11/27: Clear Channel update

No wonder the Kimmer isn’t so upset. He is under contract with Clear Channel for at least another year so he’ll be paid to play golf for at least 12 months, according to his agent Bob Eatman, who also reps Clark Howard, Bert Weiss and Eric Von Haessler. (Nothing new with Eric, he said.)

I also spoke with Larry Wachs. No news on his legal front but he said he’s had a couple of interviews for new jobs. He is confident given his track record, he’ll find a new job in a decent market.

I’m sorry to see Kimmer go but I have to admit I like what I’ve heard so far of Mike McConnell.

I have forced myself to listen to WSJ This Morning, the replacement show for Tom Hughes today. I must say that I am FASCINATED to hear repeatedly how the airlines are trying to handle the problem with people reclining their seats into your face. Also repeatedly wrapping the story about stroke victims dealing with aphasia. OVER and OVER and OVER again. WHO THINKS THIS CRAP IS ENTERTAINING??????????? Clear Channel - you’re nuts!

So….Clear Channel is going to continue paying the King, Kimmer and Denny. Where will they get the money to pay them? The ratings are going to take a nosedive, meaning no advertisers and no revenue.

Randall Bloomquist and Chuck Deskins have got to be the biggest MORONS ever at the Building of Death.

They have successfully killed 3 radio stations in less than 4 weeks. And now, 105.3 is another station for the illegals. Half of CC’s FM signals now cater to illegals.

I’m sure the management team at Clear Channel is doing everything they can to make Atlanta radio the best it can be.

I hope CC goes CH 7-they are the official illegal alien station in my opinion. They show no allegiance tot he ENGLISH speaking audience. All we can do is turn to another station and watch the CC sponsors take their business elsewhere. Figures-a San Antonio station would try to force Atlanta into speaking like them. Hey CC-Ingles solamente! Esto es AMERICA!

incredulous again: Absolutely. In the last 12 months Clear Channel has fired every single on-air personality that I listened to.

Look at the last ten songs played on The Buzz I mean Project 961:

Doesn’t Remind Me
Audioslave

Come as You Are
Nirvana

Byob
System Of A Down

Next 2 You
Buckcherry

Kryptonite
3 Doors Down

Animal I Have Become
Three Days Grace

Give It Away Red Hot Chili Peppers

So Cold Breaking Benjamin

Longview
Green Day

Land Of Confusion Disturbed

So much for the promised mixed of what was good on the old 96 Rock. Also, is Jennifer Reed still on CC’s payroll? She hasn’t given any updates on her myspace site.

Damn shame…I’ll be missing the Kimmer. Hopefully he stays in the Atlanta market and finds a radio station that doesn’t have their head in the sand. WGST definitely lost this listener

I have 2 stations on my radio. GST and WSB. Granted I listened to WSB more often, but I always switched back and forth from Boortz to Denny in the morning, Rush in midday (Sorry, but Clark is a snack - not a meal), then in the afternoon it was ALWAYS Kimmer as Hannity gets boring after 1/2 hr.

It is unfathomable to me that his ratings weren’t impressive enough to keep him. Denny was OK and at least an alternative. Now I’m 95% WSB and 5% Rush and Thats It. Other than Rush, syndicated shows are rediculously boring.

Clear Channel has really screwed up this time! As a huge fan of talk radio, they have made my decision to purchase XM worth it’s weight in gold. I can hear the new GST lineup on XM in digital clarity you clowns!

The Regular Guys, The Kimmer, and Tom Hughes and should ban together to form a radio station of their own! Throw in some 96 Rock style music and you’ve got yourself a local talent super star radio station. Here’s to dreaming!

Clear Channel is certainly clearing the airwaves of interesting personalities. Does Rush know he will be fired next?? Find Rush on WDUN - 550 in Gainesville (good signal through downtown atlanta) and WMAC - 940 in Macon ( good signal north to downtown atlanta). No reason to listen to any CC station or support advertisers. Sorry Braves, never while you are on CC - TV or nothing. GO KIMMER GO.

I, too, have my stations set at GST & WSB and listened on my way home at night. Horribly upset that the Kimmer is gone. Listened to him after I found Sean Hannity annoying. I listened to the Kimmer since he first came on. Can’t wait to find out where he is and hoping it is within listening distance!! WGST has lost me …
