790 the Zone is run by a group of greedy, arrogant, ignorant jerks. 790 is a sinking ship filled with loud, ignorant, washed-up, wannabe celebs! Leak is better than the Zone and should have left long ago on his own. Zone management sucks - Maziar is a jerk who is on his last leg, Edgar is an idiot, and Steak & Salsa are greedy buffoons! The Zone ship is going down fast; thank God Leak got off!

I think this may be the first of many cost cutting moves in Atlanta sports talk radio. I hear revenues are really hurting. Probably the next to go will be Brandon Adams, he is awful and that show has horrid ratings. The Zone should move Nick and Chris back to mid days and should put Jamaal Anderson who has been filling in periodically in the morning with Wolvy and I guess Steak is going to be there no mattter what, and have Beau Bock in a couple days a week.

That’s odd. I don’t think it was financial, because Home Team couldn’t have been making that much. I also assumed that he was well liked by staff and management. Did something happen? I can’t believe they would cut him loose and keep Brandon and Woolvy. That doesn’t make much sense.

I usually keep 790 on in the car and listen to it throughout the day. I heard the intro for the Afternoon Saloon come on and I just heard Mike’s and Chuck’s names. Then Mike came on and introduced him and Chuck and never mentioned Hometeam. I immediately went to the website and saw that his photo was no longer next to Chuck and Mike and was not under the Personalities either. I listened to the show for another 10 minutes maybe and then turned off the radio. It also seems to me that this is not about budgets. Not only could Hometeam work behind the scenes but I really liked him on air also. The thing that really irritaes me about 790 is when someone is let go, they just go about their business as if the person never existed. Is it like that on other radio stations? The same thing happened with Matt Churnoff - one day he was there and the next day he was not. No comments made. For the few minutes that I listened to the show today, Mike and Chuck did not sound right, their conversation sounded forced and I find it incredible that you are making jokes with a person one day and the next day you act like it never happened. Mike was making a comment here and there yesterday and Hometeam got back at him a couple of times so my initial thought was that those two had gotten into it. Whatever the reason, they have made a huge mistake with letting him go. Gee, I wonder what is going on over at 680…

I can’t believe that 790 cut Hometeam. If anyone on that show had to go it should have been Mike Bell. Even though I like Mike he is the one on that show that knows the least about sports. He even admits himself that he knows nothing about basketball. Also, Brandon and Wolvy have the worst show that I have ever heard. I have to tune into 680 and listen to “The Herd” during Brandon and Wolvy’s show because they are both horrible. 790 should have cut one of those two and put Hometeam in that slot because he is a very knowledgeable guy. Now I want listen to 790 at all.

This really sucks! Hometeam was the best. I think he was a rising star on that station and they cut him loose. I know they are having problems over there with revenues but really how much was he making? They should dump Brandon Adams - he is horrible.

Hometeam is the one guy on the radio who genuinely cares about teams in this town now out. What a joke! All the other personalities hate the teams in this town and center all of their discussion on negativity. I hear the 790 the Zone is losing money by the minute and with the economy they can’t recover. I wish Hometeam the best and hope his intelligent discourse is heard on a better station and a bigger platform. I hope he goes to a big station like V-103.

790 has made a big mistake with releasing Hometeam. Great air personality, he rooted for our local teams and he was often the voice of reason in the buffoonery that is Mike Bell and the know it all Chuck Oliver. The show was horrible yesterday. And instead of getting rid of Hometeam, you should have given him his own show from 11-1 because I cannot take the arguing and talking over each other that is Brandon and Woolvy. Good luck to you, Hometeam and like stupid move said, hopefully you will go to a bigger and better station. And for those of you who liked Matt Churnoff, he is now on in the mornings at 680 The Fan, this was his first week.

Fire Steak Shapiro (at the very least get him the hell off the air. He is hated)

Fire Beau Bock. He’s a nice guy and all, but he offers nothing new to any conversation.

Fire Brandon Adams. He’s just awful, come on.

Fire Jeff Woolverton. He has to have the worst radio voice that I have ever heard. If I want to hear Joe Pesci speak and stutter, I’ll rent My Cousin Vinny.

Fire Chuck Oliver. His act is old and tired. Enough.

Stop broadcasting The Two Live Stews. Is it really smart for a station to have a show that is racially hostile to half of its’ audience? I wouldn’t think it would be prudent.

Fire Sandra Golden. She is God awful and NO ONE gives a damn about her opinion. NO ONE.

Okay, so you are left with Nick and Chris in the mornings. Have a show with Dennis Scott and Sam Radin in the afternoon. And Drive time with Mike Bell and Jamaal Anderson. Oh, and hire Vince Cellini too.

Is that so fricking hard to figure out? You know what? Fire yourself while you’re at it Saltzman.

790 is a great station but off the top of my head I can think of so many more people to let go of before Hometeam, I’ve always considered him a rising star and was happy when he got on the Afternoon Saloon.

I agree with Crude re: Sandra Golden (nails on a blackboard every time she speaks), Woolverton (I was shocked when he and Adams got their own weekday show; B-team all the way) and the Stews. Are they the only show bringing in money? This Sporting News deal requiring them to be on from 1-4 is awkward, forcing the Zone to bookend it with one two-hour show (why even bother coming in to work two hours?) and the three-hour Saloon, which should be four hours to go head-to-head with Buck and Kincade. (And give me Fox Sports over Sporting News’ syndicated content any day.)

I like Steak on the air precisely because he is so polarizing; you need that. Mike Bell is kind of annoying, but the truth is Mayhem isn’t the same without him. Nick and Chris are great personalities, but maybe they should go back to middays. Brandon Adams is okay, a decent third wheel for either Mayhem or a Chris-Nick midday show. I’ve often felt Chuck Oliver was underutilized, so I’m glad he’s on a regular show.

Pound for pound the Zone has by far the best personalities—although 680’s looking up thanks to hiring Chernoff. Maybe they just need a stronger daytime schedule. Brandon and Woolvie for two hours, the Stews and a Hometown-free Saloon aren’t going to cut it.

Once again, 790 shows that they are a bunch of clueless bumbling idiots that can’t figure out who they are what they want to be. That station reminds me of some companies that are constantly re-orging just for the sake of doing so. Steak Shapiro is god awful, and he should fire himself from his radio position and just sit in the background like Salza and drink his champaigne and eat his filet mignon. Sandra is worthless bimbo with the most obnoxious laugh I’ve ever heard. Sandra, news for you, nobody cares what you think about anything, especially when it comes to that vapid and insipid entertainment segment you do every morning.

The mid-day show with Brandon “Fat Mouth” Adams and Jeff “raspy” Wolverton is the most atrocious show I have heard on Atlanta radio in my entire life on any station (with the possible exception of that god awful Ike guys show early sunday morning). They sound like a bunch of amateurs. There are public access shows that are better done, more entertaining, and informative than that peice of crap of a program.

The Stews are just race baiting morons that have the collective knowledge of a retarded squirrell.

Overall, that station is a joke, as is their counter part in St. Louis (I have family up there and had the unfortunate experience of trying to listen to that station up there — same worthless garbage as the zone down here), and hopefully they will declare bankruptcy before long and go away forever.

790 has been plummeting for years. They fell asleep at the wheel and have let 680 begin to dominate them. All the sales dollars in the world can’t keep their operation in St. Louis afloat. heard rumblings about David Pollack trying to join 790. Another reflex move by 790 if that happens. Heard him a few weeks ago and he obviously has no radio experience and would really fit in with all the strip bars and stuff 790 promotes. Good Luck. Pollack should have mroe class and go where the names like Reeves, Mazzone, Mortensen, Herbstreit and others reside.

From PURELY a sportstalk standpoint, the Zone doesn’t realize what they lost in Hometeam. Other than Chernoff, Oliver, Adams, and Belue, our stations lack any home bred guys with a true passion for Atlanta sports. I know that this is a city of transplants. However, as a native, I like to hear people who have true passion for Atlanta sports. Most of these other guys on both stations have contrived passion (Kincade, Steak) for the teams or blantantly disrespect our city with their obnoxious desire to cover teams from their hometowns or alma maters (Perry). Dimino and Cellini are okay. Hometeam’s departure gives us more of the same…a lack of true coverage for “homers.” When you go to Pittsburg, you here the voice of Pittsburg. New York fans could care less about what goes on down here, unless it directly impacts their teams. You get the picture. I hope Hometeam gets on somewhere. However the Zone took another step in the wrong direction.

WOW…I love 790 but this move is just plain bad. I hope that there is a reason behind the scenes that we don’t know about. Come on Rodney, you’ve got to find out!!!! You’re our only hope!!! I listened yesterday and it was weird but I assumed that Hometizzle was just out for the day. I did find it weird that they never mentioned him. I also wonder if other stations do the whole “he never existed” routine as well.

I have to agree with most of my cohorts here.

1. The switch to Sporting News sucks!!!! Fox isn’t that much better.

2. The Stews have just gotten old.

3. Losing Chernoff was a bad move and he does make 680 better but still not good enough to listen to.

4. Jamal Anderson is crap.

5. But the mid-day show is even worse.

Hometeam may have been a nice guy but I was not a good communicator on air. His syntax was clumsy and he often made his statements more complex than needed. 1 or 2 years ago when he was previewing a random weeknight Braves game where there was a threat of rain, he pulled out a fact that only 1 Braves game had been rained out in the Turner Field history. He shouold have finished right there as really nothing more needed to said. However, he decided to add this “So it looks like rain has not done a good job of keeping games down at the Ted.”

Home team had some weird voice sort of like he talked thru his nose.The Zone has lost it.There is nothing there anymore,Mike Bell tries hard to be funny because he really knows nothig about sports>Chuck Oliver lost credibility with me in the very first week he was there.He mad a mention of a certain player being drafted and the guy was only going to be a senior,(no he never even considered leaving school early)Chuck ain’t as smart as he thinks he is.The Zone is money grabbing from sponsors and the sponsors are pulling out, thus the cutbacks.

Jumpin jehosifat! Hometeam no longer with 790? This is perhaps the most moronic move I’ve heard of in quite some time! Almost as oafish as buying a full sized SUV with gas prices as high as they are, and you have no source of income! Hometeam has become a rapid success and to just cut him loose is just asinine! Business is business and fact is fact. The fact is, there is something “stanky” going on there at 790! For 8 years hometeam put in good, solid hard work for 790; from an intern to becoming an on air personality, Hometeam is a versatile person who could work behind the scenes and on the air. That’s your Jordon right there. How in the world do you cut Hometeam when he could fill in a multitude of other positions? From a business perspective, you got more bang for your buck with someone like him. That’s why we know that it was not truly a financial move. 790 committed a dereliction of common sense and exercised poor judgment. It would behoove 790 to get Homteam back, and get rid of Brandon Adams and Sandra as the competition will no doubt pick Homteam up. As expressed before, I’m confident that he will move into bigger and better opportunities than 790. Well, time to make a bologna sandwich and time to take 790 off the radio preset and move on to 680…..

790 sucks and has since they split up the bottom line and the original mayhem line up years ago. 680 is much better with Belue, Chernoff, and Kincaid. I am not much of a fan of Perry or Rude, but still prefer them to Steak. But they are the flagship statio of Georgia Tech so at least they have the 12 fans of that school listening.

Speaking of awful, Dennis Scott is just painful to listen to. He tries to use words that he doesn’t know how to pronounce or use in a sentence. Brandon and Wolvey are awful too. I’m a 790 guy, but between Mayhem and the Saloon (ie, Brandon ‘n Wolvey & the Stews), I have to go to 680. Cowherd is pretty damn good even though he’s not local. I will miss Hometeam. I feel like I witnessed him growing up on the station. When he started (as the sports update guy), he was awful, but he turned into a solid contributor.

The key guys on the station truly are Nick, Chris, Bell and Oliver. Steak is what he is. He needs to be on there, but he’s not exactly a good sports talk guy. The Stews make me laugh sometimes, but p** me off too many times.

790 is going down the drain. Nick and Chris are just average - they sound like they “mail it in” too often. Steak is his usual horrible self; hard to listen to and sounds like he’s doing a show for only himself. Sandra has an annoying voice and adds NOTHING to that show.

The 11-1 show is about the worst thing I’ve heard in a long time. What programming genius thought these 2 had talent? The Stews are all about black power and add little in the way of sports talk. Mike’s jokes are getting old. What is he 40, and still talking about chasing college girls and waking up in vomit?! Chuck is a one trick pony with a grating Southern drawl and a pompous attitude.

Hometeam was one of the few bright spots on an otherwise crappy sports station. I turn to 680 when I can and have gotten into The Herd. We do need another sports station. How can we be a large market and have only these 2 choices?!

Scrap the station and start anew. This time focus on your LISTENERS and not yourselves.

Hometeam has been robbed and so has the listener! How about those great commercials with his dad-they were really touching. With so much trash on TV and the radio (790 the zone) it was refreshing to hear a good guy be informed and have true passion for the teams in town. I bet his replacement is a former Falcon or Bulldog. They are big time jock sniffers from what I hear. Go Hometeam and go Hawks.

The show with Brandon and Woolvey(sic?) is the ABSOLUTE WORST show that I have ever heard. These guys have no talent at all. Colin Herd of 680 has an inflated ego but I tolerate him much better than Brandon and Woolvey. I hope that the higher ups a 790 read what the people have been saying in these blogs. It is almost universal that everyone is saying that Hometeam should still be on 790 and that Brandon, Woolvey and Steak need to go. Mike Bell needs to grow up. Here is a 40 year old guy who talks about 17 year old girls, drinking until he’s sloppy drunk and who makes corny jokes the whole show. Chuck needs to know that nobody likes a know it all. I hate Kincaid on 680 but I might have to go that route if 790 doesn’t get Hometeam back. 790 LISTEN TO YOUR LISTENERS!!!

Good luck Hometeam, this could be a blessing in disguise for you. I’m glad I’m not the only on out there who can’t believe that trainwreck that is the 11-1 show. It is the worst show ever on Atl sports talk radio. That is saying something for a town that has seen Harmon Wages, Randy Blake, Norman Arey, Arum and The Kickstand, and Max Howell have shows that were awful, but better than Brandon Adams and Wolverton. Wolverton is salvageable, but Adams is unlistenable. Keep making the changes something is bound to work.

I just left the falcons game it it was great. Hometeam was honest while supporting the team saying that he wanted Glenn Dorsey but could accept Matt Ryan as the qb. Ryan looked good and so did Michael Turner. He said that this was a winnable game and what do you know…the Falcons won. Too bad we won’t have a real Falcons fan break down the game this week. Awful decision by 790. I hope hometizzle lands on TV far away from the zone. Steak and that morning show could use a guy with a brain like Hometeam. I hope he lands at 680 the fan.

Seems like the Zone is back to the old swith-aroo that happens every other year at the station. I hope that Hometeam gets out of the sports scene and gets into larger arenas. Here’s the story … Tuesday’s big announcement is … the Zone has hired David Pollack to replace Hometeam. Not only is this an attempt to ditch the “urban” label with an all-white cast, but an obvious attempt to use Pollack to bail the Zone out of financial trouble.

They are hoping to ride Pollack all the way to the bank. Unfortunately, they’ve tried this before … remember Chuck Smith. Yes, all Zone listeners have heard what happens when they take a local celebrity and force him into a situation in which he does NOT fit. So, get ready to welcome a married, born-again Christen with NO radio experience into the Afternoon Saloon - home of Mike Bell, pub crawls, MILFs, etc. Nothing against Pollack, he’s a stand-up guy with a great story, but he does NOT belong in the Zone lineup, especially sitting beside Mike Bell.

Furthermore, how will Tech and Tech fans respond to their “flagship station” obviously kissing up to UGA. Yes – the “home” of the GA Tech Yellow Jackets now touts David Pollack. Clearly, Tech football will get a fair shake … yeah right.

And, how dumb do they think UGA fans are? Are they really supposed to dump all of their advertising budgets into the sinking ship that is the Zone just because of Pollack?

This is yet another poorly thought-out move by the Zone (as usual), and Hometeam is the casualty. As many have said, he was – by far – the most redeeming member of the Zone’s cast of characters, the ONLY one who truly cares about local sports, and the most balanced of them all. His absence will be felt, and I look forward to supporting his next gig.

Hometeam – on to bigger and better things bro! And there it is!

Other than spelling Christian incorrectly, the Insider made some VERY valid points.

The Zone mistreated Hometeam. They’ve disrespected Tech. They think UGA fans are stupid. And, they’re trying to disassociate themselves with the “urban” community that helped make them successful.

I use to listen to the zone all the time, but I decided to boycott them during the whole embarassment that was Mike Vick and the ensuing coverage there of.

I will never list to the zone again as long as:

1) Those no talent hacks Brandom Adams and Wolverton have a regular weekly show on that station. Adams is a complete joke that sounds like he has a piece of food in his mouth whenever he’s talking. He brings nothing of substance or any unique insight. He’s just a fat a$$ that happened to grow up in this town — that qualifies you to be a radio host in this town now??? On top of that, he’s a damn fool that has some of the most rediculous oppinions or takes I’ve ever heard. Just some want to be know it all that is in utterly over his head. Wolverton isn’t much better, but he’s a tad bit more tolerable, just not as a regular host (maybe as a fill in/sub and doing other anccillary stuff — i.e. sideline work for Tech).

1. The two live stupids — Talk about worthless moronic programming with no redeeming value. This is the epitome of trash radio. They are both complete and utter morons. I highly doubt either one have IQ’s that breach the triple digit threshold. I’ve met 4 year old children that have a better command of the language and more knowledge then these two disgraceful race baiting bafoons.

If 790 ever wakes up and corrects these two eggregious errors, I may reconsider listening to them. Until them, I’m gone!

Yeah, the station should not have let Hometeam go. I may actually check out Buck and Kincaid now. Also, Mayhem in the AM isn’t a good show (at least with Steak). He is a very pompous, arrogant “personality” who is unbearable. I now tune to 680 the Fan in the morning to hear Matt back on the air. I can tolerate Brandon and Woolvey. I personaly like the Stews. Different type of show than typical Sports Talk show. You are probably going to either love or hate them. Thats my opinion.

FYI: It is probably contractual that they have to brand the network that is paying them

Typical 790…they let go the guys with ABILITY and keep the hacks and name droppers..I guessed that their “BIG ANNOUCEMENT” was the hiring of David Pollock or Jamal Anderson..Steak Shapiro has had a man crush on these two for years and I figured their ” guest hosts ” spots were try outs..I hate to see Brandon Leak go..we was one of the FEW hosts in Atlanta sports talk radio that KNEW the pasts of the local teams here..one reason among MANY that I find Steak Shapiro..annoying is that he thinks that Atlanta sports started when he came on the air here in the early 90s…everything that has happened is the greatest event, game, etc EVER in Atlanta..especially since I have lived here..you all DID NOT EXIST until I graced you with my overbearing self..thats the attitude he comes across with..I guess loyalty means NOTHING at 790…Chernoff and Hometeam, and Chris Cotter started as interns and worked up to on air slots and they all were shown the door..PLEASE dont put Jamal Anderson on a regular slot…hes Chuck Smith all over again..name dropping, let me tell you about my career, famous people I hang out with etc..it will grow OLD quick..I gave up on the Stews about last year..when they were embarassing their selfs with their over the top defense of Micheal Vick also the fact that they DONT prepare for their shows besides reading AJC-USA Today sports section headlines..tells me all I need to KNOW..if they dont take the time to make me listen..then I DONT..there are other options..its too bad because on tv they have a good presence…but you have to WORK and PREPARE more on radio..oh well Jim Rome is BACK on 1340..

It was OBVIOUS Hometeam did he research, made intelligent points and probably most importantly was a genuine sports fan. For once he was a voice not caught up in being “the guy” or being the top dog at the station. Brandon came to work every day, performed his job and performed it well. With decisions like this I SEE why you can’t even hear 790 after the sun goes down but oh well have fun as other stations pick up on your mistakes and smash you in the ratings. Hometeam has shown nothing but loyalty and dedication to the zone and all he received was “turn in you playbook” What angers me the most is that the was no reason and in which the manner of disrespect they showed Hometeam. It would be different if his performance was subpar, or he came in smellin like Kentucky’s finest sour mash. How do you suddenly get of the man who gave you almost a decade of hard work. Hometeam is exactly the kind of personality you want on a local show, one who supports all ot he ATL squads, not the Lakers or ,who you played for, but everyone, He supported every home team equally! Hence the name HOMETEAM He is the only man in the galaxy with Authentic Jamie Dukes Falcons, Dominique Wilkins UGA, John Salley GA Tech, and Jon Koncak Hawks Jerseys for God’s Sake. It is amazing how the zone gets rid of the intelligent well opinionated, educated guys like Chernoff and Tizzle and keep less talented others around. I guess Hometeam would still have his gig if he all he talked about was drinking beer, named dropped everybody he knew in the NFL,OR barked like a damn dog while murdering the English language. Nevertheless Hometeam will continue to rise. Thanks for the great commentary on air, trivia nights, intelligent dialogue, entertaining humor and a reason to listen to 790. I would say you will be missed but I know you will be heard from in a bigger and better format wherever you go. Maybe its a blessing because at least you no longer have to deal with MESHUGINAH’S in the front office AND THERE IT IS! So, Hometeam’s replacement is David Pollack. I bet 790’s logic was, Atlanta loves college football, 680 has Belue (a famous Georgia alum and college football junkie), and Georgia (according to some), is the biggest thing going in Atlanta sports. Therefore, it makes sense to hire David Pollack, right? Pair him with the “Kang” of College football and the “pointman” and entertainment guy Mike Bell, and you can compete against 680, right? Plus Pollack is homegrown. So, if you’re going to replace a home town guy, replace him with another hometown guy, who just so happened to play with the Bulldogs,right?

The problem is Hometeam was one of the best talents on the station. He was coherent. He represented the hometown guy that actually followed the hometown teams that aren’t based in Athens (Hawks, Braves, Falcons) and could give an informed opinion.

This smells of station favortism. Woolverton and Brandon Adams suck. However, they are in good with Steak. If Pollack had to be brought in, replace one of those awful guys with Hometeam. This was an awful move and sours me on our sportstalk stations. I understand that this is a college football hotbed. However, IMHO, there is a segment of this city that is underserved that would actually like to hear about pro sports as opposed to constant gibberjabber over minor league football. Hometeam actually brought that perspective and now he’s gone. And there it is…

For the Hawks fans out there (yes, there are Hawks fans out there), this is a shame, because The flagship station of the Hawks has no one who could speak intelligently about the hawks. I recall listening to Dimino talk for about 45 minutes about trading Josh Smith for the chance to draft Derrick Rose. Duh! That was an impossibility based on the NBA’s CBA rules (prior to him re-signing a deal). I once heard Chernoff talk about trading Josh Smith for Kobe… about 2 years ago when Smith wasn’t even eligible for a contract extension. When I challenged him, he claimed a Hawks official told him they were thinking about it. That would have made Smith the first NBA player to get a contract extension a year before being eligible for a contract extension. In other words, not possible. Woolvy seems to think he knows basketball but he mostly says the same things you read with an “Insider” subscription to ESPN.com. I doubt B. Adams has ever paid for a Hawks ticket (he seems to thrive on using his media credential to attend sports events). Steak claims he’s a big Hawks fan but mostly he likes to be seen in the arena and complain about our former GM. 680 The Fan does an exceptional job promoting the Thrashers, while The Zone has always treated the Hawks as an after-thought. Home Team was the only guy who came across as a genuine fan and not as if covering the Hawks was a professional task or a personal burden. Even though Brandon supported Mike Woodson (YUCK), at least he had true love for the Highlight Factory.

I agree with Astro Joe. As a Hawks fan, it sucks. To a lesser degree, it’s bad if you root for the Falcons and Braves. Hometeam gave good insight, yet made a connection because he rooted for the Hometeam. I know we’re a city filled with transplants and people that root for other teams. However, their are still Atlanta citizens here that root for Atlanta teams. To me, our sportstalk scene is filled with guys who either root for northern teams or are deeply intrenched in the college football scene. There’s not much middle groud for some of us who enjoy the local sports team and hearing news about them.

I’ve been a zone listener for over ten years but after this, I’m turning over to 680. I think that Hometeam being dismissed has alot to do with Mike Bell not liking the fact that Hometeam was willing to stand up to him and they wanted to make room for David. The David part I understand but get rid of B. Adams or Woolvy they’re both awful. Hometeam was a great personality that added a different flavor to the show and to 790. After all the BS you guys have lost me and many others.

790 The Zone has steadily declined in their quality and ratings. Steak Shapiro makes it so obvious to anyone with a brain that the only reason he is in the game is because he brought the “ball”. His own employees Nick and Chris, take shots at him everday. He is pompous and that’s all there is to it. Every time I think Brandon Adams can’t top a rediculous argument he proves me wrong. Do you really believe some of things that come out of your mouth? (If the Chargers win the Super Bowl it won’t mean as much because Brady is injured) On to my point. Hometeam was educated and classy so it figures the Zone would get rid of him. Hometeam will land on his feet. Too bad the same can’t be said for the rest of the Zone. Steak we will raise money to send you on an extended vacation so we dont have to hear about your meals,diapers. THINGS I LEARNED!!! Mayhem was great with Nick, Chris and Jam.

I quit listening to 790 when I finally had a belly full of the 2 live Stews. I will not listen until they either tone down all the racest BS they spew nearly every day or they are gone. They both have so much to offer with their knowledge of sports but I will not listen to the Zone of use their sponsors or ESPN for that matter as long as they make everything black and white. Just sports baby and I’m gone!

Brandon was a rising talent at the station and you’d think he’d be treated a lot better after giving so much time to 790. There are other moves that would have served the station much better such as getting rid of Sandra Golden (that “Grind” segment crap she does in the morning is awful… Who cares who was on Letterman last night!) and Mike Bell (his act is beginning to wear thin). If you really wanted a boost to the station, they should have paired Hometeam with either Jamal Anderson or Dennis Scott and given them a show together.

Did you have to get rid of Hometeam? You could have taken off the awful show from 11-1 and put Hometeam on with someone else. I can’t believe after 8 years of what appears to be dedicated service that he is just dismissed so callously.

And I listened to the show yesterday. Exactly what is it that David Pollack is suppose to be adding to the show? Mike sounds forced and Chuck sounds like he is not happy about what is going on.

Hometeam is going to get another gig somewhere if he chooses to do so and I hope he runs your station straight into the ground. I have changed the radio in my car to 680, as well as at work. You got rid of Chernoff and he sounds great in the morning on 680.

Bring back the Bottom Line and Jim Rome!!!! Nick and Chris we the best back in the day. Bo and Steak were always horrible and I can take or leave Mike Bell. Chuck just seems to grate on everyone he works withs nerves.

WOW! It’s a shame 790thezone has made such poor decisions lately. Hometeam was one of the brighter stars on the channel. However, thezone is still the leader in sports talk in Atlanta right now. The way they’re headed, that could change very soon. Domino is probably the most knowledgeable personality, but since his move to the morning, he seems intimidated by Nick and Steak. When he is by himself or with an underling he is at his best. Nick is perfect for his current role and Steak would be flipping burgers in Newton if it wasn’t for his daddy. Woolvy is also very knowledgeable and should stay on the air in one form or another. If Brandon Adams taught school as bad as he is a radio personality, then I understand why Georgia is ranked so low in education. Mike Bell and Chuck are great as a team and the jury is still out on Pollack. With that being said, 790 will not lose me as an afternoon listener until there is another option besides Buck and Kincaid (nothing on 790 could be that bad). However, if 680 dumps Rude in the morning and adds Hometeam, that will be my new morning show. Jamal Anderson did very well on Mayham. Kick ol’ Steak Tips to the curb and add Jam.

Man, I really liked the combo that Mike Bell, Hometeam, and Chuck Oliver brought. I made sure I tuned into them every day on my drive home from work. I thought they had a great thing going. Mike was the funny guy and topic starter, Hometeam brought the sanity and a level-headedness to the conversation, and Chuck is a sports encyclopedia.

Very sad to see Hometeam out if it was by his own removal or theirs.

Now they bring David Pollack on? UGH!!!!!!! I’m going back to 680. I’d listen to Buck and Kincaid anytime before that guy.

Steak - You need move to the background. You ran off Bo and we really don’t care about things you learned. You are over the top. You were done with Soup of the Day. I mean really.

Chris and Nick - Still a good combo. You have to keep your jobs and not p** off Steak. So obvious. Have an original thought.

Sandra - Just go. Please. Turn off your mike.

Bo - Come back.

11-1 The worst show on radio.

Stews - Fighting is not sports talk. Do more research…talk more golf..and history…and more interviews. Barking in public went out with hight top fads. Its ok for the yard and homecoming.

Saloon - Mike is still funny. Chuck only listens to himself and is a border line nerd. Every sports conversation has two sides not just yours. His voice sounds like
like a b……

The people do not lie.790 has been going down for years along with all of Atl radio.Hometeam was a class act.790 is now so forced and contrived its ridiculous. I was loyal for a long time then the constant switching of shows around weakened me.The final straw was I went out of town a lot and started listening to “The Herd” and other shows on ESPN and I realized I missed sports talked about intelligently and upfront.Give Dimino a show again and back off the contrived Steak,Mike Bell personalities.

Hometeam was a class act and he will truly be missed but the blogs and the slamming of the Stews is incredible. Obviously, somebody likes them because if they didn’t, they wouldn’t be on and they wouldn’t be popular!!! They speak for a different generation of fan that is tired of the “old guard” of radio. Both are successful men that have put a product out there that the people like….LOVE, but to call them “race baiters” is just an example of people’s reaction when they hear the truth. When other broadcasters classify black players in unpleasant terms, nothng is said knowing full well the entire story isn’t told. Both black air personalities brought something to 790. Hometeam brought a different perspective that people from Atlanta couldn’t help but respect and he loved his teams. He will be missed!!!

Brandon Leake is the only one on the station with an understanding of basketball, both college and pro. He is a more polished broadcaster than any of the zone’s other announcers, and the only one with the potential to go on to a larger market.

THIS MOVE BY 790 THE ZONE WAS VERY WEAK! NO REASON TO GET RID OF HOMETEAM. THIS PROVES THEY DON’T REALLY CARE ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO LISTEN TO THE STATION SINCE WE STILL DON’T KNOW WHY HE IS GONE!

HOWEVER WITH THAT SAID THIS STATIONS IS STILL MILES AHEAD OF 680 THE FAN. STEAK, MIKE AND CHRIS ARE FINE. THE MID DAY SHOW SUCKS. THE STEWS ARE THE STEWS AND THERE IS A REASON WHY THEY ARE NATIONAL AND QUITE HONESTLY THEY DO A SHOW FOR BLACK PEOPLE I’M SORRY YOU WHITE GUYS ARE JUST GOING TO HAVE TO LISTEN TO THE HUNDRED OTHER ALL WHITE SHOWS THAT ARE ON AND GIVES US BLACKS OUR 3 HRS OF ENTERTAINMENT A DAY! MIKE BELL AND CHUCK ARE GOOD TOO. THE SHOW IS MUCH BETTER THAN I EXPECTED BUT THE NEW ADDITION OF DAVID POLLOCK SUCKS! HE SOUNDS LIKE ANY OL REGULAR DUDE OFF THE STREET. As far as the Stews are concerned, they are out of control with their racial nonsense. There are countless examples I can specify where there is a double standard for the black athlete compared to the white athlete. Ryan is just a hater of the white athlete. They are gung ho of the black athlete regardless of what he does off the field (Mike Vick) and hate on the white athlete (Michael Phelps) as if they don’t belong on the field with the black man. Why does everything have to be about race when it coems to the Stews? Ever notice how on rapid Stew they usually get a black reporter from the local area to report? I bet they don’t want Whitey on their show.

I liked the stews until I realized that Doug is really a racist. He was beside himself when Nash was winning those MVP awards. I mean it really chided his nipples. All because he was a white guy.

I too enjoyed the Stews until I realized Doug was a racist. You don’t like hockey because there’s not enough of a negro factor? What if a white host said the reverse of that about the NBA? That and their defense of Vick was way past ridiculous. What? Negative story about a black athlete? Here’s Ryan to defend him. Anyway I do agree with what a previous poster said. Give the blacks their one show. Let them wallow in their racism. Just change the station and listen to something else. I wouldn’t kick the Stews off the air. Each race has their own idiots.

Firing “Hometeam” was silly. He truly loved everything that was Atlanta sports and captured every audience. He was witty, intelligent, and could fill in on any show and paid his dues doing updated for damn near every show on 790. Now this Brandon and Wolvey crap…..c’mon. 790 had to put them in this slot so no other show would get dissed for Colin over on 680. The saloon is far less interesting with “Hometeam’s” quick witt. If Domino had his time with a show, 790 could have cut Brandon and Wolvey an hour shorter and gave “Hometeam” a mid-day hour. Well, to the pioneer of the title “2 live Stews” and the Atlanta’s most clasic phrase, “shawty”, fare well. I hope you land a gig on 680 and get paid.

Thanks a lot guys, your move seems totally without merit and forethought. I enjoyed the show with hometeam, while I wasnt overly impressed - he at least seemed genuine and honest as compared to the other characters on the show. He seemed to care for the city and its teams. I don’t know what transpired behind the scenes, but it must have been something pretty bad for things to have played out the way they did.

His dismissal was pretty unceremonious and poorly handled. I guess I will have to just tune in to 680 the fan or an FM station on my ride home. Thanks guys.
