Black College All-America team announced

Greetings everyone. It’s been a long time, hope that everyone had a joyous holiday season and here’s wishing that everyone’s fine in ‘09.

The Sheridan Broadcast Network has released its Black College All-America team and it includes two players from Black College champion Grambling and one from Atlanta University Center school Morehouse. Check out the full story and see the entire team by clicking here.

Hampton, Jackson State and South Carolina State each had three players named to the 24-man squad while Prairie View’s Henry Frazier III, who led his team to the program’s best record in 44 years, was named coach of the year.

Tennessee State senior Javarris Williams, one of the two running backs on the Black College All-America team, will compete in Saturday’s 84th annual East-West Shrine Game in Houston.

Williams will be joined on the East squad by Tiger teammate Cecil Newton and Stillman’s Sammie Lee Hill. The East will be led by former NFL and college coach Bobby Ross, who led Georgia Tech to the 1990 national title and led the San Diego Chargers to the Super Bowl following the 1994 season.

Good to see this blog has returned!! As a Tennessee State fan, it’s good to see some Tigers on the All American team. Still wish they had made the playoffs.

That should be a good game between the east and the west, with all that talent, but I have to say I believe the east will win. They have a slight edge with Williams and having Bobby Ross coach the team.

All-America team looks solid from top to bottom. There were something other QBs who had good seasons, but I don’t think they measure up to what Jacary Atkinson accomplished at Tuskegee. There could be minor debates at other positions, but for the most part this team is solid and strong.
