S.C. State continues to dominate

Apologies everyone for the delay in updating the blog.

As you can probably imagine, it has been an interesting week in this world that we live in. We have witnessed a historic event, an event that supercedes any and everything that has taken place this week in Black College sports.

Back on the field, South Carolina State continued its winning ways Thursday night by giving Howard the beatdown in a 56-0 shutout. How bad was the beating? The Bulldogs led 42-0 at halftime and cruised the rest of the way.

Sheridan Black College Poll: Tuskegee continues to hold the top spot followed by S.C. State in this week’s poll. Here’s the entire poll:

Team/Record

  1. Tuskegee/9-0

  2. South Carolina State/8-2 (including Thursday’s game)

  3. Grambling State/7-2

  4. Prairie View/7-1

  5. Bethune-Cookman/6-2

  6. Tennessee State/7-2

  7. Southern/5-4

  8. Shaw/7-3

  9. Morgan State/6-3

  10. Florida A&M/6-3

Best of the CIAA: The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) will honor its all-conference teams and its players of the year today in Durham, N.C. (See the all-conference team here). Saturday, the conference championship game will match Eastern Division champ Elizabeth City State against Western Champ Shaw.

Big weekend in the SWAC: Alabama A&M, tied with Jackson State atop the Eastern Division, faces Prairie View in a key interdivisional game. Jackson State plays at Alabama State and will host Alabama A&M next week in a game that will likely decide the Eastern title. In the West, Grambling’s on top and faces 1-8 Arkansas-Pine Bluff this weekend.

This week’s picks: I’ll try my luck at picking some of this weekend’s top Black College games. Let me know what you think, and weigh in with your picks of the week.

Delaware State/Winston-Salem State

S.C. State continues to prove they are the best Black College football team. Regardless of who you are playing, 56-0 is impressive.

What’s up everyone?

Looks like we have a few SCSU fans on board today and that’s a good thing. Did any of you check out the game last night either in person or somewhere on TV?

Think the ‘Dogs can win their last two and finish the regular season on a roll?

And Mr. Rave, man let’s hope this is the week Hampton’s streak comes to an end. It won’t be easy against B-CC, but maybe home-cooking in Hampton will do the trick

Rattler Party??? If I remember correctly, they make belts and boots out of rattlers!! Get up for the Bulldogs…Everybody get up!! The CIAA and SIAC can’t compare to the MEAC…the closet thing might be the SWAC (should be WACK Conference)! Tuskegee couldn’t beat SC State waterboys. Anywhere, anytime!! The REAL DOGS; we lift our hind leg to urinate!!

Leo, I did not check out the game because I dont have ESPNU at home :-( But I was keeping up with the score, and I do feel that this year we will win Div 1-AA. Appalachian State can forget about it. See you in Chattanooga. Get the bus ready fellow Bulldogs.

Let’s keep it real… Tuskegee has a schedule so soft, my little boys Pee Wee league team could run off 9 in a row. Step your game up and play somebody… SC State losses were to division I-A schools. Someone needs to get a grasp on the “STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE” concept. ‘Dem Dawgs’ should be on top of the SBN based on our MEAC play alone. GET UP FOR THE BULLDOGS!!!…HOLLA
