Women’s desks have more germs than men’s.

According to a recent AP story women’s work areas have more germs than men’s area. Reasons sited include makeup, munchies in our desks and we have more interaction with children.

Is your desk a haven for bacteria or are you the queen of Lysol?

I don’t think so Cause a man will go to the restroom and not wash his hands. I have seen this done several times and then come back and write with the same pencil or pen. a man is just nice NASTY

Peaches, I think you’re right. These nasty azz men in my office go to the rr and I know they don’t wash their hands. Then always trying to shake hands or pat you on the back. I have made an across the board rule, so nobody gets offended. I don’t shake hands…PERIOD! I wipe my desk down before I start my day, before I leave for the day and in between. I also keep lotion nearby, because of all the handwashing I do, with the company’s hard as heck industrial soap.

… that’s right, frequent handwashing is an effective tool in fighting the spread of virus and infectious germs, especially during the colds and flu season. It’s been very effective for me… But, more importantly, what do others think about scenarios such as management level folks with very young children who decide to bring those sick children into the office long enough to subject and infect everyone else in the office?
more importantly, what about the management folks who insist on bringing in their

I don’t believe that for one second. Guys are nasty!!! Walk in with muddy boots, don’t wash their hands, always grabbing their crotch, scratching their balding head under a sweat drenched hat….ah, the list could go on..on…& on!

How do you ladies know that these men don’t wash their hands?? I’m a lady and I wash my hands—but it has been my observation (in my office) that there are more women who DON’T wash their hands than do. Men aren’t the only ones who are nasty, there are just as many nasty women. I’ve even gone so far as, on days when we’re having parties, to check and see who’s bringing what so I’ll know what to eat and what not to…let’s just say, I never have a problem with eating too much.

I agree bmiller, both sexes have that nasty habit of not washing their hands. I work in a hospital and germs are all around. Washing your hands is the key people!! I am the Queen of lysol, alchol, hand sanitizer, and anything else I can saturate my desk, phone, pens, ect with to kill germs!! What really peeves me is the people walking around like outbreak monkeys knowingly infecting everyone else. Keep ya sick asses home!

C-DUB: are you saying that if someone has a cold that lasts 10 to 14 days, that they should stay home? What if they don’t have vacation or sick leave (i.e. a contractor who doesn’t have benefits) and cannot afford to be out of the office without pay for 10 to 14 days? I think that is a ridiculous expectation. Do YOU stay home when you have a cold?

I third that comment bmiller about the office parties. I am always the coordinator for such events and I never let ANYONE bring ANYTHING to eat. I always order out, and I even go so far as to order my food separately. But to answer your other question. I am the only woman in the office. It’s a small company with 3 employees in the Atlanta office. We have a uni-sex bathroom…I know YULK! You can hear when the person exits the stall area, and the water never comes on for handwashing!!!!I’ve witnessed the manager sneeze in his hand and then shake hands with someone coming in the door. GROSSSSSS!

OK, You ladies obviously don’t have kids in little leagues at your local park, because if you did, you’d know that the women are ANIMALS. Man you have to watch what’s above your head the minute you walk into the ladies restroom at the park. I mean they throw the napkins and tissue up there as if they didn’t see the garbage can. And how they miss the toilet when they are squatting over it amazes me. The floor is just as filthy as the ceiling.

I am a germophobe and everyone in my office knows it. I bring my own supplies and don’t lend or borrow anything. I don’t touch door handles. I keep two different types of hand sanitizer on my desk - one for public use and one for my personal use. I don’t use the public use one because I won’t touch the handle. If anyone comes in with cold symptoms they know they better stay away from me.

When I use the RR at work, I sanitize the toilet before covering and using it. I also listen out for people to pump the soap and wash their hands. I am disgusted by the number of women that will either just rinse their hands without soap or just walk out without making any effort. GROSS!!!

One more thing - I never participate in pot luck parties at the office. Who knows what you’ll eat by participating in those!?

All i can say is BMILLER is the only young lady that sounds like she has sense. Society wants us to believe that all women are made of sugar and spice, when some of them are nasty when it comes to the hygiene department. A spade is a spade, no matter which way you hold the card is what i say. The first 2 ladies sounds as if they’re p** off at the man population. Ease up ladies..there are some men out there that knows how to wash their hands after using the bathroom and cooking chicken and/or fish…yanno.

Donald, I do believe myself and the other ladies on this blog were simply stating what happens in are day-to-day office life. I know nasty people come in both sexes, races, and sizes. I am the only women in the office. I work for a trucking company, so I won’t even get into the nasty drivers both male and female that come into the office with paperwork. Again, I touch nothing. I think your comment about other people on this blog not having any sense, was rude. I, have a clean man at home, and that’s all good with me.

Have a good evening all…and to you rude Donald!

I agree with the RR handwashing thing. My desk is right outside the mens and womens facilities and I hear everything! I know exactly who comes out without washing their hands. Eeeewwww!!

Also, I hate to be an excessive snob, but I am also loathe to participate in office potlucks. Nasty. I once worked in an office where a co-worker, who had, like, 5 cats, brought in a red velvet cake with cat hair on the icing. Nasty. People get all offended, though, if you don’t want to eat their nasty-looking casseroles and cupcakes. Forget it.
