6/2: B98.5’s Kelly Stevens is back on air, Fan’s John Kincade’s contract extension

Kelly Stevens, outgoing morning co host on the “Kelly & Alpha” morning show on B98.5, has returned from a rehab facility to battle alcoholism. He briefly talked about his rehab on the air Monday morning, thanked his fans for their support, then went right back to playing cuts from Avril Lavigne, 3 Doors Down and Journey.
Stevens was in rehab for about two months.
(If this had been a member of the Bert Show, they would have spent hours on the topic and taken calls.)
Stevens & his on-air partner Alpha Trevette are in an awkward position. B98.5 has been promoting the return of Steve & VIkki to the airwaves on July 1 for weeks while the pair has to do a morning show knowing their time clock is ticking away. The two DJs quietly (and successfully) did their job for about a decade on the station but were never given much breathing room to show off their personalities. It was always about the music.
Cox Radio felt Steve & VIkki would be a perfect demographic fit for its listeners and as known personalities, they will be given more leeway to gab.
-John Kincade is about to sign a three-year extension on his contract with the Buck & Kincade show on 680/The Fan, the station’s No. 1 show. He’s been with Buck Belue for nearly eight years.

I wish Kelly Stevens all the best. He and Alpha should be commended for being professional and taking the high road the last six months.
John Kincade is a natural for the sports talk circuit. He is also well prepared on his Sunday ESPN Show.

B98.5 sucks for getting rid of Kelly & Alpha. I currently listen to them every morning but will be finding a new station to listen to when Steve & Vicki take over. I couldn’t stand them on Star 94 and I won’t listen to them on B98.5.

i will give kincade his little ray of FAME, but when it comes down to the real news in sports he needs to just look at the STEWS ON 790 those guys really keep it real and also they are on ESPN AND THEY STILL KEEP IT REAL, so TO kincade who is just a won’t to be player at the next level just stick to your small time hick job and keep on taking care of those fake fans (13)that you have all in north ga. Glad to see things are going well for Dagmar. Always loved her weather reports and her looks and voice could make a hurricane sound appealing.
As far as John Kincaid, what a waste of life. He has nothing to offer and does nothing but berate and bash his listeners. If you don’t agree with John, your opinion is either stupid or ridiculous. The guy is more perfect than Jesus in his own mind. Atlanta sports radio is a MAJOR JOKE with nothing to offer!!!!!!

Congratulations to Atlanta radio. It is obviously intent on remaining pitiful by putting Steve & Viki back on the air. I rarely hear Kelly and Alpha but I know they play music - as opposed to the Steves, Vikis and Berts of Atlanta radio who seem to be madly in love with the sounds of their own voices. Save your money, folks, and do as I did a couple of years ago. Switch to Sirius (or XM) and free yourselves from godawful Atlanta radio forever!

Kincade is a Northern bonehead that knows nothing about football or really any kind of sports . I am sickened to hear we have 3 more years of him . Why does Buck talk with that stupid pause in between words ,for once I wish he would just talk normal , but hey I guess thats what keeps me listening, maybe Im the bonehead?

Steve & Vicki suck, always have, always will. Steve is a dork; Vicki is Ed McMahon to his lame jokes. The only reason they’re back on the air is because Steve begged Vicki to return so he could continue his exorbitant lifestyle at Country Club of the South. Can you imagine your neighbors at CC of the South? Foxworthy, Glavine, Smoltz, Usher, Steve McCoy(who?). They’ll be off the air within 12 months and Steve will be begging Vicki to ruin yet another station.

*as someone who has been in the atlanta market for 21 years- 790 the zone is like the Democratic party, a bunch of obnoxious personalities who are forcefed down our throat by the mainstream media. I mean, you can’t even hear 790 outside the perimeter at night. 680 consistently puts out sports talk that I can listen to with my children and discuss. *
