Check out “inside ajc.com”

We’ve just launched a new feature on the ajc.com homepage, just below the top section of the page.

Called “inside ajc.com,” this feature is designed to highlight a broad range of features and information available on ajc.com and accessatlanta.com.

It will point to items such as:

—the most recent data about home sales in your neighborhood

—ideas for making the holidays less stressful and more enjoyable

—the latest, best deals on air fares

—delicious, reader-tested recipes

—detailed info about local candidates in the upcoming election

—showtimes and reviews of hot new movies

tips for training your dog … or cat … or whatever animals you have

…and much more.

We’ve also discontinued a feature we’ve had on the homepage for some time - the rotating “tabs” at the top of the page. We heard from many of you that this was hindrance to your visit, and we’ve taken steps to make that better.

We think these changes will make it easier to find the news and information you want and need. Please let us know what you think.

Much better - the tabs always drove me crazy.

I doubt that I will be as excited as you seem to be about the “Inside AJC.com” feature. But perhaps many will be. I do want to say Thanks! for eliminating the rotating tabs. I suppose that “bells an whistles” are hard for any web page designer to resist, but it may be hard for them to realize that some come with a “annoyance factor.” I found it irritating to have the auto rotation activate while I was in the middle of reading a link on the current tab. I complained in the beginning, when I found that I could not get the rotation to stop. That problem was apparently fixed, but the auto rotation resumes with the next auto page refresh (Which is also annoying in it’s own right. I’d rather that I choose when the page is refreshed. Thanks again.

Thank you for getting rid of the rotating tabs. They were, in my opinion, awful. It seemed to draw too much bandwidth (or something like that), and when I’d go to click something, the page might move. Not something I liked at all.

One of the best parts of the Web site, however, are the blogs. The blogs cover such a wide range of topics and interests. I, personally, enjoy Rodney Ho’s radio and television blog (given the amount of time Atlanta commuters spend in the car, knowing what’s happening with the local radio industry is invaluble so people know what happened to their favorite personailities and formats). Now, the blogs are difficult to find.

The AJC website has never been very good and more recently has begun to take on the image of “Entertainment Tonight”. T.I. on The View? I think he needs a little more time in jail … That is where I would be if I pulled the stunt he did!

The direction you are headed in and the content of your editorial paages explains why you no longer “Cover Dixie Like Dew” in print or via the Internet …

THANK YOU!!

I can finally turn off the script blocker for your web page! That resizing bouncing the screen all over the place was incredibly annoying. If it changed w/out resizing and shifting the page around, I’d have no problem w/it, but it did. Drove me nuts.
