7/26: Hot Ghetto Mess a mixed bag

Charlie-Murphy-HGM-1.jpg

In the end, “Hot Ghetto Mess,” inspired by the web site wasn’t quite the mess some African Americans anticipated. In fact, that wasn’t even the name of the BET show, which, at the last second, became “We Got To Do Better.”

At Fox Sports Grill in Atlantic Station Wednesday night, about 50 mostly African Americans invited by the national Rainbow/PUSH Coalition screened the debut hosted by comic Charlie Murphy. About half the folks liked the show, a few hated it and several were in the middle.

In recent weeks, several people online protested the show’s title and supposed intent, leading two advertisers — State Farm and Atlanta’s Home Depot — to request not to have their commercials on the show. While the executive producers and BET executives defended the show, the network didn’t provide a preview episode to TV reporters, a normal practice. The explanation: they weren’t finished with it until the last second.

“It’s really a social commentary show,” said co-executive producer James DuBose over lunch at the InterContinental Hotel in Buckhead Wednesday afternoon. (He’s in town shooting second season of “The Keyshia Cole Show.”) “We’re trying to take responsibility and become more accountable for our actions by putting up a mirror. The show is trying to start a dialogue.”

If anything, the network did change the title of the show at the last second to placate critics, though on the show, it’s clear they had not changed Murphy’s commentary because he references “hot ghetto mess” several times.

The show itself is a blend of Jay Leno’s “Man on the Street” segments and “America’s Funniest Home Videos.” It attempts to show people’s ignorance of black history facts.

This is “the show you never want to see your mama on,” Murphy said, opening the show. “I mean, whether, you are black, white or otherwise, we can’t continue to do this.” By showing idiotic behavior on screen, he added, or as he said, people, “acting like damn fools, you’ll be less likely to replicate the behavior.”

Among the videos including bad singers such as a bunch of blacks in a farm setting eating candied yams and watermelon with flies on them and a dude with missing teeth who botched the “Star Spangled Banner.”

The “man on the street” segments, some of which was shot in Atlanta, weren’t nearly as entertaining as those Leno does because the comic working with the people (who only went by Sidney) wasn’t as witty and the answers weren’t nearly as amusing. In fact, the first question, when he asked folks “Who is richer: Bill Gates or Jay Z?” mostly got the right answer: Bill Gates. He got a couple of folks to say, if Jay Z released another album, he’d be closer to Gates. That still wasn’t funny. Ditto with the question about which one came first: blacks fighting in the military or getting the vote. Almost everyone got it correct. Sadly, most folks couldn’t identify Clarence Thomas, the only black on the Supreme Court.

Later, the show asked people to identify the acronym to NAACP. Most folks did not know that, but does that really matter? The fact is, even the NAACP will admit the acronym itself survives because of the meaning behind it, not the actual words because people don’t use the phrase “colored people” anymore, as in the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. As

The most interesting one was asking people what the unemployment rate was among blacks. It was 8.2 percent but folks would say 45 percent or 55 percent. Naturally, the unemployment rate itself is misleading because it only identifies people actively looking for jobs.

While a majority of the videos featured blacks, there were also white folks doing stupid things like a car salesman falling off some mattresses on top of a car onto the ground and a redneck blowing a condom off his head. In fact, there was video of white folks at the Redneck Games, held each year in East Dublin, Ga., plopping into mudpits.

Janice Mathis, vice president for legal affairs for Rainbow/PUSH, organized several viewing parties in cities such as Los Angeles, Detroit, New York and Washington D.C. She said before the show she would be happy to cheer the show if it was any good but also ready to contact advertisers if it was offensive. In the end, she wasn’t sure what to think.

“I thought the history lessons were intriguing,” she said. “It’s nice to get that in an entertainment format without being too preachy. On the other hand, some of the videos were disturbing — even the [white folks] mudflopping.”

Most of the attendees were outside the 18-34 demographic BET is going after.

Dexter Porter, a 38-year-old mortgage broker from Decatur, called it a “minstrel show.” And even with whites in the act, “white folks can be minstrel, too,” he said, citing MTV’s “Jackass” show. “The purpose of BET is to dumb down the population.” Some criticized the show for featuring buffoonery.

“This takes blacks who are at the bottom of the barrel and we laugh at them and make fun of them,” said Rodney Coleman, a 35-year-old real estate developer from Atlanta. “It’s revised Jerry Springer for the new millenium. It’s ludicrous to think intellgent black people will learn from this. Intelligent black people aren’t even going to watch this show.”

Shelley Wynter, an afternoon talk show host on WAOK-AM known to be more conservative than most on the station, said he thought the show had plenty of redeeming value. “The show is not designed for you. Don’t look at it from your eyes but BET’s viewers’ eyes. It’s brilliant for them. How many watched Tavis Smiley when he was on BET? It was the network’s lowest rated show.”

“What they’re doing is saying, ‘If you don’t know this, find out about it,’ ” he added. “If you won’t find out about it, we’ll tell you about it. That’s a positive message.”

“This is something that wakes up your consciousness to how far we’ve fallen,” said Samuel Mosteller, a 49-year-old minister in Atlanta at the Good Shephard Community Church.

“It’s not offensive content,” said Latron Price, a 32-year-old consulting marketing firm owner from Ellenwood. “I thought it was designed to be comedic. I think it had a realness to it.” (He was happy they did change the show’s name, though.)

“Let’s not overthink this,” said Rhea Posey, a 33-year-old who works for a nonprofit. “We must do better. I agree. This will provoke thought.”

Ironically, this morning, VH1 is expected to announce yet another season of “Flavor of Love,” a show featuring Flavor Flav in a “Bachelor” style show. It has been the network’s most popular show ever but has been criticized for showing women (mostly black) being gold-diggers. “This is the show that sets blacks back 10 years,” said Wynter.

Why do you people call yourselves “African-Americans”? None of you are from Africa. Either you’re African, OR American. Decide which one you are, and either leave or stay.

Well, the title “We got to do better” already proves its point thanks to MARK…”Hot Ghetto Mess” could also pertain to you seeing as Ghetto doesn’t just pertain to black people. We don’t have to make the choice to leave or stay, or whether we are called African Americans or not. Why don’t you make the choice of whether you are an idiot or ignorant. That would seem to be an easier choice seeing as you seem to be both. Why don’t you go back to where you came from, since I’m sure if you look at you’re family tree it wasn’t from here either.

As a Black American, I literally CRINGE every time I hear NATIVE-BORN Black Americans refer to themselves as “African-American.” I am a full-fledged American, born and raised.

Historically, everyone is from Africa—it is the origin of mankind, according to anthropologists. Yes, ~500 years ago, my ancestors came from Africa. But since then, as far back as is reasonable to consider, my ancestors were American-born, just like me.

I think since some people started saying ‘Af-Am’, people have begun acting like barbarians! Yes, America made Blacks have to fight for our natural-born rights. But do NOT cut in half my rights. I’m not an immigrant; I was BORN here. I am a Black American. And I SO wish the media would go back to just saying “Black American.” It ANGERS me to see native-born Blacks rebel against the very country in which they were born. Other people come here and adopt American ways, dress, language, etc. Native-born Blacks (some of them—the more ignorant, less-travled ones) think they can walk around here looking, dressing and talking like foreigners and expect to succeed in this society. It “ain’t” gonna’ happen!

I say “Black American” and “White American.” Yes, I capitalize the “B” and “W.”

Its funny, Mark, none of my “kiss me I’m Irish” friends ever have to answer that question. Nor do they have to make a decision to “leave or stay.” Why should I? One of my closest friends from my days in the Marine corps let you know he was Italian “straight outta Hell’s Kitchen” every time he walked in the room, and I’m just guessing here, but I don’t think you would object too mightily. I know I didnt. In fact, while in the Marines, I had the chance to meet several members of other military group…among them were the Royal Scottish Highlanders. These descendants of William Wallace proudly wore (when in full ceremonial dress)kilts, and to my American eyes, the silliest beret-looking headgear with an even more ridiculous pom-pom device to denote their area of origin. Yet they were all proud to serve the Crown that their ancestors once fought against to the death!!!! My point? There are parades and organizations for every ethnic group here in this country of diverse ethnic groups even if the name of the group doesnt denote it….(Sons/Daughters of the Confederacy anyone?)We ARE all American, but were not all white, or black, or Asian, or Latino, or Armenian, or French, or Cajun (mmmmmmm Blackened Catfish….) but you get my point. I truly dont see a problem with saying where your ancestors came from before they became part of this quilt. And I dont know why you do. Selah

Hey Kassie: that [insert phrase here] and following up with “Not!” was played out at least 10 years ago. Steal some better material next time.

First off, I feel this is show is irresponsible. Whether or not it portrays diverse ingnorance, it is on the stage of BET. Most people are not open-minded or intelligent enough to take that kind of social commentary, and use it to start a positive dialogue. Instead, the wrong people watch and use it to fuel their bigotry.

It is important to remember that BET is owned by Viacom. I don’t believe they are qualified to create a programming schedule for the most recognized station representing black america. Dave Chappelle is the only person who has ever been able to surgically open dialogue about racially tensioned issues and keep everyone laughing. And even he couldn’t continue because of the few close-minded people who didn’t have the IQ to comprehend his material and grace to keep there stupid comments to themselves.

Mark, Mark, Mark….You are an idiot. I am only going to entertain this once because I am busy and you are obscenely ignorant, stupid and obviously looking to get under someone’s skin today. For the record, we can call ourselves whatever we choose. No further explanation is needed. You my friend, when in public and at work, you too will address us as African American, Black or whatever we decide to call ourselves. Since there is some confusion to you as to what or why we call ourselves what we do. Let me strongly suggest you call us SIR OR MADAAM at all times …that WILL BE SUFFICE and safe for you. Now behind closed doors and on blogs you can cowardly state your true feelings, because you don’t matter anyway. As far as African Americans leaving this country. IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN. WE WILL BE LIVING AND WORKING NEXT TO YOU FOR THE REST OF YOUR NATURAL RACIST LIFE, THE LIVES OF YOUR CHILDREN AND SO ON… AND SO ON… This country was built from the blood and sweat of our ancestors both in Africa and here in America which is why this is our country. Now, my racist friend, if that forecast is too cloudy for you, maybe you should leave this country and go back to the country your ancestors came from…unless, of course, you are American Indian.
Which to that I can only say Goodbye ChiefMARKdumb!^*

I am tired of protesters trying to tell companies what to do. Let each person decide what to do on their own. If Hot Ghetto Mess is garbage, let people not watch it. It is that simple. I am tired of loud-mouthed fools from all sides trying to pressure companies or me to not do something that doesn’t agree with their viewpoint. PETA can’t get any publicity until Michael Vick is accused of dog fighting and now the fools won’t shut up because they can’t get publicity for themselves any other way and I agree with not being for animal cruelty. Although it hypocritical for people to complain about dog fighting when we eat steaks and burgers every day. Dogs and cats are no more important than cattle or pigs. Hypocrites. Besides animals kill each other in the wild, so why should it matter if people train and watch them do it? Hypocrites.

How many white Americans were brought here in bondage or had ancestors brought in bondage? That is probably a big reason they celebrate both African and American heritage. Shut up and let them celibrate it. We eat Italian, Mexican, German food etc. and don’t complain. They just want to preserve both parts of their heritage. I am tired of white people complaining, the U.S. is always changing.

Uhmm it is just comedy.

Note to the writer of this peace ~ you misspoken. Jay Leno’s gag is call Jaywalking. Not Man on the Street.

And how does a show like this push us back 10 years? Don’t you mean 142 years?

Anyway, if you don’t like it - then don’t watch it.

Shoot don’t even talk about it.

You’re making the show hot by just hating on it!

I think Charlie Murphy should have went to Comedy Central.

MTV lost its focus - music video and fell into the reality shows trap. Some are hits and some are misses.

As for the minstrel show comment - the true definition of a minstrel show is when the man puts on blackface as make-up and makes a mockery of the people that they are trying to copy.

Props to State Farm and Home Depot saying HAIL TO THE NO!

There’s good comedy and there’s bad comedy. You can’t always have your cake and eat it too!

For one I am a grown man and I will watch whatever I want to.

MArk, there is a WET, it just happens to be called ABC, TNT, TBS, CBS, NBC, MTV, VH1, TNN, FOX.

There is no dearth of White programming in mass media outlets so WET would be redundant.

As long as there can be sit coms based in NY City where there are NO BLACK PEOPLE ever seen then there will be a WET.

Lastly, how does the naming convention for one group of people affect your every day life? Why do you even care? Is your life so sad that you have to focus on what another group chooses to do? Ever heard the phrase “what you eat dont make me shyt?” internalize that and maybe you can move on to bigger and better questions about humanity.

Mark,

Who would "you people" be referring to? Secondly, there is W.E.T. If i'm not mistaken ABC, CBS, NBC, TNT, etc, etc, etc, would classify as W.E.T. Matter of factly you can scroll through all 700 stations on cable or satellite and it's only one station geared toward "us people". How racist is that? Every show on television is gear'd toward white people with one black person sprinkled in so "us people" won't feel left out.

Are we not all humans first?

Ignorance and stupidity know no racial boundaries… we, as humans, are often subject to fits of outright brainless activity.

My grandparents where Irish, German, English, and Scottish. I was born in California (some would point out that my problems start there…) and proudly call myself American. I’m sorry, but “Euro-American” is just the silliest thing I’ve ever heard.

My father, bless his heart, was very active during the civil rights movement in Texas, despite the fact that his parents were essentially racists (sorry Nana and Grampa, but you guys really were, and shame on you for trying to instill that in me). My dad made sure I knew that my loyalty was to my country and to all of humanity, not just one shade.

Recent Y-chromosome tracking has proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that Africa is the birthplace of modern humanity. Deal with it, folks.

Also black radio and TV stations, etc. were created because Main stream (white America) would not give our entertainers the same opportunities as their white counterparts. I grew up listening to Barry Manilow, Neil Sedaka, watching Shirley Temple and cowboy movies on TV - because that’s all that was on television and the airwaves. Does anyone know why African American is used instead of Black? Look up back in the Dictionary. Pay attention to the new. When something is described as bad it is often dark or black. Jackson pushed to change it because of the negatives of the word Black. The Italian-American Mike please give it up. If your hair is dark you have black blood running.

Mark, one of the great things about America is our tolerance of differing points of view… even yours. But do you have to be such a jerk about it?

Anyone recall what the original (albeit unoffical) motto of the UNITED States of America was? Before Congress lost it’s collective mind in 1956 and changed it to “In god we trust”?

“E Pluribus Unum”, folks. It means “Out of many, one”. That describes the America I want to live in, where people from all over the world can come and join our country because they agree on the princibles this country was founded upon.

People. It’s not the fault of Mark or Proud White Man for their comments in this blog. The fault lies in their parents and their cowardness for they would never address anyone face to face as they have here. People like them have always hidden under sheets or the dark of night to exercise their pathetic attempts of being REAL MEN. It’s a quote and i shouldn’t have to say who it’s by. (Okay… a former president)

… There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all. This is just as true of the man who puts “native” before the hyphen as of the man who puts German or Irish or English or French before the hyphen. Americanism is a matter of the spirit and of the soul. Our allegiance must be purely to the United States. We must unsparingly condemn any man who holds any other allegiance. But if he is heartily and singly loyal to this Republic, then no matter where he was born, he is just as good an American as any one else.

The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic. The men who do not become Americans and nothing else are hyphenated Americans; and there ought to be no room for them in this country. The man who calls himself an American citizen and who yet shows by his actions that he is primarily the citizen of a foreign land, plays a thoroughly mischievous part in the life of our body politic. He has no place here; and the sooner he returns to the land to which he feels his real heart-allegiance, the better it will be for every good American. There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Here’s the list of things you DON’T do: 1. Steal 2. Rape 3. Kill 4. Do drugs (really? no coffee, cigs, or beer?) 5. Bear children you can’t afford (Really? You have a uterus?) 6. Speak English 7. Finish high school 8. Wear clothes that fit 9. Father or raise your children 10. Defend thugs

Here’s what you do: 1. Work 2. Wash 3. Listen to music

Everyone: Mark’s comments should not insult you or shock you. It is a reminder that Atlanta is a microcosm, and that we are still in the DIRTY SOUTH. Unfortunately, Mark’s comments cannot be confined to this region. Being Black/African-American, those comments are a welcomed reminder that we must do better and that we must stop thinking that White people have changed their minds about us. Some have, but unfortunately, many feel like Mark, but will not express it as openly as he has. Take a look at your co-workers. You eat lunch together, you may even go out after work, but at the end of the day you are still a n**a to them. That is just the way it is.

Look at the countless examples of Blacks that were part of the good ole boy network, simply because they were making money for them. Did you ever notice how quickly they were abandon by that same group when the heat was on? America is driven by money. Those that have can play, those that don’t cannot, and when you stop making money for them, you are dispensable. Period. End of Story. Blacks as a community are different because we embrace people when others won’t because we know how it feels.

Spending energy on responding to Mark and his feelings is useless. Just take this opportunity to be reminded of how we are really viewed.

Thank you Mark. You have motivated me today to do better and for that, I am grateful. Be blessed.

Huh..I agree. I don’t like the term African American either. I am black but just call myself an American. Not sure who came up with African American as a label for all blacks, but I think its a misnomer. In my opinion, a person who immigrates to the USA is an African American. A person born here is an American period. Most whites here do not use Irish, Israeli, French, Chinese to state who they are, but folks want to distinguish and spotlight themselves with the word African. So do we look at a black person who has moved here from Haiti and call them African American? How about a black from France? Its ridiculous.

Excuse me Mark/Fedup. I saw on Primetime a house FULL of white girls 15 and some younger giving birth to their babies and putting them up for adoption. I was saying to myself where are all of those poll takers now. I almost fell out also when this white woman had a 15 year old daughter living with a 29 year old man. Next time you think your tax dollars are taking care of Laquita, you just think about all of those farmers who are getting subsidies not to grow anything. Please it just amazes me how white folks live in their own so-called perfect world and think they don’t anything wrong. Will someone please answer my question. Has anyone called Anna Nicole a whore yet with all of those men coming forth claiming to be the baby daddy. Nicole I don’t live my life trying to change white folks mine’s because I don’t even care. At least Mark is honest. He don’t like me and I don’t like him. I don’t eat lunch nor go out with my white coworkers. I just speak and move on. Hey that means we are equally yoked. We might as well get married. I have always wondered what is it about the word AFRICA that makes people scared. Everyone else can claim they are Italian.Irish and all of the other stuff but as soon as they hear Africa they get scared. That is just guilt. It is a shame that Oprah has more money that the universe and some white person in a trailer part still thinks they are better than she is.

Hello,

It is clear that Mark is either a racist or a person that was sent to rabble rouse. However, he makes valid points that black people should not run from.

Shootings in Dekalb and Clayton County, folks interviewed on the news that can not speak english, gangsta thugs everywhere and young unwed mothers should disturb you. These are the people we are judge by, and the FEW make us all look bad.

The BET show should be great. Its a slap in the face of a portion of our black society that needs a mirror.

Folks need to wake up an stop with all of the ignorance and stop playing into the Marks of the world.

As long as a section of our people act this way, the MARK’s will always have something to say.

All of you have truly shown actually how ignorant and unintelligent you really are. Though I am not surprised.

First all of you who lashed out at mark for his remarks; fell right into his trap, which only strengthened his views of Black people.

Secondly there is no such thing as a Black American, White American, Hispanic, Asian, and European and so on. Being an American is a Nationality only, not a Race or Ethnic group. Also not all Blacks were brought here through Slavery. I am a Historian, and there is proof in the documents of Columbus that put African people on this continent at his time of arrival.

Third, in order to truly and effectively respond to a racist such as mark. You must understand that all racists act out of fear. Really mark is probably not a racist, just an idiot. But he’s proven his views, by your comments.

And to the show, Black people need to see themselves in acts of buffoonery, for them to know that they are acting like fools. Like a church, is not a haven for saints, but it is a hospital for sinners. So this show is definitely not meant for intelligent people.

Thank you…

Hotlanta…in every culture we will see unwed teen moms. However, it is rampant in the black community. We need to stop pointing out flaws with other races and focus on ours.

Saying,” well white girls get pregnant too so there!” does what?

Statistically, more whites are on welfare than blacks because there are more whites in this country than blacks, however, there are more of us in jail.

I’d rather be a receiver of a subsidy than a thugmug in the penile system.

We need to stop pointing the finger and start doing better.

Uh, “Hotlanta,” I don’t have to be anything to white folks. I am a successful Black woman who grew up poor; latch-key kid; with single parent, etc. I had enough within MYSELF to achieve my goals and realize how I want to live and what I want to accomplish. And no, I’m not a spoiled “light, bright, almost white” sister, who may’ve had it easier. I am thoroughbred chocolate, and proud of it.

And if someone does something wrong—whether Black or White-that’s on them. I don’t excuse Whites for the mess they’ve done and still do, but neither do I excuse Blacks for their foolishness either. It is BECAUSE of the struggles of our people that I EXPECT us to act better!

This is America. Speak PROPER English. Go to school; stay out of trouble; apply yourself and you can achieve! As a Black, yea, you might have to fight harder or prove yourself even more, but you WILL succeed. Just don’t jack it up by getting caught up in stupidity, as it appears Vick has done. Again, what a fool he is, if charges are true. Did the Feds come to my house looking for dogs, cages, etc? NO, because I don’t have that stuff. If you don’t like the criminal justice system, stay the heck out of it. It’s real simple.

Some of the things “African-Americans” are doing are inexcusable and embarrassing—it’s uncalled for and you shouldn’t make excuses for it. I don’t.

We—Black America—don’t need anymore football classics or LeCabaret galas. We need people to teach their kids the keys to success, and it starts with decency, decorum, respect and education, not acting like a darn fool. Signed, A Black American.

I find it amazing that instead of covering the TCAs in Los Angeles or Comic-Con in San Diego for oh I don’t know … TV news we have to be subjected to this.

Why not just start the blog by saying: Do Blacks Belong on TV? It would have gotten you just the same results.

I come here to get information regarding Radio and TV news and too frequently is has become nothing more but an avenue for racists and the ignorant to spout what they feel.

C’mon other entertainment blogs wouldn’t put up with half of the stuff that you see around here. Don’t believe me … do a “write up” that combines Black people and entertainment and watch people like “Mark” come out of the woodwork.

I do believe that only two people have ever been banned from here. Not for their language but for the fact that they were openly promoting their own side businesses.

So as long as they step on the AJC’s toes it’s a problem but for Mark to call everyone who frequents the site the N-word is okay? If Mark felt it was okay to repeat what Andrew Dice Clay said about you said on 790 a couple of weeks back would you be so flippant about the whole situation.

Now I know they can’t send you to LA and NY to do actual reporting about TV but how about just for once you do a little more research. Pick a topic that elicits actual conversation about TV and Radio Entertainment news instead of copying and pasting what you find on the internet.

Entertainment bloggers in NY, LA and Chicago are running rings around you.

I’m not mad at you Rodney … because I know YOU CAN DO BETTER.

Voice of reason has it correct. As to the poster that watches cops-why don’t you watch the 10 and 11 pm news and see what is getting arrested-black people. What I don’t understand is why blacks have to have a leader/king. Can’t they think for themselves? You have Jackson and Sharpton as their Kings and the NAAcreating problems/PUSH stirring up mud. It was ok for the blacks to convict the Duke lacrosse team but it is racism when whites speak out against Vick. There is too much of a double standard and it goes back to family/parent values. these kids are being told that they are “entitled” to stuff because they were “oppressed” for a hundred years when they have not been; they claim to be “Afro-American” when most never stepped foot in any african country and some can’t point it out on the map. So I guess it is the Stupidity that bothers us-like muslim lover Andy Young, and race baiter Eaves and Boazman and Franklin and Jackson-I mean Atlanta has Racist Blacks running the city and you wonder why nothing gets done? Herman Cain, a black man, who I think is intelligent, could do a better job in his sleep. Bill Cosby is another that could do a better job in his sleep. It is not acting “white” it is called acting grown up and civil. That is why civil rights should be earned and not just given. When the black youths realize that you work your butt off (not steal your butt off) at a legal trade (not dope dealing)you can get ahead and have nice things. You don’t have to be like the two pin heads that live off of hand outs and boycott threats, you can be like Cosby and Cain and actually THINK for yourself and do something legal (not consensual)and make good money. Keep up the good posts Voice and have a good day.

To “who cares”…I am NOT joining you in the vitriol you are spewing. As a Black person, I DO call My people to task, to do what needs to be done to make the community better. But, lest you forget, White people are the ones who first started the racial divide in this country. And instead of you ONLY seeing the ills of the Black community, perhaps you need to address and challenge YOUR people to correct the ills within your OWN community!

White people FAIL to realize their arrogance (no, this is our neighborhood, school, career, etc.) It was WHITE people who raped Africans of their homeland and STOLE land here from the Native Americans.

It is STILL WHITE people who drag Blacks to their death behind trucks; who refuse to socialize with Blacks of like mind and income; WHITES who do clandestine deals to the exclusion of Blacks, etc. And yes, WHITE people commit crimes, too!

Don’t get so high and mighty in your whiteness that you don’t see your OWN filth! It is WHITES who control the airwaves and blatantly discriminate against Blacks, especially Black women and Blacks of richer hue. It is WHITE people who buy tanners, bronzers, butt, cheek and breast implants—trying to get the beautiful, sexy features of Black skin and Black women’s bodies, but never once will declare those features to be beautiful when naturally occuring in Black women!

SO, get off YOUR high horse “who cares,” and clean up the racist attitude in YOUR people.

Voice of Reason: There was what, one black man dragged to his death? Compare that to thousands of whites who have been killed by black gang-bangers and thugs. Better yet, look at your beloved Africa. Over there, it’s machete massacres 24/7. Great continent you’ve developed. It was the cradle of civilization, but look at it now. Nonstop violence, disease, and death. And this on a continent with more natural resources than the United States. Just goes to show you what happens when the coloreds are allowed to run everything.

That was one black man…? Surely you jest. Again, you—like ‘who cares’—don’t want to look at YOUR own people’s deeds, YOUR people’s filth. ACKNOWLEDGE that. And what about the oppression on Black Africans by White Africans? Check your history, buddy!LOOK AT YOUR OWN PEOPLE’S FILTHY DEEDS. Acknowledge that! This is my last post. Bye to all.

Voice of Reason: I know my people’s history, and it’s a lot better than yours. We’ve actually developed and progressed, as opposed to your kind.

Beautiful Black Woman: That’s an oxymoron (you can look up that word in a dictionary since I know you have no idea what it means). But thanks for demonstrating that your people are little more than talking apes. Now go fling some poo at your mother while she drinks a 40-ounce and waits for your brother to come home with the crack.

BET is nothing more than a vulgar, coonfest, and it is crystal clear that the Black trash in Atlanta will embrace this new program. Go to any establishment in this city and it will be overrun by ghetto animals…its really disgusting. 90% of Black folks have no standards at all.

BBW: I can barely understand your illiterate ramblings. You must be a product of Dekalb County or the Atlanta Public School System. Did you make it to the third grade, or was your daddy already pimping you out by then? Good luck in prison.

This statement has bugged me all weekend. You call it your country, but you classify yourself by a name given to you - Native American. There’s defeat all over that statement. The history is so hidden, I’m wondering what you called yourself before you surrendered.
