Tuskegee rallies, Albany State rolls

Tuskegee won its 22nd straight game Saturday in its victory over Morehouse. And it was the fifth straight win for the Golden Tigers in the long-running series between the teams.

But the Maroon Tigers didn’t go down without a fight in the 42-27 loss. In fact, the boys from the ATL held a 14-7 halftime lead against the defending black college champs, but I guess the champs found a way to come back while not playing their best - and they received a little turnover help from Morehouse according to the AJC’s Tom Stinson, who covered the matchup in Columbus, Ga. (read the story).

The Golden Tigers will take their streak into Saturday’s SIAC showdown against Albany State, which tuned up for the contest with a 34-20 homecoming victory over Clark Atlanta.

Check out some of the other black college football results from Saturday:

• Grambling did its thing on the road in its win over Alabama A&M.

• Delaware State bounced back from its MEAC loss to highly-touted Hampton to defeat Bethune-Cookman on the road.

• South Carolina State remained perfect in the MEAC with its close victory over Norfolk State.

Alcorn State defeated Miss. Valley and Jackson State upended Ark.-Pine Bluff in other SWAC action.

Morgan State routed N.C. A&T in a game that’s important because it helped the Bears even their MEAC record at 1-1. But it also gave me an opportunity to give a shout out to my mom, who’s celebrating her golden anniversary as a graduate of Morgan State. Go Bears and go mom!

So, what HBCU game did you attend over the weekend and what weere your impressions? Let us know what you think.
