11/29: Whatever happened to Z93’s Kaedy Kiely?

Former 96rock and Z93 jock Kaedy Kiely will be on air with Mara Davis on Dave FM Friday at 2 p.m. to talk about her new game Rock Riddles. It’s an offshoot of what she used to do on the radio — riddles about rock artists. She’s got a web site www.rockriddles.com. She’s going to start selling it on CD. “It’s easier than what I did on the radio because a lot of the questions were for Camp Jam,” a rock and roll summer camp for teens.
Kiely, who was on radio in Atlanta for 22 years including a long stint at 96rock back in its heyday, had worked for awhile at a startup drinkng company Viva Horchata after she got fired from Z93 in 2004 when the station switched over to Dave. Here’s my last update on her back in December 2005.. But she needed to pay the bills and got a job a few months ago doing production and imaging for 790/The Zone working with fellow Z93 expat Dave Marino. So she’s back in radio and you’ll hear her voice on the Zone, at least doing promotions and IDs. Her title? “Continuity director.” In other words, she’s the liaison between the sales people and the talent.
“I definitely miss being on the air. I miss the listeners and the music. But radio has changed a lot,” she said. She said she is enjoying the Zone’s folks and its entrepreneurial spirit.
This interview with Mara will be her first time on the 92.9 dial in more than three years. “I can’t wait,” she said. “It’s going to be fun.”

I miss Kaedy Kiely on the radio. I also miss the days when you could hear a decent variety of rock songs on the radio instead of the same 47 songs over and over and over. Kaedy was fun and interesting to listen to, both on 96 Rock and Z93…not much of that available these days in Atlanta. Tell you who else was great on Atlanta’s airwaves, Bob Bailey! As soon as I win Lotto I’m going to buy my own station and play all the good stuff you never get to hear, and the first two radio personalities I’ll hire will be Kaedy Kiely and Bob Bailey! And when people find out that there’s actually something interesting and entertaining to listen to, all the other stations will be left twisitng in the wind.

I remember doing the “Almost Famous” thing on Z93 where they let random people be a DJ for a couple hours. Kaedy Kiley was a really cool person. She found out I played in a band and gave one of our songs a spin on the air (or as much of it as she could get away with, anyway). For a brief period my friends actually thought I was cool.

Getting rid of Kaedy Kiely was one of the dumbest moves by both Z-93 & 96Rock.
She is far better than most djs these days.

I agree completely - Z93 really screwed up. She was great and would have fit in just fine with the new format, and no doubt the next format they go to. Kaedy is great and they should hire her back.

Kaedy really made the drive home fun. Traffic Jammin Jokes and some great interviews to go with the rock. Really miss her. Loved her laugh.

Hey voice of experience, I used to like Bob Bailey too until I heard a few years ago (after he left Z-93) that he had been arrested on some sort of child sex charge (child pornography, misconduct with a minor, or something similar..….I can’t remember exactly but it was something along those lines). I don’t know if he was convicted or how it played out, but I definitely remember it being reported a few years back. Yuck!
