Under pressure? Get over easy!
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
During the course of our day we may tend to complain about our bosses nagging us or the idiot driver weaving in and out of traffic. These things tend to cause unneccessary stress. We’re always hearing not to “sweat the small stuff.” But what is the small stuff we’re not supposed to sweat? My motto is “Will this matter when I get home tonight?” How do you cope with the small stuff?

Smile really big..especially when folks cut you off. They expect you to exhibit frustration, and it messes with their mind when you don’t. I have done this for years with good results. (Occasionally I curse through clenched teeth though :-)always maintaining the smile….

I use to get all worked up over the small stuff. Then I realized that most of the small stuff was out of my control. I have plenty of other “important” things I have to take care of. As a recovering alcoholic, I feel as if I have a new lease on life. I’m just happy to be blessed with a second chance on life. Forget about the small stuff. Expend your energy on something more productive then giving some guy (or gal) the finger. Just my opinion…

Since I have road rage like a mother I usually either yell or sing really loud in the car. That relives a lot of my stress. When I have stress from work or school I usually go home and take a nice little nap. Then I wake up and eat something yummy and then I feel all better again!

Too many of us see our problems as being of a grander nature and so much more important than everyone elses. That allows us to sweat the small stuff because in our minds, if it happens to you it’s small and inconsequential, but when it happens to us we expect to the world to stop.

The small stuff I think is the unnecessary things that we cannot avoid happening. Ex.kids acting up, hubby flipping out for nothing, small stuff being nerve racking mom-n-law meddling. Just plain small stuff. I handle mines by simply ignoring some that I can, and others, I simply breathe real loud. It works!

I really don’t sweat it at all….I just employ heavy doses of sarcasism:) Things have happened around our family in the last couple of years that have enabled us ( me and my husband) to just smile it all away. At the end of the day…if our marriage is solid and we are healthy, if our children are happy and healthy…what else really matters? Sarcasism is a lovley way to deal however:)

Reggie L. Great approach! I remember witnessing a potential road rage moment when a car cut in front of another car then slowed down. The person driving the car that got cut off just went around the rude driver and waved a very happy wave.
