Stars turn out for Fonda film premiere
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Blue skies and cool temperatures provided a postcard-worthy backdrop for the slew of celebrities walking the red carpet at the “world premiere” of “Georgia Rule” at the Woodruff Arts Center in Midtown on Monday night. (Click here to view photos.)
The Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention benefit hosted by “Georgia” star Jane Fonda attracted the Oscar winner’s co-star Felicity Huffman, the film’s hilarious director Garry Marshall, Fonda’s “favorite ex-husband” Ted Turner, actress Vivica A. Fox, producer Dallas Austin, OutKast’s Big Boi, and former Atlanta Mayor Andrew Young and his wife, Carolyn.
“I’m Georgia and I’ve got rules,” Fonda told the assembled media on the red carpet. Having fun with the lingering talk about the now-inframous memo issued to co-star Lindsay Lohan during the shoot, Fonda standing near Huffman, cracked: “Felicity was late a few times, so I had to yell at her!”
Commenting on Fonda’s sexy blue jean clad Idaho grandmother in the film, Turner told Buzz; “Jane’s always looked great to me. Why do you think I married her?”
Of meeting and working with Fonda, Huffman told us: “I must have gone through five outfits before I met her the first time. I’m not in her league. She’s an icon and I was completely intimidated but she made me feel comfortable immediately.”
During the event’s live auction, Huffman’s “Desperate Housewives” walk on role went for a jaw-dropping 65,000. The actresses ran off the stage to hug and kiss the unidentified gentleman who won the auction item.
