1/31: Q100’s Adam Bomb (hearts) Timbaland
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Did Q100 night-time jock Adam Bomb implode on the air last night? He apparently started playing the new Timbaland song “Give it to Me” (with Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake) over and over again because he loved it so much. Dylan Sprague, program director and afternoon jock, called in and told him to stop. He didn’t. He even locked himself in the studio. He was finally taken off the air after more than an hour and literally escorted out of the station after playing the song 22 times in a row.
Is this a strange stunt or Adam Bomb just being a pain? Probably the latter, possibly the former. Sprague emailed me at 4 p.m. to say he can’t talk about it right now. At 7 p.m., Adam was allowed back on by Dylan. “He isn’t going anywhere,” Dylan said. “But when we say 10 songs in a row, we mean ten different songs.”

Ala Sean Demery with “Bittersweet Symphony” in the late 90’s!

It was all so bizarre and a little funny at the same time. I felt bad for Wendy she couldn’t do anything to stop him and admantly protested that she had nothing to do with it.
If Dylan the Program Director can’t talk about it I guess that it really must be serious and not a prank at afterall. Thanks for looking into it. I’ll definitely be tuning at 7pm tonight.

Michelle— It all depends on how you define a story. This is a blog. I have an obligation to keep it updated with items every weekday. And there was a possibility (if this wasn’t some silly stunt) of Adam being suspended. So I followed it to its conclusion. Will this make the print edition? No.

Michelle, I think it’s a story, and obviously others do too, or else several people wouldn’t have asked about it in a previous post. And, if you didn’t care you wouldn’t have bothered to leave a post.

Smells like a lame PR stunt to me. Rodney…I’m glad you’re not giving them any free advertising in the print edition…let them pay for ad space like anyone else!

I caught the Timbaland song while scanning the radio on my long trek home after work. I initially thought I was listening to an extended version of the song. After the 3rd time I heard it, I switched to another station. After 20 min, I switched back to Q-100 and “Give It to Me” was still playing. After hearing the entire song again, I switched away. I really never knew who the announcer was for I typically just tune in to the Bert Show. So today I find that this action was merely a promotional prank, afterall JT is soon coming to ATL. Apparently its kinda working because I’ve found myself humming that song during all parts of the day. I think I’ll now try to get tickets to the JT show. Subliminal advertising apparently works.

All I want to know is how much did JT pay these clowns to play that song that many times. Im thinking somewhere between 10 and 15k

I still say “Adam Bomb” is the most insipid, stupid name in the history of radio.
