6/30: Paris Hilton single
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Paris Hilton attempting a singing career sounds like a bad idea. In fact, her notoriety is what many may say is the reason she even has a record, not necessarily any actual talent.
But our music critic Nick Marino Friday wrote about how the song “Stars are Blind” is actually frothy reggae fun along the lines of Blondie’s “The Tide is High.” Her vocals are breathy and oddly coy. Both Q100 and Star 94 have jumped on the song. It’s now the 10th most played song on Q100 with 40 spins the past week and the 21st most played song on Star 94 with 30 spins. Nationally, after about a month out, the song is up to 24 from 30 a week earlier, according to allaccess.com. It’s likely to hit the top 10 given its rate of momentum.
The question is: would folks like the song more if they didn’t know it was Paris Hilton? Would that very knowledge color listeners’ opinions good or bad? Q100’s Melissa Carter said she was inclined to hate the song but can’t help but like it. I get a sense a lot of people feel the same way. For folks who have heard “Stars are Blind,” do you fall into Melissa’s camp? Or does the fact it’s Paris make it impossible for you to like it?

The next and ONLY thing I would like to read about Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Lindsey Lohan, Brittney Spears and the freaky Olsen twins are their obituaries; all on the same plane, in the same firey crash.

I actually like the song despite the fact that Paris sings it. It’s very catchy and cute.

I’ve heard it and I can’t get past the fact that it’s Paris Hilton. I don’t know if I would’ve liked it if I didn’t know it was her……..I change the station when I hear it.

Bo,You left off Christina Agulleria on that list of obituaries. Paris Hilton has talent, outside of making sex tapes & lame roadtrip tv shows? She needs to get a real J-O-B & stop living off the family money.

I HATE the fact that I actually like the song. I am so tired of Paris Hilton. but when the song comes on I can’t chanfe the station. It is catchy. But you have to wonder, is it really Paris or is it Paris with a bunch of studio help? Will she ever sing it live?

No, she doesn’t need to get a job. What a silly statement. Her daddy didn’t cut her out, did he? Look, she might not be your favorite person, but why hate on her? It’s not like she invented the game…she just made it a little ‘hotter’. Beside, it’s just a little entertainment, and it’s a decent little ditty…

alright..here’s my take probably a week to late…the song is horrible, but here’s the deal…music in that genre is pretty much horrible too and this song is no worse than any other crap you hear on the radio today. No offense to anyone who makes it, but it’s all over-produced and not about music or the song at all..its all about the publicity machine behind it…case in point: Ashley Simpson/Lindsey Lohan/Britney and K-Fed…any rapper with ‘lil in their name…it’s all horrible as far as music goes..paris just fits the mold….
