5/21: On Dagmar Midcap, plus radio parties forthcoming

dagmar-billboard-1.JPG

I’m working on a story about WGCL’s fetching weather forecaster Dagmar Midcap and would love folks’ input. Has anyone seen the billboards? If you are willing to go on the record with your name, email me at rho@ajc.com. Else, feel free to just comment here. Keep it clean, people!

Anyway, here are some upcoming radio events:

-First, next Friday May 30 from noon to 4 p.m., 95.5/The Beat is hosting a free “Meet the Beat” party at the Mall at Stonecrest. DJ Khaled will perform and all the Beat jocks will be there, including CJ and Murph Dawg from the mornings. They’ll be a custom car show, health screenings and kids activities. This is somewhat unusual because the Beat doesn’t normally spend much time promoting its jocks. Rather, it’s typically all about the music.

-Grown Folks 102.5 is holding a “One Night Stand” R&B concert this Saturday at Center Stage featuring Dwele, Lina, Nel Gourdin and Liv Warfield. “Grown Folks Radio brings the sexy!” is the tagline. Tix are $35 through Ticketmaster and $30 at the door.

-790/The Zone is hosting its 11th anniversary party at Candler Park. Drivin’ n Cryin’ perform at 7:30 and Blues Traveler at 9 p.m. Tix are $10 through May 25, $15 afterwards and $20 at the door. Tix can be purchased at www.ticketalternative.com

-Unrelated to parties, Holly Firfer, formerly of CNN and Dave FM and now co host of “Atlanta & Company,” is playing a TV reporter in an upcoming episode of Lifetime drama “Army Wives.”

-Finally, have people noticed that the Giant Brian morning show at Project 9-6-1 is now being given more time on the air to develop itself and get people to know them. The show also normally ends at 9 a.m. but the past couple of days, I’ve noticed them finishing up closer to 9:15 a.m. The show will need time as it faces off against the Regular Guys but for folks who are looking for an alternative, check Giant Brian and Shaffee out.

Rodney I was concerned about the lack of a TRG mention until you finally worked it into the last sentence. What really surprises me is you did not list Larry and Eric’s birthday party at the Pink Pony tomorrow night? Your slipping buddy.

Regarding Dagmar just check out the latest episode of Soutside Steve TV on Regular Guys.com where she gives Larry a headpress. Very nice.

Thanks for mentioning my morning show in Project 1-9-6! Next week, Moe & Larry will be guests on the show to discuss if Shemp was funnier than me!

The show is actually called “The Giant Show” not “The Giant Brian Show”. They are only going past 9am temporarily for Metal Shop.

Cut Curly from Project 1-9-6 some slack. After all, add Deskins & Bloomquist and you’ve got The Three Stooges!

A free “Meet the Beat” party?

I was going to have a “Beat the Meat” party, with a select guest list.

Dagmar-if that’s your real name, change it. If it’s your on-air name, bad choice. Seriously, there’s a story here? An attractive female weather girl wearing tight sweaters. OMG! I’ve never heard of such a thing. Come on people, how cliche. This isn’t news or entertainment.

I’m not sure how relevant this is to the story you’re hoping to do, but I can’t help but wonder if CBS tells its female meterologists how to dress. There is such a big gap in the professionalism of how females on other networks dress and the tight, low cut tops that Laura Huckabee and Dagmar Midcap wear. I used to watch the noon news on that network, but stopped because I got tired of looking at Laura Huckabee’s ‘goods’. I guess maybe that’s what gets the ratings for the network, it just seems like they would encourage their on-air staff to dress like the professionals they should be. I cringe every time one of their commercials come on and am very thankful that I’m not likely to have to see Dagmar’s cleavage, billboard size.

Are you people gay? Who doesnt want to see Dagmar’s cleavage? Probably some dumb, old P-Whipped married guy. Grow a pair pansies!!!!

When will Giant Brian have another event at Eastside Station? I’d really like to see him smash a cake in some poor girl’s face and throw her to the ground. Talk about talent! Bring on the baloney!

Yeah, I heard Brian was suspended last week for assaulting a girl at Eastside Station. I heard there was video as well. Any reporting on this, Rodney?

Why should Dagmar change her name? She should drop the Midcap and go by her first name. Let’s compare her name with other folks who go by one name:

Dagmar - Busty Weather Girl

Madonna - Skank Recording Artist

Whoopi - No Talent Hack Who Won’t Go Away

Rosie - Fat No Talent Hack

Bjorn - Weird European Singer

And the only one with any talent is Dagmar!

It’s a fact that I’m not the most intelligent person on the planet, but I do like Dagmar’s forecasts!

Rodney,

I’m glad to see you label Dagmar Midcap as a “weather forecaster” and a not a meteorologist, a distinction lost on some without an understanding of broadcast news. While Ms. Midcap has experience as a morning television traffic and weather reporter in Canada, I question CBS46’s decision to move Dagmar from “Better Mornings” to CBS46 News at 4,6 and 11.

During evening newscasts and in between when severe weather threatens, my preference is to skip CBS46 and trust a qualified meteorologist on any of the 3 other affiliates.

A broadcast personality able to deliver a forecast is a distant second to someone with a degree in meteorology who continued their education in broadcasting.

Giant Brian should have his entire show suspended for his assault on comedy.

Maybe the word meteorologist makes you feel good, but Glenn, Ken, and yes, Dagmar just report what the National Weather Service computers tell them to report. Glenn and Ken don’t predict the weather, they just relay other peoples predictions. The only qualification is an ability to read. Dagmar does that splendidly.

The Giant Show is the worst morning show in Atlanta history. I would rather listen to my grandparents have relations. Gret hire Chris Williams! Enjoy unemployment pal.

Seriously, Giant Show really sucks, so glad TRG are back on. BUT HEY RODNEY, how come you aren’t reporting on this Giant Brian story??? He was off the air for a week in the middle of the spring book for assaulting a girl… this is like crack to you! You seriously need to address that incident… I mean, we all know you’re a TRG and Chris Williams homer, but to cover up a story?… it’s not like your weasely self!

You are writing a story on Dagmar? Whats there to write about? She is a pretty face with nice “features”. No different when FOX NFL Sunday had Jillian doing the weather. I say get Carmen Electra on ESPN doing wind conditions. Anyways, bring on the weather jokes. How about this one: “With Dagmar showing the weather conditions on the map, a good part of Georgia will be covered but not by thunder storms”.

Dagmar definitely wins the prize for the best looking ta-ta’s of ANY weather woman on ANY TV station in the whole country!! I, for one, would love to see MORE of her. Think Playboy has approached her yet??

A+ for Dagmar D- for mention of Giant Brian (which should not be mistaken for Giant Brain in a Peter Griffin way)

RTibbs: fanboy the regular guys much? Can’t even mention Dagmar without throwing in a TRG plug, can you
