Are you ready for swimsuit season?

Well, it’s coming. Whether we’re ready or not.

Now that the water restrictions for neighborhood pools have been lifted and the school year is winding down, there’s no way around it it, it’s time to switch from parkas to swimsuits.

Obviously those baggy sweaters are good for more than just keeping warm. After months of comfort food, and a bit of overindulging, many of us need to deal with those extra pounds that snuck up during the chilly winter months.

Luckily, these pristine sun-filled days are energizing. I find myself out more, away from the fridge, whether it’s going for a walk or puttering in the garden. I also find myself craving healthier foods like fresh fruit and grilled fish and chicken, so that helps.

But there’s still that bathing suit that needs to be tried on or updated and I am doing my best to avoid that inevitable encounter.

What do you do to get ready for swimsuit season…or do you just not care? What are your best ways to quickly get in shape? How much of it is exercise and how much is diet?

In December I start binge eating and I start barfing up my food around February. By May I usually lose 20-25 lbs.

I haven’t been ready for swimsuit season for 7 years!

Maybe next year. This year I am finally giving it a 100% shot to get rid of the pudge.

I am certainly ready for swimsuit season. Where can I go to see the goodlookin’ chicks in their swimsuits? Bikinis, thongs, fannyflossers - can’t wait!

I am almost ready to be out in a suit, but still working on it. I started doing WW almost 6 weeks ago and have lost fat while building muscle which changes how you look in next to nothing. Not going to get a suit for at least another month.
Workouts include, an hour plus of cardio a day plus weights. Push ups and abs are generally done in the morning to jump start the day. Staying focused and motivated keeps me going. I don’t want to be a fat mommy out at the pool.

I started tracking my calorie consumption and exercise at The Daily Plate website. www.thedailyplate.com It has plenty of info on the foods we eat everyday. Just by being careful about what I take in vs. what I burn off, I’ve lost 6 pounds in 3 weeks. It’s really fun to do; I’ve gotten my friends to join up (it’s free).

This is the 2100 century, look around.., the majority of us are babyboomers and either overweight or obese. Obviously we care very little about our looks or health.

In fact, my beer belly is bigger than ever now! ( . ) And I’m looking forward to showing it off this summer, might even forego the back shave for an accumulative effect.

See you at the beach!!

I am ALWAYS ready for swimsuit season, but my body isn’t.

I have reached a point in life, where having fun and enjoying the moment is more important. I will never be a size 6, or 8, nor do I care to be. I like me the way I am, and I enjoy my life.

Anxiously awaiting HOT weather.

The proper question should be “Is the swimsuit season ready for me?” The first public viewing of these lily white legs may permanently blind innocent onlookers.

I’m a fat, ugly woman & I simply don’t care. I feel I’m way beyond this phony obsession with looks. I’d LIKE to be a bit thinner for health reasons but I feel no need to be bone-thin or to have a “pretty” face.

I have done WW for years (lifetime member!). In February, I started working out 6 days a week and today I am starting the whiteout “diet” - no white bread, no white pasta. We will be in Maui June 1 and I will be ready for a bathing suit by then.

I drew the line last year when the only suits that looked somewhat decent on me were the Grandma suits (skirt attached). I was 30lbs overweight. I have lost it and never looked back. Instead of looking for a suit that hides things, now I look for one that accentuates me. I have twice the energy now to chase my kids around.

30lbs is a lot of weight, pick a 30lb barbell at the gym and carry it around with you for a few mins. Imagine walking up stairs etc. That was me everyday. I used to say I can exercise because of having kids, I now exercise with them, especially bike riding.

Can’t wait to see the whales in their bathing suits. I know a woman who was so fat that when she laid on the beach, greenpeace would try to roll her back in the water!

It’s hard for me to understand how people just don’t care. I know I’ve taken it to the extreme with competing in bodybuilding contests but for people to not care at all what they look like I think is simply untrue. It does take some hard work but like with anything other endeavor you would think people would have at least some pride in their appearence. Aren’t people interested in what their partner thinks of their appearence? One doesn’t have to be ripped but I would think toned would be something to strive for.

Bruce, let me explain why I, for one, don’t care. I’m very involved in my job, religion, animal rescue groups & hobbies. I have no time to stand in front of my mirror & obsess. In fact, I pity those who do. What empty lives they must have & what poor self-esteem to base their sense of worth on anything so superficial. Oh I DO have basic pride in my appearance; I’m neat & clean. And no, I don’t have a partner nor do I want one.
