10/17: Glenn Beck jumps to Fox News Channel, Steve & Vikki raise 420K for breast cancer research
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Glenn Beck, the conservative talker heard on WGST-AM locally, is jumping TV homes from CNN Headline News to Fox News Channel.
He will join Fox in the first quarter of 2009, according to Mediaweek.com. He will air at 5 p.m.
He was CNN Headline News’ second biggest draw behind Nancy Grace. He averaged 376K in the third quarter at 7 p.m., 487K at 9 p.m.
Obviously, given Beck’s take on issues, he’ll be right at home at Fox News.
-Steve & Vikki today hosted a “Breakfast for Champions” with 98 breast-cancer survivors at WSB, raising nearly $420,000 for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Greater Atlanta Affiliate. B98.5 FM will continue to accept donations today at 404-897-2222.
The morning hosts interviewed Maya Angelou, Dr. Phil, Suzanne Somers, Monica Pearson and Barbara Dooley.
-On Monday or over the weekened, I will post more complete Arbitron ratings numbers for the final summer book in Atlanta using paper diaries. (Atlanta is now being measured via the people meter, a more accurate way to gauge actual listening, as opposed to reported listening. The first monthly numbers come out November 5 and expect some major shifts.)
Steve & Vikki opened at B98.5 at No. 4, improving significantly upon predecessor Kelly & Alpha although the station’s overall performance did not follow.
And here’s the overall top 10 for 25-54 year olds:
1- V-103 (up slightly)
2- Kiss 104.1 ((up significantly)
3- WSB-AM (down a smidge)
4- River (up solidly)
5- Praise (up a huge amount)
6 (tie) - B98.5 (down quite a bit) and Grown Folks (down)
8- Smooth Jazz (up a monstrous amt)
9- Fish (up big)
10- Kicks 101.5 (down a bit)
Q100 took a big dip and so did 94.9/The Bull. 790/The Zone had a strong book as well.
