8/14: Former WSB-AM talker Chris Krok lands morning gig in Macon
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Chris Krok, who worked for two years as the late-night host at WSB-AM until last December, has landed a new job at a news/talk station in Macon, WMAC-AM.
He starts Monday.
Krok was let go days after he won an Achievement in Radio award from his peers at the station. The young brash talk-show host, who made a name for himself in town by loudly protesting illegal immigration, was brought in as a potential replacement for Clark Howard or Neal Boortz whenever either chooses to retire. But for reasons never quite made clear, WSB-AM management decided after two years he wasn’t going to work out. For now, WSB is using Herman Cain, who is older than Boortz.
Krok, 35, himself isn’t sure what happened. But he kept looking for a job and did a tryout last month in Macon, which obviously worked out for him. Here’s what the MaconTelegraph reported:
Krok stirred up some controversy when he got into an on-air argument with longtime Macon City Councilwoman Elaine Lucas during his tryout with the station in late July. Lucas became so exasperated that she hung up the phone on Krok during the interview.
“I’m going to hold every politician accountable,” said Krok, who was formerly a late-night, conservative radio talk-show host with Atlanta’s WSB radio. “I’m going to right the wrongs. I’m putting every politician on notice - their days of getting away with murder and having carte blanche are over.”
Her response? Her enemies “sic some carpetbagger on me,” she said, calling the action “cowardly.”
Krok will be replacing former morning host Shayne McBride, who was fired in late June after after being arrested by Macon police and charged with possession of marijuana.

-Speaking of WSB-AM, Sean Hannity and Neal Boortz will share the stage at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre Sept.5 , the day after the Republican National Convention. Show starts at 6 p.m. Tix range from $7.50 to $50 for VIP seats. You can buy them here at Ticketmaster.

Herman got his slot because wsb needed diversity on the air and ‘Royal T’ did not do so well behind the mic (he is better suited doing Neal’s technical stuff anyway). SAVAGE had much better ratings than Herman does so why do they not put Savage back on at 7PM?

Savage is way too over the top. I get tired of him very quickly. Herman Cain is much more down to earth. I enjoy Herman’s show when I get a chance to hear it and when he sits in for “Uncle Neal”.

HEAR, HEAR!
Loved Kroc, and miss him in this market. Atlanta has its own army of self-serving Grand Poobahs and Royal Order of Water Buffalos who deserve constant skewering by someone who takes no prisoners.
As to Savage, bring him back at 7!!!! Since he got moved to 10, I now tune in online on his homestation, KNEW, rather than wait for the WSB delayed broadcast. Herman seems like a very nice guy, but he’s too much of a water carrier for the GOP, and frankly not very enteratining radio when he spends his three hours beating to death Neal’s/Linder’s Fair Tax plan.
Judging, though, from the increasing number of little snide comments that Neal and Belinda have dropped about Savage lately (especially following the autism issue), that Neal’s clout at WSB will likely keep Savage relegated to the wee hours. And besides, he’s close friends with Herman, who he heavily promoted for months and months. And then there’s his friendship with the Wallbanger, who has suffered more than a few nasty jabs from Savage… all in all, I don’t expect Savage to be coming back to “Live” broadcast in Atlanta, unless he moves to another station.
It would be nice to see (well, hear) Savage live at 7 (or better yet at 6, when he comes on live in San Francisco), then Royal at 9 or 10. Herman’s fine for the weekends, along with all the tax and finance programming.
Oh, I forgot: Mark Arum needs to be heard A LOT more often too — another enteraining, great voice for radio with a real love for Atlanta.

Kroc was entertaining.
I couldn’t stand Savage, he is such an alarmist. Herman seems like a nice guy but the show is boring. I am with the above poster….Mark Arum should have gotten that slot. He is very enteraining on the weekends.
By the way - last week either on Saturday or when he was subbing for Herman, he mentioned next year he would be heard a lot more on the air at night but maybe not at WSB. What’s up with that Rodney?

I enjoyed Krok’s show and can’t stand falling asleep to Michael Savage. I look forward to checking out Krok’s new show on the internet!

Krok was different and fun. His view as one in his 30s was needed. Savage is brilliant! I used to think he was loony, but now recognize he has incredible vision. Herman is a gentleman and intelligent, but early evening is too much like the rest of the day. What I find most annoying about WSB is the constant pushing of any and all products by hosts and crew. Enough already!

Weekend guy, Allen Hunt has filled in for Herman lately too and he’s so much better than us hearing the predictable political discourse/drivel from HC.
Hunt’s usually stirring things up with good discussions. I think he’s on WSB Saturdays and Sundays…wish they’d use him more too.

Quite honestly, Savage, Krok, and Cain all have admirable qualities. Remember folks, they are different individuals, so they have different personalities from one another. Each has a different agenda. As for me, I usually agree with all of them.

I heard Krok recently in Macon and let me tell you, he really SUCKED. However, he may just play well in Macon. Better macon than Atlanta!
Really, Krok was considered as a replacement for boortz or Howard? LOL!

Congrats to Chris Krok for getting back on the air. As an aside, WSB is wasting valuable resources in both Mark Arum and Jeff Hullinger. They should be paired up for what would be an awesome sports talk show, even if it’s only one night a week.
Go get ‘em Chris!

Herman Caine is boring as hell. Howvere, he is in Boortz’ circle- jerk good old boy network. Savage is the best on air personality on WSB. Whether you agree with anything he says or not, at least he’s not a corporate hack complete with faxed talking points. Ever wonder why Boortz, Limbaugh, Hannity, Ingraham, Gallagher, etc all talk about the exact same things every day & have the exact party-line opinion? Independence has its cost. Savageis being screwed by Cox radio the same way Kimmer was screwed by lear Channel. Any of you advocating sending opinions to the stations to get them to revert back to better programming is wasting time. Pete Spriggs doesn’t give a rat’s ass what a listener thinks. Since Boortz is the only local on air talent, they kiss his boring ass incessantly. By the way Neal, I don’t give a happy hot damn what your staff is or isn’t doing. You would at least have a decent show if you would cut that crap out.

It’s to bad that we didn’t have Kris Krok here when C.J. Ellis was mayor of Macon. Kris could have really sunk his teeth into some rotten corruption.
I have listened to Kris, and I think he does a great job of uncovering the real truth of what’s going on with our so-called leaders.
And by the way Kris, Elaine Lucas wants everything “her way or the highway”. To bad the voters didn’t put her on the highway during the last election. Elaine has forgotten that she SERVES the people, we DON’T serve her.

I have been looking for Kris Krok for sometime. I really liked his show in Atlanta. I have stopped listening to WSB because I am tired of Savage whining all the time and Herman is boring. I will occasionally listen in the morning for the news. Krok brought life to the night time radio here in Atlanta.
