Your Top 5 Books - The Results!

Thanks ajc.com readers! We asked you for your top 5 books, and you were all too happy to tell us here on Check It Out. We even took the question on the road with us to the AJC Decatur Book Festival this past weekend, and received even more response from people on the street.

As our favorite in-house self-proclaimed sociologist stated, “A theory called the Wisdom of Crowds contends that many voices together speak more clearly than the voice of a single ‘expert’.” Basically, what he means is that out of the 414 people who answered the ‘Top 5 Books’ call, a surprising number of you are fans of the same books. So, without further ado, your top books were:

  • “To Kill A Mockingbird” by Harper Lee
  • Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling
  • “Gone With The Wind” by Margaret Mitchell
  • “The Kite Runner” by Khaled Hosseini
  • “Pride & Prejudice” by Jane Austen

Rounding out the top 10 were the Bible, Lord of the Rings trilogy, “The Great Gatsby”, “Jane Eyre” and “The Catcher In The Rye”. What do you think? Did any (or all) of your picks make it to the top 10? Were you inspired to read something new from this list?
