Lest we forget…
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
I have this site bookmarked, and would recommend it highly.
It’s a blog by an Army lieutenant commanding a front-line platoon in Iraq. I’ve been following the adventures and misadventures of Lt. G and his Gravediggers for about a month now, and the author/lieutenant is as frank as operational security allows about the challenges they face and the human aspect of what they do. Some of it’s hilarious, some of it depressing, all of it interesting. His newest post, “The Happiest Dog in Iraq,” is up now. Scout it out, and report back ….

Very gritty. Of course. The dogs. I never thought of Iraqi dogs. They must be everywhere. They must be an added thing to worry about besides Al Queda, IEDs and collateral damage. Dogs. Fierce, mangy mutts. Those dogs have had enough time to pack together and get real territorial. It’s a study of the most primative form of survival of the fittest. Alley dogs in a war zone. Wow. This is a great site, Jay, and thanx for the heads up. The hell our troops are in. I’d join them in a new york second if they’d take 57 year olds. Please believe that. I’d give anything to be there. Didn’t the Russians used to train dogs to carry explosive under Panzer tanks in WW2? I think I read something about that? Relevant?
Dogs. wow.
