Honest, we tried to warn ‘em…

After losing three consecutive off-year elections in strongly GOP districts, congressional Republicans are really beginning to panic. They sense an impending November disaster that could put the party in the minority for decades, and like New Orleans before Katrina, they don’t know what to do about it.

Rep. Tom Davis, a Virginia Republican and former chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, told his GOP colleagues in a 20-page private memo that “the Republican brand is in the trash can. I’ve often observed that if we were a dog food, they would take us off the shelf.”

“Members (of Congress) and pundits waiting for Democrats to fumble the ball so that soft Republicans and independents will snap back to the GOP fail to understand the deep-seated antipathy toward the president, the war, gas prices, the economy, foreclosures and, in some areas, the underlying cultural differences that continue to brand our party,” Davis wrote.

Davis, by the way, has decided to evacuate before the hurricane hits. He’s retiring.

And the response from the hopelessly lost 28%-ers will be: “The Republicans need to get MORE conservative! We’re only in trouble because we’ve been too moderate and middle-of-the-road!”

The sad thing is, they believe it. And America will continue to tune them out, because their time has passed.

How soon will you dinosaurs be turning into oil? We could use a new supply lately, thanks to idiotic energy policies from the Bushies….

Borushannity gets credit for GOP fortunes too. Like Lou Dobbs, you only have to hear one minute of the broadcasts to know exactly what they’re going to say from then on to six months from now.

What I dont understand is how 1994 happened. Just what made americans so down on democrats? Was it Rush Limbaugh’s entertainment radio convincing americans to vote GOP? There could have been some mind control hypnotism involved with the way Rush intones his broadcasts. That’s still going on. You can hypnotize someone with sound and intonation, varying the pitch and timber and inflection and attitude. that’s how good cop bad cop works. that’s how advertising works. I wonder what national brain damage Rush and the GOP have done to the collective consciousness? These are criminals, people.

How can america not be angry enough to demand cheney’s resignation and bush too? A cultural war was declared by the GOP against sex and sexual people. Declaring that one is Being born again in the senate and white house is all it took for maniacs get the reigns of power. The sen craigs helped 2 reverse that trend I’m sure.

basically what I think happened is that rush, speaking for the GOP said that his god and his sex and his drugs were okay, but that america’s gods and america’s sex and america’s drugs was not okay. That sums it up as simply as I can put it.

Who would listen to stupidity like that and not rebel?

I am already accepted that their will be a democrat in the white House. After the cluster that come from the next four years we will have a better chance to put a true conservative that represents the people and not the Republican party. The republican party, the party of betrayl needs to go by the wayside.

Jay - Interesting views as usual. It’s rather funny that desperation has driven the ‘repugs’ to such an extreme that they actually believe we the people will ignore: 1. high gas prices 2. jobs going overseas 3. Iraq 4. the current state of the economy …and vote for them because of what somebody’s pastor said. They are in for a rude-awakening!
