blmae it on whatever you want…make up “news” as “facts” you hear from Rush, Bonehead (Boortz) or Faux… This country will take generations to fix what YOU did by voting for the bubble boy…We are no longer super power…we will never be one again…that’s OK..all empires die… he just moved our timeline up by 20 or so years.

Guess what Mr. Bubble boy voter? Gays are STILL GAY!!! ABORTION is STILL legal!!! and your kind…only lives in “backwards” states like GA. Last in education… it shows in how you cast your votes. Step aside and let the “man” come through…. ;-)

ENOUGH WITH THESE SORRY CLINTONS. If Obama is smart that douche will not even be a choice. I certainly would not vote at all if that crab is on the ticket. She is a liability with all the baggage that she and slick Willie carry, the Republicans would have a field day. There are more qualified candidates than these bunch of trailer trash. Get rid of these pricks.

Obama will pick up more supporters if he picks Bloomberg, Sebelius or even Casey. But will lost big time with that scum on the ticket.

After all that crap about McCain being a better president, she wants the VP slot, the only ticket she should be getting is the one straight to jail with her sleaze husband. She is a republican with stupid ideals and she has no platform. She certainly would not offer the VP spot to Obama.

I HOPE OBAMA HAS THE COMMON SENSE TO SEND HER PACKING AND HOPE NY WILL DO THE SAME TO BOTH OF THE CLINTONS. GOOD RIDDANCE, JUST LIKE THE BUSHES. ENOUGH, ENOUGH, ENOUGH OF THESE CROOKS AND CRIMINALS!

Blondshag - U think Michelle Obama didn’t grow up with money issues?? Then obviously you don’t know much about the impoverished southside of Chicago area where she grew up.

Today’s a great day for Obama. He will wrap up the democratic nomination tonight and march on to the presidecy later this year. All the negative talk on here about how he can’t win just shows how afraid some of you all are that Obama is going to mop the floor with old man McCain.

As far as Hillary as his VP, I hope he doesn’t feel the need to choose her. She’s done far too much damage for them to coexist on the ticket and I don’t think she’ll be content playing her role as a traditional VP. She’d try her best to act as the co-president instead of vice.

Claire McCaskill, it was reported, in print, so if it is in error, its not my original, that Hillary was livid that McCaskill had made the statement that she didnt want Bill anywhere near her daughters, its sad that someone with such gutter moral fibre is parading around as a former President of these great United States, God Bless America, McCain, Jendel, 2008!!!!

Chris,

The only monkey around seems to be you dragging your knuckles like the racist prick you are. Here you go trying to stereotype, people could say the same about GW Bush and company, twice over. The last time I looked it was whites in charge of this country, foreclosures, jobs going overseas, factories closing, high rate of unemployment, hiring illegal immigrants and then trying to make excuses saying they are taking jobs no one wants, GDP, all time low, Deficit in the billions, people without healthcare and yet you want to blame a black man who is not in office. The last time I looked since the being of this country it has been whites at the helm..change is good at times.

Maybe if you stopped looking at the skincolor and look the policies and the issues you will see that the economy effects all of us, lack of healthcare, unemployment affects all it does not discriminate. So knuckledragger its not about white or black America is about humanity, oh, wait you have to have cognitive and relative thinking skills to comprehend that one. Anywho!

Darn, those deer in the headlights they just cannot seem to want to move the closer you get, that is what the republicans are feeling, getting hit while they stare at the light.

John McCain, cannot articulate his position on the economy because the idiot said on National TV he did not know about the economy. SO how is it that he will help the American people out of anything. He platform is WAR, WAR, WAR, and riding the coattails of “I’m a war veteran”. That line is as old as John, give it a rest. He was elected just like John Lewis on his rhetoric of service. Other than that they have done little or nothing within their own communities or state.

McWAR is considered picking Bobby Jindal as a VP, now the rednecks will surely slither up and around the rocks. So what do you think about that? McWAR HAS NO PLATFORM AND NEVER WILL. Is that the best you can pull from the Republican camp?

Maybe Billary needs to go back to her party..THE REPUBLICANs, after all we know she only came to the Democrat side when she realize that Republicans would not allow a woman to run for the senate. Now what! She is a cloaked Republican and she showed it during this campaign. Send her packing and offer her nothing.

Obama should look into asking one of the govenors from Ohio, Pennsylvania, or any other blue collar state so he can win those voters over.

If he doesn’t pick Clinton as VP, then he’d darn well better pick a woman for his running mate. His was not the only historic candidacy this year, and some of us are downright bitter—not so much at him, but at his “followers.” It’s not bitterness that she lost but bitterness at how the media, Obamaniacs, and others used misogynistic language to decry her bid. To his credit, Obama rarely (although not never) participated.

Jay, mighty white of you to leave Chris’s post.

If you supporters of Obama and Clinton want want to know where those two commies will take us you have to look no further than France where Briget Bardot was convicted of a crime for saying that the Muslims were destroying her country. You might also look at that great promoter of freedom, Hugo Chavez, who today asked all citizens to report any neighbor that made disparaging remarks toward the government.

Yep, mighty white of you Jay and wonder how long our freedom of speech will be allowed when the commies are in control!!!

From Jay’s comments about Scott McClellan’s book on the “misrepresentations” by Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld, Jay needs to read the companion book by Melody Beattie “Codependent No More.”

What Jay (and McClellan) do NOT seem to understand is that when an alcoholic (like George Bush) stops drinking, it doesn’t change his alcoholic mentality in that he still thinks that he is always right (regardless of evidence) and he can’t understand the difference between his “interpretation” and lying.

Much like Gail Sheehy’s observation that former Presidential Candidate Gary Hart was a “flake,” someone needs to do a psycho-political analysis of “George W. Bush, The Alcoholic Politician” and its companion volume “Bill Clinton, The Alcoholic Politician.”

And speaking of Cheney’s two DUI’s in college….

We have had alcoholics and their enablers running this country for at least 15 years and it is time to end that stupidity.

I have finished Obama’s first book and am halfway through the second. No one puts thoughts like his in writing if they are a hypocrite. Instead I am stunned at his wisdom and eloquence. It is obvious to me that the “Cool-Aid” that Obama opponents claim his supporters are drinking is based upon those opponents’ illiteracy from not having read Obama’s book(s) or their blind bias.

Then, study the U.S. Constitution. Learn to be independent from government. Nobody owes you anything. Self-sufficiency is virtuous and meaningful.

Obama stopped the experimentation as a teenager because he realized the inherent stupidity and lack of discipline it created.

Bush continued drinking as an “adult.”

When did the economy tank? When the left wing democrat congress took power. When did oil futures begin their uphill spiral? When the left wing democrat congress took power. When will Oblama ask Clinton to be his VP candidate? When hell freezes over. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Hill&Bill actually privately campaign against Obamski, so when he loses, she can give a big “I told you so” to the party in two years when this nonsense starts all over again. Remember, these are the single most ruthless politicians of the last 50 years, and they will stop at nothing to get what they want. But what Billery doesn’t realize is that whoever wins in November will be lock for a two-term presidency, as the economy will turn around in 2010 and they will get all the credit.

O’Bama is in a totally no-win situation when it comes to the Clintons. He really is screwed.

After the speeches tonight, I have to say, there was only 1 future president that spoke. He spoke of us as Americans, ALL of US! Obama will unify our country once again.

Putting Hillary on the ticket will do only one thing - it will unify the republican base to vote against her! She is hated, as unbelievable as is may seem, more so that McCain among the republicans.

McCain won the nomination because the base of the party was split up among the other 3 candidates on the ticket and the independants who crossed over.

You people can’t see the nominee for the politicians! Put your egos in check and vote for what’s best for the country as a whole instead of your little corner. That’s what being an American in all about first and foremost.

I agree that having a Clinton behind you is dangerous for a man OR a woman. I would recommend to Sen. Obama to stay as far away from the Clintons as possible.

I used to lean to the left but now that I’m a “responsible” adult with kids I can’t stand what the extreme liberals and environmentalists are doing to this country. The fact is we need to be less dependent on foreign oil in this country. We need to make it easier to drill at home and drill now. The dems putting big oil on trial earlier this month is just another example of their positioning themselves to pander to the uneducated voter. Their motto is “deceive now - get votes now”. Big oil makes a profit because of supply and demand and basic market value of their product. Other economies are booming and can afford to pay more for oil. Democratic leaders want you to believe that asking the oil companies to not make a profit will eliminate the issue. The only way to make things better with our economy is to drill for oil at home now. Until the American people are educated on this we will remain in our downward spiral. I just wish there was a republican I had faith in. The dems are all fluff with no substance. The republicans are too caught up with special interests.

ABE… I was talking about the GPD “percentage” of growth…not the dollar amounts. Ours grew at slightly over 3% and the other countries I mentioned above had growth of between 6% and 7%. Like a true “talking head” it is always the GOP that spins numbers in their favor. Our economy is slowing and barely even crawling at this point. Russia, China, and India’s economies are at a nice steady run…up hill and still climbing.

Try this one day: READ!!!!

If you did, you’d know that Obama is the ONLY hope left for this country. Or after 7 1/2 years of Bubble Boy Bush and co… the empty shell is all that’s left of it. They gave away our surplus and left us so far in debt, that we’re going to be digging out for generations. Yet every day they dig that hole a bit deeper.

More of the same you say? No way. I’m not a betting man, but I WOULD bet all I own on this election. The whole “gay marriage and abortion” thing does not come into play any longer. Bubble Boy got lots of votes from those that voted on those two issues, yet gays still have sex, new gays are born every day, and your little teens that you don’t teach about birth control can STILL get abortions!

Obama 08 because we need ALL the gays and abortion providers happy…most of all the gay abortion doctors and nurses! YAY! ;-)

PS: I’ve never seen the “talibangelicals” so fearful of a candidate in my life. I’m having FUN watching you all squirm. The debates are going to be “pricless” as McCain can NOT speak. Compare HIS speach last night to Obama’s and you’ll see why Obama has the job already handed to him…

Some of you people on this sight is just plain “STUPID” wake up. Obama will not be the President unless he picks Hillary as his Vice President. Wake up people. The only reason he won is because of all the “BLACK VOTER” who by the way have probably never voteds before in their life. If he had not been running Hillary would have gotten those votes and she would have been the next “PRESIDENT” again wake up America. He only won because of all the black votes not all American votes. He stole her time and he should have waited then run in four years but he got selfish and without Hillary by his side it will come back to hurt his chances and then we will be back in the “BUSH” years all over again. Way to go Obama another four years of hell with the McCain and Bushes. Maybe McCain should pick Bush to be his Vice President because if he gets in nothing going to change and neither one of them will have to work hard because America is already a mess. I will give Obama my vote and pray that you have enough sense to pick Hillary as your Vice President not Edwards and hope that we can keep McCain out of the white house. I’m from Georgia and I think that all the rest of you people from Georgia who hate Hillary should vote for McCain because you are just as stupid as he is and Obama does not need your vote. The reason our country is struggling is because of the incessent obsession with our particulary party and the blind faith of it. Part of the problem is that generally speaking, party followers assume that everything that they party believes is correct. Any person who believes that they have all of the answers is inevitably wrong. The logic that, “If I vote [insert party here], then the country will be saved because everything my party says in the absolute correct thing to do”, is simply obtuse and part of the problem. Since you ask, I am a moderate. That doesn’t make me a “flip flopper” because situations change and sometimes, I find that I was mistaken (GASP!!). Right now, Conservatives are trying to sell that their party is the only “moral” one and that you can’t be a Christian if you aren’t one. I can’t even begin to explain how ludicrous this is….and Republicans with sense should be ashamed of their party for it. Republicans should be ashamed of calling Barak a terrorist- simply because of the horrible connotation of that. It is the same religious conservatives that preach morality that call a US Senator a murder. Democrats should be ashamed for assuming all conservatives are just like GWB and that they have no sympathy for people or our county. If you read closely, you’ll see that the problems in our county don’t stem from people who can think independently, it comes for extremists who poison the mind of the general public by clouding issues, insisting on party loyalty for the sake of party loyalty and can’t possibly be wrong about anything at any point. Relax, take a deep breath and think about why your opposite party MIGHT be right about an issue. If you think about what your opinion ISN’T, you might learn more about other people, you might realize that there MAY be a better way, you might learn about compromise, and if you still think you are right, you might learn more about why you believe in your own argument. Whatever you do, don’t vote by party because ultimately, no politician you vote for has any real relation to the problems of they average American citizen. Voting strictly by party affiliation perpetuates a vicious cycle.

P.S. Good post, KD. Pretending that all party conflicts amount to “good vs. evil” is a simpleminded, and dangerously STUPID, way to think.

We may be disgusted with the opposing party’s leadership, but remember that some of that same corruption dwells within our own… and that not every Registered Enemy is 100% in line with the bad stuff their party proposes.

Agreed, Cynthia @ 7:04am. At first I wanted Hillary as VP nominee, but I am thinking about changing my mind. Let Barak fail while McCain wins this time ‘round and have Hillary come storming back in 2012. The DNC has gotten too big for its britches, screwing Florida and Michigan like they did. Who the heck do they think they are, refusing to count folks’ votes!?! Unfortunately, Hillary was crucified under both their and the media gun for months without end. Yeah, we got it, Obama’s your golden boy, but you’re gonna get it in November.

It’s amazing to me how the DNC can so utterly and callously screw large segments of the voting population over and then have the balls to tell us Clinton supporters we’re “bullheaded and for us to come together for the sake of the party!” SCREW THAT!!! Are Republicans evil or just plain stupid or both???

The American people are being enslaved by Big Oil,Wall St.,Israel and Saudi Arabia and the GOP is promoting it.

July 4, 2008: gas is $5 gallon - we’ll rename it: Independence Day…Not.

The GOP keeps telling us that Iraq is the most important thing in the world - “we’ll never surrender”.

Meanwhile, Americans will continue to lose their jobs and lifestyles by the thousands.

No jobs, no gas, no housing, no healthcare, no education, no social security, no honest government.

Yet, we’re told - “its hard work, its not easy, a democratic Iraq will solve our problems.”

Hell no, invading another country and stealing its natural resources aint as easy as it used to be. Duh??

Thank God for Obama, we havent had any real intelligence in that White House in eight long years!!!

How long must Israel dicate our foreign policy, how many Americans must die for Israel, havent we done enough?

How about giving hard working Americans a break for four to eight years, we’re tired…
