Would you have a “mommy makeover”?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons released statistics that show “mommy makeover” procedures — tummy tucks, breast augmentations and breast lifts — rose 11 percent in 2006, as opposed to the 2 percent overall increase in cosmetic surgery. The rise could be attributed to women giving birth later and returning to work sooner, says an ASPS spokeswoman, noting that cosmetic surgery could help some women feel more comfortable, faster, with their appearance. Would you have a “mommy makeover”? Or are you comfortable just the way you are?

I’m waiting to hit the lottery so that I can go ahead and get mine. While my breasts are bigger, they also sag and I’ve done all the sit-ups that I can do. I plan on doing it in a few years when I’m 40 even if I don’t hit the lottery! I can’t wait!!!

I like myself just the way I am thank you. NO plastic surgery EVER. This is the body that God gave me, and I won’t surgically change it. I’m happy being me!!!

I would do it all in a minute if I knew the scars would not be horrific.
I have spoken with men who say the scare from the proceedure were much worse than the before “picture”.
Still how cool would it be to be perky again.

I would do it in a heart beat. Add Lipo and I would be in heaven! Breast reduction and lift just for comfort, tummy tuck just because. Yep…if I ever won the lottery…watch out!

I’ll deal with the tummy, but the girls have GOT to be lifted once this is over! I’m far from vain, but don’t like the sagging look from breast feeding!!!!

I just did it!! I got new girls at the end of November, so I am a part of the 11% rise!!! But I do have to say, my reasoning for it was the fact I had nothing, after 2 kids, and working out, they went away - my words were “negative 34 A”!!! Which was they way I always have been before and after kids. And no that I’m 30 I felt I was in total deserving mood of having new girls so that my body was equal from top to bottom!! They are perfect and beautiful too!!!

Clara, Our husbands, boyfriends, lovers, and significant others are being bombarded with media stereotypes that the average woman cannot hope to compare to. So instead of embracing the body that bore our children we are compelled to hate it. As I am now I am fine, I do not have to be perfect to be pretty, as long as the clothes stay on! Once the clothes come off I feel like a shar pei.
In The U.S. we are being hit from all sides. If we gain weight we are looked down upon and if we do something as drastic as surgery to fix it we are vilified.
Until America can accept us average size 12’s as anything other than “fat” we will be wishfully listing all the proceedures we would do “if and when”.
I would still fix the “girls” in heartbeat if I knew the scars would not be a horrific turn off both to me and others. Until that day there is Fredricks!

I guess I was blessed. After 3 kids my body still looks great if I may say so myself. I’m still in my early 40’s, so by 50 I may be looking for some touch ups but until then…i’m happy with me!

If you do have the procedures, what are you going to do when you get a T & A recall notice from the FDA?

I am overweight, with really big boobs (and if they’re natural they hang, it’s called gravity) and bum. And my tummy is like chicken skin from pregnancy. I am no longer a maiden.
I am a woman and I’ve earned my battle scars. I’ll keep them.
I made a decision to be morally against plastic surgery unless it is truly corrective.
I refuse to bow to the idea that you must not look like a real woman or a real mother.
It’s only looks.

I say better living through technology! Growing older gracefully is much more of an option for men than it has ever been for women. Men become more distinguished, woman just grow older….not anymore baby. We’re going kicking and screaming. If you’re taking care of your body and want to do a little paint and body work - go for it!! Enjoy life while you still feel like it!

No. I won’t do it. I’ve been size 5 since my baby was 2, she’s 14 now. I’m pregnant again and if I don’t go back to size 5 I will excercise and diet until I do. I’ll buy wrinkle cream but no surgery! Too risky!

I’ll sign up for all the latest cuts and chizeling women are doing to make themselves more attractive to men when and if men do the same thing. Why should women be the only people cutting things away and adding inches? As men age, most of them carry way too much weight, especially around the middle and there are many who cannot perform anyway so why cut yourself up for him? My theory is, most women do it to prepare for moving on to find the next sucker.

My reason for wanting the surgery is simple - I want to feel good while in my clothes. I have loose skin on my stomach (which looks like railroad tracks) and my breasts are all droopy. I want the skin removed and the breasts lifted. I’ve been with my husband for 18 years and I’m 37. He has never complained about the way I look, actually just the opposite. He tells me I’m beautiful no matter what.
I do love this man. But I still would like to put away the Spanx. I have a big ole butt - but that’s a part of my heritage and I don’t want surgery to change that. Just a little nip and tuck!

If I have the money I will definitely do it after I’m done having children. After just one child, who is now 1 1/2, my body has returned to my pre-pregnancy size…all but the sagging skin and nonexistent “girls”. I think it is safe and no different that changing your appearance in other ways such as coloring your hair, piercing your ears and buying the latest fashions. We all want to look as good as we can!!!!

I just want to fix the “girls”. I went from a nice 34 C to an impressive 34 FF. I sure would enjoy being a normal size and buy bras straight off the rack.

If you are doing it becasue you want to feel better about yourself, then I am all for it, but if some one is telling you you need to do it, makeing you feel unatrative then you might want to rething not only that relationship but weater you really want to do it! I am all for anything that makes you feel better or look better if it is your( the person having the surgery) choice! I have had plastic surgery, my mother sugested I should go about 15 years ago, offered to pay, I did not want to however 10 years later I decided to go and I have been very happy! I sometimes wish I had listened to my mother but at that time I was not really ready to do it, so again if you want to do it do! BUt not at someonelses urging or time table!

I look great in clothes. I mean not to gloat but I do. But in a bikini, ewwww! I have horrible strech marks and lose skin around my belly button and tiny, saggy boobies. I would take a tummy tuck, a boob job and maybe some lipo on tush while you are handing things out. I feel pretty good right now but I would feel better if, make that when, I have these things done.

I’ll take a breast reduction any day! I would feel better to know that I don’t have to buy and alter plus size shirts just to fit the girls. Now, they just don’t match my figure!

You all make it appear so cut and dried and easy. Look at Joan Rivers, well if you can stand to look at her for long. The woman is 103 without a line on the area that was once her face. She is a freak. The same for Burt Reynolds and Cher. Lets not forget what use to be Michael Jackson, only God knows what DNA he is carrying these days. Then, last and least there is the superfreak Janice Dickinson who probably started off a few decades ago when she was in her forties with a simple surgery or two, now look it. Once the ‘girls’ are lifted then what? Take a drive up to North Fulton and look at the one time career women who opted to have kids late in life, now they’re half starved looking to maintain the size 4 hubby expects and so many of them are sporting the botox and breast implant look. They look ridiculous. Face it, it does not look nor feel real; deal with aging, booster your self esteem not your cup size, work on self acceptance and stop raising teen ager girls with eating disorders. If your husbands are prone to cheat on you, its not because of how you look, they’ll do that no matter what….its their nature. It’s all about self esteem, not something you see an over abundance of on Dr. 90210.

I wouldn’t mind having a matching set of “girls”, since I’ve never had that. After two kids, they are a little too droopy for me, although my husband doesn’t care! I wouldn’t mind having them reduced either, because smaller is better. When it comes to Wonder Bras, I wonder why women really want huge breasts - they are more than weapons of mass distraction, they are in the way and uncomfortable. Engaging in any kind of sports (from running to golf) would be lots easier without large obstructions in the chest area. I would have tummy tuck in a minute. Even in my much thinner, younger years (and I’m 49 now) I never had what I would call a flat tummy. My sun queen days are long gone; a two-piece swimsuit is out of the question for me. I would, however, like to wear a nice flattering suit without having to worry about breasts popping loose or a flabby tummy showing!

In less it’s a case of disfiguration (naturally or from an accident) or a breast implant post-mastectomy, most all cosmetic surgery is pure vanity & reflects how shallow & superficial American society has become!!

I had breast augmentation done prior to my wedding - and prior to any children. I how have an almost 3 year old and want to do some lipo in my thighs and abdomen. I’d do it in a heartbeat and will likely plan it for next year, when I have saved enough to pay cash for it.
I am about 5’7” and weigh 123 pounds, but the body changes after giving birth. So…
Call me superficial, call me shallow…I don’t care. I look better than you…

What a bunch of vain, shallow women. Steal your meal ticket’s Amex card in order to “restore” your former beauty, which was illusory anyway. You deserve such an expenditure — because you know he’s cheating on a saggy old mommy anyway.

Never trust anything that bleeds for five days a month and doesn’t die. Women are evil and good for only one thing. Every day I am thankful I don’t own one. I merely lease. For less than three hundred dollars: toned, beautiful pleasure.

I think cosmetic surgery is something that we take advantage of as Americans. I believe if you really need it because you were in an accident of some sort that is fine, but to make you feel better about yourself that’s a whole different issue. In order to feel good about our selves we need to work on our emotions first and then work on our appearance.

All the visible parts that get all stretched out after she downloads a kid are not the biggest problem. It’s the stretching where you don’t see it. Throwing a pickle down a hallway ain’t much to look forward to.
