10/2: Future of Steve & VIkki
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Since Vikki Locke made a surprise announcement in the spring that she was leaving at the end of this year for medical reaons after more than 17 years at Star 94. With three months to go, it’s unclear when she will actually depart and what will become of Steve McCoy, her long-time morning show partner. McCoy, now in his early 50s, has reached the age where many a top 40 DJ has been given their walking papers.
Mark Kanov, their boss, said news about Locke’s impending departure date and possible replacement could be announced as early as this week.
Back in June, my colleague Richard Eldredge reported that Locke was hospitalized last year after doctors detected a blood clot that had traveled from her arm to her shoulder. Despite weekly tests and monitoring, Locke’s doctors have been unable to completely dissolve the clot or diagnose its origin.

I think it is terrible that no one has posted a comment about Vicki and Steve yet. So I am. I will be very sorry to “hear” Vicki leave the show. Steve and Vicki are like Ed McMahan and Johnny Carson in that she has a great laugh and backs up his schtick.

It’ll be a sad day in Atlanta radio when the last remaining “Class Acts,” Steve & Vikki leave the air. They still remain funny, relevant and “hip” to young adults. Tom Sullivan has always been hysterical and even Rob Stadler shines in the newsroom.
But I won’t miss Shannon Holly, the absolutely WORST excuse for a traffic reporter and “talent” I’ve ever heard! Not only can’t she read, but she constantly screws up the flow of the show with her pompous attitude and arcane interruptions & comments. Good riddance for her - get somebody who KNOWS Atlanta Traffic!
Move Cindy & Ray to the mornings - see how they do when they’re sleep-deprived!

Steve and Vicki are washed up. They have no new material and Steve-well-he is old and boring. Time to retire y’all! Put the Regualr Guys on and change the station to OFFEND 94.1 so that we can offend all those thin skinned morons who want to tell the majority what to do. We could have Entitlement day, or a day at the welfare office with Jesse and Al, a Bevis and Butthead take off. We could have The illegal Alien 500-put a group of illegals 500 miles from the US border, the first to cross gets in. All others are arresed and deported.

Well wishes for Vicky, even though im not a fan. Bringing the regular guys back as an option isn’t an option. Let it go already, they have moved on to higher pastures other than the “backwards living in the past” Atlanta. Give it up already, ill but it in simple terms for you “they ants comin back”

Steve & Vicki are like those once skilled hitters that are hitting .210 and are unlikely to turn it around. Terrestrial Radio will die if they don’t start creating new and compelling content. Maybe this station will always be reserved for soccer moms, but styles and tasts change over time, and its time for Steve McCoy to get a different job and spend some time with the grandkids.

Shannon is the best part of the morning show right now on Star94. Usually when Steve, Vikki, and Tom interview a celeb its full of corny jokes and a boring 5 minutes. Shannon’s interviews from LA were on target and she did her homework on them. Shannon should replace Vikki. She’s awesome!!!!!
