Sales of energy drinks are skyrocketing. You probably know these beverages come loded with sugar, plus three times as much caffeine as soda. All that caffeine gives energy drinkers a jolt to get through the day. But chugging cans of Red Bull, Monster, Rockstar or other drinks can leave consumers with something more serious than a case of the jitters. How much do you enjoy caffeine-laden energy drinks? Are you worried about possible health risks?

Are you kidding? Caffeine IS addictive. A whole generation is growing up with ‘energy’ drinks for breakfast. They are hung-over from not getting enough sleep- and so the insomnia cycle starts with younger and younger kids. They are also laced with sugar, so over 20% of kids under 12 are obese. Insomnia has been linked to ADHD, early-onset high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes. This something to take veriy seriously. I advocate sleep-skill workshops and classes in schools and especially colleges. I also would judges have the option to mandate sleep-training for sleep-deprivation related accidents/offenses..
