Things are looking good at Morehouse

For those who haven’t been paying attention, Morehouse has turned things around under coach Rich Freeman.

The Maroon Tigers finished their regular season Saturday with a 58-55 overtime victory over Kentucky State. With the win, Morehouse finished with a 6-4 record, securing its second straight winning season.

More importantly, the Maroon Tigers secured second place in the SIAC behind unbeaten Tuskegee. Morehouse, Albany State and Fort Valley each finished with records of 6-3 in the SIAC, but Morehouse defeated Albany and Fort Valley during the regular season.

“We went from tenth place to fourth place last year, now to second,” Freeman said in a story in Sunday’s AJC. “There’s only one more place to go.”

Kudos to R. Freeman and the Maroon Tiger Squad. Morehouse College places VERY LITTLE emphasis on football, so to finish with a 6-4 record in the SIAC is an extreme accomplishment. I wonder…is the QB returning? What about the top receivers? Last, what was the score in Columbus against Tuskegee? Was the game competitive?

FBD,

Morehouse led at halftime against Tuskegee before losing 42-27. Several Maroon Tigers are expected to return next season, so I don’t think this will be a one-shot deal.

Good job Morehouse. And man has NC A & T fell off or what?!? My Alma Mater TSU is still making noise in the OVC and hopefully can win a playoff game or two this year.

Things are a little rough at A&T right now. There was a coaching change a few weeks ago and hopefully the Aggies can get going in the right direction. As for TSU, I’ve heard a few people say that this might be the year the Tigers could make some noise in the playoffs. We’ll have to wait and see.

Is there a chance Morehouse get an at large bid to the big tournament.I know Tuskegee will get an automatic bid and I was wondering if another school from the SIAC would get one. Also FVSC head football coach resigned today.

Were it not for the Turkey Day Classic, Tuskegee would most likely be receiving a NCAA playoff bid. Due to the fact that the TDC takes place after the NCAA playoff teams are selected, TU has to forego the playoffs. Basically, TU has decided that a $200K + payday is more important than making a playoff appearance.

Yes Playoffs. Yes Albany will represet the SIAC as Always. Yes Albany will represent well in the D-II playoffs. Throw the records and win streaks out the window and play ball. Brackets are where you test your mental and not cheerish a winning streak….priceless.

The Tuskegee Golden Tigers defeated Lane College on Saturday November 8th for their 26th Consecutive Football victory.

The announced Homecoming crowd was an astounding 31,302 people.

There are many people commenting on HBCU football. Many people are adamant about their teams but the facts are Tuskegee is the defending National Black Champions and they are undefeated this year. They are riding a TWENTY SIX (26) game winning streak. It is the longest winning streak of any football team in United States of America.

The Tuskegee Golden Tigers are the best HBCU team in the WORLD.

Why did Albany get the bid instead of Morehouse? The Huuse defeated Albany and finished second in SIAC to Tuskegee. What’s the deal here?

Albany State got the bid, because the SIAC administration favors Albany State. Albany State is going based upon its historical dominance in the SIAC, not on the merits of the performance this year. If a bid to the playoffs were based upon merit and performance records, Morehouse would be in the playoffs, without question. Morehouse has the awesome burden of proving itself as a major contender in the SIAC. Unfortunately, it appears that it is an uphill battle. But just like the world changed on 11/4/08, so will the “old thinking” of the ancient mummies who determine who gets the playoff bid in the future. Great job, Morehouse!! Keep up the good work!
