Prozac for pets?

Modern medicine has trickled down to the pet population. Are anti-depressants a practical way to handle unruly pets or just a crutch for lazy owners?

I would not rule out using medication on a pet but I would personally try most alternatives before going that route. It took over a year working with one of my rescues to go from being scared of everyone/everything to where he is today, a confident, happy little boy. He thrives on attention instead of hiding when humans are around. If things had not gone in this direction, I would have rather tried medication then to let him be terrified all of the time.

Medication should be a last resort. I have a very willful dog, but I prefer to spend money on training rather than drugs.

Let’s stop overmedicating children, adults AND OUR PETS.

Only a nation of drug dependent cop outs would even consider doping their pets too. Wake up America!!
