When the economy gets tough, the smart consumer finds ways to make a dollar holla and Mr. Cheapskatin’ will show you how. He’ll write about scouting the best deals at the pump and how to get the best dining deals. He’ll also ask for tips and you may be able to show Mr. Cheapskatin’ a thing or two.
“To me, saving money is fun, which allows for the occasional spending binge and provides a warm blanket of financial security,” writes our new blogger.
His devotion to keeping more dollars in his pocket has enabled him to put two kids through college, with a third entering the pipeline, and avoid (for the time being, anyway) a full-time job. But he still enjoys life - albeit frugally.

Your Top 5 Books - The Results!

Thanks ajc.com readers! We asked you for your top 5 books, and you were all too happy to tell us here on Check It Out. We even took the question on the road with us to the AJC Decatur Book Festival this past weekend, and received even more response from people on the street.
As our favorite in-house self-proclaimed sociologist stated, “A theory called the Wisdom of Crowds contends that many voices together speak more clearly than the voice of a single ‘expert’.” Basically, what he means is that out of the 414 people who answered the ‘Top 5 Books’ call, a surprising number of you are fans of the same books. So, without further ado, your top books were:

What are your top 5 books? Tell us now!

The AJC Decatur Book Festival is coming up! To celebrate, we’re asking our readers about their favorite books.
Whether you’re a bibliophile, or you only pick up a book once in a blue moon, everyone has a few favorite titles. These might range from murder mysteries to comic books; romance novels to cookbooks; dictionaries to how-to books. Maybe it’s a book you read in high school or a book you’re reading to your kids right now. It might be a book you picked up at the airport duty-free shop to keep you busy on the long flight to Phoenix. Or maybe you’ve been swept up into the Harry Potter or “Twilight” series fads (we certainly have!).
Whatever the case may be, we want to hear your top 5 books of all time. The most popular top 5 mentioned in the comments below will be revealed in the AJC booth at the AJC Decatur Book Festival on August 29-31. This is a free event, so come check out which books Atlanta chose as their top 5!
