6/6: Glenn Beck at Cobb Energy Centre Saturday, too much “Project Runway”?

glenn beck.jpg

-WGST mid-morning host (and CNN Headline News host) Glenn Beck is coming to the Cobb Energy Centre for a comedy/political show this Saturday. Tix prices are $35 to $90. You can buy tix here at Ticketmaster.. It starts at 7:30 p.m. I just checked Ticketmaster. There appear to be plenty of seats available. Conservative talker Beck only recently started back on WGST after a lapse of a couple of years but his CNN Headline News talk show has raised his overall profile.

I plan to attend the show and will blog about it this weekend.

-Tim Gunn is worried that “Project Runway,” currently scheduled for three seasons in one year, might be a bit much.. It’s odd that Bravo is airing the fifth season next month so soon after the fourth, which ended just a couple months ago. Prior to this season, the network had restricted the show to one a year. And then Lifetime grabs the show and plans to debut season six this fall.

When the fine Maureen Ryan of the Chicago Trib asked him about this glut, his forehead wrinkled, he gave me one of those patented, Tim Gunn-style “I’m concerned” looks and he sighed.

“But enough already,” he said, completing the thought. “But you know, it’s done.”

In other words, it’s out of his hands. But it’s fair to say this does seem like excessive “Project Runway,” even for afficionados.

-V-103’s Frank Ski last year took a bunch of kids to the Galapagos Islands. This year, ten kids are going to the Amazon rain forest after winning a contest. [More info here.}(http://www.atlantaandcompany.com/article.aspx?storyid=116549)

-And recently, the Zone cast roasted afternoon host Mike Bell and posted the video on You Tube. I am linking it and not embedding it because it includes some naughty words.. It’s based on the Beatles song “Michelle” and focuses on Mike’s corpulence.

-Arbitron releases “monthly” trends which combine the previous three months’ numbers. They can be wonky because they are not weighted properly so I don’t report them except during the actual quarters defined by Arbitron. But it’s worth noting that 94.9/The Bull, now competing with only one country station as opposed to two (with Eagle gone oldies), had the lowest ratings among all the major stations with 100,000 watt signals (that’s Dave, Star, the Bull, the Beat, Project, B98.5, Q100, Kicks and V-103). The numbers cover February, March and April. Its ratings are way below what Lite 94.9 would have normally pulled in and lower than its spring 2007 numbers.

-Although the ratings were modest, Bravo’s “Step It Up and Dance” was a fun show and the winner Cody deserved it as the best technical dancer, although my heart was more for Miguel. Atlanta’s Akon joined as a guest judge for the finale.

I bet there are plenty of seats available. If I wanted to hear a bag of hot air, I’d deflate a balloon.

Hey Nick, ballons are filled with helium, a gas that is usually room temperature I guess you won’t be going to fill one of those seats due to your lack of basic intelligence. Have a beautiful day Mr. Wrong.. ahem, I mean Mr. Wright. BTW are you relate to the bag of hot air known as Rev. Wright? my oh my, he is quite the pompous windbag. I am sure he couldn’t fill a single seat with a normal American if his life depended on it!

Hello gttim, I too would be curious to see the IQ figures of attendees for Beck, vs Jon Stewart… seeing as how ole Jonny boy’s audiences are made up of brainless leaches who live in mom’s basement, and men who like to hump anything on two legs! HAHA! It doesn’t take much to entertain them, you know the usual fart joke, sex joke, or Bush joke doesn’t stimulate intellects of anyones over double digit IQ’s.

Boy Meelee, you sure nailed it. While Jon Stewart consistently draws only about 1.60 million viewers (http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2008/01/stewartsratingsdown15colbe.html) to his little dog and pony show. Glenn Beck gets an impressive 374,000 (http://tvbythenumbers.com/2008/05/08/cable-news-ratings-for-wednesday-may-7/3687) mouth breathing viewers. No wonder Beck is charging more at Cobb Energy Center. In 2004, The Daily Show received more male viewers in the 18-34 year old age demographic than Nightline, Meet the Press, Hannity & Colmes and all of the evening news broadcasts.

Know your facts you wiper of other people’s bottoms.

Neil, you made my point for me. Those males are more interested in fart jokes… sex jokes… and Bush jokes (done over ad naseum and couldn’t possibly be funnier than the last millionth time it was uttered) than they are about the world that is going down in flames around them. How sad.

Your juvenile comments and name calling only prove my point.
